Book Description

There are some pretty weird grown-ups living in Bailey City. But could the new third grade teacher from the Transylvania Alps really be a vampire?

The Bailey School Kids are going to find out!

The third grade at Bailey Elementary was very hard to handle. Most teachers quit -and moved far away - after trying to teach them.

But Mrs. Jeepers was different. No one ever dared make her mad - because whenever they did, the strangest things would happen.... ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars It was a great read-aloud to introduce students to the serie
My third graders are beginning to read more chapter books the first 9 weeks of school. I read "Vampires Don't Wear Polka Dots" out loud to introduce them to the series. I already have 3-5 copies of the other titles waiting! This book was a very interesting book for them to listen to. They became interested in the characters right away. They bonded with the kids in the book and laughed at Eddie! They also liked how strange Mrs. Jeepers is. This is a great book for creating interest in the series and getting kids to read a chapter book. We have done summaries and story maps with the book.

3-0 out of 5 stars The Hilarious Book
I think ''Vampires Don't Wear Polka Dots'' was a pretty good book. I liked it when the kids almost got caught by their teacher. It was pretty hilarious. The kids really did think their teacher was actually a real live vampire. I think ''Vampires Don't Wear Polka Dots'' is a child's book. One thing I don't like about ''Vampires Don't Wear Polka Dots'' is that no one disappears to make it a little bit scarier. That is what I think about ''Vampires Don't Wear Polka Dots."

5-0 out of 5 stars Second Best book I ever read
This book is about 5 kids who think their new teacher is a vampire. It is a little scary but very good and whenever their teachers brooch glows it means she is very mad. I read this book in two hours it was so good.

5-0 out of 5 stars A Great Book
Vampires Don't Wear Polka Dots
By
Debbie Dadey and Marcia Thorton Jones

The third grade at Bailey Elementary is the hardest class to control, especially Eddie, who is the class trouble- maker. Most of the teachers who had this class left Bailey Elementary because of all of Eddie's pranks. The new teacher, Mrs. Jeepers is different, though. She won't quit no matter what Eddie does. Each day Mrs. Jeepers wears a brooch that kept getting greener and greener as Eddie does something bad. Vampires Don't Wear Polka Dots is about how Mrs. Jeepers takes control of the third grade, but the kids begin to wonder about her.
I think the authors wrote this book to make people laugh. Vampires Don't Wear Polka Dots is a very funny, entertaining book. I read the book and laughed.
I really liked this book because of the interesting way it was written. There are all kinds of clues and mysterious events that make you want to figure out the solution. I thought it was clever how the authors used details and events to make the teacher look like a vampire. In a way the classroom and kids seemed like they could be real, but the authors also included parts that were fun and imaginary.
I would recommend this book because you can have fun reading it. I think first to third grade kids would enjoy this book.

5-0 out of 5 stars The BEST Book!
This Abby Hayes book is a must read. You really should read it, especially if you love writing.
When Ms. Kantor (Abby's teacher) announces that she's leaving for a few weeks to take care of her mother, Abby Hayes volunteers to take charge on the project the class is doing.
(they were going to put gifts inside boxes and wrap them and give them to the less fortunate kids.)But a really, really, really, really, really, really mean subsitute teacher wouldn't let them do the project in class. Plus, she was nasty, wouldn't listen to any of the kids, and was a yellerhead. Will Abby and her classmates get the project done, and get the subsitute out of the class for good? Find out when you read Too Close For Comfort! READ IT! :-)

5-0 out of 5 stars Yay Abby! Yay Abby!

4-0 out of 5 stars Patiently Alice
I like this book. It show about life and boyfriend problem. It really express the reader that life as Alice is difficult that no one is perfect. That why i like "Patiently Alice By Phyllis Reynold Naylor".

5-0 out of 5 stars Best one yet
i have read all the alice books so far and Patiently Alice is the best one yet. I found it touching and it felt like I knew everything about Alice. I was long anticipating another Alice book and I'm so excited that this was it. I savored every word of this book. Thanks

5-0 out of 5 stars Ohmigod!!!
Remember when I said in my other reviews of the Alice books that each installment will make the reader blush a little harder, starting out with pink and going to fire engine red? WELL, IN THIS ONE YOU WILL BLUSH PURPLE!! Without a doubt one of the best Alice books! I considered fainting when Elizabeth bought some...ahem...THINGS, lets leave it at that and really did nearly faint when Elizabeth relived her...ahem...RONDEVOUS WITH ROSS!!! I found this wonderful! Read it and reread it along with the others until the next one comes out and then do it all over again!

Blessed Be!!

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Book
I have been a faithful reader in the "Alice" series and when I read this book, I was definitly not disappointed. I have read every single Alice book and I still find it interesting. This book was escpecially good to me because it involved tons of new guys for the girls to fight over and have fun with. I also liked that the girls were in a different environment than what they usually were in, that being a coed camp. This book was touching and fun. I even laughed out loud, which I hardly ever do in books.

5-0 out of 5 stars Another great addition to the series!
I've been a fan of the Alice series for over three years, now, and every year I anxiously await the next release. I was not disappointed with Patiently Alice this spring - far from it! Covering the summer between 15-year-old Alice McKinley's 9th and 10th grade years, this should be popular with fans and newcomers to the series alike.

Alice's mother died when she was very young, so she's excited that her dad is finally marrying her English teacher from 7th grade. Alice and three of her friends, Elizabeth, Pamela, and Gwen, decide to be assistant counselers at a summer camp for three weeks, however, soon before the wedding. Alice and her friends have a lot of fun, trials, and tribulations at camp, but when Alice returns home, so many things have changed. The wedding is postponed, her 22-year-old brother Lester is considering moving, a friend is having family problems, and she even hears from her ex-boyfriend, Patrick.

I would definitely recommend this book to anyone who likes very realistic, humorous reads about life for a teenage girl who is not-so-perfect but somehow relates to all of us. Be sure to read the othes in the series, and if you still want more, try The Princess Diaries series by Meg Cabot or the Angus, Thongs, and Full Frontal Snogging series by Louise Rennison. Enjoy! ... 5-0 out of 5 stars A great and must read book!
I have all the BSC Friends Forever books, including this one. But this book is my favorite! That's how good the book is! I love how all the characters in the BSC Friends Forever Series have all dealed with realistic situations! A great job you're doing, Ms. Martin, and keep up the great work!

Could Stacey's life get any crazier? Not one, not two, but five of her ex-boyfriends are converging on Stoneybrook over one weekend. From Toby, a long-ago summer boyfriend, to Ethan, her most recent older-boy ex--Stacey's going to have to do a lot of boy-juggling. And then there's Stacey's current boyfriend, Jeremy, who Stacey suspects is really in love with Claudia. What's a girl to do? Read this book to find out! Trust me, you'll love this book!

5-0 out of 5 stars Stacey's love life gets a bit crazier....
Okay- here's a summary of the book...

Stacey is going out with Jeremy, the boy she and Claudia had a fight over (he likes Stacey, but lately Stacey starts thinking that he secretly loves Claudia instead). Claudia and Stacey SORT-OF make up about "the fight" and start talking again. Stacey learns that her favorite math teacher ever, Mr. Zizmore, is moving away to Houston, Texas. She decides to throw a going away party with some of his students and teachers at SMS.

Here's where it gets REALLY interesting... at this party, Toby (the guy Stacey met at Sea City and kissed, which was her first kiss ever), Sam (Kristy's brother that goes to high school that Stacey went out with for awhile), Pete (another boyfriend), Robert (the boyfriend that Stacey had before Ethan and turned really needy all of a sudden), Wes (Stacey's huge student-teacher crush-ee), Ethan (Stacey's most current ex-boyfriend that is fifteen and lives in New York), and Jeremy (Stacey's current boyfriend) ALL ARE THERE.

Okay, so the plot is completely crazy (what thirteen year old girl has accumulated that many boyfriends?) and all are appearing after long absences on that one particular Saturday, but all in all it's a fun book!

5-0 out of 5 stars Friends BSC Forever:Stacey and The Boyfriend trap(#6)
This is by far the best book ever! All of Stacey's ex-boyfriends are back. How well will she handle the BFT( BoyFriend Trap).Way to go Ms.Martin.
P.S: I OWN all of the "Friends BSC Forever" books!

Lots of Love,
Fulliem Quach xoxoxoxo

2-0 out of 5 stars Stacey+ Too Many Guys= A Bad Book!
I didn't find this book interesting because all it talks about is Stacey and guys. This series never even talks about the Baby-Sitters Club anymore.I didn't get my moneys worth. In the story, Stacey's ex- boyfriends all come to see Stacey in Stoneybrook. The five of them all colide at this big party. It's the most dullest book I've read in my life. I agree with the person below me. DON'T READ THIS BOOK!

3-0 out of 5 stars Too Many Boyfriends
I guess I liked the book, but I don't like how Stacey is totally obsessed with boys. I mean, 5 ex-boyfriends at the age of 13?? Thats not normal for a person that age! I also think Stacey is a little to obsessed with shopping. The author should get Stacey a better head on her shoulders and not keep having a different boyfriend in every different book! ... 3-0 out of 5 stars Ho Ho Ho!!
In this, the 3rd Bailey School Kids series, a new janitor has come in to replace the regular custodian who has just quit after finding the school banister covered in peanut butter. A mysterious, bearded, pipe-smoking gent by the name of Mr. Jolly steps in to take over.

Mr. Jolly bears a striking resemblance to Santa Claus, and he's forever watching the 3rd grade gang and taking notes in a small red notebook. He also keeps turning down the thermostat to meat locker temperatures and shows an amazing ability to clean up the most horrible messes within moments... Magic, perhaps??

This book is much less frightening than the first two books which involved more supernatural creatures and creepy goings-on. For young readers who may get spooked all too easily, but who like a good mystery (IS Mr. Jolly REALLY Santa??), this would be a good choice. Children who are LOOKING for that spooky, creepy sort of plot line (a few steps lower on the scariness scale than the Goosebumps series) may be disappointed with this installment. Still, it is a fast-paced, short book, so it is a good choice for emergent readers.

3-0 out of 5 stars 3 Stars from Mom, 5 Stars from the Reader
It must be the generation gap setting in - I don't much like this series, but my 8 year old has just about eaten up the series. I like books with more of a plot, and a little bit deeper - but everyone needs a good 'escape' read every so often.

On the bright side, these are a short read for kids. There is no violence, although it seems pretty clear that their teacher is a vampire since she comes from Transylvania and talks with an accent.

The other up side is that if we read these together (which we like to do), we can each try out the Transylvanian accent.

If you need books to read by yourself (for those under 10), I'd say go for these. Parents can rest assured that these books are a nice adventure for the kids.

5-0 out of 5 stars I thought it was cool!
The funny part of the story is when Eddie stuffed toilet paperin his t-shirt because he said look i'm a jiggly santa.

4-0 out of 5 stars Pink sunglasses.
I like this book becase the end is good and begining.I am going to read more books of the baley scoole kids.

5-0 out of 5 stars Ahoy, mates!! All aboard for fun times!
If vampires don't wear polka-dots, and genies don't ride bicycles, then a pirate certainly wouldn't be caught wearing pink sunglasses, would he??

Welcome to book #9 in the Bailey School Kid's series (which I affectionately call the "...Don't..." series for it's wonderful titles of mythical/magical creatures who don't do something or other). This time the kids are off (again!) to camp Lone Wolf (originally visited in book #2, Werewolves Don't Go to Summer Camp). Every year they take place in a rowing competition, and every year they are trounced. That is, maybe until THIS year when Captain Read shows up!

And what a character the Captain is! He sports a striped shirt and dewrag like a real pirate, and even has an obnoxious parrot that spouts bits of wisdom and seems to be spying on the gang. Read seems to know a great deal about an ancient buried treasure that a mad female pirate had buried around Bailey City somewhere. Some kids even begin to think he IS a pirate. But, if he WAS, he wouldn't be wearing those giant pink sunglasses, would he...?? WOULD he...??

I've reviewed the other books leading up to this one, and again I must say that the "...Don't..." series is a fine choice for beginning/intermediate readers. The pace of the text is quick, easy to read (I can polish off one of these books in about 20 minutes) and fun. While not spooky like some others in this series, "Pirates Don't..." is a lot of fun. One can just hear Captain Read growling in a guttural Irish/sea shanty sort of voice as he calls out "ahoy!" and all that piratical stuff (this would make a good selection for reading aloud simply for the chance to make fun voices).

As per usual in the series, Eddie doesn't believe Captain Read is a pirate or is in search of buried treasure, and children could easily copy him and make a game out of arguing if or if not the Captain really IS a pirate. This is a good deal of the series' appeal, I think: the small group of students who seem to be the only ones who notice anything weird going on and their investigations into whether or not these strange folk are what they might be (a vampire, werewolf, ghost, pirate, etc...).

Although the series is in numerical order (as of this writing, it goes up to at least 40), and though some characters make reappearances, it isn't necessary to begin reading at any given point to enjoy the series. Grab one or two (including "Pirates Don't...") and see if YOU too, aren't hooked!! ... Read more

I read this book it was very good! It's about Liza who can only see the Unicorn! Her friends don't belive her! This is my favorite Bailey school kids book!

4-0 out of 5 stars great book report
This is about 4 kids who thinks they saw a unicorn. There was unicorn magic happening in Baily City. Mr. Wither's a stable owner donated his business to Baily City. Thanks to the 4 kids they helped keep the stable and other animals safe and clean. A dog and cat appeared by magic in the barn. This is the place where the unicorn maybe lived. The 4 kids tried to do funny things to see if the unicorn really is a horse or is a real unicorn. Do you think so?

I made a barn out of a shoebox and made my story inside the box. I made a scene of all the things that happened in this book. I turned this project into our teacher Mrs. South at school. 3rd grade

5-0 out of 5 stars A Happy Holiday Story
I think this book is a good holiday book. It really gets you in the mood for the holiday you're waiting for, especially Christmas. It's about the four kids in this series. Melody, Howie and Eddie doubt this, but Liza thinks that there is something special at Bailey Stables, a unicorn. Eddie wants to prove her wrong so he cooks up a plan to show her she's wrong. Find out if Eddie's plan is successful, or if there really is something magical at the stables. It's guaranteed that you'll like this book.

5-0 out of 5 stars ABBY HAYES CAN DO ANYTHING!
In the fourth book in the series, Abby Hayes has hand-me-down rollerblades from her older SuperSis, Eva. Abby hates them, she can barely take them off! So she decides to save her money. Many unexpected things happen in the process, and someone in her family takes a trip to the emergency room! Abby finally gets an idea where she earns more than enough money to buy shiny purple rollerblades she has had her eye on for a while. I loved this book because it is so interesting to see how Abby resists the urge to spend money and how she finally accomplishes her goal. Read this book today!

This and the rest of the Abby Hayes series are amazing! The books are wonderful and very cool. There is one problem though: Anne Mazer (the writer) repeats the same thing over and over. 5-0 out of 5 stars You'll love this book !
I gave this book five stars because it was a great mystery. It
had a thrill about finding out if their scuba teacher is a lake monster. They eventually find out that she is a monster
but it brings in an adventure and mystery to find out.The book
brings in some beliefs and realistic things about monsters.

3-0 out of 5 stars fun, but not the best of the series
In book #14 of the Bailey School Kids series, the gang goes back again to Camp Lone Wolf (you know, the one where the counselor may be a werewolf!). There they meet the bagpipe playing, wetsuit wearing, Scottish brogue speaking Nessie, the camp swimming teacher. There's something odd about her, and very odd about the shapes that seem to be surfacing in the lake late at night. Is it possible there's a monster in there?

"Monsters Don't..." is a cute, quickly moving book in this series, but it not one of the best books. It's confusing at a lot of points because the reader isn't sure if there's a separate monster from Loch Ness in the lake, or if the camp swim teacher is a monster herself. While this may seem to add to the mystery of the series and infuse it with that characteristic weird-creepiness seen in other books in the series, here in "Monsters Don't..." it just winds up being confusing. The ending is a bit weak, leaving readers wondering why the book ended when they finish the last page and the character of Nessie isn't very strong or well sketched out. If you're a diehard fan of the series, then by all means read it! However, if you're just picking up a few here and there, you may want to think about skipping this one.

4-0 out of 5 stars Is there a Monster in Lake Erin?
I thought this book was good for first through third grade.I thought it was a really good book because the Bailey School kids think there is a monster in Lake Erin.I would recommend this book to first threw third grader because it is a short book with very big print. I thought when Eddie saw a tiny fish and thought it was a shark it was very funny. My favorite character was Eddie.Eddie is a redheaded boy who cracks me up.One reason I liked Eddie is that he likes to argue with the teacher.Eddie also hates school and reading.

5-0 out of 5 stars This book was very very good!
Monsters Don't Scuba Dive is a book by Debbie Dadey and Marcia Thornton Jones. I thought Monsters Don't Scuba Dive is a good book! I thought it was good because it is very exciting and adventurous. It was exiting because the kids are trying to find out if the new swimming teacher at Camp Lone Wolf is the sea monster that was seen in Loch Ness in Scotland. After all, she is Scottish and her name is Nessie. This book is in the Bailey School Kids Series . There are thirty books in the series. The four main characters are Eddie, Liza, Melody, and Howie. I recommend the books to all ages. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars GO, ABBY, GO!
This book was another one of my favorites in the series and once you read it, it will be yours, too. Abby desperataly wants a pet, and her neighbor, Heather, has a cat named Marshmallow who is just adorable! Plus, she had kittens and Heather doesn't know what to do with them. After Abby takes care of Marshmallow as a favor to Heather, she gets one of Marshmallow's kittens! She uses all of her money to take care of it and finally, Abby's parents say that she can keep it, with the help of one of her SuperSibs (to find out which one, read the book). Plus, while all of this is going on, there is a big diving contest at the pool. Who will win the contest and what will happen to the kitten, now that Abby gets to keep it? To find out, get a copy of this great book!

5-0 out of 5 stars Wonderful Book !!
I am a 9 year old girl and think that this was the best Abby Hayes book I have read so far and I have read 8 of them. I think it is a good book for girls my age because some girls can relate to the story like I did. As an example: Abby really wanted to get a pet but her parents wouldn't let her. That happened to me too.

5-0 out of 5 stars Amazing Days of Abby Hayes:Look before you leap review
I like this book a lot because of the exciting and energetic characters and the cute lovable cat (I love all animals). I also really like the story.

I think Ann Mazer has done a wonderful job with this series, it really inspires girls to write in journals. I know I wanted to write in my journal after I started reading this series. I also really think they should have a TV show featuring Abby Hayes for all the Abby fans like me.

5-0 out of 5 stars Dragon's Don't Cook Pizza
Four third grade kids named Howie,Melody,Eddie, and Liza. They always have a mystery to solve. There are lots of books in this series. They are all good. In this book, the 3rd grade class went on a field trip to a bakery. They think something is very fishy. They come back that night and tryed to figure out the case out. Is the man who cooks the pizza a dragon? I like these books because they are mysteries and you get relly exited about the mystery.

4-0 out of 5 stars Dragons Don't Cook Pizza
The name of this book is Dragons Don't Cook Pizza and the authors are Debbie Dadey and Marcia Jones.

The book was awesome! Even though it's for kids younger kids than I am, I still read it.
The best part in the book is when they all work together to figure out the riddle.
The worst part was when Eddie didn't think that Dragons existed.

This book was cool, funny and exciting.
I hope whoever likes to read picks out this book and enjoys it, because it's worth your while.

1-0 out of 5 stars I found this books content inappropriate for young children.
My daughter brought this book home and the title made me curious, so I read it. The storyline of this book is disjointed, the content is utterly ridiculous and serves only to insult the intelligence of young readers. Under the guise of fiction/mystery literature this book is laden with occult symbolisms aimed directly at the unsuspecting minds of young children . All in all, I find this to be more appropriate reading for 5th grade and up.

3-0 out of 5 stars It was OK
This book is okay. It all starts when Mrs. Jeepers tells her class that a new pizza place has opened called Jewwel's Pizza. Then Howie, Liza, Eddie and Melody hear strange dragon-like sounds from the kitchen. They think that George, the restraunt owner is St. George holding a dragon as slavery for cooking the pizza.

3-0 out of 5 stars melody, liza, eddie and howie think a dragon is cooking pizza.

5-0 out of 5 stars BOOK
Ok, first of all i think Jeremy and Jade make THE worst couple. Jeremy deserves so much better than JAde, like Jess. Jess is everything that he ever wanted in a girl and shes right in front of him and hes ignoring the fact that she still is i love with him. Instead he's falling for Jade AGAIN after he caught her with another guy. Now he Elizabeth and Conner thing is not looking good. Conner took off, and is with his long-lost father somewhere in Cali. All i know for sure is that if Conner doesn't come back soon then Liz is gonna fall for Evan, Conner's best friend. :(

3-0 out of 5 stars So Not Right...?
This book was *really* fast-paced, but I think it climaxed a lot of the events that had to happen. Jade has fallen for Jeremy - the first guy she's ever truly fallen for, in fact - but you end up wondering, does she really mean it...and does she deserve him? Andy talks to Six, the first person who will really listen to him, and she convinces him to tell his parents about how he's pretty sure he's gay. When he comes out, his parents are surprised, and run him down with a few questions. But it really isn't the death situation he expected. Will still refuses to see Melissa, who misses him and desperately wants him to at least *talk* to her. Conner has bolted after Liz made the mistake of saying, "We're here because we love you" and headed to find his father in upper Red Bluff, California. He ends up staying with him and sending an e-mail to Megan informing her where he is...but not when he's coming back. Liz is falling apart and meanwhile Evan has become like a support for her. Tia mistakens it by thinking that two seconds after Conner's gone, Liz has immediately gotten together with his best friend and how sleazy is that? Liz is shocked and tells Tia that's totally ridiculous. She herself is not so sure about how she feels about Evan, though. He's a friend, sure - but could she ever consider him as more? Maria has alienated herself from Ken and frankly, I think that's great. They were never good for each other anyway, plus, his whole "instant-connection-with-Melissa" thing is hurl-inducing. The whole point is, this wasn't one of the better SY books, but there definitely have been worse. Hopefully Jeremy will come to his senses and knock out Jade, get back together with Jess, and Conner will come to HIS senses and return to Sweet Valley. So, overall - this book was all right.

5-0 out of 5 stars Book 22 in the SVH: Senior Year Series
Despite the title (which is, like, the epitome of valley girl slang), "So Not Me" is a great SVHSY book. It picks up right where the previous book, "The It Guy," left off: with Conner McDermott's intervention. His reaction (summed up perfectly in his beginning journal entry: "What. The. Hell.") is to run away, hightailing it up the California coast to Red Bluff to find his estranged father, who is a compatible match with him: he's lazy, brooding, and an alcoholic. I feared it'd take another couple books for Conner to find his dad, confront him, etc., but thankfully this subplot wasn't as long-drawn-out as some others in this series.

Romance-wise, the following happens: Elizabeth Wakefield does a little "unintentional" flirting with Conner's best friend, Evan Plummer, while he's away. And Jade Wu has done the unthinkable: she's fallen for Jeremy Aames, despite priding herself on being a player. Jeremy, on the other hand, is treading a little more carefully, especially after she cheated on him.

"So Not Me" really shows how self-absorbed a lot of these characters are, especially in regard to Andy Marsden's sexuality crisis. After an indifferent response to his coming out, he finally gets some decent support from--of all people--his ex-girlfriend, Six Hanson. By the end, things are looking better for him for a change.

3-0 out of 5 stars Ehhhh
this book wanst as good as the others. there was no reference to ken or will or melissa. they are the most interesting charcters, they def. should be in some coming up.

5-0 out of 5 stars a great book!
This book was awsome! At first I hated Jade because of what she did to Jeremy and Jessica, but now I see that she really likes Jeremy. Truely. Maria should just forget about Ken. He was a jerk and just dissed her for his new world, which revolves entirely around football. Andy made some big decisions invoving being gay, and I think it's great that he made them, but he shouldn't have been so hard on his friends for not knowing exactly what he was going through. They had a good reason to be distracted, with all the stuff Conners been putting them through. I think he needs more help than they can give him, and Elizabeth needs some support. As for her and Evan, I think he is exactly what she needs right now. Evan is a great guy, and I think him and Liz should hook up. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars High School Is NoThInG like This
If high school was THIS dramatic, I'm not sure a lot of us would stay. I know there are laws against kids dropping out and everything, but a normal kids life doesn't involve this much drama. Okay, yeah I'm a cheerleader but my life does NOT revolve around it. And cheerleader's and jock's don't control my school. You're personality control's who you are and what you're thought of, not you're head cheerleading position or whatever. In this book, Will trys to get revenge at Ken for "taking his life" away from him. And Jade, of course, try's to get Evan's attention. I'm not dissing the series by saying it's a little over dramatic.. I happen to own all of the books out right now (1-28). I'm just saying it's a little out there. But, then again, that's what some of us high schooler's are looking for. Someone with a more dramatic live than ours.. and proof that not everything is always perfect like the media-driven society thinks it is.

4-0 out of 5 stars Really Enjoyed This Book
Well this book kind of moves slow in the begining, but it really starts to pick up. Ken finally woke up and came to his senses, and I was really happy for him at the end of this book. I really hope that Ken and Maria get back together. Melissa is still purley evil, but she kind of gets what is coming to her in this book. Will also came to a realization, and I actually kind of liked him at the end of the book, although what he tried to do to Ken wasn't right, but he kind of makes up for it. I hope that Will sticks to his promise and doesn't go back to that witch of his ex-girlfriend. I liked what Lila said to Melissa in this book. I wonder if Lila is getting sick of Melissa. Not too much about Jessica in this book. I loved the Evan and Jade storyline, that was extremly good, and I can't wait to read more about them. I kind of felt sorry for Liz in this book.

4-0 out of 5 stars it was ok
I thought this book was going to be boring 'cause it seemed, basically, about Will and he's my one of my least favorite characters to read about. And the last two books had been really boring, namely Straight Up.But I actually liked it;it was funny at some parts, endearing in others,ie:Conner's letter to Tia about Liz.Now I really can't wait for Meant To Be. ... 3-0 out of 5 stars The Magic School bus Gets Programmed--a book about computers
The magic school bus always teaches you lessons while making it exciting and quite zany. In this particular story, they are teaching you how to use computers, how computers work, and also why they are good to know about. The students in Ms. Frizzle's class go on another fieldtrip, this time into a computer. The class wants to find an easy way to do all of their jobs before school starts, so they use the help of a super computer and carlos' brother, Mikey-a very computer savvy person. When they start to program the computer to do their jobs for them, they are in for a surprise. Ms. Frizzle decides the best way for them to learn about the computer I s to actually go inside of the computer. They are then taken on a wild ride in the mind of a super computer. This book teaches about computers, and a good way to learn the hands on way. The book, for younger kids, might be boring because of its length and storyline, but I think it's a good book for children who want to learn about computers. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Meet Alice-you're sure to love her
This book is a good introduction if you've never read an Alice book, and a cute look at Alice before we knew her if you're already a fan. The Alice prequels have an innocent charm similar to that of Beverly Cleary's "Ramona Quimby" books. In this novel, Alice has just moved to Maryland and is starting the third grade. The book begins with Alice listing her likes and dislikes, and we can see the start of the Alice we know and love in this little girl. The book covers a year of her life, showing her early embarrassments and triumphs, some of which are mentioned later on in other books, some brand new. Remember the poem for the milkman ..?.. This is a cute novel that I would recommend to any young girl, whether she's heard of Alice or not.

5-0 out of 5 stars I COULDN'T PUT THE BOOK DOWN!
I've always been interested in reading the "Alice" series, but I just never got around to it. But when I saw this book, that is before the first book but made after the first book, I decided to give it a chance. IT WAS TERRIFIC! I don't know how it affects later books, but it was great. Alice is 8 and in 3rd grade. Her mother died long ago and she lives with her father and older brother. They have just moved to Takoma Park, Maryland. Alice is having trouble making friends. But she soon sees that there are some great parts about her new life. This book was fantastic and I would recommend it and the rest of the series for people who like to read series. Even if you don't like to read series, if you read this book, you will want to keep reading and will soon see that "Starting With Alice" and the rest of the series is terrific.

5-0 out of 5 stars a perfect start for us younger readers!!
I loved this book....I couldn't put it down. Parts of it I read with my mom and she helped explain some things I didn't understand. It made me really appreciate that I have a mom and also I thought it was sad and funny. I can't wait for the next 2 books for younger readers like me!!

5-0 out of 5 stars Absolutely Great
Starting With Alice was one of the best books I've ever read. I liked the way I felt like I was Alice doing the things she did and feeling the way she felt.
Starting With Alice is a book about an eight-year old girl named Alice McKinley. Alice's mother died when Alice was in kindergarten. Her ears pierced and to have long hair are things Alice realy wants, but most of all she wants a mother.
In third grade Alice moves to Maryland, and can't make any frinds excapt Donald Sheavers a boy who lives next door. Once Alice makes a friend they have to worry about these three girls Alice nicknamed "The Terrible Triplets." Alice also does't want Donalds mother as her mom, who seems to have an eye on Alice's dad.
I think that the middle of the book felt long and it dragged, because the same kinds of things kept happening. This made it kind of predictable.
One of the messages it taght me was not to judge people by the way they look.
I hope this books intrests you now. If it doesn't there are other books in the Alice series that are really good too.

5-0 out of 5 stars Alice is Awesome!
I loved this book from the first page, when Alice makes out her list of loves "Felt tipped pens, sixty four colors" and hates "Anything with gravy". From that first page, Naylor creates in Alice the little girl that I remember being, the difficulties of moving from the territory of childhood to pre-adolescence, wanting to be accepted but not wanting to change in order to do so.
This is the first of three prequels to Naylor's Alice series that is incredibly popular with YA girls, yet it works well as a stand alone. I have read a few of the other Alice books and they are great, but this is geared for a younger audience. I believe any young girl could empathize with Alice's trials & tribulations, being called into the principal's office for disregarding the cross-walk guard because she has it "in" for you, as well as rejoice with her triumphs, inviting your peer tormentors to a party and having them show up with gifts!
I think this is an excellent book for kids and their parents, who often forget just how difficult it is to be a kid! ... Read more
