5-0 out of 5 stars Sweet 18
When I saw this book in ......, I quickly bought it and read it right away. We was meeting my boyfriend who was a truck driver so when we got there 45 minutes later, I finished the book because it was so good. I wanted to own all Sweet Valley High Senior Year books. They are the best books I ever read even better than Sweet Valley Junior High!

5-0 out of 5 stars Good
This was a pretty good book. It's mainly about Trent getting into UCLA so his parents buy him a car. After that he starts partying and getting a little carried away with things and there's a big accident in the end. This is also about Jade's Dad deciding not to pay for her college education unless she goes to Oregon. Tia's decided to not go to college next year. There's also a big part about Jessica and Elizabeth. Jessica feels lonely because there's nothing big going on in her life like there is in everybody elses. Elizabeth enters a contest to win a scholarship to a school in England, while Jessica thinks the only good thing in her life right now is that Elizabeth will be going to SVU with her. Jeremy gets an acceptance letter to the University of Arizona which upsets Jessica even more. It was a pretty good book in my opinion.

2-0 out of 5 stars Not worth your $'s
This book isn't all that great. Trent gets accepted into a premed program, so his parents buy him a car, and he starts blowing off schoolwork because "his life is set." Tia and Jeremy keep telling him he's got a problem, he doesn't listen, and at the end of the book he ends up crashing his car into a tree. Yeah, great book.
Jessica's feeling ignored and worthless because nobody thanked her for organizing her parents anniversary party, and then Jeremy tells her he's going to college in Arizona after all.
At the Scope office Liz finds out about a contest for high school seniors to win a scholarship to some school in England, so she decides to enter. She writes a story about the European music scene (or something like that) with the help of her little whipping boy Jeff. Then Liz feels guilty because Jess tells her how happy she is that they'll be going to SVU together. This whole storyline is pointless, really, because we all know Liz ends up at SVU anyway. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Outstanding Gift for Girl or Boy
This book is packed with useful info - including fun websites. It also is not a you-must-succeed-by-18 book. Most of us happen upon careers and have limited ideas of careers and no knowledge of how to relate our childhoodinterests to adult pursuits. This book is a thoughtful way to show children10-13 that what they now do and enjoy in school can be something theycontinue to do and to enjoy in their working years. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars IT COULD HAVE BEEN BETTER
I REALLY WASN'T SUPRISED AT ALL BY THE JESSICA AND TRENT THING. CAN'T NONE OF THESE GIRLS STAY SETTLED WITH ONE GUY EXCEPT FOR MELLISA FOX AND THAT BOGGLES MY MIND. AND THE OTHER THING LIZ REALLY NEED A MAN. IT'S KIND OF STRANGE THAT CONNER JUST MOVED ON IN 5 MINUTES AND SHE CAN'T FIND ANYONE. I THINK SHE SHOULD FIND A GUY AND CONNER SHOULD BE JEALOUS BECAUSE HE PUT THAT POOR GIRL THROUGH SO MUCH AND JUST STEPPED ON HER.

5-0 out of 5 stars better than the rest

She is living uo to my expectations. please do not discontinue this series because it is the best one yet i am a writer myself and i tend to try to imitate Ms.Pascal.

3-0 out of 5 stars Don't worry, I won't give anything away
This was one of those SVH books that made me wonder why I even bother reading the series. I knew there'd be a cliff hanger, which there was since on Sweetvalley.com #33 is still shown as the most recently published book.
All I can say is don't worry if the troubled couples will prevail in the end. It's teen fiction. You know they will. So don't expect any surprises -- or real life, however you want to put it -- to make an appearance in this series. This book was so fake because everytime someone falls into some other melodramatic storyline, it's because they always storm out of the room before the person they're angry at can explain themself.
What you should look forward to is Liz getting a new boyfriend soon enough. In one of the 1st person narratives, she hints at being ready to have another relationship. THAT'S what everyone should be anxious to see in the next book, not the people on the cover.

3-0 out of 5 stars One of the least interesting of SVH senior year...
This book had three subplots. One was about Jessica and Trent having chemistry, and the implications while planning Jeremy's surprise party. Another was Maria having issues about her schoolwork and somewhat neglecting Ken. The last was Alanna making Conner meet her parents. I found this book to be one of the least funny and entertaining of all of the senior year series. I hope the next book is up to normal standards. ... Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars Sadly this is a box set
I was very excited that a new Alice book was out. I jumped up and down and begged my big sis to drive me to the store pronto to get it. It wasn't there so we ordered it off of amazon and I was SUPER dissapointed when I found out that this was a box set of books I had already. I am giving this box set 3 stars because I don't know what to put. If you have never read the first 4 books then by all means get this box set, but if you have already read them don't bother.

5-0 out of 5 stars Box Set of First Alice Books
I bought this thinking it was a new book in the Alice series. Sadly, it wasn't but it's a great deal for beginning "Alice" readers. It is a box set of the first four books in the series. Titles included are: "The Agony of Alice", "Alice in Rapture, Sort Of", "Reluctantly Alice", and "All But Alice". For only about $...this is a great price if you don't already have these books. Just don't make the same mistake I did and get your hopes up for a brand new book when it's just the oldies.

5-0 out of 5 stars I love the alice series
I love the alice series. I have read every book. I thought that this was a new book and I just wanted to tell everyone that it really is a book set. 5-0 out of 5 stars A Twisted Side
I personly liked the book very much,It added a twist so thatit did'nt get borring . Example, Liz finds conner & Tia in bed together , Conner starts drinking , Andy Breaks up with six , Andy's Thinks He Might Be [homosexual] ,Jeremy Hooks Up With Jade , Jessica gets Jealous , And A interesting thing Happens to will and Evan.*And another good point, Melissais not Mentioned alot* Its filled with suspense , and action .Its a awesome MUST read book!

4-0 out of 5 stars What do we know?
In this book, Tia thinks she has "feelings" for Conner. The question is: does she really start to like Conner in "that way" or is she just missing Angel. This book, just like the other books in this series, gives a twisting turn to something that started out NOT complicated. Also, do we know that Conner has feelings for Tia? Not in this book. Another problem in the book has to do with Andy. Yes, finally Andy has a problem! Andy is feeling confused about his situation. He is allowed to be confused. It's not stupid that the author of this book decided to give Andy a problem of his own. Everyone else always has problems and they always go to Andy. Let Andy go to them with his own problem for once. Now, about Jessica, its normal (for her) to be kinda jealous about Jade & Jeremy. Since when did Jade want to work at HOJ? Jess was just starting to put her life back together and Jade is kind of making it hard for her by having Jeremy following her (Jade) around the place. Last but not least we come to Elizabeth. Liz has a right to be completely upset and angry at Conner and Tia. How would a normal person feel if she walked into her friends room and found her friend and her boyfriend laying down next to e/other- early in the morning? Ok, ok, I'll stop telling the readers exactly what happens in the book, so I'll leave you with this.

5-0 out of 5 stars Book 17 in SVH Senior Year Series
After catching Conner McDermott and Tia Ramirez in bed together in the previous book ("Three Girls and a Guy"), Elizabeth Wakefield is ready to call it quits with Conner--and Tia, for that matter--not that I blame her.

While these three are in a major turmoil, Jeremy Aames hits it off well with the new House of Java employee, Jade Wu, to Jessica Wakefield's dismay, even though Jeremy and Jess have been broken up for weeks now. Jade also seems to bringing the unruly side of him out, which may or may not be a good thing, especially when she almost gets him in trouble at work.

Most of the emphasis in "Backstabber" is on Conner, Tia, and Elizabeth. That's all well and good (though I'm disliking Conner more and more with each new book), but what happened to another big issue at hand: Andy Marsden's being gay, which was revealed in the previous book? That didn't go into depth at all here, just a couple journal entries by him. I'm still surprised that such a topic would be brought up in a Sweet Valley book, but it's a storyline I really look forward to watching unfold, especially since Andy's one of my favorite characters.

4-0 out of 5 stars A Good Buy!
I personally feel that this book it's worth a buy this is because the author finally give us some answers which have kept us in suspense almost everytime on the other series.Like the one between Tia and Conner who think that they might have feelings for each another. As for Jeremy i felt that the author has finally gave the poor guy a chance after being dump by Jessica for Will he finally might find someone that he really like and worth liking too.Anyway thumbs up to the author for creating this series.I'll definitely recommend all this to my other Malaysian friends.

4-0 out of 5 stars this book was good ,but a little dissapointing
in this book tia , finds out she has other feeligs for conner. if you read #16 (3 girls and a guy) you will know why everyone is soticked off at tia and conner. also andy starts to question his sexuality.this wasn't talked about alot in the book. jade and jermey start being really close and jessica is annoyed and jealous.i like this book especially the last chapeter. ... 4-0 out of 5 stars pretty cool...
overall this book was pretty good. melissa's goin through tough times again as will cheats on her AGAIN, this time w/ the "coolest person 2 ever walk the halls of el carro high," erika brooks. her supposed "friends" aren't there 4 her and will's bein a total [jackass]. jessica's the only one who's concerned bout her eventhough melissa's been nothin but a btch 2 her. she constantly tries 2 talk 2 her, even tries 2 enlist lila's help in seein what's wrong w/ her, and in the end jessica sacrifices her night 2 help out melissa. i thought that that was VERY cool of jessica. i know if someone had treated me the way melissa fox had treated jessica, i'd probably just sit back and laugh in melissa's face. but, anyways, this book was pretty cool.

4-0 out of 5 stars Best of Enemies
Well I think the book was good, melisa is having difficult times after will cheated on her with ERIKA BROOKS !! she is trying to make him jelous by going to the dance with some other guy, and she gets drunk and makes a fool of herself. jessica wakefield helps Melisa and takes her home even though Melissa has made her life almost imposible, but in the end is worth it.

4-0 out of 5 stars best of enemies
I thought this was a really good book. i feel bad for melissa because will is [weak] for cheating on her with erika brooks, who is just trying to live her glory days again through him. she doesn't even act like she likes him... jessica really surprised me when she helps her out. it really shows how much jessica has changed for the better this year and i think alot of it has to do with jeremy.

4-0 out of 5 stars go jessica
... anyeway , this was a really good book. melissa finds will cheating on her , on valentines day !, then mellissa tries to make him jealous or upset or whatever by goin out w/ a nother guy. but she gets drunk and makes a fool of herself! but this whole time , jessica was tryin to help mellissa, even though melissa was so mean to her. you should read this book, its really good!

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Book
First Conner dies in a tragic cow accident. Tia moves to Maine, and marries a Hobo named Richard and has 7 kids, all named Randy. Liz and Jessica can't fight their feelings for eachother and decided to marry eachother even though they're twin sisters. Jeremy's jealous of Jade and decides to marry Evan after he got in a comma because he got hit with a tennis ball. Will decides he's in love with Andy and they move to somewhere in Alaska. Melissa turns into a fairy princess and grants maria three wishes. That's about it! Wonderful book! ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Awesome
I thought this one kind of gave a break from the same old Liz/Conner stories. Apparenlty, it really is over for them, so we'll all just have to deal with it. This one let us see other issues, like Liz's internship and Ken's scholarhsip decision. I especially liked the Ken and Maria scenes. Overall, I thought it was a really good one.

3-0 out of 5 stars Didn't we read this before?
When I read the book about Elizabeth's internship,it somehow reminded me about Sweet Valley High when she got another internship. The plot's about the same.
And I really wish that Will just dump Melissa for good,he deserves someone better than her.
Only Jessica's attitude in the book kept me reading the book.

3-0 out of 5 stars Pathetic
I think this book was seriously boring..i haven't had a chance to read Road Trip yet but only because my local book store is lacking in their so called quest to supply us....but anyway i think Will just needs to dump Melissa, she's screwed up too many times and all she ever does is hurt people, including himself..Ken never did anything to her but yet she continues to beat him up on things that don't apply to her. As for Maria, she needs to be there for Ken, but at the same time be there for herself, if she keeps acting like she did in this book shes going to end up hating Ken in the end for 'ruining her life'..as for Jeremy and Jess, they need to stay together..and romance the authors are thinking of throwing in between her and Trent will be totally tiring..i'm sick of jess hoping from man to man..she finally found the 'one'..why cant things just stay that way..i also think conner needs to dump Alana and go back to Liz...there were the bet part of the series...the book i could say lacked because it was 100% CONNER-LESS!

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Book!
This book was better than some of the other new books in the series. Tia gets a boyfriend and Ken makes a choice about a scolarship he didn't earn. Melissa and Will fight and Elizabeth becomes a completely differant person for a while!

4-0 out of 5 stars It was okay
I thought this book was ok, but it lacked alot of action. I guess it's just that what I really want to happen (Conner and Liz getting back together) isn't any closer to happening. But, in this book, you see Trent and Tia starting to date and being all lovey and happy toward each other, and the continuing saga of Ken's bribed scholarship. Also, some things happen with Jade and Evan. And of course, it's about Elizabeth getting really busy doing things for HER that end up hurting other people, and almost ruining some of her friendships. That's about it. It definately wasn't my favorite of the series, but it was okay. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Great- A total change of pace!
This is one of my favorite SV books. It is kinda refreshing to see a whole new side of Liz- i definitely like it(even though I would like to see her get back together w/ todd). There are also a lot new great, dimensional characters. All in all, a fantastic book. I can't wait for the next one. i read this book in about an hour and I'm really wanting #2. Go out and buy it. i promise you won't be disappointed. Feel free to email me if you want to talk about sweet valley or this series. I would love to hear from you!

5-0 out of 5 stars Changes, changes, changes
One thing that negative reviewers should realize is that CHANGE is not always bad! I have read books from the old SVH series, and I definately liked them, but the senior year series is different but cool. Sure, alot of the old characters are gone, like Todd and Olivia, etc. But, let's be open-minded. This series is more realistic, if you ask me. Even fictional characters aren't always going to have a perfect life. Sure Conner is a jerk sometimes, and TOTALLY not Liz's type, but that is the way REAL teenager's minds work. Think about it - just because this beginning-of-a-series is different, doesn't mean that it is bad. This book shows realistic teenage life - complete with real disasters, "romance," and stress, stress, stress. I commend Francine Pascal for creating a more TODAY kind of book. It is awesome, and I am going to read ALL of the SVH Senior Year books!

5-0 out of 5 stars Awesome
Okay here it is in a nutshell. El Carro High got smashed in the quake so they join SVH. Liz meets an obnoxious jerk and starts to crush on him. Meanwhile Jessica meets this "awesome" guy Will Simmons and they seeem perfect for eachother. To bad he has the worst girlfriend in the history of ever. Melissa finds out about the two of them and goes into psychotic-frenzy mode. Overall an awesome book.

5-0 out of 5 stars The start of an addiction...
Okay, when I first picked up this book four years ago I wasn't sure what to expect. I was an avid Sweet Valley High fan - still am, of course! - but this book seemed so different from its predecessor. The cover was different, the blurb was different, the model was different... the entire feel of Sweet Valley High had changed. And I wasn't totally sure how I felt about that. However, I bought it and decided to give it a go; and now I am SO glad I did.
Certainly, the Sweet Valley High we once knew and still love is gone; replaced by a more realistic version. Elizabeth and Jessica are no longer the Blonde Wonder Twins, but twin sisters with real teenage problems. Liz can't get used to her new life at the Fowler's, and Jess has fallen hard for one of the new El Carro students, who is almost too perfect to be true. Along the way we are introduced to some new faces, such as Tia, Andy, Conner, Angel and Evan... but at the same time we lose some of the favorites, such as Winston, Enid, Robin and Maria Santelli. Of course, this only shows us just how much Sweet Valley High has changed - and, after reading this book, in my opinion it's a change for the better. The old SVH was great, but "Can't Stay Away" is a book in which its readers can actually relate to. I reccommend it to any Sweet Valley fan or hater; it's definitely worth a read.

3-0 out of 5 stars Senior Year is Here!
Jessica and Liz are entering their senior year and though the earthquake is over their school is about to be shooken up by the arrival of the new students from El Carro High who's school was demolished by the quake.
We have Melissa over here looking at Will with an adoring eye while the other watches Jessica with a snake like venom.
Jessica is oblivious though to the girl's obsessive glare. She's to busy stalking handsome El Carro student Will out as her prey.
Elizabeth meanwhile is obsessing over a guy in her Creative writing class.
Surly Conner dresses like he got his clothes out of a garbage can-and his attitude reeks like one. What girl couldn't resist a boy who spits and snarls like a caged animal (swoon-not!)
How Elizabeth could be physically attracted to this jerk is beyond me. Stephen King couldn't have created a scarier character!
In this book Jessica and Elizabeth get themselves in jams that can't be fixed by having perfectly glossed lips and a perfect smile-can they survive Senior Year?
Find out what happens when J&E's school gets turned upside down by the newcomer's!

This series isn't my favorite. I prefer SVU but too pass time I might read a few more then the five I've read but there are many books ahead on that list and this series seems to get too bogged down in situations that take forever to get resolved. It may be more realistic but I prefer the sugar frosting world of Sweet Valley High Junior year where there's a lot more action and it's not so grim as this series. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Conner and Liz or Conner and Alanna?
Liz annoys me in this book. Throughout the book she is convinced that Conner still has feelings for her, but at the end when Conner goes after Alanna Liz goes home and realizes that she and Conner do not make a good couple. Please! She's probably only thinking this because Conner just ditched her for Alanna. If he hadn't done that she would have been all over him, but I don't exactly blame her ;) However, I did like the parts in the book where Todd and Conner both seemed a little jealous that Liz was with Jeff.

The Aaron/Melissa plot is really good. Also, I laughed at the name of the band Alanna and her mother went to see, "Boy Toy". Is that a real boy band?

I rate this book four stars only because I didn't care too much for the Jeremy/Trent plot. That was just boring.

5-0 out of 5 stars Make up your mind, Elizabeth!
Elizabeth is together with her new boyfriend Jeff and happy with him (am I the only person who thinks Liz and Jeff are perfect for each other?!) when Conner and Alanna break up. Elizabeth is Conner's friend so she spends some time with him and realizes she still has feelings for him. She is torn between Jeff and Conner and spends the whole book trying to make up her mind. An interesting angle is that Jeff saw what was going on. The subplot was Trent and Jeremy making up from all the trouble caused in the book Troublemaker. I loved this book!

5-0 out of 5 stars He's Back
This book was one of the best books in a long time. I read it in like a hour. Here's what happens:

Elizabeth becomes friends with Conner. She starts to think that she still may have feelings for him. Conner, though only thinks of Elizabeth as a friend. When Elizabeth is over at Conner's house Alanna comes over to apologize to Conner and sees Elizabeth. She gets mad and runs away. Conner, of course, runs after her and he cant catch up with her. I think he should have left her. I was hoping that Conner and Liz would get back together. I hate Alanna. She doesnt deserve him.

Alanna's mom tries to start spending time with alanna so she takes her shopping, a day spa, and a really lame boy band concert. She relizes that conner is the best thing she has so she goes over to his house to tell hime that. when she goes over there she sees liz at his house and freaks out.

Jeremy starts missing his best friend. Trent tries to apologize to Jeremy but every time Jeremy sees Trent he gets mad all over again so he wont forgive him. Later Trent hurts his foot and they make-up!

I hope i didnt give away to much!!! I really like this book and recomend this book and the whole svhsy series!

5-0 out of 5 stars Liz and Conner
I'm pretty sure that everyone wants to see Liz and Conner together. I thought that this book would end with Liz and Conner kissing. Conner and Liz where one of the best things in the series. Alanna doesnt deserve Conner. She's lied to him, sumped him when he did a nice thing, and drinks. I hope Alanna goes back to rehab for a year.

5-0 out of 5 stars good
this was a good book. i just really wanted connor and liz to get back together. i really hate alanna. i don't even care for jeff that much. liz needs to get with conner or todd but not jeff. i did think it was cool how conner and liz were talking again and acting just like they did when she lived with him. especially playing scrabble. i also liked that part because alanna got her feelings hurt. poor baby. i want some stories about maria and ken or jess and jeremy before the series is over still. are we even going to hear anything about winston egbert or maria santelli or any of the old gang? probably in the last book. anyway all these books are good and i hate to see the series end but i think it's getting close. i also wish she would of kept writing SVU books. i mean we need to know who the twins marry and what they become after they graduate college. i think i'm a little too involved in these books or something. anyway SVHSY is the best series ever written and everybody should read it. ... There are some weird grownups in Baily City. But could the short construction workers building the school playground really be a bunch of elves working on a secret present? THe Bailey School Kids Are Going To Find Out!

5-0 out of 5 stars Elves Don't Wear Hard Hats
This book is about kids that wanted a new playground. They had to share the swing. One day the construction worker came to build a new playground. One of the workers came in the room during class and asked what the kids wanted in their new playground. Well, this is a very good book and I think you should read it. I feel like reading more Bailey School kids book.

5-0 out of 5 stars Mary Anne comes out of her shell...
This is book number eight in the series.

In this installment, Mary Anne, Cokie, and some other people are on the yearbook commitee at school. The school nominated categories are being updated this year- so in addition to all the categories like best dressed and most likely to succeed, they have other categories like Most Artistic and Most Likely to Be Seen in Hollywood. Cokie, unfortunately, sabotages the votes so that she and her friends will get all the categories to themselves. Mary Anne and Abby figure this out, though, and go to the vice-principal to get a recount.

Cokie, furious (as always), spreads a rumor around the school that Mary Anne begged Logan to take her back, sending him e-mail messages and hundreds of messages on his answering machines. Logan, reportedly, had said 'no, there is another girl, and I don't like you any more'. This isn't true, and Mary Anne and the BSC get Cary Retlin to help them think up a way to pay her back just in time for the huge party that Cokie's throwing.

Mary Anne's dad grounds Mary Anne just before the party, so Mary Anne sneaks out and arrives there, where she tells the truth to Cokie once and for all- that Cokie's a brat that no one likes and that even though she thinks that telling lies about other people will make her seem cool, they don't.

Mary Anne finally gets over her nightmares, and learns that her dad had recently been experiencing the same flashbacks to the night of the fire.

A good book, and a lot more serious and realistic than the original BSC series.

5-0 out of 5 stars good job mary anne
I LOVE THIS BOOK ! I love how Mary Anne stands up for herself in this book and I like the "new" Mary Anne she doesn't jump into a fight but she doesn't cry she stand up for herself I liked the Logan-Mary Anne-couple but it was the best for them both but if Logan can't treat her right as a girlfriend I hope they can be friends and I hope Mary Anne finds the right guy soon! I love the BSC friends forever series it's more realistic and I hope to see more soon! by the way Mary Anne is my favorit charaster! *KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK*

4-0 out of 5 stars Sweet Revenge
Here's the deal. MaryAnne, as you know, has broken up with Logan. Cokie is still after Logan, and she's also still attacking MaryAnne (you know what I mean).

Both MaryAnne and Cokie are on the yearbook team, or whatever you call it (I read this a few days ago). Cokie is in charge, and she's most enthusiastic about the parts like "Most sporty", "Most likely to be seen in Beverly Hills", etc. Cokie is convinced that she fits in most of this categories, and is being mean to MaryAnne, spreading rumours and everything.

MaryAnne teams up (sort of) with Cary Retlin to get her revenge on Cokie. But in the end...
It really is Sweet Revenge. Read it and find out. The Real New MaryAnne is much better than the Old MaryAnne or the Not Good New MaryAnne. Hope you liked this review.Br

5-0 out of 5 stars Yo go girl!
By far this is the best book in the bscff series. Mary Annedefinately proved she not just meek shy girl always behind someone todefend her. This time that punk Cokie finally was cut down to size, by Mary Anne. First Cokie made fun her by her big breakup with Logan, then lied about Logan saying that she begged him to get back with him. Also said he going with another girl{which was true}, then she sabotaged the yearbook ballots! . That's when Mary Anne did her own scheming as well, along with the BSC's rival, Cary.In this book you could see Mary Anne try on new attitudes and maturing from the old quiet Mary Anne! She even snuck out of her house! Now that's major improvement! Also in this book Mary Anne and her parents settled long overdue conflicts.Mary Anne has proven herself to Logan, BSC, Cokie, the whole school,... and herself that she is here and here to stay!

5-0 out of 5 stars A Wonderful Book
I have always loved the books on Mary Ann. I am, like Mary Ann, also very shy and sensitive. After reading this book I walked away feeling braver and stronger. I love the new Mary Ann because she is not only her caring old self but also a new more confident person. This book is really an insperation. It also shows you that when you belive in yourself, with a little help from your friends, you can do anything. This book is a true treasure. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Gremlins!
There are some weird grownups in Bailey City. But could the substitute school secretary really be a gremlin messing up the electricity. the Bailey School Kids Are Going To Find Out!

5-0 out of 5 stars Reading specialist uses the complete set of these readers
I am a children's reading specialist and author (Teaching Kids To Read for Dummies).I use these short chapter books with kids who have mastered three or four sentences per page type books and are ready for more. When your child reads one book in the Bailey School Kids series you can be pretty sure she'll want to read the rest.

4-0 out of 5 stars What's up with the hair?
What's up with the hair? That's Melody's question when she first meets Miss Kidwell.Miss Kidwell has come to Bailey School and is causing total chaos.First the lights, then the school bell. What next, the FATS building? After Miss Kidwell has caused Eddie's plane to attack, Melody's watch to stop working and the school bus horn to play the tune Rain, Rain, Go Away , the four friends must stop Miss Kidwell from distroying the town of Bailey. But how?Their fearless nerve keeps the friends from giving up on eliminating the Gremlin. Dadey and Thornton team up to once again provide us with another zainy title in their collection of Bailey School Kids books. The series helps to motivate some chlidren to pick up a book by captivating them with the idea that maybe the folks in the school office, the janitor, the teachers or even the school nurse are not who they seem to be. The text and organization of the chapters flow well.Chapter titles help us gain foresight into what is to come.Students in the suggested age range should find it a good read.

4-0 out of 5 stars there's a gremlin in the works!
Gremlins were first discussed during World War II when British planes mysteriously stopped working. It was said that a little magical creature with a taste for messing up mechanical and electrical things was tinkering about and causing mischief in the plane. If that's the case, a gremlin wouldn't bother with Bailey Elementary School, and she CERTAINLY wouldn't chew bubble gum...WOULD SHE??

Welcome to "lucky" number 13 in the Bailey School Kids series. If you've been following their strange and sometimes creepy adventures, you'll know that the 3rd grade teacher may be a vampire, a genie once moved in next door to the school, a werewolf may have been the camp counselor, and even Santa Claus himself may have been the school custodian! That is, if you happen to believe in that sort of thing...

This time, Ms. Kidwell has come to substitute for the school secretary.Once there, odd things seem to happen whenever she chews her bubble gum.The lights go out, the fire bell goes haywire, the clocks stop working. What's REALLY odd-and kind of creepy-is that every time something electrical goes on the fritz, a new charm appears on Ms. Kidwell's charm bracelet!!Is it possible she's a gremlin come to play around with the school's electrical systems?

The Bailey School Kids series is a fast-paced one where strange, odd and sometimes creepy things are always happening.Children who are even reluctant readers are enjoying them because of their subject matter (weird, often supernatural creatures who seem to appear in everyday settings-gremlins chewing gum, cupid flipping hamburgers, witches doing backflips, etc etc etc)-and because of the quick, snappy comebacks that are always flying back and forth between the characters. As an adult, I can finish one of these in about 15-20 minutes and have found myself reading as many as I can lay my hands on.While they may not be pillars of Western Literature, if they inspire your child to read, then read on!!

4-0 out of 5 stars enjoyable reading
My daughter has read almost all of the Bailey Schoolseries. She says that this is not her favorite Bailey School Kidsbook, but she liked it. The Bailey School Kids series is a great way for parents to get reluctant readers to enjoy reading. You may find your child begging you to buy another one, as I did. ... Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars Todd and Megan
What is up with that? The whole point of that whole thing is because Todd wants Liz and is trying to make her jealous. Conner and Alanna - ewww. Why did Pascal even have to put Alanna in there? Jessica and Jeremy belong together. They should rewrite SV University with Jeremy in it. Peace Out

4-0 out of 5 stars Control Freak
Conner needs to forget about Alanna. He tries to help her and all she can do is dump him? She always gets mad at him for no reason then go cries to him and he takes her back. CONNER NEEDS TO LEARN THAT ALANNA DOESNT DESERVE HIM AND THAT LIZ IS WAY MUCH BETTER. The book good so i would recomend u buy it if u read all the others.

4-0 out of 5 stars Not Bad
Well I thought that this book was actually pretty good. Although there was way too much Conner and Alana in this book, especially too much Alana. There were several times in this book where I wanted to yell shutup at Conner, I just don't understand why he has any friends. I hope that Elizabeth never takes this jerk back, especially with the way he treated her in this book and in the others. I would've liked to have read more about Maria and Ken. I was kind of surprised with what happened to Maria, let's just say that I was expecting more to happen, I think that the author quickly wrapped up this storyline too soon. The Jessica/Trent/Tia/Jeremy storyline was kind of annoying, but it gets better near the end, I hope that the author won't go down this road again. I was also kind of hoping to read more about Meagan and Todd.

4-0 out of 5 stars pretty good
This book is up to the usual SVH senioryear quality, but I was a little disappointed because I was hoping for more about Elizabeth. When is she going to get a new boyfriend and forget about Conner? For those of you who have always hated Conner, there's a nice part where he gets a little of what's due to him.

4-0 out of 5 stars Too Much Conner!
This book was OK,except that there was way too muchConner and Alanna in it. Conner seriously needs to get a grip. He can't live everyone's life for them. Alanna seriously HAS to get some seriuos help SOON! She's got a bad enough life already- stop drinking, honey. Remember all those headaches and the naeusa? I don't think you want to live that every day! Her parents are HUGE liars- Alanna is just a Straight-F girl who's got serious drinking problems. They've gotta learn to face that and GET RID OF THAT ALCOHOL! Those people just don't know (or care)what's good for Alanna. Megan can date Todd if she wants to- Conner can't control her life. Elizabeth has to get a boyfriend sooner or later, and I hope it's Conner. That boy needs to get Alanna out of his life for good! ... Read more

One day while Andrew was at pre school there was a robbery at Karen's mom's apartment so when Karen found out so she wanted to find the burgler. So she sent out to find the burgler. Meanwhile she meant a person named Matt and Karen thought that he was the bugler. But then one day Karen talked to Matt and come to find out he was working on the same case. So they teemed up to find the burgler. My opinion of the book is I liked how the creators teamed up and did detective work to find the burgler. If you want to find out more information and who was the burgler read this book KARENS BIG CITY MYSTERY.

5-0 out of 5 stars The best kids' book I've ever read
I'm only 12, but this is the best book of the hundreds I've read. Alice McKinley's aunt reminds her that she's almost 13 and will be Woman of the House soon. (Her mother died when she was four.) Alice gets a head start on her womanhood by cleaning the entire house, having her father and brother get physical checkups, and throwing a birthday bash for her father's fiftieth birthday. Besides that, she must survive the latest crisis at school: the boys are matching the girls' chest sizes with a state according to its mountains' heights! Perspective yet hilarious! My favorite book ever until the next Alice book comes out

5-0 out of 5 stars My First Alice Book
"Alice in April" was the first Alice book I ever read, and encouraged me to read the rest of the series. This book takes place in the spring of Alice's seventh grade year, and deals with some more serious issues than some of the previous books. There is still a lot of the trademark Alice humor, especially between her and Lester. (You'll love their April Fool's pranks!) In "Alice in April" Alice is reminded (by Aunt Sally, of course) that she'll soon be Woman of the House, and have the responsibilities that go with that position. Alice takes her new role seriously: she has the ducts cleaned, suggests everyone go to the doctor (including herself) and throws a surprise birthday for her dad. This Alice book has some serious issues in it, but plenty of funny moments, too. I would highly reccomend this novel to any Alice fan.

5-0 out of 5 stars Alice in April
Naylor's style of writing is much like Judy Blume, in which it draws you in and you ache, laugh and sympthasize with the character. With every "Alice" book, it feels like you get to know a friend. I'm sure every girl can relate to the everyday things she has to go to. Because the Alice series is so realistic, each time a new installment is realeased, you get the feeling that you're just learning new stuff about an old friend.

This insallment of the series is a little less chirpy, like past might have been. Gone are the silly 6th grade "what will I wear?!" chrisis that everyone can probably relate to. Now, it's about becoming woman of the house, and dealing with deeper problems. For example, Alice encounters a loner. She invites her to her dad's party and they start a bond. Well, just a few days later [I haven't read the book in 2+ years so forgive me!], the friend commits suicide, and in comes the feelings of "I could've done this...It's my fault".

A solid book for kids of most ages.

5-0 out of 5 stars Frances's review for Alice in April
This book is about how Alice gets used to being the woman of the house. When she finds out that a man docter is going to examin her she starts to freak out but then reilizes that it isn't so bad. The boys are naming girls after states according to how big their breasts are. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Good Book About Friendship and Camping
I really enjoyed this book. Abby meets a new friend - a fun, enthusiastic girl named Hannah. Abby invites Hannah along on her family's camping trip. However, Abby worries about whether Hannah will be able to survive a week with the sometimes crazy Hayes family. This is a fun story to read, and Abby's worries about her family embarassing her in front of Hannah are very realistic. However, there's one REALLY unrealistic thing. In the first book, it's summertime, and Abby's entering fifth grade, and her teacher is going to be Ms. Kantor. This book is the summer after that, and the book says she's going into Ms. Kantor's fifth-grade class.

5-0 out of 5 stars GREAT NEW START FOR ABBY!
This book was the 11th book in the Abby Hayes series. Even though this was the third summer she was in and the second start of school, it was still great. Since Jessica is away at Oregon, Abby decides to invite a new girl she sees at the pool who will be in her class, Hannah, to go camping with the Hayeses for the 4th of July. Hannah agrees but soon, Abby is trying to make her family promise to be normal. They do, but when they get to the campsite, everything turns crazy, from no reservations to too much blueberries to getting lost in the forest! All in all, Abby and Hannah have a great time. The bad part was the beginning was confusing because it said that they were going to watch fireworks at the campsite but now they were going to the pool and it was jest really confusing. Still, buy this great book today!

5-0 out of 5 stars THE GREATEST BOOKS EVER
This book was the bomb! I really liked her journal entries but she wrote in black print instead of purple!!!

5-0 out of 5 stars GOOD BOOK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
It's summer. Abby's kinda lonely at this point because Jessica is on another coast. Bethany and Natalie seem to show more of an interest in each other being friends than Abby. So Abby's upset. That's when on July 4, she goes to a little get together park thing when she meets Hannah. Hannah is really nice and always has a smile for everyone and everything. So Abby decides to invite her on her family camping trip. But later, she starts to regret it. Who can survive an entire week camping with the Hayes family? So Abby makes sure her family "behaves". The camping trip starts out okay, with berry-picking, swimming, and even a motor boat ride by Brianna, who was staying on an island near their campsite. Then Abby's dad decides to lead Abby, Alex, and Hannah out for a hike. Can you say DISASTER???? They get lost in a thunderstorm and soaked in the rain. That's when Abby's SURE that Hannah is never going to speak to her again after the trip's over. Will they get rescued and will Hannah and Abby become bffs? (best friends forever) Find out in Too Close For Comfort. Also, at the end, there's a special treat, a sneak peek at the twelvth Abby Hayes Book, Big Things Come in Small Packages. So look for number 12, and read number 11 to find out what happens when a simple camping trip, goes wet and soggy. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars gr8 book!
i believe that this book is the best one in the series, for finally there are some new, and IMPROVED changes. I think that this books changes were good. such as Stacey's mom getting a new job, Staceys dad getting married (as a matter of fact, i was glad that Stacey didn't get mad at her dad, as dawn did in previous books, u know?) so just read it cuz it's really good and if ure a Stacey lover this is a MUST READ!

5-0 out of 5 stars One of the best yet!
This book was really good. I liked the way how Ann M. Martin didn't focus really much to baby-sitting and how she created some human problems. A great job you're doing, Ann, and keep up the good work!

Her brothers and sisters don't look up to her anymore, and Vanessa's mad at Mallory because she wasn't there for her brothers and sisters when they needed help. While Stacey's mom is sad by the news, she has something else on her mind. Read this book and find out what!

Looks like she's going to have to round up her friends and do some serious planning! But do there plans make the situation better or a disater? Uh-oh. ... Read more
