5-0 out of 5 stars Long Search Finally Ends
I must have read this Little Golden Book book to my daughter over 1000 times. She absolutely loved it as a child. Even though she had memorized the words she insisted on having it read to her every night and she caught me every time I tried to turn two pages at once.

For several years, she had unsuccessfully searched for this book so she could read it to her two sons aged 1 and 3. I was thrilled to see that it was recently re-published and available on Amazon[.com].

The story line involves a baby bear who hides on his father's shoulders when it is time for him to go to bed. The father bear "searches" all over the house for "little bear" who is nowhere to be found. At long last, the father bear looks in a mirror and discovers "little bear" who is perched on his shoulders. A simple story, but one which absolutely fascinated my daughter. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars A thing writen by SHE-MAN
Hello Animorph fans. I read that K.A Applegate reads these kinda things.
This book is insane. i wouldn't say it's the best of the series, but definitely one of the best. It starts out when Rachel must go to a Yeerk ship, alone all alone, and she must kill Tom, so the morphing cube won't go into the evil of the Yeerks all throughout the universe. I don't know why Applegate chose Rachel, but my theory is at the end. As almost everyone knows, she dies fighting. So did Tom. Though I really don't understand why Jake sent her to kill Tom in the first place, cuz the cube went to the other Yeerks on the ship.
So Rachel dies, and the rest of the team capture the mother ship, where Visser 3/1 was. So lade lade la they save the world at last, and they become well known. Jake, Marco, and Cassie are heroes. Ax is a prince, and Tobias and Rachel are known as the forgotten animorphs.
So eveythings cool for some years, which Marco gives a brief and funny summary of what happened aferwards. Ax goes back to his home planet, bla bla bla. But something happens ( doesn't something always happen ) and Ax is missing, and the other Animorphs (except for Cassie) go in search for him with another Andalite. What if theres something more evil out there that control the Yeerks?
Anywayz thats about it. Theres a nice surprise at the ending too. My theory about Applegate choosing Rachel: Well in one of the books in the series, can't remember which one, they say: We don't know what will happen to Rachel when the war is over. So i think Applegate couldn't figure what to do about Rachel, ( No offense Applegate) so she made her die doing a brave thing.
That's all.

2-0 out of 5 stars sigh..KA could you please write more Animorphs?
I've read all of the animorphs books at least three times. They were/are my favorite series. I started reading them as a freshmen in high school, and still find myself re-reading them as a junior in college.
I expected the series to end as it did. Rachel was way too violent to remain alive, and Jake and Cassie's relationship had to end b/c of the blue box issue a couple books earlier. However, after the Visser trial (which reminded me of the war trials after WWII) the rest of the book basically stunk. I'm not taking about how everyone's lives were changed, especially Jake and Tobias's- (If their lives did not turn out as they did I would have been a bit angry because it would have been so unrealistic). I'm talking about how in the span of a few pages KA thrust us into a new situation and just left us hanging. I thought this was horribly arrogant of her! I mean, after readers have invested years of our time in her books and come to know and love each character-boom! that's it. and we're left with a feeling of "WHAT?" So pretty much because of that cruel trick KA played I hated this book. I was looking for closure not more confusion!
Honestly, KA if you'd consider continuing where you left off-I'd be a loyal reader for the next 60+ books.

4-0 out of 5 stars I can't believe it's over...
Like the reviewer above, I began this series many years ago when it came out. I was only in sixth grade and I fell in love with it instantly. I still love them and this book was great but...
So many loose ends, I mean the last part with the ramming of the ship? I need answers! And I can't believe that she did that to Tobias. He is in many ways like me and My favorite character. You should have given him happiness Applegate! Anyway, it's a great, if not very sad book and I will miss all the characters deeply. They were very real to me and companions, I only hope that one day she will answer the cliff hanger.

2-0 out of 5 stars this is about the movies, good story..but not the animorphs
I got this movie thinking oh my gosh it's really an animorphs movie.I had read all the books and loved them but when I got the movie it was totally different from the book.Almost everything was left out.for instance in the book when jake was turned into a controller the yeerk inside him turned into a tiger then his dog.in this he turned into a tiger and was caught by the other animorphs.also axe does many things that were not at all in the story and everything in the book did not happen at all.you can buy these but don't get your hopes up!!!!also they look nothing like they do in the cover and have completely different morphs

5-0 out of 5 stars Animorphs: the Beginning
I think that this concluding book of the series is great. It portrays emotions, friendship and kinship. This book is the best book I have ever read. The content is amazing. Although I have only read it once, I have remembered the content as clearly as when I have read it. Good Job, KA. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Anyone remember Colorforms (tm)
I avoided this book for some time. I wasn't interested in anything with "stickers" for my young son. (I could just see them being attached to the wood furniture.) At some point we ended up with the book. I was shocked that the "stickers" were actually "colorforms", something that I had been looking for. The "stickers" are made of a thin plastic with the pictures printed on them. The "pages" of the book are made of a stiff board material.

Ironically I was looking for colorforms for my son. When I inquired at the local toy stores they all told me that Colorforms were no longer in production.

4-0 out of 5 stars good intro. to the planets
This is a simple, not too many details book about the planets. It is a good place to get kids wondering what is up there with a catchy little song from the Steve era of the show.

4-0 out of 5 stars Blue and Steve's introduction to the solar system
One of the best episode's of the Blue's Clues television series is the one that introduces the solar system. "Well, the sun's a hot star .... Mercury's hot too. Venus is the brightest planet .... etc."

There is not much text here. Basically the song is repeated twice, with text bubbles advising you where to place the many colorful and durable stickers depicting the planets, a shooting star, a rocket and various other solar system-y things.

5-0 out of 5 stars Get it!
My three year old knows all the planets thanks to Blue and Steve. This is the second time I have purchased this same book. My son placed the reusable stickers in the black dishwasher. It looked just like outer space and he would sing the song over and over. It just so happened that Mommy actually needed to wash the dishes, and the heat from the dry cycle melted the stickers! So I had to get a new book for him. So please, don't place the stickers where they can melt, or your child my have a melt down of his own!

5-0 out of 5 stars Blue conquers the world!
My son is a HUGE fan of Blue's Clues and he's also fascinated by the solar system. We were both really excited when we found Blue Skidoos to the Planets because he loved the episode of the show. He couldn't wait to get home and put the stickers in the book. He is able to read the entire book by himself and he can sing the song, too. He's only six, but he can name all of the planets thanks to this book. Thank you Steve and Blue for being such wonderful friends to preschoolers! ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars More Science!
My son is 4 years old and we read to him a lot. Now, before bed, he announces, "Mom, you know what kind of book to read....ONLY SCIENCE!" He loves science, and the Magic School Bus is a great, fun way to introduce it, even to a preschooler!

4-0 out of 5 stars Beekeeper's Review
Kids (of all ages) ask the darndest things. When we work fairs or are identified as beekeepers in public, we are bomberded with basic questions regarding honeybees. This book was bought for my mother as much as for my brother's son. He asks her questions difficult to answer without pictures, "How do bees make wax...?" This book goes into enough detail to answer all the "How do...?'s" likely to come up regarding honeybees. A fine book for any child interested in insects. Also a good selection to temper the fears of those children that may fear bees. The pages are a little busy, otherwise would have gotten 5 stars.

5-0 out of 5 stars Once again, Magic School Bus hits the mark!
The full details in this book are simple enough to keep children's interests (mine are ages 4 and 8) but still provide more data than even I knew. The subject matter is of particular interest to kids, not only because bees are encountered nearly every day, but this book helps this overcome the fear that some children have of bees by showing them as peaceful, otherwise occupied and busy creatures. Don't miss this, or any other Magic School Bus book if you have kids! ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Franklin Fibs
This story was about a turtle named Franklin who lies to his friends. Franklin's friends can all do something unique like climbing the highest tree, flying over the berry patch without flapping their wings, and chopping down a tree with using just their teeth. Well Franklin gets really jealous so he makes up a lie. He tells all of his friends he can eat 76 flies in the blink of an eye. The lesson this book teaches is not to lie. The age level of this book is about from ages 5-8. I liked this book because it teaches an important lesson that all children need to learn.

5-0 out of 5 stars A Gentle Friend
Feeling overwhelmed by the amazing accomplishments of his friends, Franklin wants to feel important, too. Brashly he fibs about how many flies he can eat in the blink of an eye. Then he must deal with the consequences of his lie. As Franklin learns about proper conduct and relationships, children can identify with the situations of this gentle friend. They may need help in understanding what a fib or a lie is. Now if the authors would only write about Franklin's Awful Word or Franklin is Rude.

5-0 out of 5 stars Funny, interactive book
I'm glad there are authors like Richard Scarry, who appreciate the great sense of humor children have. This book is beautifully and cleverly built, folding out into a long train (my two year old was "driving" it around the house yesterday) and containing lots of flaps to peek behind. There are many silly details (crocodiles crying their crocodile tears) and an exciting premise: will Bananas Gorilla ever find his bananas?!? My son looks at dejected Bananas and feels real empathy for him. This book has provided many hours of fun for us.

4-0 out of 5 stars Fun -- though not exactly a "book"
This book doesn't have much text but folds out into a VERY long yet sturdy train, with the usual whimsical Richard Scarry illustrations, plus some open the flap surprises. It's fun, but ultimately it doesn't offer as much as, say, "What Do People Do All Day?" or "Cars and Trucks and Things That Go" or other classic Scarry books.

5-0 out of 5 stars My son's favorite book!

5-0 out of 5 stars Let's go to the dentist!
this is the BEST dentist book i have yet to get for my son! He loves it,and I do too!

The 'real' pictures are an added bonus and everything is done just right!

You won't be dissapointed!

5-0 out of 5 stars Great book for any Barney fan!
Even though the age for this book is from 4-8, my 2 year old loves it. She asks to read, "Barney Dentist" all of the time, even though she has about 15 other Barney books. I hope it will help her to not be afraid of the dentist when it comes her time to go.

5-0 out of 5 stars Simply Brilliant!
There has been a noted shortage of great allegorical novels in recent years; "Barney Goes To The Dentist" plays a great role in redressing the balance. Ms Dowdy's simple tale of a purple dinosaur's trip to the dentist serves as an excellent background for a narration of the change of political paradigms in Europe after the Spanish victory over the Turks at Lepanto in 1571. The novel draws heavily from G. K. Chesterton's narrative poem, but Ms Dowdy is able to bring a great deal that is all her own. I found particularly notable and ironic the manner in which she addressed the reaction of Antwerp anabaptists after the battle and King Philip's response. I would say that Ms Dowdy perhaps gives less credit than do traditional sources to Don Juan of Austria's role in subsequent Hapsburg military affairs, but this approach is interesting, even if you disagree with it. In short, an interesting and enlightening approach to an valuable topic.

4-0 out of 5 stars Barney Goes to the Dentist
This is a great book for your child to get to see the inside of the Dentist Office and not be afraid because Barney is there. Great tool for the teachers or Dental Professional to use to talk with small children for Childrens Dental Health Month. (Febuary)

5-0 out of 5 stars An excellent book for a child's first visit to the dentist.

3-0 out of 5 stars My Daughter's First Maisy Book
If you are the parent of a young child, you probably know who Maisy is. She's a mouse with a duck, a squirrel, an elephant, and a crocodile for friends. Why the crocodile isn't trying to eat the others is beyond me, but that's life in Maisy's world.

Both of my daughters love the Maisy books; there's something about their simple stories and colorful pictures that even appeals to adults. The books are short and easy to read. But, the stories are never obnoxiously simplistic, like so many other books for small children.

This was the first Maisy book we ever bought our oldest daughter. Both of of our daughters still like it as Maisy attempts to take a bath but finds herself interrupted by Tallulah. Not one of my personal favorites, although I really can't explain why. I suspect my children are part fish, so maybe they like it because of that fact and because they love bath time (or any other opportunity to get wet).

3-0 out of 5 stars Tepid
I like Maisy as a character, and I like the look of Cousins's drawings. However, I can't help but feel slightly disappointed by this book. First, the narrative voice seems to shift back and forth between Maisy and some omniscient entity, which smaller kids may find disturbing. Second, the plot is unengaging and repetitive. Third, the character of Tallulah is poorly conceived and confusing. I prefer her books that highlight the drawing without a narrative context.

5-0 out of 5 stars Maisy Mania
We were given this book as a hand me down in a bag of about 50 others. This is my 22 month old's favorite of them all and I'm here to buy more Maisy books. She can't wait until the end when Tallulah jumps in the tub so she can say "no no!" Last night I had to read it to her 3 times in a row! She loves it but I need some variety! :)

5-0 out of 5 stars Tallulah, You Naughty Thing You!
Yep- it's a keeper. Maisy is just so patient and wonderful, as always. But pushy, impatient Tallulah keeps showing up. What can Maisy do?? Nothing, it seems, cause Tallulah is going to do just what she wants, which is play with Maisy. This one caused some concern for my 3-year old son, who wanted to know if I'd be angry if *his* friend, "a girl with braids" came and took a bath with *him*.

5-0 out of 5 stars A delight to read, and enticing for toddlers
When my toddler started to show reluctance at taking baths, I found this Maisy book. Now with Maisy's help, she's enjoying bathtime again, and even asks to be read "Maisy Takes a Bath" when it isn't bathtime. The illustrations are simple enough for a toddler to see and understand. It's a little strange that Maisy refers to herself in the third person. ... Read more

"Willow, what have you done?"
-- Buffy, "Villains"

In the woods outside Sunnydale, Willow Rosenberg has exacted a terrible revenge for the murder of her lover Tara Maclay: She has captured Warren, the murderous leader of the Trio, and flayed him alive. Her best friends, Buffy Summers and Xander Harris, arrived too late to stop her.

But the death of Warren isn't enough for Willow. Now her friends can only watch as the juiced-up witch sets off on a trail of vengeance and magick-gathering to prepare the spell that will bring Tara back to life. And whoever gets in Willow's way is going to regret it...including one Slayer who is still hoping to save her best friend. ... Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars Worse. Book. Ever.
Well, maybe not that bad, but it is fairly awful.
ME did enough damage by killing one lesbian and making the other go insane with Season Six of Buffy. Navarro here just makes matters worse allowing her to work out her latent homophobia here. She has commented before on how much she hates Tara.
A completely rotten book with nothing more than a "wouldn't it be kewl if..." plot device. I can't understand how she wrote one book on this premise, let alone three.
But the one redeeming quality of the this book is that it is tacit admission that Dark Magic Willow was handled very badly. Also anything that nullifies the even worse Season Seven is not so bad.
Don't waste your time or money. There are so many great books out there. This is not one of them.

1-0 out of 5 stars Like a bad bad fan fiction
This book is a spectacularly amateurish level of writing. It boggles the mind anyone would have let this go to print. I recomend searching the web for anyone elses fan fic on the topic and save 6 bucks. In fact, I would beg you to do this..

1-0 out of 5 stars Waste of Time
As someone else posted the book is riddled with spelling errors which could be forgiven if the plot was actually interesting. The wicked Willow thing was already a rip off of the Dark Phoenix story in X-Men and this novel carries the plot to the point of absurdity. In any case, there is no what if to wicked Willow, the story was played out on the show. The logical conclusion of wicked Willow not stopping is the end of the world. There's a reason that this was a path not taken. The polt gymnastics used to keep the plot going don't make any sense. In addition, Willow is completely out of character here as are Anya, Buffy and Xander. (...)Dont waste your time.

1-0 out of 5 stars Prue Drivel
Negative stars.

The Dark Magic Willow was a bad enough idea, to take a bad idea and run with it is far worse. But not only is the concept bad, the writting is on the level of Fan-Fiction. I was shocked to learn that Ms. Navarro had written other books because this looks like a first attempt to me.

Save your money and time. Even if you like Willow there is none of the Willow we knew here. Even for an AU.

4-0 out of 5 stars A less than stellar start to the "Wicked Willow" trilogy
"The Darkening" is the first book of the "Wicked Willow" trilogy by Yvonne Navarro which asks the question, "What if Evil Willow was never stopped?" The story begins with Willow inspecting Warren's skinned corpse at the end of "Villains." Buffy, Xander, and Anya show up to see Willow's handiwork but before the wicked witch of Sunnydale can say "One down, two to go" she experiences a split second of weirdness and things become very different. Instead of going after Jonathan and Andrew, Willow decides to banter with Buffy over Warren's fate, turning her cold fury into hot rage in the process. Nothing is going to stand in the way of her revenge.

Okay, so we have a reasonable set up to explore the path not taken. However, the problem is that is Wicked Willow is at DEFCON 5 at this point and we are still in the prologue of the first book of a trilogy, then it is going to be hard to keep escalating from here to the end, seven or eight hundred pages later. So instead, Navarro executes a sharp turn, which is sort of necessitated because if Evil Willow is never stopped then the world ends. Now Willow's immediate plan is no longer revenge, but resurrection, despite rather impressive indications that Tara cannot be brought back from a natural death. However, this decision undercuts the entire set up. Willow wins the initial battle between Buffy and Giles, but this time the victory is quicker and more significant. Then we settle into something of a waiting game where interesting new developments, such as Willow's selection of a pair of pets, really does not go anywhere. Navarro comes up with a great character idea in Ross, but abandons him as well. At the end, when the characters take stock of their situation and reaffirm their goals, I did not get the sense that we had moved much beyond where we essentially started.

Season Six of "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" just came out on DVD so the way the unexpected way the season finished, with Darth Rosenberg turning out to be the surprise Big Bad at the end and with the world being saved this time around by Xander and the memory of a yellow crayon. The whole point of telling an alternative version of a story is to come up with something special and Navarro has not really let the cat out of the bag on what that would be here. Ironically, given that Evil Willow wanted to end the world, the alternative has to be something else, which, by definition, would tend to be less significant.

I also have a continuity question with "The Darkening" in that it is suggested that Dawn no longer has memories of the Scoobies that predate her appearance in Season Five. If there was something in "BtVS" that suggested that was the case I must have missed it. Then there is the idea that Dawn, who finally gets a moment to do something in "Grave" because there is really no other choice, would be sent off to be part of a battle on purpose, which I do not buy. Then there is the issue of Tara's Ghost, which I suspect is more than it appears to be. After all, I do not think she really sounds like Tara and since she is the biggest change between this alternative story line and the original I am both wary and suspicious.

However, the most problematic character in the book is Anya, which makes sense because she is the most problematic character in the series and in the "BtVS" original novels. The Anya who talked Xander into attending the Prom during Season 3 ended up replacing him as the comic relief in the series and the idea that she would not stop talking about their sex life was done to death (and beyond). Anya's lack of the social graces was also overplayed: she had been a vengeance demon for over a millennium, so how come in all that vengeance mongering she failed to pick up on any contemporary social conventions? But here the question is her feelings for Xander, which seem to be rather different from what they were in the final three episodes from Season Six. Navarro is trying to take more advantage of Anya being a demon again, and I keep tyring to figure out if she is going to be playing a pivotal role in what is to come.

The goal of the first book in a series such as this is have us wondering what will happen next, but with "The Darkening" I am still trying to figure out what is going on in the first book that provides a great hook for the next volumes. When I compare what we had at the end of either of the first two volumes in Michael Golden's "The Lost Slayer" serial novel, what we have here does not even compare. There may well be something suitably wicked coming this way and it could be set up by what is here, but we have yet to come to the point in the "Wicked Willow" tragedy where we get hooked big time. I give this one the benefit of the doubt only because I cannot imagine the editors would give the go ahead for a "BtVS" trilogy that would not justify being told in more than one book. But at this point the best that can be said is that the pieces are being moved into position for something bigger and better. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Cassie goes to Austrailia
In this book, Cassie gets stuck in the cargo hold of a plane going to Sydney and the Yeerks intercept the plane. Cassie morphs bird and flies out of the plane, and lands in the Austrailian Outback. Visser Three also goes to the Outback. Will Cassie survive, or will she fail? Will she ever get home? Read the book to find out!

5-0 out of 5 stars Original and worth a read
When Cassie boards the cargo hold of an aircraft at an airport during a battle with the Yeerks, she doesn't realise that it's about to take off- until it's too late. The Animorphs have been split up before and they've had to fight battles without one another. But this time's very different: not only is Cassie totally alone, but she's managed to find herself in Australia. In the rural Outback- and the other Animorphs and Ax don't even know she's there.

Cassie doesn't have any idea where she's going, or if she can even survive the rugged terrain. But she does know she has to get to a town or village and contact her family and friends. Because she just realized that there's someone else who is also new to the Outback. Visser Three.

5-0 out of 5 stars A different book
This book is great! Cassie goes to Australia in this book. It's different and fun.

4-0 out of 5 stars An Okey Book

4-0 out of 5 stars Interesting Book
The great part about this book is hhow Miss Applegate creates three main characters and one by one shows each of their points of view. One from an Andilite, who is visiting with her partents to the planet. Another a Hork-Bajir seer, named Dak Hamee, who will one day lead his people to something he has yet to find out. And the last, a Yeerk named Esplin 9466, who is trying to invade the Hork-Bajir homeworld. I would recomend this book to young to teen readers who enjoy Sci-fi-ish books and who won't mind the switch of different main characters. I myself happen to like the Chronical books, I think they are more interesting than the short Animorphs chapter books. It would be nice if K.A. Applegate made the book a bit longer, just to see what happened after the Yeerks made the invasion.

5-0 out of 5 stars The Begining Of The Yeerk Invasion
The Hork Bajir Chronicles by KA Applegate is an awesome book! This story is about the hork bajir war before the earth invasion. The main characters are Aldrea (daughter of prince Seerow) Dak Hamee (a hork bajir seer) and Esplin 9466 (visser 3). The andalites are trying their best to stop the yeerks from infesting the hork bajir to use their bodies for shock troops.

I like this book because I enjoy animorphs books a lot and it is fun knowing the things that happen before the animorphs. On a scale of 1 to 10 I would rate this book like all other animorphs books a 10.

I think K.A Applegate wrote this book to make a good kids book with action and other things kids find interesting.

4-0 out of 5 stars Very Interesting
Dak Hamee, born into the Hork-Bajir tribe, is something special from the start. "Strange," says his mother. "A seer," says the Old One, Tila Fashat. "A seer is one who is born to show a new way. Many, many seasons pass, then our father, the Deep, and our mother, the Sky, say, 'Send a seer to the people. The people have need.' And so one is born who is different." When strange and different Dak meets Aldrea, the clever Andalite daughter of Prince Seerow, they learn together of the dangerous plot of the Yeerks, and of Esplin 9466, who will stop at nothing to build his empire. Learn more about Prince Seerow's Kindness, find out how Andalites kiss, and plumb the mysteries of the Deep in this suspense-filled story of good, evil, and interspecies love. (Ages 9 to 12)

4-0 out of 5 stars A pleasing book to read
This book is about the battle between the Hork Bajir and the Yeerks. A young Andalite female, Aldrea vows to fight the Yeerks by the side of the Hork Bajir seer, Dak Hamee. Her parents were killed in the fight and she rouse with more anger. But, because of Prince Alloran's deadly mistake, the Hork Bajir world fell to the Yeerks. You will also know about who actually is Visser Three. The prologue and epilogue are touching to read. This book is not a must read for Animorph fans since there are no animorphs in the book. The body is quite boring also. But it is still a good buy for extreme Animorph fans.

This book is narrated excellently.

4-0 out of 5 stars Well narrated and fun to read!!!
The Hork Bajir Chronicles is a varied and well explained story. This book is all about Aldrea(Andalite), Dak Hamee(Hork Bajir seer). The Yeerk war with the Hork Bajir is a bit boring. It is readable only for extreme Animorph fans. The prologue and epilogue are quite touching. This is definitely not a must read for Animorph fans, since the only person we know is Esplin 9466 who is now Visser Three.

It is not a bad buy though! ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Franklin Is Bossy
Franklin Is Bossy in this book. He always wants to do what he wants to do. He won't let his friends pick the game... whether its baseball, marbles, racing, or just swimming. Every time Franklin starts losing he decides to change the game. He gets into a fight with bear and he goes home and plays with himself but gets bored. So he decides to go see if his friends are still mad at him. They are not they had forgiven him. Until he starts telling his friends where to play when they are playing baseball so they all leave. He goes home and helps his father all day because all his friends are mad at him. I think it is a very good book for younger kids because they have to learn to share and they will not always get everything they want. But it also points out that you can't be mad at your friends forever because at the end of the book Franklin and Bear make up.

5-0 out of 5 stars Mr. Bossy
Franklin is Mr. bossy in this book. He doesn't let his friends give their opinion on what they want to do. Franklin always pickw want they are going to do or play. Franklin and Bear get into a agrument over whether it's too hot to play baseball or not. Franklin stomps off. Then Franklin finds out playing by himself is no fun at all. Franklin decides to go apologize to Bear, but before he can he mets Bear on the way. It shows the kids that if you are too bossy no one will want to play with you. They will always be there when you realize that you were to bossy and want to be friends again.

5-0 out of 5 stars wonderful!
This was the first in the series that i bought for my 21/2 year old nephew. He loved it and demands that his Dad read it over and over again. Of course I was led to to buy several others. My nephew is very cognizant of the powerful message that is sent by each story and asks many questions. He has been attending school for a year now and is particulary taken by "Franklin meets a friend" The illustrations are of course rich in color and activity. My nephew engages in discussion during the reading because of the so very interesting illustrations. I recommend the series highly to all parents!

4-0 out of 5 stars "Franklin is Bossy" is a wonderful book for children
This book is a classic, and a must have for every child's library. Every book in the "Franklin" series captivates children in a fun and delightful way. Franklin is a character that children can relate to; and the situations he ends up in are situations they can always learn from. This is true even more-so for "Franklin is Bossy." Follow Franklin through his wonderful world, as he learns the value of taking turns, and listening to others' opinions. It's a fun, colorful story and lesson that no child should be without! ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Ax and the Animorphs have a weapon, but might not be lucky.
"What's tasty, good for you, and only takes about sixty seconds to make? Oatmeal." If it's instant maple and ginger oatmeal, it's a weapon against the Yeerks. By the way, Yeerks are parasitic slugs that enter other living bodies through the ear canal, seep into the nooks and crannies in the brain, then take over the body and read its memories like a book.

So this oatmeal weapon sounds good right? But that's where your wrong. It might mean a trip to the Yeerk pool, a chance of running into Visser Three once again, and this time there might not be a way to get back to the surface. "The Animorphs and Ax have taken chances before and been very lucky. But this time their luck may be about to run out . . ."

3-0 out of 5 stars not the best
In this book the Animorphs and Ax find out that instant rasien cinnimon oatmeal will make a Yeerk free from Kandrona, but the Yeerk will go insane. The Yeerk will stay in the host's head, no needing Kandrona, but the host will be in control almost all of the time. So the animorphs morphs moles and dig into a bat cave, then morphs bats and go into the Yeerk pool. Read the book to find out what happens next!

5-0 out of 5 stars The Underground
Rachel, the other Animorphs, and Ax have discovered a new super weapon against the Yeerks. It's easy to get. It's lightweight. It's instant oatmeal. It doesn't actually destroy the aliens, but its effect on them is so powerful that the kids know they have to try to use it. To help slow down the invasion. It means another trip down to the Yeerk pool. And the possibility of not being able to get back up to the surface.

4-0 out of 5 stars Reader Over 25
Synapsis: This one starts off in traditional Animorphs fashion with a bang, as Rachel and the others morph into birds of prey to "attend" a Planet Hollywood opening from the air. While there, Rachel sees a man about to commit suicide by jumping from a window, and the Animorphs rush to a very messy rescue, which a very famous star gets the credit for. A link is formed in the plot with Rachel's lawyer mother, who is representing the family of the man who jumped. He claims to have an alien living inside of his head, and goes utterly insane at some moments, other times he's perfectly normal. The Animorphs break into the insane asylum (with plenty of amusing jokes along the way about the nuthouse) to speak to the man. He believes Rachel is an Andalite, and tells her of a very odd Yeerk addiction which frees them of Kadrona rays. The price, however, is that the Yeerk slug goes utterly mad from it, losing most of its control on the host body. Unfortunately, these hosts, although halfway in control, go through raving insane periods when the Yeerk takes over, making them look insane. The new secret weapon turns out to be instant ginger maple oatmeal, and the group decides to try and distribute it inside the Yeerk pool (see book #1: The Invasion for their first trip as well as how the series started, and terminology used here.) Mole morphs are used, but things don't go anything near what they'd planned. No spoilers for the end, but this is a good story. It's not one which is critical to the series, but enjoyable to read.

Now for the personal outlooks. This book gives a bit more development on Rachel's character, how she's almost self destructively reckless. However, as this one is from her point of view, we get to watch her plot things out from her own, unique eyes, which you can't get from the other members of the team. This, of course, is part of the charm of the series in general. Rachel is still very gung ho and direct, but she manages to come up with some very sophisticated ideas for rescuing her friends at the end. A good call on Visser Three also helps save the day.

The story itself is enjoyable, but this particular book lacks the "white knuckle" story telling of some of the others until the final battle. It relies more heavily on mood, Rachel's fear of enclosed places as she digs, nightmares, etc. than on direct action. Of course, this helps diversify the series as a whole, and keep it fresh. It also hasn't got a strong humor plot which makes it stand out. It is, simply, fun to read, but nothing which leaps to attention overall. Rachel fans will love it, in particular, obviously. This is also more of a "stalemate" between the Animorphs and the Yeerks, where they don't lose, yet don't win. Overall, that is very realistic, while keeping with the spirit of the Animorph series.

5-0 out of 5 stars Oatmeal???
What's easy to get,lightweight,and healthy?Oatmeal,and it's making the yeerks go crazy.Really.
Well,it all begins when Rachel sees a man about to jump out of a window of a skyscraper. She naturally goes and rescues him,and after that the trouble starts mounting...First Rachel's Mom is the attorney on his case when his family wants him commited when he starts talking about aliens that live in his head, called Yeerks...When the Animorhs investigate they learn the Yeerks have found a way to go without the Kandrona,The is oatmeal, well, only the Instant Maple-Ginger kind.the yeerk gets addicted to it,goes crazy, then it no longer needs kandrona rays. The good part is the Host can comunicate and is in control most of the time, the other time the Yeerk can break through, and it will stay in the host forever.........The Animrophs see an opportunity:Where can you find a ton of yeerks without hosts? The Yeerk Pool......... ...
