2-0 out of 5 stars In this book Ash is pregnant and Cindy has to find a jockey.
I give this book 2 stars. I mean, really happy ending. I personally think that Ashleigh shouldn't have given Brad and his wife Lavina (two snotty no good rats)half-interest in Glory. I feel bad for Cindy. Hey, Glory is her horse and Brad+Lavina are ruthless and careless with their horses. I also wonder what happened to Glory. I think that Cindy should own Glory completely. Cindy pretty cool, but my favorite character is Melanie. I hope Joanna Campell will write more books about her and Christina. I also wonder what happened to Cassidy. They should tell more about her.

4-0 out of 5 stars I love the Thoroughbred series and I love this book.
I really don't get how people could possibly give this book bad reviews. I was a little sad when Ashleigh couldn't ride Glory any more but I was excited about her having a baby. I simply love the Thoroughbred books and I loved this one too. My favorite one is Ashleigh's Christmas Miracle and I've read a lot of them. I strongly suggest you read it along with all the rest. But if you are considering reading Ashleigh's Farewell don't listen to what everyone says because it's a good book and so are all the other Thoroughbred books. There is one for every kind of person and you might just find one you like. I give this book a 4 star rating because I like some of them better. But I've read 1-18,plus Ashleigh's Diary, Samantha's Journey, Ashleigh's Christmas Miracle, and I plan to read Ashleigh's Hope next. I may only be 11, but I know a lot about horses and about these books and I think you should give this book a try. Keep writing Joanna ang I'll keep reading. Signed, Your biggest fan

2-0 out of 5 stars Well...um...
What can I say? The story kind of doesn't make sence. Like, if Ashleigh was pregnant, why did she ride Glory one day, fall off then suddenly not ride? My my mom was pregnant with me, she ride till she was 8 months along! Like come on!

Another thing about this book is that Glory feaks out with all the other riders. Sure, when I broke my arm and some of my friends rode my horse, he had to get used to there differnt(sp?) riding style, but gallop around and toss them this way and that...um...no. Never.

This book bearly got any stars from me, but I'll be nice cause I like Cindy and Glory *Sometimes*

4-0 out of 5 stars Cindy the brat
I think the book was good but I absolutely hate Cindy. Every horse at Whitebrook that is a very good racer she thinks is hers. She is such a snob. Do her and Max get married or something because I hope not because he is to good for her, Anyway the book was great.

1-0 out of 5 stars Well...
In Cindy's Honor Ashleigh can't ride Honor Bright because she is pregnant again. Why doesn't Ashleigh just be pregnant one time only with twins? Horses can't be so picky can they? It's like, Star can't win without Christina. Ashleigh also was dwelling on about how she couldn't ride Glory because of the risk of losing her baby. Well, how come the exercised him that day? How about that? Also, why in the world would Ashleigh sell off a half-interest in Glory to Townsend Acres, I will never know. That will only make the deal with Wonder's offspring tougher, I mean, Ashleigh would have to deal with two major fights with the Townsends because she sold of a half-interest in Glory. So, if you want to read this book, first look at the reviews! ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Thoroughbred #7, Samantha's Pride
This book was the greatest!!!! I loved it when Pride won the Derby against "Lord Ainsley". It was so neat!! I would really like to wring Brad Townsend's head. Where does he think HE has any buisness training Pride?! I think Samantha and Ashleigh are the best people with Pride. Even though it was sad when Pride lost the Belmont and the Triple Crown by half a nose, he is still a wonderful colt and I can't wait to see his racing years and foals in the years to come. FIVE STARS!!!!!!!!!!

5-0 out of 5 stars Go Pride!
Sammy and Pride are really makin' it big now! I got so mad at Brad during the book that I almost threw it down! It's been a long time since I've read such an exciting story!

3-0 out of 5 stars plot was okay, facts were not
Okay, the racing aspect of this book was alright, although the problem was solved way too easily. That would never happen in real life. But what really bothered me was the part about Samantha learning to jump. I realize that Sammy is a good rider, but learning to jump 3 feet perfectly in a matter of months is absolutly ridiculas. It takes years to perfect the skill of jumping a course, and it takes years to go from low jumps to 3'. Especially if you are taking 1 lesson a week, like Sammy. I've been jumping for 4 years now, and just last year I started jumping 3 feet, and my courses are still not perfect. Perhaps Sammy's horse never makes a mistake. That's possible. I've seen hunters that don't make mistakes ever. But its just not realistic. And it bothers me because it makes it seem like jumping is so easy.

5-0 out of 5 stars An exciting book
This book really kept me on the edge of my seat. The book made you hate Brad Townsend! Pride is being overaced and all the Townsends can think about is making more money! This is definitely one of the best of the Thoroughbreds and worth every penny. Good for grades 4-7 and horse lovers

5-0 out of 5 stars wow!
This book shows how Sammy has to do something fast to save her wonderful horse from being raced-to death!! Read to see how she does it, or-if she does it!! ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars This is a great book that keeps you on your toes!
Sierra is a three-year-old colt that just doesn't seem to be cut out for flat racing. He seems like he could race, but he just won't stay interested. Everyone at Whitebrook Farm has just about given up on him-except for Samantha McLean, and the stablehand, Len. When Mike is thinking about selling Sierra, Tor, Samantha's boyfriend, steps in with an idea. Why not try turning Sierra into a steeplecahser? Together, Tor and Samantha get Sierra ready for his first 'chase, but a few weeks before, Tor, who was going to ride him in the 'chase, falls and breaks his arm. Samantha, who is unsure of her abilities as a jumper, must ride Sierra. Can she and the intelligent colt make it to the winner's circle? You have to read it to find out!

5-0 out of 5 stars Awesome!!!
Sierra's Last Chance...

Samantha is the head trainer's daughter on Whitebrook Farm. She loves the spirited colt, Sierra, who is destined to become a great racehorse, from the start. But the mischievous colt is always pulling tricks, and he fails dismally in his training to be a flat racer. Everyone, especially Mike, Sierra's owner, and Charlie, who helped Ashleigh turn Ashleigh's Wonder into a champion, is ready to give up on the colt. But when Sierra takes Samantha on a mad gallop through the woods, easily clearing a huge, fallen tree, Samantha's boyfriend, Tor, is sure that the colt could be a champion steeplechaser. When Samantha and Tor begin training Sierra over the jumps of a steeplechase course he does beautifully. Finally he is showing promise! Samantha is excited about the race Tor entered Sierra in--until Mike says that it is Sierra's last chance to prove himself! Samantha is grateful that Tor will be riding Sierra in his first race. Then, only weeks from the race, Tor breaks his arm. Samantha is terrified--she will have to ride the spirited colt over the perilous steeplechase course--and they have to do well. Now, with the race drawing nearer, can things get any worse? This is the best TB book beside #1--A Horse Called Wonder! If you like horses, you should be reading these books!

4-0 out of 5 stars a good book for horse fans.
In this book you meet Sierra, a mischievious colt at Whitebrook farm. Sierra seems to have no potential as a race horse, but Samantha does not want to give up hope. Tor thinks that Sierra will be great at steeplechase so they give it a try. The reason I gave this book four stars was because it was not about horse racing, which was a little disappointing. Also, Pride gets hurt which is sad, and his racing career is threatened.

3-0 out of 5 stars A good book, but not one of the best.
I have been reading the throughbred books for ages and although this one is decent, it is not fantastic. It is not as interesting as some of the others, but the story line is decent. A good read, but not one that you are going to want to read over and over again...

3-0 out of 5 stars okay ; so-so
i think this book was very good, but the subject/problem just kept on changing. I would reccomend it only to those who have read all the books beforehand and plan to read the ones afterward, just so they would know what is going on. For those who only have read a few, i would reccomend something else (especially "The Secret Voice of Gina Zhang"). ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars The last of the classic Campbell Thoroughbred books
Cindy's Glory is the last book in the Thoroughbred series that Joanna Campbell wrote herself. As of spring 2003, the series has grown to 57 titles, 4 super editions, three reissues, and a spin-off Ashleigh series, which makes the original 14 books and 2 super editions even more precious. Most loyal readers agree that Joanna Campbell, as the original author and creater, was the best. She created real situations with flawed but likable characters. Even Cindy's Glory, however, slips a little on the scale.

Cindy's Glory is the story of Cindy Blake, an orphan who is staying temporarily at Whitebrook Farm with Ian and Beth MacLean, and their daughter Samantha. In the previous book, Cindy's Runaway Colt, Cindy found a stray colt named Glory and hid him while she tried to convince the MacLeans to save him from his abusive owners - who, it turned out, had stolen him. Now he is up for auction, so Cindy and her friend Heather Gilbert determine to train him as a racehorse to prove he's good enough for Whitebrook to buy.

Campbell is notorious for having her heroines - Ashleigh, the original character who started the series, and then Samantha - go off slightly half-cocked when it comes to horses. You really have to ignore the fact that two twelve-year-old girls are galloping a racehorse; if you do you'll be able to handle the whole book. Don't get hung up on the fact that it's totally unreasonable; this is one example of the way Campbell was definitely on the way out when she wrote this book.

Otherwise Campbell does a good job. Cindy's fear at being taken away from her foster home at Whitebrook is very real, as is her gratitude at being part of a loving family. And her relationship with Glory is much like Ashleigh's with her beloved mare Wonder, but not a carbon copy. Longtime readers will manage to find parallels and enjoy the bond between them, but it won't feel like Campbell ran out of things to say and just cut-and-pasted Ashleigh and Wonder stories.

Joanna Campbell wrote Thoroughbred books #1-14, the super editiongs Ashleigh's Christmas Miracle and Ashleigh's Diary, and the first three books of the Ashleigh series: Lightning's Last Hope, A Horse for Christmas, and Waiting for Stardust. She also wrote Battlecry Forever! and Star of Shadowbrook Farm, which were released as part of the "Ashleigh's Book Collection" series. If you plan to read Thoroughbred I recommend you start with #1 and go up, because the original 14 books really were the best.

5-0 out of 5 stars A great book!
Okay, I'll admit it, I read the end 50 gazillion times! This is such a good book! Cindy works so hard at getting Glory ready, and your not sure even though there's lot's of books with 'Glory' in the title ahead of this book. The auction is good, Mike was smart, that's all I can other than READ THIS BOOK!

5-0 out of 5 stars this book is the best so far
This book is a bomb. It was sad when they had to take Glory away.

4-0 out of 5 stars just should not have happened
i can't believe that cindy isn't going to stay at whitebrook and glory either. or do they? read the book find the answers. i love horses liek cindy and ashleigh do. maybe i will be just like them- someday.

1-0 out of 5 stars This book was terrible!
This book was awful! I mean come on! I'm 16 and I love TBs! I have one of my own and it took me 1 year just to get him to canter under control! No way she could ride for 6 months and be galloping him under control! And come on! Why does every one of Cindy's horses turn out to be a champion?! it does not happen like that! I can't believe Mike actually bought Glory! Glory bothers me. He's doesn't act like a typical TB! Mine was raced and he is still hyper even after we gelded him and got him off the track! I hate to think of what he was like as a stud on the track! ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars One Of The Best...
I just finished this book and I really loved it. Brad and his little wife mad me, shall we say really mad. Why can't they just leave Ashleigh and Pride alone. And when Charlie died I cried. Other than Ashleigh he is my favorite character. I really loved the way Ashleigh spread Charlie's ashes. I also really like the way Campbell had a mixture of steeplechases, racing, and some jumping. She really knows how to write a good book. A must read for Thoroughbred fans.

5-0 out of 5 stars Give us more STARS!
I don't think 5 stars is enough for this book. It needs at least eight. I loved it. I HATE Brad and Lavinia. What a bunch of jerks! Pooor Pride, he tries so hard, and all they do is pick on him. They could have killed him in #7. Brad & L. need to move to Australia or something. Sorry all you folks from Australia. This book was great. Next to Samantha's Journey it is one of the best. I HATE, HATE, HATE, HATE Brad and Lavinia. And why did Charley have to die? He's the only other person, besides maybe Jilly and Linda, that believed in Wonder. I cry every time I read this book. I LOVE IT... I LOVE HORSES!!! HORSES RULE!!!

5-0 out of 5 stars WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!
This is the most amazing book i have EVER seen( I like to read Books so imagine how many I have read)! Joanna Cambell is Amazing! I hope they come out with MORE,MORE,MORE!!!!!!!!!

5-0 out of 5 stars again, magnificent!
THIS WAS ANOTHER FANTASTIC ONE!! Again, Sammy has to fight for Pride. Read to see if she can win THIS time ... Read this!!Please keep the series going so when I'm a little older I can write in it(I want to be an author.)!! ...

5-0 out of 5 stars It' awesome!
This is one of my favourites since Ashleigh and Samantha are my favourite characters. But, I ABSOLUTELY HATE BRAD AND LAVINIA! I cried when charlie died. Did you know that if Lavinia hadn't told Charlie to retire gracefully, he wouldn't have had that much stress and have died! Lavinia should be charged with murder! She's a....well I can't say it. But you get my point. Anyways, I laughed when Lavinia wanted to name mr. Wonderful after herself! it was hilarious. and what kind of a name is Lavinia anyway??? sounds like some french garden salad dressing. Anyways. I'm glad Pride kept beating them, it was funny, however i have nothing against Lord Ainsley who's a cutie pie. But as far as Brad goes!!!! I know it's a fictional story but I thought ASHLEIGH was gunna die from high blood pressure. And she's only
22! Anyways, let's fast forward a bit. I agree with most of you when you say that Cindy's a bit of a snob, no more snobbish then Christina. AND WHY ON EARTH DID SHE GIVE UP STERLING? I thought she was the horse of her dreams??? then STAR comes along. HA! i've got nothing against him since he' a sweetie, but what's with the Connection with him? We read each other's minds!? please Christina, your not a horse whisperer. And haven't you noticed how Star ignores you completely when your on the ground? it' just when your in the saddle that he behaves perfectly for. it's probably just cause the others are fatter then you or something, maybe he reacts to fattness, he may have a sensitive back you know. Sheesh! and what' with your hair colour? Blonde or Brown? or red? Sorry to get carried away, just some flaws bug me. Toot-a-loo ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Almost Perfect
A great book! I was impressed that this book begins EXACTLY where 'Pride's Challenge' ends. After Pride's win in the Whitney, and with Ashleigh protesting about Brad's instructions and the way Alvero nearly ruined Pride. The book would have great suspense in the beginning for anyone who doesn't read the back of the book. They shouldn't say, on the back, that Pride wins his race in the Breeders Cup and is named Horse of the Year. The whole first half of the book is about "will Pride win the classic?" "will he make Horse of the Year?" "will he beat Lord Ainsley?" (and show Brad and Lavinia Townsend?!) I also have to warn anybody who would like to be spared "mushy stuff". I mean...Tor gave her "a big, smacking kiss on the lips"? I started reading at the wrond end of the series, with 'Star's Chance', and I noticed that 'Fallen Star' has almost the exact same plot as this book. "At the height of his racing career... he suddenly develops a deadly illness... he may never race again--he may not even live..." But aside from those things I recommend this book to anyone who's willing to cry a little bit.

5-0 out of 5 stars A VERY GOOD BOOK!!!!!!!!!!!!
This is an awesome book!! It is very sad and very good at the same time. I cried when Pride almost died. The best part of the book is when he got named Horse of the Year and beat Brad's and Lavinia's horse, Lord Ainsley, to get it. But after the Breeder's cup and heading into his five-year-ols season, Pride comes down with a deadly disease. Only with Samatha's and Ashleigh's love for Pride did he recover and moved back to Whitebrook from the clinic. That was the ultimate best part in the whole book. It was realy cool how he recovered in the night with Samantha's love and care. Then did Pride noticed that he had to get better to be with the people he loved and he improved in just 12 hours!!!

5-0 out of 5 stars WOW! what suspence!
That was a great book! when samantha woke up in the vet's office I THOUGHT THAT PRIDE WAS DEAD!and I started to cry in 3rd p.then when he was better I cried again with tears of joy!
that was one of the best books I have EVER read!GREAT JOB 2 JOANNA CAMPBELL!

5-0 out of 5 stars I love this book!
This book is great! I started reading it and couldn't put it down. This is defiantly one of those books that you can't stop reading. If you love the TB series, then read this book!

5-0 out of 5 stars Fantastic!
This book was fantastic! I love Pride and Samantha. Pride finishs his wonderful 3 year-old racing career and Ashleigh and Samantha can't wait for his 4 year-old season. But, when Samantha and Tor come back from a dance and go check on Pride he is laying down and wildly thrashing his legs. Read the book to find out what happens. ... Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars WHERE DID EVERYONE GO!!!!!!!
Where is Wonder,Shining,Fleet Goddess and Siera go? Who ever the writer is now, please write a reunion book and tell us why Samantha moved to Ireland and left Shining at Whitebrook!! Cindy seems to have disappeared, so where did she go! I am a big Thoroughbred fan and why did you skip Christina from three to twelve?? I liked and Champion and Glory, so please bring at least some of their offspring back! PLEASE! Otherwise I might stop reading these great books! Also, why is almost the entire book about Eventing? I mean the Thoroughbred series is about Racing, right?????? Also, Cindy could have had ten more books about her and I would of read them, Same with Ashleigh and Samantha. JOANNA, PLEASE COME BACK!!!!!!! Emily, Australia

4-0 out of 5 stars The horse of her dreams
I think this is the first time i have given one of the thoroughbred books a 4 star rating! it was a well written book but there were so many mistakes that i couldnt give it 5 stars!! Okay first and foremost i thought the series was supposed to be about racing. Its great that they expose other "horse sports" but that seems to take away from the series main focus: RACING. I love eventing as much as the next person but i would have liked the focus to be racing. Anywhoo... Where did max, cindy, samantha, tor, mandy, honor, champion etc. go?? They should have at least mentioned what the characters were doing, where they went or something!! for as much as i didnt like cindy (and the townsends!) I miss them. the story isnt complete with the townsends. Which brings me to my next complaint: Legacy. If he was supposed to be wonder's last foal then why is star in this series?? They dont even mention him ever again untill much later in the series (i think like any where between book 45-50 something)and only because christina felt guilty. poor legacy. aside from the huge time gap (in 23 wasnt christina like 3 or 4) now she is 12, and the missing characters this book was pretty good. I think if this book would have happened later when the time was right it would have gotten better ratings. they should have continued writing about previous charaters and saved this book for some other time.

2-0 out of 5 stars WHERE IS EVERYBODY??????
WHAT HAPPENED?!?!? Did this whole series just fall apart? This is a pretty good book if youv'e never read the Thoroughbred books before, but if you have your'e probably wondering where all the people went-Cindy,Max,Samantha,Tor,Yvonne,Mandy.....And What About The HORSES?? What happened to the series? I know they fixed it and turned it back to racing, but still,it leaves the whole eventing epidemic just it's own story! It's like Thoroughbred Ashleigh:RACING Thoroughbred 1-23:EVENTING Thouroughbred 34 and beyond:RACING(hopefully) If this is your first Thoroughbred book, read in order up to 33,then go to #1 and read up from there,(skipping the ones youv'e read before) and pretend the ones youv'e read before were a tottaly different series.

5-0 out of 5 stars FANTASTIC BOOK
This book was great! It deserves at LEAST 10 stars. This book is about a girl named Christina Reese, who wants to get an event horse. Chris goes to the track one day and sees a dapple gray mare named Sterling Dream-her dream horse. When the beautiful mare jumps the fence off of the track, Chris knows this is the jumper she's been dreaming of. She sees the groom whipping Sterling with a huge crop and knows she has to save her.Chris trades her own racehorse for Sterling. GREAT BOOK! I RECOMMEND TO ANYBODY WHO LOVES HORSES!

3-0 out of 5 stars The series is tipping
This book was a little more than average. Karen Bentley had a REALLY BIG job taking over right where there was new character and a new racing censation. The part about Cindy always acting as if she owned the horses confuses me. When I bought read a bit of Wonder's Champion and she say "no matter what happens he'll still be my colt" I say (and I quote) "HUH?" I thought "oh, she probably got handed half interest in him like Ashleigh and Wonder. But she didn't and I'm confused. I REALLY like the Thoroughbred series, but I think Joanne Campbell made a BIG mistake by writing "Ashleigh's Christmas Miracle" because it kind of gave TB a dead end. She probably didn't think the series would go this far, but it did, and now they're stuck. Is Jazz Goddess still going to be born? And how long is Wonder going to live? The series is on the verge of plumiting into the pit of forgotteness because now they have an overlap. I think they will be shortening the time periods of books so they can focus on parts of Christina's life so that it doesn't get boring because we already know what's happening. I really hope they still have a lot of the focus on racing. People like the series because it is about riders who know they're stuff, so that the readers aren't reading about a conquest to learn how to ride (if you want that read Saddle Club and PonyTails, PonyPals) but a quest to win the Triple Crown, keep great race horses alive (not mention any names Pride and Glory) and to win races and breed great fillies and colts. That's why people like the series. But if all of a sudden it's about Christina learning to ride, *YAWN* boring! Ashleigh's Christmas Miracle wasn't boring though, because Christina was majorly competing and stuff. Any way, this isn't much of a review, because it's about the future, oh well!

4-0 out of 5 stars Cindy's Honor
This book is definitely one of the best in the Thoroughbred series. It really tells what its like to have a horse that you have a very special bond with. I would definitely recommend it!!!

2-0 out of 5 stars I don't like Cindy
I really miss Ashleigh and Samantha, what's with cindy? I mean she was okay in the start, though I could tell something wasn't right, then I found that Joanna had stopped writing and it was someone else! that's where the difference came in, it wasn't Joanna's writing style at all, thought I'm sure Bentley did her best. It's just that Cindy seems so...I don't know snobbish? I mean, every good horse has to be her's. And I thought thi series was about Ashleigh? Then Samantha? when someone starts focusing to much on one character like Cindy, it throws the whole thing off. The series started with Ash and Sammy, I thought Sammy and Tor would get married! (Though in Super Addition Samantha's Journey, I find out that they do!) Anyways, I just wish more of the stories could be focused back on the favourites.
Thanks, Kee

2-0 out of 5 stars Classical Cindy Take Two
Good show, Syrinx. As always you just have that right witty remark to say -- I could just see Champion as Cindy's personal guinea pig (Too bad he wouldn't do what some g. pigs do and bite ) but aye, there's something too freaking abrupt in the beginning of the story -- Arabian Challenge is like that too -- where all of a sudden, something is happening. And BOOM, just like that, you're thrown into the plot without any clue of what just is happening except some freakish accident. After all, a clue about why Honor might be going spazzy wouldn't have been too much trouble... but there's Bently for you. And what's with Jeremy? He didn't really seem that bad, but of course, he just /had/ to be Lavinia's cousin which made him an automatic jerk and a 'bad guy'

5-0 out of 5 stars i havent read it yet but....
i havent read this book and to tell you the truth im not sure if i want to. I only need a few more books in the seris and i will have the whole collection. this book happens to be one of them. But why i am not looking forward to this book is b/c of cindy. i have hated her since when she first came into the seris. She is a spoiled little brat. first she has glory, then she moves on to storm, then its champion, then its honor, well you get the point. i take care of 3 horses and i love them so0o0o0o much i would never EVER forget about them if something was to happen to them. but not cindy...no she just moves right along! and i think its crazy that she can beat ashleigh, the all time greatest jockey ever!! HELLO wake up...ashleigh has been racing for how long and cindy had only raced like what 2 races before...? and another thing about cindy... whatever horse she takes care of its automatically hers! no i dont think so. and when ash told her that they arent cindy's horses, cindy blows up at poor ash. if it werent for ash, samantha, ian, and beth then cindy wouldnt be there! i think cindy should be greatful that she can work with such wonderful horses. not be a spoiled brat about it! but i do love the seris so i think i will buy all the books i need to complete my collection. i reccomend the whole seris to any one. i have been a loyal reader for almost 5 years now. another great (and for those of you who want more realistic book about horses)seris is the Heartland seris. they have told me alot about horses! and they are very catching...once you start you cant put them down, i have the whole seris. ok i think my 1000 words are almost up now... ... 5-0 out of 5 stars If you love horses this is the book for you!
I thought Thouorghbred book number 3 was alsome. I would defaintly buy it. If you love horses and horse racing this would be the book for you. It's about a girl who helps train a horse to win the Kentucky Derby. Wonder is a super cool horse who has alot of spirit. I thought it was adventurous and fun. Joanna Campbell is a great writter. Well I loved the book and I hope you wil too.

5-0 out of 5 stars wonderful, touching story
this would probably be my favorite book of the series, i loved all the ones with wonder and Ashleigh especially this one i read it over and over again, i cant put it down i love all the characters like Charlies and asheigh, this a touching story of all the stuggles and triumphs of racing- go read it!

5-0 out of 5 stars Best Of Many
I got this book at a fairly young age and read it. I had to have been 12 years old when I first read it. Now I am 16 and I picked up the book again on Thursday night and enjoyed as much as I had the many other times I read it. It is now Saturday and I still got the same thrill I got when I was younger. I still felt the same animosity towards Brad and I found myself rooting Wonder on in the Derby, having the same reaction I did when I was younger. I laughed at myself when I clenched my fist tight and whispered 'Come on Wonder.' as I read. Wonder's First Race was definately one of the best out of many great books in the seris. Ashleigh's emotions could pracially be felt and I like how Ashleigh, and Charlie never gave up on Wonder even though everyone put her down. I would have done the same thing if I'd be in there. I'm glad I picked up this book and it reminded me of how much I missed reading the Thoroughbred books. The racing scenes still gave me chills and I got the same thrill that I got out of it before. Wonder's First Race in one of my many favorites in the seris.

5-0 out of 5 stars Amazing!
This book makes Ashleigh more confident--not a daydreaming kid anymore, and it loses its predictability. Brad broke up with Caro! He is SUCH a jerk. If there was someone around in real life who's like him, I don't wanna know! Anyway, Wonder's prepping for the Derby! Then Brad rides her!

5-0 out of 5 stars Wonder's the Best!!!!!!!!!!!
I think this a great book. This is to the Julia person who is dumb enough to think that Townsend Prince and Ashleigh's Wonder aren't half siblings. The Prince and Wonder ARE half siblings. The have to have the same SIRE and a different dam, NOT the other way around. You don't know the first thing about horses. YOU ARE HORSE STUPID!!! Now, back to the review. This is the one of the best Thoroughbred books I've ever read. Wonder wins her first race. Ashleigh, Charlie, and Jilly are really happy. Thet decide to race her in the Derby. Then, on an icy day when the track is frozen solid, stupid, birdbrained, idiotic Brad just HAS to ride Wonder. The idiot gallops her WAY too fast and she stumbles, pulling a muscle in her shoulder. Will Wonder heal in time for the Derby? READ THIS BOOK!!!!!!! ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Book
This is one of my favorites in the Thoroughbred series. I think that Joanna Campbell did an excellent job of writing it. The book is all about Wonder being able to start training. Charlie starts training Wonder but he doesn't co-operate with anyone but Ashleigh. Will Ashleigh be able to be Wonder's jockey? This is a must read for any horse lover.

5-0 out of 5 stars one of the best in the series!!!
This is one of the best books in the series. I loved it and it was a really hard book to put down. You will love it! When Ashleigh's favorite horse Wonder is put into training Ashleigh is really excited. But Wonder dislikes the sting of the crop and is being very disobedient. Ashleigh knows he could be sold if he dosen't do well. Ashleigh is allowed to exercise ride Wonder with Charlie's help but she becomes afraid of her own horse when he bucks her off one day. Ashleigh still rides him though and they start secretly training Wonder at a racing speed. Finally when it becomes they're chance to prove Woder is a great horse in the race against some other two year olds Jocko, the cruel trainer rides him. Ashleigh watches him very closely and he dosen't use the whip until the very end and Wonder loses. Is all of Ashleigh's hard work ruined? Then they give Ashleigh the chance to ride Wonder after Jocko. Can Ashleigh pull Wonder back together to win the race?

4-0 out of 5 stars Wonder's in trouble!
Wonder won't train because she hates being handled roughly. Everyone thinks that Ashleigh is just being too soft when she points this out and doesn't give Wonder a chance. Ashleigh decides to ride Wonder with the old trainer Charlie's help. Progress is slowly made--but will the new jockey ruin it all? This is a good book. However, Ashleigh is still pretty much an emotional, complaining girl who thinks that crying and rushing into things will cure all. She thinks that Wonder's devotion and her determination will miracolously turn the horse into a champion. Ashleigh is sometimes a brat.

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent!
This book was just as good as the first one! In this book, Wonder is starting training and 13 year old Ashleigh Griffen has high hopes. But a mean new trainer says Wonder is impossible. Ashleigh decides to take the matter in to her and Charlie's own hands and make Wonder great. I am sure you will love this book, and the rest of the Thoroughbred series. Highly reccomended!

5-0 out of 5 stars FABULOUS!!
I love these books they are realistic, exciting, funny, thrilling, addictive and fun!! They have the perfect mix of family, school, horses, friends, racing, romance and just life! This hasgot to be the best series ever written! I can't wait to buy the next books! AAAAA+++++++++!!!!!!!!!! ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Its a good Book
Its a good book. I like it how jinks win his race and that Chris is riding for Townsend Acers. It would be differnt if Chris had a child at the age of 19 and she gets married at the age of 18. It also would be good if Star and Image got bread. They could call it Perfect Star or Wonder's Image. I would of rather Star been Caled Wonder's Last Star insted of Wonder's Star.
I really like Jinx hes really cool. I'm kind of glad that Mel and Jazz arnt dateing any more i hope Mel and Kevin get back together.
Thanks for reading this Letter thing.

5-0 out of 5 stars I LUVED IT!!!!
This one was really good. I had been meaning to buy it for awhile, but for some reason I didn't. I am now very glad that I did because it is one of the best in the series.

This is one of the emotional books. I could completely sympathize with Samantha when Angelique is trying to take Tor away. I almost cried when they took Cindy away.

I love this series, it is one of the best I have ever read. I have read the majority of the books.

This is such a good book, I seriously reccommend it!!

5-0 out of 5 stars An Awesome, awesome book!!!!!!!!!
I have always loved the Thoroughbred series!!!This book was no exception!!!It is awesome!!!I recommend it to anyone and everyone!!My only problem with this series is that once the Samantha books started they hardly talked about Ashleigh and once the Cindy books started they hardly talked about Samantha.I haven't read any of the books about Ashleigh's daughter but I'm assuming it's the same. But I don't have too many other complaints. One is that they don't talk much of Mr.Wonderful or Townsend Princess or Precocious. And I don't think it would hurt to mention Wonder and Fleet Goddess or any of the other retired champions more often, would it??But I still think that these books are awesome!!!!!READ,READ,READ!!!!!!!!!!!

5-0 out of 5 stars Cindy the runaway foster child
I loved this book, it was the best Thoroughbred book I have ever read. If you have read the other books in the Thoroughbred series I conceder reading this book. I love this book because when Samantha finds cindy in the barn with the orphan foals she dosnt kick her out, she and her family fight to become Cindys foster parents. I also love it because in the end cindy gets to stay with Samantha's family for a llittle while. I sure am glad she didn't have to go with that awful Mrs. Lovell.

5-0 out of 5 stars Awesome!!
I love the TB series! They are so cool! They aren't always 100% happy. I like how it's not till the end that you know how the book ends. You will love this book! Cindy is such a sweet little girl. I don't know why people say she is a snob. It's not true!!!

5-0 out of 5 stars one of the best
this book was great. I really enjoyed reading it. I especially liked how they introduced Cindy as the new character. She makes a good new addition to the series. I hope the books with her will be as good as the ones with Sam nad Ashleigh. Anyway, I'd recommend this book to anyone so don't hesitated to pick this book up in the bookstore. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Hmn....no comment.
This book was sort of slow, like a foal taking its first steps. Although this book was well written, when Samantha came in I found it a bit dull. Even if I really did want to ride Fleet Goddess I wouldn't disobey my father. In the book, Mr. McLean was trying to watch out for Sammy's best interest. I found that how Ashleigh was so warm to Samantha was very heartwarming. This book wasn't one of Joanna Campbell's better books, but after this book, the things with Sammy warm up a little. But there's one thing - Pride is just born in #5 and then he's a yearling in #6, and then a two year old halfway through #6??? Although #6 (Wonder's Yearling) was my favorite TB book, I found that how time was skipped a bit of a loss...... Lara P.S. : Ms. Campbell, please come back to writing the series! I hear you're the writer of #36 (Without Wonder) so keep on writing the books from then on! Thank you so much!

5-0 out of 5 stars I love Fleet Goddess!!!!!!!!!
This book is the most wonderful TB book I've ever read!!!!!!!!! If Fleet Goddess and Townsend Acres were real, then I would go running over there to see Goddess!! *Chuckles* In this book Ashleigh buys a filly name Fleet Goddess (duh). Wonder has had her foal, Wonder's Pride (yipee!!!) and has made friends with Samantha Mclean (sorry if I spelled it wrong). Sammy wants to ride again, but her dad won't let her 'cause her mom died in a riding accident. Then, Ashleigh can't keep training Goddess 'cause she got injured in a race. Sammy wants to train Goddess in her place, but her dad won't let her. Will there be a happidy ending? READ THIS BOOK I TELL YOU!!!!!! READ IT!! P.S. Sorry if I sound nuts, I'm hyper taday.

5-0 out of 5 stars THE BEST BOOK YET

ash and sam finally have a new horse to train ,but ash gets heart in an accadent and bracks her harm. ash is chreshed, she and sam have worked so hard for this day and now thay cant go any fartheir whith fleet goddes's training because, sam's dad will not let her ride. He is still afraid that some horse will take away another loved one. If you want to find out what happens next read the book

5-0 out of 5 stars THE BEST YET
This book is the best out of all the thoroughbred books I have read.In this book ashleigh's half horse gives birth to her first foal.ash is soo exited, but it would be a dall book if their was no raceing. So ash goes out an finds a stout filly named fleet Goddess.Sam ashleighs best friend helps train the filly into a beautiful sleek race horse.so when ash injureds her arm sam must fill in, but sams mother was killed not to long ago by a race horse so her father is no too happy about the idea. will sam save the race horse she loves or will she have to sit and watch everything she and ashleigh have worked so hard for.
This book was soo good if you never read another book read this one.

Can a fan's love go too far?

Christina is thrilled by Wonder's Star's recent wins on the track, but with Star's success comes some very strange -- and very creepy -- activity around the farm. First, someone breaks into the Whitebrook barn. Though physically unharmed, a jittery Star compels Christina to fly home abruptly from New York. Luckily, Christina's new friend Jessie is there to support her.

For safety's sake, Christina is forced to move her renowned horse after the break-in. But when trouble follows Star to Whisperwood and then to Tall Oaks, she begins to fear for Star's well-being . . . and for her own. Christina may be left with only one option: to move Star to Townsend Acres, where the security is excellent, but where her nemesis, Brad Townsend, is surely up to no good. . . .

Starstruck was a very predictable book. All along you knew would star's "stalker" was. I wont give it away....although you could probably figure it out within the first few pages. it was a good book...just a little too predictable. It didnt hold my interest like a few of the other ones did because i already knew who the stalker was. I reccomend it to anyone collecting the series (i am so of course i bought it) Anywhoo...Basically star and christina are being stalked by a racing fan. chris gets creeped out so she moves star to tall oaks. then when that plan fails she moves star with her for a short while in New York (he was supposed to race there) the stalker knew about the race and followed them there. Chris pulled star from the race and hides him at townsend acres. Can you guess what happens? o dear! the stalker finds them there too....then poof....the stalker is never heard of again. I dont really have too many complaints about the book...in fact i think the series is going uphill again. but some of the things that really do bother me is the fact BRAD WAS BEING NICE <-ummm whats up with that?, all the people relationships are repeating (chris and parker were too busy for eachother...now mel and jazz are too busy for eachother...and so is kevin and lindsey), and no offense but the cover art really...er sucks! what happened?!?!? they used to look so great...now it looks like something my little sister might draw...anyway it was a good book for the thoroughbred series. If you want to find another great series, i reccomend the HEARTLAND series...they are just as well written (if not sometimes better)than the TB series.

5-0 out of 5 stars Best of the new generation
Despite what the first reviewer said of "worst ever" this is by far the best new generation book. Christina is written as a child who is turning into an adult, a real 18 year old basically. The book kept me engaged for hours at a strech; this was the first new generation book since Star's birth that I wasn't finished with in a day. If you are or were a fan of the Thoroughbred series, this book reminds me of when Joanna Campbell was still writing the series.

If you are even thinking about getting this book, DO IT! It's well worth the money!

5-0 out of 5 stars This is the best book in awhile!
Wow this book is incredible. I really have to hand it to the author, she really pulled it off. It was better than even the Jennifer Chu books (even though she writes great ones as well).

Christina is accepting mediocre rides, instead of the top-class ones she could be taking. A stalker begins to follow Star, and Christina moves him to Tall Oaks and then to Townsend Acres. Christina starts to fall apart on the track, losing her cool during races and drifting away from her responsibilities. Both Kevin and Melanie are having problems with Jazz and Lindsay. Kevin has decided to become a trainer, and he's going to go help his father. Melanie is swept off her feet in New York, with rides and races. Everything is going in a blur, and Christina is scared out of her mind. If the books keep going this way, they'll be as good as the Old Generation books! Believe me, this is what this series needs.

2-0 out of 5 stars this book STINKS!!!
THOROUGHBRED IS MY FAVORITE SERIES,BUT THEY ARE GETTING WORSE.CHRIS IS PARANOID,AND PARKER IS NEVER THERE.MELANIE IS ACTING STUPID AND ALL JAZZ DOES IS GO ON TOURS.I DONT KNOW WHY THEY ARE MAKING BRAD SO NICE, BUT THAT ISNT HIS CHARACTER.THE NEXT ONE SOUNDS MORE EXCITING.

Book Description

Is this good-bye?

When Samantha McLean hears that her beloved horse, Wonder's Pride, is about to be sold by the owner of the farm where Samantha lives, she thinks her heart will break. But Samantha knows she has to be strong if she's going to save Wonder's Pride from the auction block.

The more Samantha finds out, the more hopeless the situation seems. It's not just Wonder's Pride, but all of the Townsend Acres breeding farm that's in danger of destruction.

5-0 out of 5 stars A classic that will keep you coming back for more.
In third grade, I purchased this book because I liked the picture on the cover. Now, eight years later at age sixteen, I'm still reading these books devotedly, and even have my own website dedicated to the series (...). These books are unique not only because they're about racing instead of the usual eventing, but because Joanna Campbell was so good at developing the bond between girl and horse. Readers of the Thoroughbred Series become as close to the horses as the main characters do, and Ashleigh and Sammy are definitely people I'd like to have as my best friends. Even though in more recent years the quality of these books has suffered due to changing authors and constant factual errors, the first twelve books remain classics.

In this book, we see through the eyes of Samantha McLean as she watches the horse she loves, Wonder's Pride, grow from a gangly yearling to a beautiful racehorse. However, trouble is brewing at Townsend Acres where Sammy and the colt live. Mr. Townsend, the colt's co-owner, has fallen on hard times, and it looks like he might be forced to sell his half of Pride! It's no help the Mr. Townsend's arrogant son, Brad, would love nothing more then to see Pride sold, since he still bears a grudge against the colt's dam, Ashleigh's Wonder, for beating his colt, Townsend Prince, in the Kentucky Derby, among other races. It's up to Sammy and Ashleigh Griffen, a Townsend Acres Legend, and Pride's co-owner, to find a way to keep Pride at Townsend Acres.

This book establishes Pride as a horse worthy to fill the horseshoes of his dam, the famous Ashleigh's Wonder, and shows that Sammy is just as likable a heroine as her predecessor, Ashleigh. It's easy to fall in love with the big chestnut colt and his fiery-haired groom, and this book will have you rooting for Pride and Sammy all the way.

5-0 out of 5 stars proud to have read it!
This was fantastic! It goes down the line of Wonder's offspring, and changes people, which is also a nice change. It shows how Samantha is determined to save "her" beloved horse from being gone forever. I recommend this to EVERYONE!!

5-0 out of 5 stars THIS BOOK WAS SO BREATH TAKING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I have to say this was the best book so far and Wonder retired! The way Ashleigh and Samantha fought fo Pride was awesome. It was so good and couldn't put it down. I think Mr. Townsend was out of his mind to even think of selling his half-interest in the colt. But it was a shame that Ashleigh couldn't find the money to buy him out. But who cares, as long as Pride, Samantha, and Ashleigh are all at Whitebrook happy with Pride!!!

5-0 out of 5 stars Wonder's done it again!
