Like all good Anglicans, the Teletubbies aren't letting Christmas go unobserved. One day in the strange and wonderfully surreal place that is Teletubbyland, a beautiful Christmas tree pops into existence. And then--"Ping! Ping! Ping! Ping!"--four gifts magically appear on the tree. Hmmm... four presents, four Teletubbies--why, there must be one for Tinky Winky, one for Dipsy, one for Laa-Laa, and one for Po. Sure enough, the Tubbies shake each of their color-coordinated boxes with a "jingle, jangle" before opening them to see what they've received. Needless to say, trademark Tele-hilarity ensues. Big, glossy illustrations (meticulously faithful to the popular BBC series) accompany text adapted from the original TV scripts by Andrew Davenport. Bye-bye. (Baby to preschool)--Paul Hughes ... 4-0 out of 5 stars Fun for tubbie fans
Our 3 and 5 year old girls both loved this book, although the 5 year old found it disconcerting that words were changed from what she knew from the t.v. show. The pictures helped the 3 year old follow along, and after 2 readings she could "read" it herself, telling the story from the pictures. A good book for small tubbie fans, and not so small ones too :) ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Again, again!
My four year old got this from a friend as a Christmas gift. Although the story-with-a-twist is ridiculously simple for adults, my daughter wanted me to read it aloud "again, again." It has quickly become one of her favorite bedtime books.

5-0 out of 5 stars This Little Review
This is my daughter Hannah's first Teletubby book and she enjoys "mimicking" each Teletubby as we "read" the book together. She particularly enjoys Laa-laa's funny way of hiding the custard that she's eating. Now, it does not matter if the book is dog-eared and torn, because Hannah knows the book by heart! She'll be two on July 19, 2000. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Get creative and make this book even more fun
This book is great. You MUST laminate the teletubbies though. To make it more fun, use your own cardboard to make some tubby toast (I made colored toast to match each tubby), and make an extra teletubby cutout and paste a photo of your child on it. Really adds to the fun.

5-0 out of 5 stars Amazing entertainment value
I was skeptical about whether this book would go over well with my kids (18 months and 3) and I surely didn't need to worry! they LOVE it. They play with it many times a day and never seem to tire of it - esp. putting the Teletubbies to bed. I [would suggest] laminating the Teletubbies - that is a must since they are flimsy cardboard and will dissolve if put in the mouth (which of course is the first thing my daughter did). My 3 year old likes to play with them even without the book and puts them in his trucks and walks them around etc. I am amazed how much they enjoy this book and how it never seems to bore them.

3-0 out of 5 stars cut outs are a pain
When I ordered this book, I just wanted a simple storybook to read to my Teletubbie-obsessed 17 month old. I didn't realize there would be cut outs of the Teletubbies which one must insert into slots in each page in order to properly read the story. The worst part about this is that on most of the pages the slots are poorly designed- they are too small to fit the cut outs and one must struggle and force them in (tearing them in the process). Of course, my son is too young to play with the cut outs himself, but I can't imagine even an older child doing it. That said, my son absolutely loves this book- as it is big and bright and colorful and he loves when the Teletubbies go down the slide and get into their beds. I just wish it were better designed and that the cutouts were an added option, because except on one page where there is a picture of Tinky Winky, it is Teletubbieless unless you use the cut outs. **UPDATE**: Well, after only a couple of weeks, the cut outs were completely ruined: dogeared, torn and taped back together. I considered buying another book even though I hate it so much. My husband said we should get the cut outs laminated this time, which was another readers suggestion (the publishers really should do this, not the consumer, but I guess they sell more books this way if you have to buy a new one every two weeks)...

5-0 out of 5 stars The Happy Day (aka Many, Many Happy Day's)
This book has been a favorite for both our children around 18 months. We are on our third copy. This could have been avoided had we learned from our first and second mistake of not laminating the tubbie punch outs. The poor things get all dogeared, torn, etc. Hopefully third times a charm and they will hold up with this extra support. (Or maybe for the weary parent its a good thing when they finally wear out, because as we all know "again, again" is a motto of these little guys.)

5-0 out of 5 stars Do I Have To Read This Again?
While I, as the mom, might find this book (and all Teletubbie products) excruciatingly boring and banal, my kids LOVE this book.

Taking the Teletubbie creatures through their Happy Day provides (seemingly) endless amusement for both my 1 1/2-year-old daughter and 3 1/2-year-old son. The page with the slide is the most popular; I have to believe there is some hand/eye/spacial skill to be learned here. Putting the Teletubbies to bed is also a favorite activity and an opportunity to do some color matching.

While I cringe every time (10 times a day) my kids bring me this book, and I often feel compelled to inflict pain on Tim Jacobus, we just ordered a replacement copy as our original is dilapidated and LaLa is missing (don't ask!). ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Great touch and feel book
My 18-month-old daughter LOVES this book. Especially the page with the ball on it. Even though it is short, she makes me read it to her over and over again. Actually, I'm pretty glad it is short! LOL

3-0 out of 5 stars Too short but....
Although this book is very short, shorter than the other TT books, my 1yr old loves the touch and feel sections. The book is physically tough and he "reads" it by himself (...)

2-0 out of 5 stars too short
This book is way too short. It's only really about 6 pages long. Also, the infamous "bag" is OK with me, other cultures and/or homosexuality don't bother me... but it sticks to the opposite page which makes page turning difficult at times. Overall, I'd say your money is better spent elsewhere unless you have a kid who is crazy about teletubbies (mine really isn't, but then again, my kid's only 8 months old).

5-0 out of 5 stars We Love This Book!
One day, Dipsy finds a telescope. Who all does he see? All his friends in Teletubbyland, of course! This touch-and-feel book is virtually indestructable! My 18 month old has read and re-read it since Christmas and it still appears brand new. "The Majic Telescope" book is very well made and very well written for little ones. With an average of 10 words per open page, this book is able to hold a toddler's interest. The illustrations are wonderful as well, with beautiful bright colors to intrigue children (and maybe even help them learn "red", "green", etc). This book was worth every penny spent!

4-0 out of 5 stars Tinky Winky's bag
...The Teletubbies originated in Britian, where it is"ok" for men to carry bags.....my son loves the Teletubbiesand has enjoyed this touch and feel book. I would encourage other parents to introduce the teletubbies to their babies/toddlers. ... Read more

"One day in Teletubbyland, Tinky Winky danced a special boom-boom dance. Tinky Winky boom-boom dance!" Dipsy dances the boom-boom dance, too, as does Laa-Laa, Po, and the Noo-noo. Everyone loves dancing the special boom-boom dance. With their trademark inane dialogue and silly antics that appeal so wildly to the 2-and-under set, theTeletubbies dance the day away in this "peekaboo" board book. Windows allow aglimpse at the upcoming cavorting characters so toddlers can have fun guessingwho's next. Based on the Teletubbies TV show, these simple, colorful stories feature four odd yet kind of cute animated characters with TV screens in their bellies, dancing, singing, and gently adventuring. Enjoy more Teletubby frolics in their many other books, including The Magic Telescope and Here Come the Teletubbies. (Baby to preschool) --Emilie Coulter ... Read more

Personally, Im not one for Teletubbies, but my daughter liked the cover... If your child is a fan, I definately recommend this book, but if not, Don't bother. It wasn't a very interesting read for my daughter and she has ost interest in the book. I would recommend the Dr. Seuss line of books, which seem far more interesting and entertaining... ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Very Cute Book
This book follows part of the story from a Tubbies episode in which each Tubby gets to take turns dancing in a fluffy tutu. While Tinky Winky does not want to give the skirt to La-La, Dipsy does not want to wear the skirt when his turn comes, and is very happy when it falls off.

My toddler enjoys this book, and asks to read it frequently. The only improvement I think could be made is to make it a board book. The paper format has not stood up very well to being handled by a 2-year-old.

4-0 out of 5 stars Dancing With the Skirt ( Teletubbies)
My 17 month old daughter loves this book. She asks me to read it to her every day, over and over. I have had to tape the pages together because it has gotten so much wear. I have only had the book for about a month.

1-0 out of 5 stars My toddler didn't really seem to understand the book
My 4-year-old child didn't seem to enjoy this book very much because she didn't really understand what they were trying to say because the author makes teletubbies talk like babies. It would be more educational to make them speak PROPER ENGLISH!! ... Read more

From the supplier: Although the Rev. jerry Falwell issued a statement saying his criticism of the Public Broadcasting Station's television "Teletubbies" character, Tinky Winky, was taken out of character. Falwell said he didn't "out" Tinky Winky, but Falwell never-the-less believes that role-modeling gay lifestyles is damaging to children.

4-0 out of 5 stars A great set to have.
We have the entire set of these books. There is one for each character. Po is the favorite at my house. My 3 yr old and 18 month old fight over who gets the Po book. The book unfolds into "Po" His stomach is where the actual book is. no words just pictures. The only downfall of this book is keeping the soft shell that unfolds from tearing. It is not as hard as the board book inside and it is a lot of fun for small kids to open and close the velcro closing. ... Read more
