5-0 out of 5 stars Sesame Street helps us learn about diversity.
I have a dog-eared copy of this book that I have used for years in my preschool classroom. The format of the book is repetive - "We are all alike. We all have hair to keep us warm." Then on the next page, "We are all different, our hair looks different". The children are immediately attracted to the Sesame Street characters and the possibility of guessing each character by their distinguishing feature. Often the favorite page is the one about noses, each character's nose is shown as if in a page of photographs showing just the noses - ... to The Count to Snuffalupagus.

5-0 out of 5 stars We're Different, We're the Same is great for classrooms
I teach kindergarten and use this book every year at the beginning of the year. It takes each part of a person and shows how they are both the same and different. Example "our hair is different" then they show a variety of hair types. On the next page it continues: "Our hair is the same. It grows on us in several places. It warms our heads and frames oour faces."

5-0 out of 5 stars Especially good for adopted children
We really like this book for our 3-yr old chinese-born daughter. It not only teaches her racial harmony, but also shows her that her parents are more like her than different. We like to give this book as a gift to other children and it is appropriate for any child. The illustrations are cute and we have had many a giggle as we point each other out in the pictures ("Daddy's hair looks like Big Bird's!"). ... Read more

Richard Scarry's bright and humorous animal characters have been charming children for decades. Always inventive in the world of animal fashion, Scarry shows the cow jumping over the moon in pearls and a pink dress, and the little dog who "laughed to see such sport" sports a sailor suit. You won't hear "I can't see the pictures!" with this book; its large size makes it a good choice for group story hour. This collection of 50 Mother Goose rhymes is especially appropriate for toddlers; most of the two-page spreads contain only one illustrated rhyme. (Many children younger than three can focus better on one simple verse than on many rhymes on each page.) Richard Scarry's Best Mother Goose Ever has stood the test of time for more than 25 years and is still a hit with young readers. (Ages 1 to 4) ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars A Classic
I used to make my mother read to the entire book to me every night- I had it memorized so I even knew when she would try to skip pages! I absolutely love this book and recommend it to anyone who has kids or who knows kids. This is absolutely my favorite childhood book. . .there is none better!

5-0 out of 5 stars A great book
This collection of nursery rhymes is a classic. It has all the ones I remember as a child and more. The pictures are big and funny. It is so much fun to read. I can hardly wait to read it during story time for my daughter.

5-0 out of 5 stars DELIGHTFUL
This collection of nursery rhymes and illustrations are a classic.I deeply enjoyed them as a kid and now my children enjoy this as a good read. Truly a delightful book.

5-0 out of 5 stars Illustrations create wonderful memories
The illustrations in this book make the nursery rhymes entertaining to small children. This book provided me with many hours of joy and wonderful memories when I shared it with my two children. I am now sending it to my son to share with his little girl.

5-0 out of 5 stars 5 children rate this the best ever!
The large sized illustrations, the bright colors and the rhymes themselves all made this book the favorite with our 5 children. We have gone through 2 copies, now reduced to loose pages, and need to order 2 more for new grandchildren (both age 5 months) ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellant for kids
Unfortuantely, Richard Scarry's work sometimes gets criticized as being anti-feminist. As a result, his classic book Busy, Busy, World (my favorite book as a child) is out of print. But, come on ladies, let's move on. Scarry is an extremely talented illustrator that kids love. My daughter insists we read this book every night. So save the feminist rantings for more appropriate targets, and leave Scarry's work alone.

5-0 out of 5 stars A Wonderful Book
When I was a little girl in the 1980's this was my most favorite book. Today I have a B.S. in Physics with a math minor and a Masters in Physics. Guess all that gender sterotyping didn't work!

This is a wonderful book. I would always look for lowly worm, he's so much better than where's waldo.

1-0 out of 5 stars Rigid Gender Roles
This book sends a powerful message to little girls about what they can and can't achieve. Unfortunately this book takes no note of the women's movement and all that women have achieved in the last fifty years. Each and every "job" shown in the book upholds rigid gender stereotypes. Every "nurse" is a female animal, every doctor a male animal, every construction worker is represented by a mail, every secretary by a female, right down the line without the slightest variation. It's really a pity Mr. Scary doesn't show a bit of enlightenment on these matters.

5-0 out of 5 stars Looking for Mr. Frumble
This was a cherished book of my childhood. A few years ago I was out looking for this book for myself. I discovered that the newer versions didn't have the story about a day in the life of Mr. Frumble. This was the highlight of the whole book for me. The one I had as a child has been lost. I figure the original had to be published somewhere between 1970 and 1985. If anyone has a way of getting a hold of this version I would be so thankful. My e-mail address is wjengr@flash.net. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars A Must-have book for children with messy rooms
The first time I read this book to my son, almost 5 years old, he quietly sat and thought about it for a while afterwards. It actually motivated him to clean up and keep up (well, for a while at least!) his room. It gives a child great motivation to clean up by showing what treasures they might have lost that might turn up. My almost three year old daughter carries it around with her all the time. A wonderful, sweet and funny book!

4-0 out of 5 stars A great teaching book!
We have read this over and over! My son loves Franklin and wehave been able to use this book to help him understand the importanceof taking care of his room.

4-0 out of 5 stars A pleasure to read with my child.
Like all the Franklin books, I found "Franklin is Messy" a delight to read with my young son. The pictures are lively and the story is one many children can relate to in their own lives. Another important feature is the use of cardboard swords as opposed to toy guns, which Franklin and his friends played with. The swords were used against imaginary dragons and not against each other. I would like to thank the authors for that. Children will play these sorts of games, but in this case the friends aren't directing any violence towards each other. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars The magic school bus inside a hurricane
I liked this book because it is a good way of showing what a hurricane looks like, how they work, what i can/can not do. It talls you how they are formed and where you can go to be safe from a hurricane.

5-0 out of 5 stars Aw, heck. What's not to like?
For those familiar with the "Magic Schoolbus" series, Mrs. Frizzle's adventures with her class all have a similar plotline. Mrs. Frizzle explains some scientific topic, whether it's the solar system, the dinosaurs, etc. and then lures her children onto her special schoolbus for an adventure. During the adventure the only child that is regularly singled out as the perpetual schlamatzel is Arnold, a boy who doesn't care much for adventures, thank you. In the end, the class is safe and has learned quite a lot, despite themselves. Even Arnold. Then there is a "letters" section in the back where readers wishing to complain about scientific inaccuracies (in this case, how dangerous it would be to be caught in a hurricane) are one-upped by already existing letters. The particular plotline in this hurricane obsessed book was not too dissimilar from the others, and was a lot of fun. I used to read these books to kids that I babysat back in my high school years, and certain types of children love them. The pages are always busy with text, speech bubbles, experiments that kids can do at home, and various factoids sprinkled hither and yon. I do wonder how long these series will last before it is regarded as hopelessly dated by the young. Please note that the review previous to my own was last written in 1997. Currently the show is doing well as a tv series, voiced by Lily Tomlin. Just the same, it would be very difficult to read this book to a group of kids. The books are relatively small and crammed with so much extra text that children will want to handle them one on one, rather than with a large group. Each book would pair well with a companion non-fiction book on the same topic.

5-0 out of 5 stars This imaginative book has the creativity to keep kids alive.
I'm a kid and watch the Magic School Bus on TV. The books are even better! When Arnold gets lost in a hurricane on one of Ms.Frizzle's wacky field trips, the kids need to know the parts of a hurricane to find him. I thought it was creative and funny to include a radio that knew everything and could dance. By the time Ms.Frizzle's class goes on the real field trip, they have become experts on hurricanes. The weather team is amazed at the intelligence of the students. This book is great because it's not like those other books that lag on and on about one subject without any excitment. The Magic School Bus books make subjects like hurricanes, fun to learn about . I liked how the kids knew more than the weather team. I give this book two thumbs up!!!!!!!!! ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars The Best Bedtime Book!
We received this book as a gift when my 3 year-old son was born. It has been a family favorite ever since, and now we read it to my 1 year-old daughter, who loves the butterflies. No matter how many times we've read it, my husband and I both get misty when Nicholas curls up in his hollow tree!

5-0 out of 5 stars It's a have to have!
When my 14 year old daughter was little, this was the book she had to have read to her when she went to bed. It was read to her so many times, that by the time she was 3 she had the whole story memorized - and many people thought she could already read! Then, it became the staple for my son. Nine years later, I'm expecting my third child, and have to find a new copy of this book for this baby as it's become a family tradition to read all about Nicholas and his adventures.

5-0 out of 5 stars Such a GREAT Book!!
I had this book when I was little.. i got it in 1981 (year i was born) and I read it so many times!! I had that book memorized! My copy is sitting in my box of baby stuff.......

My son's first bday just past and I just about cried when I saw this book! He just loves it when i read it to him and pays attention to all the bright pictures!

IT'S A MUST for young children!

I was very excited to find out that this book is still in print - I have such vivid and fond memories of this book from my own childhood - of reading it with my Mom but especially gazing at the illustrations. 5-0 out of 5 stars Wonderful!
This book was great for preparing my daughter for an upcoming surgery. It went through the basics of what she would experience, even if the reason for the surgery was different, and it was done with a character she was already familiar with. The day of her surgery she was telling me what would happen next.

5-0 out of 5 stars It's Ok
This shows that it's ok to be scared at the hospital. Franklin got hit in the chest at a soccer game. He ends up having to go to the hospital. He thinks that when you take a x-ray. Everyone will see how scare you are inside. Franklin didn't want everyone to know how scared he was. This a good book for any child that has to go to the hospital. I t shows you don't have to be scared. The doctors and nurses are there to help you.

5-0 out of 5 stars A Must-Have If Your Child Is Having an Operation
I purchased Franklin Goes to The Hospital for my 5 year old son, who was having abdominal surgery last week. He loved the book so much, that he read it every night until the surgery. It really explained all of the different procedures involved in going to the hospital - on a level that he could understand! I strongly recommend this book to any parent who is faced with having to explain surgery to a small child!

5-0 out of 5 stars Highly Recommend for young children facing a hospital visit
Franklin came to our rescue by going to the hospital for an operation. My three-year-old son needed surgery and I wanted to prepare him for all the strange equipment, people, and procedures he would experience. This Franklin book actually had him excited to see the hospital. Many of the routine procedures were familiar to him after reading Franklin. His only disppointment was not seeing Dr. Bear at his hospital. ... Read more

Kipper and his little friend Arnold are on an alphabet search. It allstarts when the young pig Arnold finds an ant. "Aa is for ant. And Arnold."Well, to be perfectly honest, it starts a little earlier, before the book evenofficially begins, when Kipper the pudgy brown dog tells a zebra, "We won't needyou till much, much later." Throughout, as Kipper and Arnold find (and sometimeslose) a buzzing bumblebee, a caterpillar (actually, the caterpillar finds them),a duck, and a menagerie of other alphabetized critters, the earnestly eagerzebra appears, ever hopeful that his day in the sun has arrived. "Nn is for No,not now!" Kipper tells him. After "Juice...And a bit of jam, too," "Splish!Splosh! Splash! And six squishy slugs," and V, which is "very, very hard" (whenthey can't find a volcano, they make a picture of one instead), the zebra asksone last time. "Is it my turn? Is it? Is it?" Kipper is happy to report, "Yy isfor Yes!" The zebra stands proudly in the middle of the page, and everyone says,"Zz is for Zebra!"

Mick Inkpen's enchanting Kipper stories can be found on TV's Nick Jr. andin his many picture books (Kipper, Kipper's Birthday, Kipper's Snowy Day, and lotsmore). This Alphabet Adventure, with its adorable details and wittysubplots, is sure to win hordes of new fans. (Ages 2 to 5) --EmilieCoulter ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars A fun alphabet adventure
We discovered Kipper at the library, having never seen it on tv. Now every time we go to the library, my 3 year old HAS to find a new Kipper book to borrow! This is definitely one of the best we have read, so far. Lots of fun!

5-0 out of 5 stars kreimuller
Ages 3-6 and older children with spatial/visual deficits. Kipper, a sweet little brown dog, and his pink pig friend, Arnold, wander from A to Z finding creatures and things to represent each letter of the alphabet and its sound. Starting with ant, buzzing bumblebee and crawly caterpillar, the pair amuses themselves by seeking out objects for each letter in sequence. The large book format gives enough space for the simple watercolor figures to be silhouetted on a white background along with big, black text with the letter at issue in even bigger, bolder black. Children, even as young as 3 or those with spatial and visual learning deficits, will be hard pushed to miss the letter and its representative, and the sound of each letter is often repeated in descriptive words highlighting it to listening ears. Not only does the book teach the letters and their sounds, but many humorous touches make it multileveled for older children and fun for adults. Such as when Kipper and Arnold cannot find an item for the letter k, older readers will shout out proudly,[KIPPER!] Or, the reappearing zebra who continually wonders when it?s his turn, will bring giggles because everyone knows zebra always comes last at Z. A gentle, sometimes silly wander through the alphabet.

5-0 out of 5 stars GREAT ALPHABET BOOK TO HAVE
I bought this book for my two year old daughter because she has shown an intrest in learning the alphabet. We don't watch Nickaloden so I am not all that familiar with Kipper but you don't have to know anything about him to enjoy this book. Kipper and his friend Arnold the pig are adorable. They guide the reader through the book as each letter of the alphabet is introduced. Periodically a zebra pops up asking if it is his turn yet. It is a clever story and a great learning tool. We read it every day after the all time best alphabet book Chicka Chicka Boom Boom. I don't want to push my daughter into learning the alphabet and these two books have allowed me to present it to her in a fun way.

5-0 out of 5 stars Kipper Alphabet Book is a Hit with 2-1/2 year olds
My 2-1/2 year old twins adore Kipper from the Nick Jr. channel. We've bought all the tapes (more please!) and they beg for Kipper every night. We got a few Kipper books and they like those too. This one is the very best however. Mick Inkpen does a fabulous job with the alphabet in a fresh and fun way that is uniquely "Kipper." If you follow the show, it's really "very Kipper." Pig, Arnold, ducks, Tiger, Jake all make their appearance. Luckily no space bleepers appear. (Mick, please knock off the weird aliens and scary episodes -- my toddlers have declared them "Too scar-wy Mama!" and it really detracts from your core competency.) Buy this one with confidence.

5-0 out of 5 stars Wonderful book!
This book is great! It creatively and humorously takes you through the alphabet with adorable illustrations and fun topics. Kipper and Arnold start at A and meet their Zebra friend at Z, encountering many creatures along the way. Not your typical "A is for apple book," These hosts introduce words like volcano and "No, Not now!" This book can and should definitely be used for children younger than five...a great way to start introducing reading to toddlers! Mick Inkpen has done it again with this wonderful book! ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Great Book - AND Durable TOO
I don't usually do reviews, but this book has survived for 3.5 yrs now which is unusual for the "lift the flap books". I have 16 mo twins and my little girl twin likes these kinds of books but finds them to be the "lift and rip and tear" books. Not so with this book - the flaps have actually survived her curiosity and destructiveness! And of course, we all love Bear, Tutter and his friends. A worthwhile purchase for your kids library.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Book For Little Kids
I bought this book for my 15 month-old son, and he adores it. Of his many children's books this book is one of his favorites by far. The pages are easy for little hands to turn, it is a steardy board book, and the flaps are easy to lift and fun for small children. The illustrations are bright and colorful, so it keeps the attention span of little ones. He especailly loves to open the big flap at the end of the book that reveals Luna, the moon. If your child likes Bear in the Big Blue House and Lift- the-Flaps books, they will love this book.

5-0 out of 5 stars AN ESSENTIAL COMPANION FOR BEAR LOVERS
.

If your pre-schoolers love " Bear in the Big Blue House" on TV, they will adore this book.

Jim Henson has over the years created some very lovable characters. The Bear has to be one of the best so far.

In this "Lift the Flap" book we get to meet all Bear's friends. We have Pip and Pop covered in suds in the bath. And then there's Treelo under the bed covers and Ojo under the sofa.

Open the shutters and look out the attic window. Who do we see? It's our special friend Luna.

A perfect bed time book for the young ones.

"Good night, my friend" says Bear.

4-0 out of 5 stars A great book for 1 & 1/2 year olds and up.
This book is a great adjunct to the TV show. As new parents we are just learning about ALL the kids shows. We can't stand the Purple Dino, So we like Tele-Tubbies and such. We discovered this show on the Disney Channel and Our child likes The Big Bear, Luna the Moon, and all the songs.

As for the Flaps, as all parent know or will find out, little kids will pull them off if not watched when they play with the books on their own

She can already find all the characters by name and loves to point to them as we say the names, since she still has a Caveman vocabulary. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars A Hot Day at Maisy's Place
If you are the parent of a young child, you probably know who Maisy is. She's a mouse with a duck, a squirrel, an elephant, and a crocodile for friends. Why the crocodile isn't trying to eat the others is beyond me, but that's life in Maisy's workd.

Both of my daughters love the Maisy books; there's something about their simple stories and colorful pictures that even appeals to adults. The books are short and easy to read. But, the stories are never obnoxiously simplistic, like so many other books for small children.

It's a hot summer day and Maisy pulls out her pool to cool off. But she runs into a few problems when she finds a leak in the pool and then has her friend Eddie the Elephant decide to sit in it. Will Maisy ever be able to cool off?

5-0 out of 5 stars Perfect for one-year-olds!
I've read this book so many times to my 15-month-old, I can recite it from memory! He started going nuts for it around the time he turned one; that's when he wanted a little more of a story line. This book and the other three in the group (Maisy's Bedtime, Maisy Dresses Up, and Maisy Makes Gingerbread) are one step up from the one-picture-and-one-word per page kinds of books for babies, but not so high up that they start having way too much text per page. A typical page in this book is "Maisy and Talullah are feeling hot." Just one or two simple sentences and one wonderful bright Lucy Cousins illustration per page-spread; ten page-spreads total. ... Oprah Book Club® Selection, December 1997: The first three books in Bill Cosby's Little Bill series, which fall somewhere between Fat Albert and Fatherhood in sensibility, are designed to help kids cope with tough social situations. In The Meanest Thing to Say Little Bill must figure out how to avoid the challenge offered by the new kid in his class, "The Dozens," a duel of insults Bill doesn't want to join. With his family's help (which is free of preaching), Bill finds a solution.

Dr. Alvin F. Poussant, a frequent Cosby collaborator and advisor, adds a useful introduction to explain why Little Bill not only beats the game, but also goes on to befriend its instigator. (The publisher recommends the book for ages 4-8, but because the author is Bill Cosby, kids up to age 10 would probably accept the counsel offered by this volume and others in the series.) ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Little Bill learns an important lesson about trash talking
As soon as you see that the title of this Little Bill Book for Beginning Readers by Bill Cosby is "The Meanest Thing to Say," I am sure you start to think of what would be the meanest thing you could say to somebody. Young readers will probably do the same thing, but I think older readers might have an advantage on coming up with really mean things to say. However, the important thing is that I serious doubt that any of us, regardless of our age and/or experience with saying mean things, will come up with the same thing that Cosby does in this story.

The situation is that there is a new boy in Little Bill's class named Michael Reilly. During recess when Little Bill and his friends start to play basketball Michael comes over and announces that he knows a better came. It is called Playing the Dozens and the idea is that you get twelve chances to say something mean to a person and whoever says the meanest thing wins. Jose and Andrew start playing the game, coming up with mean things to say about each other, and then Michael turns to little bill and says, "You shoot like a girl." But then the bell rings and Little Bill has until the next day to thing up the meanest possible thing to say back to Michael.

As Dr. Alvin F. Poussaint the Harvard Clinical Professor of Psychiatry explains in his letter to parents at the start of this book, sooner or later most children are going to meet other children who are deliberately mean. In that situation kids can either fight back to try to retreat. But in this book Cosby offers an alternative course of action that keeps the situation from escalating to something bad. Poussaint points out that this tactic might not always be practical, but the key thing here is that Cosby shows young readers that there are creative way to resolve conflicts with other children that do not involve losing face or resorting to violence. In these books, which he always dedicates to his son Ennis, Cosby has found a perfect way of combining his storytelling skills and his interest in educating.

There are a couple of other things I really liked about this book, which is illustrated by Varnette P. Honeywood. The first is that it is essentially about trash talking, which has become an epidemic in sports and something that I can live without. Being witty is one thing, but meaning mean is another (shooting off your mouth in a basketball game does not get you any points). The other is that in this particular book Big Bill is the one that comes up with the solution. Usually it is Alice the Great or some other member of the family that seems to be coming up with the necessary wisdom in these stories, so it was nice to know that Big Bill can do more than say the wrong thing and have his wife give him a funny look.

5-0 out of 5 stars Age old playground problem tackled
Bill Cosby's series of "Little Bill" books (before it became a regular T.V. series on Nick Jr.)are a big hit with kids and parents alike. Oprah even recommended "Meanest Thing to Say", which looks at bullying in school. Little Bill's parents are involved and caring, presenting the choices he has in order to deal with this. Bullying and tormenting are a staple in every school, and in every generation. This wonderful book helps parents to show their children that thay are not alone, and more importantly, how they really can cope in the face of a classmate's taunting.

5-0 out of 5 stars Words Can Never Hurt Me
Little Bill is faced with a dilemma. Michael, a new kid at school, has invented a new game called "Playing the Dozens". The winner of the game is the person who can say the meanest things about others. Little Bill does not like the game and finds a unique way to play without hurting others.

Young children can relate to the message of this story and its colorful illustrations. The book instills morals, values, and teaches the lesson that saying mean things and name-calling can hurt others. The story also presents an excellent way kids can cope with being called names in addition to showing how to amicably deal with a bully.

5-0 out of 5 stars Dealing with bullies
I discovered this book when seeking children's books about dealing with bullies. I was very pleased with this book. I especially like how Little Bill's father demonstrated a clever way to handle the bully by simply saying "So?" to anything he said.

With recent disturbing events of school shootings, it's important for parents to teach their chilren peaceful alternatives in dealing with bullies. Mr. Cosby's story is a fairly normal and benign story of a school yard bully, but his solution is clever and non-violent.

5-0 out of 5 stars Handled it well!
Unfortunately, I recently came across The Meanest Thing to Say in an African-American bookstore. Once I read it to my 4 and 5 year old they enjoyed it. I feel in this book you handled a bully situation well. Most people as we know generally tease and bully because of things lacking within themselves, simple jealousy, or for attention. It definitely helped my little girl. Thanks Bill and Varnette. Keep up the good work. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars MAgic school bus "cake"
I liked this book, it was interrasting and it had made me read more and omre till i got through it all. I like the part when the shrunk and the guy was chaseing them and the flew into the cake and went into the oven i didn't think there would make it out.

4-0 out of 5 stars Kitchen Chemistry Fizzes
When their inimitable school bus goes on the fritz (or should I say, "frizz"?,) the students get worried: this is one field trip they don`t want to miss. They`re trying to give their unique teacher a surprise birthday party and need to get to the bakery for the cake. When they finally reach their destination, the unstable bus suddenly shrinks, with everyone in it, to the size of a moth. They dodge the baker`s fly swatter and Ms Frizzle while using kitchen chemistry to get the job done. My boys and I miss the volume of information and mini "reports" of the original series, but they still learn and have fun at the same time. They have a new respect for cooking, as edible chemistry. And the baking soda experiment at the back of the book is a rainy day standby in our household: we love the fizz from the Frizz!

3-0 out of 5 stars Good short stories, but has nothing to do with bedtime.
This book is a nice collection of short stories, but none of the stories have a thing to do with falling asleep. Buy this book because you want more of Richard Scarry's wonderful stories, not because you want to soothe your child to sleep. I myself feel let down because I thought I was buying stories to put my child to sleep to.

5-0 out of 5 stars My son (3 and 1/2) loves these stories, however...
Great stories with great characters, but if you've already purchased "Funniest Stories Ever..." then don't bother with "Bedtime Stories" because "Bedtime..." merely contains a subset of the stories found in "Funniest", with no new material what-so-ever.

This was needless to say rather disappointing to find out, following the online purchase.

3-0 out of 5 stars Richard Scarry's Bedtime Stories
This is a delightful books for young readers -- it falls in the 4-8 age range, but is probably more appropriate for 3-5 age range. Some of our favorite characters, Lowly, Huckle and friends ease younger sleepers into sleep. It was particularly helpful in lulling to sleep a newly-minted older brother who was eager not to miss any of his new baby's "action." Richard Scarry is wonderful at that! ... Read more

Book Description

Arthur has the hiccups, and none of the traditional cures suggested by his parents help. Ignoring his pesky sister D.W., who claims she knows how to get rid of them, he calls on his friends for help. The Brain suggests standing on his head; Buster says laughter is the best cure and reads him jokes; Muffy’s old family cure is licking a lollipop while hanging upside down. But nothing does the trick. Dejected and still hiccuping, Arthur goes to bed. And that is when D.W. proves she really does know how to get rid of hiccups.
