Book Description

We can't tell you who we are. Or where we live. It's too risky, and we've got to be careful. Really careful. So we don't trust anyone. Because if they find us...well, we just won't let them find us. The thing you should know is that everyone is in really big trouble. Yeah. Even you. There's a massive outdoor concert coming to town. Offspring. Alanis. Nine Inch Nails. Marco refuses to miss it. He even has a great idea for getting in, uh, free: He and Jake will morph dogs. Marco thinks it's a perfect set up (especially since girls LOVE cute dogs). And even though Jake doesn't agree at first, he finally decides that if Marco goes to the show someone should be around to watch him. Right? ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars The YEERKS are here
This is a great book to start off this great series. The Invasion starts of the animorphs series and is one of the best. Jake, Rachel, Tobias, Cassie and Marco are normal kids heading for home. Then they decide to take a shortcut through the abandoned construction site. Suddenly, a space ship lands right in front of them. Out comes an injured andalite (which is an cross between a human, scorpion and a deer). He explains that the yeerks, a band of paristic aliens have come to Earth. They have turned some people into "controllers" by going inside their heads and enslaving them. The kids have to stop them. The andalite gives them the power to morph, which is the ability to turn into any animal they touch. Then a yeerk ship comes. Out pops Visser Three, the only yeerk able to control an andalite. He morphs into a horrible creature and EATS Elfangor (that's the andalite's name). The kids escape and think over these horrible events. Most of them are reluctant except for Tobias. But then they all fight together. It all ends in a fight on the yeerks' feeding ground. Find out what happens to Tobias who loses the battle in a way you can't imagine.

3-0 out of 5 stars Animorphs: The Invasion
Author: Katherine A. Applegate
Summary: Five kids are walking home from the mall one night when an alien spaceship comes down to them. In the spaceship is an alien called an Andantilite. The Andantilite comes down to the kids and tells them that another group of alien's had already invaded earth, the alien that had already invaded the earth, were small enough that they crawl through the humans ear and start to control them, they are then called human-controllers. He also told them that all throughout the universe there are other species of animals, and aliens that are also being controlled. The Andandtilite then gave the kids power to morph, morph into animals, thus the name Animorphs. These five kids will have save the world from these controllers, by using the power to morph and use the special features that each one of their animals has. They will have to learn to overcome the mind of the animal from overtaking their mind and to learn as much as possible about these controllers
Recommendation: I would recommend this book to kids in 5th or 6th grade, a boy or a girl and/ or kids that enjoy reading SciFI and kids that enjoy books that have a lot of suspense, and action like this book does.

4-0 out of 5 stars Some people never change. Some do...
Jake, Rachel, Cassie, Tobias, and Marco were all just average friends and teens. But all of that changed when they met an Andalite, a strange creature not from Earth. Now, the Andalite has given the teens a power--the power to turn into animals. But the kids must use this power to destroy Yeerks, creatures who take over human's minds and plan to take over the entire human race. The teens, now called Animorphs, soon discover that using their powers to save the world sounds easier than it actually is.

When I first started reading this book, I thought it would be really weird. It didn't seem like the kind of book that I would like. But I was wrong. It was really interesting. Anybody could be hooked on this series, as it has science fiction, humor, horror, a little fantasy, drama, and a wee bit of romance. When you finish this book, it'll start to make you think about trusting the people you love. But don't let that stop you from reading the rest of the books in the series!

5-0 out of 5 stars And so starts 66 reviews....
The Animorphs series is actually just 65 books, but there was one parody made, so i'll include that. Anyway, the Animporh series spans 54 'regular' books, 4 Megamorphs, 1 "meet the cast of animorphs" book, 2 "Alternamorphs" books, 5 'Chronicals" books, and one parody. Each book is told from the perspective of one of six people: Jake, Rachel, Tobias, Marco, Cassie, and Ax. This book focuses on Jake, and is the start of the series. Nearly each book starts the same, "My name is ______. Just ______." Anyway, this book tells about how Jake and the crew (minus Ax, we don't know about him until the 6th book) gained the power to morph from a dying alien. He warned them of an enemy, Yeerks, which are parasitic aliens that crawl in through your ear and controll your brain. The power to morph allows them to become animals. However, they cannot stay in a morph for more than 2 hours or they will be stuck in that morph forever!

5-0 out of 5 stars The Animorphs
Katherine A. Applegate writes a cool story about aliens.
Though short, this book is very good.
For the next 20, maybe 30 books in this series, it stays good. Unfortunately, it goes on until book 52, and it is not very good for those last 22 books.
But once you start it, you want to know what happens in the end.
And because you want to hear more about
Marco, the funny one;
Jake, the leader;
Cassie, the animal lover;
Rachel, the reckless one;
Tobias, the 'bird-boy';
and Axe, the alien who joins them.
Not to mention all the other aliens that are really neat - the Andalite's, the Yerks, the Hork-Bajir, and everything else. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Teletubbies Play Hide-and-Seek
My one year old daughter loves this book! It is a very delightful book. It is fun to lift the flaps on each page. She picks this book most often for me to read to her.

5-0 out of 5 stars Toddlers love this book!
This book is great for small children on several levels. I bought it when my son was a little over a year old; he's now almost two and still loves it. At first he was happy to watch the teletubbies "appear" when I lifted the flaps. Now he can do it himself! He likes to guess who's behind the flap, and can identify other items in each picture. We loaned it to his 20-month-old friend, whose parents were relieved that it entertained him for an entire 3 1/2 hour car trip.

3-0 out of 5 stars Good For Tubbie-Fanatic Toddlers
This pop-up book asks you who's hiding behind different things, with the Teletubbies being behind the first four hiding places. Then comes Noo-noo & finally all the Teletubbies are hidden. While 1 or 2 year olds who like the show will probably get some giggles out of it, the book's art work is lacking. It's pretty stale fare, especially the sky. Couldn't they have put at least one bird, or maybe the sun with the baby's face in it up there? This seems to be a rush-job to capitalize on the popularity of the tv show. Looks like it worked - the copy we have is a 5th edition. There's many other pop-up books out there that are done much better, but if your little kiddies love the Tubbies, I'm sure they'll dig this.

5-0 out of 5 stars Teletubbies Play Hide-and-Seek
My 8-month old daughter LOVES this book! It makes her laugh out loud and she already has figured out how to lift the flaps on her own when we read it! It's a cute little book for babies and toddlers. I don't mind the Teletubbies so much anymore! :-)

4-0 out of 5 stars Teletubbies play hide and seek
I know most parents cringe at the thought of the Teletubbies,me too, but my one year old loves them. In "Teletubbies Play Hide and Seek" little ones are asked to find the Teletubbies under the flaps. After just a couple of readings she understood how to wait until mommy reads the words before she lifts the flap. She also learned the word boo. It's a little word, but it's a start. You might not enjoy the Teletubbies, but it's worth it to watch your child's face light up. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Brings Back Memories
I remember being read this book as a child. It was a fun read. I remember being fascinated by the hunt for the missing egg.

5-0 out of 5 stars Super fun for a speech/motor delayed 3 year old!
My son loves this story. There are cutouts for his finger to explore on every page as he follows the trials and tribulations of a traveling egg...there is a wonderful surprise ending...that is fun to anticipate too. It's an activity book, without any tabs to break! Highly recommended.

5-0 out of 5 stars A barnyard delight!
My boys are 19 months old and this is currently their favorite bedtime book. It has large, simple, colorful pictures. And it is a toddler safe boardbook! Although they are not talking, they have learned to pick out the various animals and other objects such as trees, flowers, sun, etc. It is an easy, flowing book to read aloud, and they love it when I give the animals different voices. The suprise of the soft baby chick at the end usually has them wanting to start on that page. I am actually here tonight looking for similar books by Mr. Scarry!

5-0 out of 5 stars best book ever!
when i was 1 1/2 i loved this book. i learned to talk with this book. this is the greatest book ever. it has adventure, intrigue, love... i said 'hi' when i was 9 months old. i have only 'the egg in the whole' (and my mother) to thank.

5-0 out of 5 stars Maintains interest
The "adventures" of an egg are eagerly followed by the fingers of young children. When they get to the last page, they chortle with the discovery of a newly hatched chick and want to start all over again! I read this repeatedly to my own children and am delighted to be able to continue reading it to my grandchildren. ... Read more

Book Description

Even Willow's own coven has turned against her now. Condemned for saving Buffy from their evil phantom and for not protecting the other coven members fully, as she had promised, Willow must come up with a way to restore herself to them -- and to reinforce her position of power, which hangs in the balance.

But the truth -- that she battled the phantom because the ghost of Tara told her to -- will only lower Willow's status in the eyes of her coven. It is time for big magic. Infallible magic.

And as Willow turns to the elements for protection, Buffy and the rest of the Scoobies must find a way to fight back without losing Willow forever.... ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars not bad
actually this book starts out slow but towards the middle you can't put it down.

willow's coven is reduced in size by giles' spell. the remaining members no longer trust willow because she chose to protect buffy instead of them. willow is so upset by this that she comes up with another plan to rid herself of buffy and the scooby gang.

this book has everyone in it examing themselves and the little things that we tend to take for granted and whether or not their decisions are good or bad no matter how well intentioned. it is well worth the money and any buffy fan should definitely love.

4-0 out of 5 stars Let She Who Is Sinless Cast The First Spell
After the devastating events of the first volume of this series one would expect to find that someone, either in Willow's coven or the Scooby Gang would realize that head on conflict wasn't going to work. Giles' dispersal spell managed to totally disappear to coven members and drive another insane. And Willow has lost what little trust the coven had in her. Despite this disaster, both sides get ready to square off. Willow rebuilds the coven and uses Riley's spirit to animate a golem, hell bent on her quest to restore Tara to life. Giles continues to look for a bigger, better spell - something that will do less mayhem. Of course, nothing works out as suspected and damage and casualties mount.

One of the things I found particularly interesting is that Buffy and the Scoobies actually don't understand what Willow is trying to do, and have managed to cause far more destruction than Willow would have done on her own. This dichotomy between an evil Willow who is really only seeking to create life, and the Buffy team keeps building. This keeps Willow a believable and almost sympathetic character while forcing us to look at Buffy, Giles, and company in a different way. The ending of this volume is particularly touching.

This focus on the moral dilemmas of the characters is unusual in a Buffyverse book. Willow, Buffy and Giles all must deal with difficult decisions, and their actions do not necessarily work for the best. As much as the publisher paints this as a Wicked Willow series, it is considerably more than that. No one is totally innocent, everyone makes a dreadful mistake or two. However, even as the interior dialog gathers momentum, the pacing seems to slow a bit. Shattered Twilight seems to get stuck in the pattern of attack and withdraw that began in The Darkening.

Still, while I experienced moments of tedium in the reading, the over all effect was compelling enough to hold my interest. Yvonne Navarro's effort has redefined Willow's character within an understandable framework. She certainly isn't the only person I know who it the thought they could undo a tragedy wouldn't do everything in their power to do exactly that. At the moment crosses over the line towards the inhuman, she offers proff of her real human depths. While this new, complex Willow will bother some fans, I think it's an illuminating development in one of my favorite characters.

1-0 out of 5 stars As if the first one wasn't bad enough
I'd say more of the same, but this is actually worse than the first "Wicked Willow" book. Cliches on top of bad writing and tired old plots.

If this is the future of "Buffy" then I'll pass.

Ill concieved dreck.

1-0 out of 5 stars 272 pages of garbage
I want my money back. I want the time I wasted back.
But I'd settle for having Tara back.

This book continues the same streak of bland characters and sophmoric writing that was featured in the Wicked Willow 1 book. But if anything things have gotten worse. Right now it is obvious that Navarro is just stretching an already thin plot so she can get three books out of the deal.

I know there is an appeal to watch bad movies. That does not apply here. Save yourself the time and effort. At the least you would have wasted your time and money. At most you will be disgusted that someone like this is allowed to write about these characters. I don't recognize anyone here, least of all Tara. Give me Chris Golden anyday.

It is an offense to these characters. It is an offense to fans of Willow. It is an offense to anyone who ever struggled to be a writter to see third rate fan-fic like this get published.

If you must read a Buffy story, find some fan fic, at least it is free, or get some Chris Golden books.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great book!
I loved this book! I was initially leery of reading a novel set in an Alternate Universe but Navarro does a compelling job of making Willow's pain real and you understand why she went haywire and now is hellbent on destroying her friends.

I highly recommend both this book (...) ... Read more

All Hell is Breaking Loose

Led by the fanatical Il Maestro, the Sons of Entropy are assaulting the supernatural Boston mansion that holds back the realm of monsters, and stealing the life force from the besieged Gatekeeper. In limbo, the Ghost Roads are crumbling, becoming weak and unstable where Hell and the Otherworld have begun seeping in, blurring the passages that lead to the human world. And Xander lies mortally wounded from a failed attempt to free Joyce Summers from the clutches of the zealots who hold her hostage.

With the Gatekeeper rapidly weakening, Buffy sends Willow and Cordelia to escort Xander along the Ghost Roads to the Gatehouse, which may hold his only hope of survival. Meanwhile, she, Giles, and an unlikely band of allies take their fight to the very mouth of Hell itself, desperately hoping to save Joyce and repel the evil spawn before Sunnydale becomes a demonic ground zero. Only then can Buffy safeguard the Gatekeeper's eleven-year-old heir, the only one able to prevent the ultimate destruction of humanity. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars GREAT!!!! BEST TRILOGY!!
This was the best books I've read in such along time!! I'm glad that the rest of the Scooby Gang got noticed more in this book! Most of the show's ep's & Books are about Buffy. But they focused this one more on Xander,Cordelia,Willow,Oz, & Angel!! So that was more of a twist! I really liked these 3 books, and everyone who is a fan should read!!

5-0 out of 5 stars THE BEST BUFFY BOOKS YET!!!
Oh, my gosh! The Gatekeeper Trilogy is the most entertaining series of books of all the Buffy books!!! I love the way the authors included all the characters instead of just focusing on Buffy all the time. I thought it was cool how, in the last book they brought Belphegor, Il Maestro, and The Sons Of Entropy together at the end and finished them off. It was just totally entertaining. I loved how they had Xander become the Gatekeeper, I never expected that, I really thought he was gonna die! This trilogy is definetely a MUST for all Buffy fans!!! It will keep you on the edge of your seat from beginning 'til end!!!!

5-0 out of 5 stars A great Buffy the Vampire Slayer trilogy
You know how many times you get suckered into buying a bunch of paperbacks because it is some giant continued story? Well, trust me, this one is well worth the investment in time and cash. Golden and Holder are far and away the best writers working on Buffy books and in this entire series they get free reign with the characters and their imagination. There is also a respect for Buffy and her friends you do not always get in such books. Let me put it another way: you know how good this series is? I went out and got a hardback edition because this is a keeper (even if you do not have a gate).

5-0 out of 5 stars The concluding book in an epic Buffy trilogy
The Gatekeeper Trilogy is far and away the best of the Buffy books. Christopher Golden and Nancy Holder are far and away the best writers working on the books. Since they are also the main authors of the Watcher Guides they certainly have the requisite knowledge of the characters and the Buffy mythos. In retrospect I ended up feeling about these three books pretty much the way I did about the original Star Wars trilogy where the second one is the best and the finale has a bit of trouble living up to your expectations because what has gone before has been so great. However, put them together and they simply set the bar higher for everyone who comes in their wake.

Ironically, in this particular book Buffy has less to do that most of the other characters. It was certainly nice to see that Xander have a bright shinning moment as the substitute Gatekeeper. His character has been the comic relief for the Scooby Gang for so long that you forget he brought Buffy back from the dead at the end of season one. They also do a nice job of getting to what Cordelia is thinking behind her tactless remarks, but Oz is back to quipping a bit too much as he was in Book One and Willow is much more of a successful little spellcaster than she has yet to be in the television episodes. Still, I feel they are on the right track with most of these character developments. However, the character who really shines in this volume is Joyce Summers, dealing with being the mother of the Slayer as best she can.

After including Spike and Drusilla in the previous volume as a minor plot complication (I really was expecting more from them), the authors have Ethan Rayne makes a much more substantive guest appearance in this concluding volume, although he is really just a plot contrivance. The truly tragic figure that emerges from this trilogy is Jacques Regnier, the young boy who has to become the Gatekeeper following the death of his father. His fate is different from that of Buffy as the Slayer, but he is also a Chosen One and there is a certain pathos to his having too grow up too quickly. The creation of the Gatekeeper and the Gatehouse are the best ideas I have come across in the Buffy books so far, and are worthy of being included in the mythos of the television series. I was surprised to see that the historical flashbacks on the story of Giacomo Fulcanelli, Il Maestro, were substantially less than in the previous volumes, although his back story is concluded.

The resolution to the Gatekeeper storyline in "Sons of Entropy" works pretty well, more so with the Gatekeeper's part of the battle than with Buff's final confrontation with the demon Belphegor. I have never really liked the idea that the Achilles heel of the bad guys is that they all lie to their stupid minions who tend to betray them at the right moment. I would much rather see the good guys rise to the occasion and do so without the old chestnut of figuring out the meaning of the key clue at the last moment. The idea of the Gatekeeper and the Gatehouse merging in a new way was a very credible solution. Again, I know that my expectations were so high that Joss Whedon himself would have problems coming up with a conclusion that would truly top the marvelous set up. If you have read and enjoyed any of the original Buffy novels, you have to treat yourself to the Gatekeeper Trilogy.

5-0 out of 5 stars A Fantastic Final Chapter
The Sons of Entropy is the third and final installment in the Gatekeeper Trilogy. Xander is near death. Joyce is kidnapped. Divided the team struggles to save their friends and family, while saving the world from a hellish outbreak of all things evil. The action is non-stop. The peril is real. The danger is heart stopping. As always in the midst of this whirlwind Mr.Golden and Ms. Holder take time to give the reader wonderful moments. For example the gatekeeper granting Angel a magic dream of Buffy so real he can smell her lavender and vanilla fragrance or Joyce proving that she is worthy to be a slayer's mother. I have given copies of the Trilogy to several of my friends and they all love it as I do. I highly recommend this series. It is excellent horror fiction. Please do yourself a favor. Read this book. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars A Good Book About Respect
I like the story about how Emmie and Zak learn to respect their sibling's stuff even if it looks like junk to them. The story was just a bit long, and the girls preferred the video, but it was still a very good story. In the true form of the awesome Dragon Tales stories, everyone works together to help find a solution to the problem. I love these books, and I am glad that I bought them!

3-0 out of 5 stars garbage story
OK, dealing with garbage is real life, but do we have to read our children stories about digging through a dump? My daughter loves Zak and Wheezie, but I think the story could have been much more fun. I wish they had used another episode to base this book on. The message about recycling is good, though. If you missed this episode, I just wanted to explain that this book is not just about cleaning up the child's room, it includes the whole process of garbage from house to dump to recycling. Informative, yes, but fun, well, I don't think so.

4-0 out of 5 stars Zak and Wheezie are great!
My three year old, being an avid Dragon Tales fan, loves this book. Not only does it please her for its connection to her favorite television show, it pleases me because she learns about compassion and how different people can have different feelings about the same things. I love all the animorphs books. But this book has to be one of my favorites. The author (K.A.Applegate) really knows how to tell stories about what kids go through. A lot of books you read has stuff about kids ackting really nice and saying yes sir and no sir. But in Animorphs K.A. writes about how kids really act.Now about Megamorphs one.I think this story is for kids who like people who are funny(Marco) brave(Racheal) leaders(Jake)and downright strange(Ax)and who cares about animals and really loves animals(Cassie) So I recomend this book because you can't put it down every page your thinking and what happens next. But don't stop here read all of the Animorphs series.

5-0 out of 5 stars A GREAT BOOK!
This book is like six Animorphs books rolled into one, 'cos it's from the viewpoint of all of them.

The main plot is that Visser Three's discovered something - a Veleek from Saturn. It homes in on morph energy and captures whoever is morphing. So, the Animorphs are safe if they don't morph - but morphing is their only weapon . . .

There are also sub-plots for each character:

CASSIE tries to get over being a "coward" when she lets the Veleek take Marco. RACHEL has to deal with losing her memory. AX has to deal with his shame over not killing Visser Three. JAKE tries to keep up-to-date and look after all of the Animorphs at once. TOBIAS has to control his anger at having slept through most of the story. MARCO has to try and take things seriously (for once).

This book is very good, although sometimes it's confusing reading one chapter about what happened to Ax, and then reading the next chapter about Marco that starts halfway through Ax's chapter, followed by Rachel's chapter that starts before either Marco or Ax's chapter . . . see what I mean? Pretty good read.

4-0 out of 5 stars This book is an extremely awsome book
Young science fiction lovers will run to the bookshelves to get a copy of Animorphs: the Andalite's Gift by K.A. Applegate. The setting you will encounter in this book is mostly the forest. Every book has exiting characters but not as exiting as the characters in this book. They are Jake, Cassie, Rachel, Tobias, Ax, Marco, and Visser Three. There is major conflict in this book. It is between the Animorphs and Visser Three's Yeerks, which are slugs that can control your brain.
This book is a MUST READ book because when I read it I was addicted to it. It is extremely interesting. The book puts pictures in your head. It also makes you think it's real. If you watched the TV show and still didn't understand it the book will help. If you still don't know if you're going to read it you should read the back and take my word for it!
The author of this book seems very creative. The author is female and writes kids' books. One interesting fact is that you don't know if one book leads to another one. You should really check out this book and check out some other Animorphs books.

5-0 out of 5 stars Reader over 25
As always, I'm here with another viewpoint if someone like parents, teachers, etc. might be curious about an adult's point of view on the series. Megamorphs is the first of the series which steers away from the threads of something a little deeper which have been in all the other books to date (growing up, friendship, family, etc.) However, I still give this book the highest possible rating for other reasons. It's the longest one of the series up to this point, and Applegate kept her story together with a smooth, exciting flow which keeps the reader guessing. I was in my early twenties, and have read everything from Tolstoy and Dickens to Peanuts and Garfield. I figured it out, eventually, on the first read, but I wasn't all that far ahead of Ax when it was revealed by the plot itself. Rachel has to deal with a memory loss, Cassie with thinking she's a coward, Jake with keeping them together, and all of them with this dust beast which seems intent on destroying or capturing them. Marco's wit, as always gives a great laugh. The plot is creative, well thought out, and not too far out in left field (even for its target age group) for a sci-fi book to make it totally unbelievable. All in all, this is a very good read for a high action, mysterious, entertaining, and cohesive story for the target age. It can certainly be enjoyable for ages many years beyond 12, as well.

5-0 out of 5 stars An adventurous and very funny book
Megamorphs are always fun to read. Visser Three tries to capture the "Andalite Bandits"(Animorphs)by using a creature from Saturn that gets attracted to morphing power. This disastrous thing causes the seperation of the Animorphs in different places. They try to get back together, but Rachel loses her memory and Ax gets captured. The other Animorphs don't know where these two are. The final show down with the monster is exciting. Marco's jokes are all very funny in this book. It is definitely a must read!!!! ... Read more

Bold, block-color paintings of Maisy the mouse and friends make up this very simple, very appealing alphabet book. Maisy is a happy little rodent with a cheeky smile who journeys (in many changes of clothing) through a landscape of other animals. On the first page, she is traveling by "Bb--boat"; she sees a patch of seaweed, which opens like a door to display a hidden "Cc--crab"; her yellow sail folds back to reveal that she is riding with a stowaway "Aa--alligator"; and a pull-tab sends a purple "Dd--dolphin" leaping from the blue water. Elsewhere, insects flap their wings, a kite flutters, Maisy's prominent orange whiskers twitch, and a tortoise and a squirrel strum at a ukulele and a violin while Maisy herself plays the xylophone. This clever, effective use of pop-ups and pull-tabs make this ABC book--and perhaps the ABCs themselves--memorable. (Baby to 4) --Richard Farr ... Read more

My two-year-old son reads this book bevery night before goes to bed. He enjoys to pull the tabs and tell what maisy and her friemds are doing. The pictures in each page are related. My son not only learns the ABC and can also makes stories with those pictures in each page. This book stimulates small child's imagination. It is a book worth to buy.

This book was the first to catch my baby's attention. At as early as 9 months, he was selecting this book every night. He loves to pull the various flaps and moving parts himself. I've purchased other Maisy books since then, and while my son enjoys them very much, the ABC book is still his favorite. I'm buying a second copy now to replace the first one he loved to pieces. ... 4-0 out of 5 stars Maisy's Day at the Farm
If you are the parent of a young child, you probably know who Maisy is. She's a mouse with a duck, a squirrel, an elephant, and a crocodile for friends. Why the crocodile isn't trying to eat the others is beyond me, but that's life in Maisy's world.

Both of my daughters love the Maisy books; there's something about their simple stories and colorful pictures that even appeals to adults. The books are short and easy to read. But, the stories are never obnoxiously simplistic, like so many other books for small children.

Maisy's on the farm and someone has to feed all of the animals. Will Maisy be able to take care of all of her chorse and have breakfast? Will little black cat enjoy a bowl of milk? And just where did Maisy get that tractor? A fun book for small children (and even a few older ones).

5-0 out of 5 stars My 10 month old loves this
We have many Maisy books at our house, but this one is especially cute! Maisy works on the farm milking cows, feeding chickens, etc. The pictures are adorable and my 10 month old likes us to make the farm animal sounds as we read it to him.

I highly recommend it!

3-0 out of 5 stars Animorphs #37: The Weakness
When I read The Weakness, I was in a good mood and happened to have liked the action and recklessness portrayed by Rachel in the book. Morphing cheetahs was very well described ; this was the falsgship of the book. But it still could have been worse. And while we see that Rachel is pure anger and recklessness, we see that from time to time one of the Animorph characters breaks through. It is not one of the best of the series, and it is not well written either. But at certain points of the

book you feel the beauty of what it's like to be a cheetah, roaming through savannah and running beside the enemy to catch him. However this part is in the beginning, making the main plot go to waste in the second and third chapter. But while it's there it's still vivid in your mind. I was looking forward to this book and was a little disappointed in Animorphs #37 ; but it could have been worse, and it is still worth buying. The cover itself is a masterpiece. So if you want action, I recommend this book, but if you want suspense, read the next few books. Books like #38 The Arrival and #39 The Hidden really had you going to find out what happens ; a book like #37 The Weakness isn't like that, but the book itself is meaningful in one lesson : the value of trust. In order to be a team you need to be able to trust your teammates, and while Rachel made several mistakes taking Jake's place as leader, she learned what trust was and that being the leader isn't just guts and glory. It's about making decisions that mean the difference between life...and death.

4-0 out of 5 stars Applegate's work is getting too predictable....
Of course her fans are going to know that Applegate is slumping in her latest books, and it seems like she likes it. #37 wasn't the best, but I do commend it on what it's finally done. It's finally answered the question to who should be able to lead the team if the leader is out. Everyone thinks it should be Rachel, seeing how she is Jake's cousin and is super-spontaneous. But she has no leadership skills, and because of that the readers are forced to listen to the constant nagging between her and Marco, which in here is not as funny as before.

But that is the only reason why I didn't give it the highest score. The Weakness introduces a fast new host species for the Yeerks, and the Animorphs go on a little terrorist trip with a lot of jokes mixed in. Although the ending is the worst part of the book, the rest of it is okay and Applegate's fans are able to take it in without rejecting it like several of its previous predecesors can do.

5-0 out of 5 stars Cool!
This book was really action packed! I loved it!

1-0 out of 5 stars The break
This was a very bad book and I was surprised when I read it.K.A. Applegate is a very good writer, but I guess she took a break from good books and tried a new kind.

2-0 out of 5 stars 'The Weakness' in the Animorphs series
Unlike most people who have reviewed this book, I don't think Animorphs is getting worse. But this book was definetly bad. It was just the same old thing over and over again, action, action who cares? It did have a few good parts though. The ending was good and a big improvement on the rest of the book. It also showed you what happens when Rachel gets out of control, but didn't we already see that in #32? One thing I did like about this book was the cover. ... Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars It's cute
I've started reading Arthur's books to my sons and they love the colorful pictures in the book. The storyline is cute ~~ nothing spectular or exciting. Arthur invites everyone to his birthday party only to find out one of his friends, Muffy, has her birthday party the same day. Arthur decided to surprise Muffy by hosting the party at his house and all ends well.

It's a cute story though I am not quite sure about "Spin the Bottle" gift at the end. That may be a little too old for 8 year olds. But it's not offensive or anything ~~ it's just a cute story about birthday parties.

4-0 out of 5 stars Suprise Birthday
I really like the book Arthur's Birthday because I liked when Arthur figured out what to do when Muffy and his birthday are on the same day. He was kind and knew what he was doing.

5-0 out of 5 stars A nice, soft toy and colorful book.
This is the same story as on the TV series, wherein Arthur's birthday is on the same day as Muffy's and both want to have their parties at the same time. The fact that it's the same as on the TV show can work to your advantage in that kids know the story, whether you read it aloud or they read it to you. It gives them confidence in knowing some of what's going to happen. The colorful illustrations are fun to follow along with. The Arthur doll is soft and huggable with "glasses" that are sewn onto the washable body. The doll makes a nice prop if you're reading out loud to a small group.

3-0 out of 5 stars Great For a Birthday Reading Lesson
I am a student teacher and think this book can be used as part of a K-2nd grade reading lesson. Children can relate to the topic and make predictions throughout the story. The colorful illustrations will keep children attentive. Arthur is having a birthday party and a conflict arises between him and Muffy. Arthur comes up with a great solution to the problem. The only part of the story that I thought was inappropriate for children was the gift that Francine bought for Arthur and wanted to play with right away at the end.

1-0 out of 5 stars Inappropriate content for age
My daugther loves Arthur and Birthdays, so I bought the book. We were reading along and came to the end where Francine gives Arthurs his gift and asks that he "use it right away". On the last page you see the opened gift -- a bottle with "Francine's Spin the Bottle Game" written on it. I thought this completely inappropriate for the age of reader. So,unless you're not bothered by the sexual reference in your child's reading materials, buy it. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Not just for kids
I got this "Arthur" CD for my (90 year-old) mother because she loves Clay Aiken -- but she and several of the other residents of the nursing home adore the whole thing and feel more in touch with grandchildren or greatgrandchildren. The variety of voices is terrific, and it's very well produced.

5-0 out of 5 stars What's really cool about this audiobook...
This is a great product because I can really enjoy listening to these stories while playing them for my son. He definitely loves it, but he's too young to know who Kelly Ripa or Clay Aiken or Tom Arnold really is. It's just so interesting and entertaining for me as a parent to listen to each celeb's unique reading style and performance. I found it comparable to watching 'Finding Nemo' and knowing Ellen Degeneres was the voice of Dorie or listening to 'Mike Myers' voice as Shrek. It just adds something special you don't find in other audio products, especially those meant for kids.

The interactive Arthur games, music and activities are just a delightful bonus. Anything to promote learning is a plus in my book. Definitely a warm fuzzy feeling too knowing some of this goes to support charity. A great product all around and thanks for making it!

5-0 out of 5 stars Can't Put It Down!!!
I just got my copy yesterday and the kids and I can't put it down! The readings were really well done and amusing... we enjoyed Clay Aiken and Kelly Ripa's stories the most. Cheri Oteri's is by far the funniest. My kids really loved the bonus features as well such as the interactive games, Arthur song and Arthur pictures.

As a Mom, it's nice to know that I can give my kids a fun and educational product and that it's all for a good cause! Highly recommended.

5-0 out of 5 stars I love it!
My kids and I love listening to this audiobook. Each author had a different take on the story they were reading and my kids seemed to respond to all of them, especially Kevin Bacon!

The Arthur series is always enjoyable and with the proceeds going to charity, you can't go wrong with this purchase. I recommend it highly! ... Read more

2-0 out of 5 stars Arthur's Tooth
Arthur's Tooth by Marc Brown is a book that any kid that's about to loose a tooth would enjoy. In this story Arthur is the last to loose a tooth. He feels behind and awkward for it. Everyone tries to help him loose it, but nothing ever succeeds. Finally, Francine, the bully of the group, that hassles Arthur for not loosing a tooth yet, jabs Arthur in the mouth, and knocks his tooth right out!

Arthur was my favorite character in this story. Arthur felt embarrassed that he had never lost a tooth before, and while everyone else was loosing their baby teeth, his was just getting loose. Poor, innocent Arthur. But at the end he shows them that he's no different. Read the book to find out the details!

5-0 out of 5 stars Losing A Tooth
Another great book from the Arthur series. The book is about Arthur, the last student in the class to lose his first baby tooth. Some of the other students in the class make fun of Arthur, because he still has all his baby teeth. Other students try to help Arthur's tooth fall out, but nothing works. Finally an accident causes Arthur to lose his tooth. This book teaches children to be patient and to help their friends. It also teaches them that everyone is different. I really like this book.

5-0 out of 5 stars We LOVE the Arthur books!
We are first grade students at the Anna Merritt Elementary School. Our teacher did a Marc Brown author study. She read Arthur's Tooth to us and we loved the book. Javeon and Cory liked the part when Arthur wanted to pull out his tooth with his hand. Nicholas and Jacob liked the part when Arthur lost his tooth. Marissa liked the part when Francine knocked Arthur's tooth out. We hope Marc Brown writes a lot more Arthur stories! ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars One of my favorites
This Franklin book is one of my favorites! All the Franklin books are great! This book teaches kids not to be afraid of the dark! Lots of reading for smaller children, but great pictures!

5-0 out of 5 stars I think every kid was scared of the dark...
This is a book reminds me of all the things i was scared of when I was little, and how i overcame them with the help of my mom. I think that everyone has had their fears when they were little, and many still do. It's a cute book.

5-0 out of 5 stars I'm scared
Franklin is afraid of sleeping in his shell at night. This is every kid's problem being afraid of the dark. So Franklin goes on a trip looking for help, but finds out everybody is afraid of something. It lets the kids know it's ok to be afraid, but also tries to help him overcome being afraid too. The perfect book for a preschooler.

5-0 out of 5 stars My first experience with Franklin - and I'm hooked.
I enjoyed this book myself (a 40-yr-old with no children), and had my 7-yr-old nephew read it to me when he visited. He found it easy enough to read and understand at the same time, but with just enough challenge. Franklin is a delightful turtle who faces everyday things, like being afraid of small, dark places. As he looks for help, he discovers that other friends have fears of everyday things as well. Very sensitively written, humor appropriate for 4- to 8-year-olds. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Cassie's Big Departure
Well from the frist day, things were strange. But, for Cassie, the longer she was an Animorph, the more things started bugging her. Her grades got lower she was constantly lying to her parents and she was killing not only the enemy but the enemy's helpless slaves. Things didn't sit well with her. The only thing to do now was quit. But on her first day of not being an Animorph she still had problems, the enemy found her and they were now stuck in the woods. The only way for Cassie to save her friends now was to stay in woods for three day with the enemy or kill the enemy. The Departure was the best Cassie book I ever read. I don't even like Cassie. This was due to the fact that the real action began early in the book. Normaly books like that are real boring in the end, but KA kept the consistancy of the excitment and suspence the same level through out the whole book. It was more than just the suspence and excitment that kept me reading, it wa! ! s the setting I could see the woods all so clear and I could see the rivers and the fire and most of all the wildlife start to grow swiftly through my walls. I truly enjoyed the way that KA use the book HATCHET not only in mear text but in the story its self. She compared it to this story to make the more alike. This story also has a flaw. One controler uses the thought-speech brackets as his voice. Other than that this book is a marvel. I love the discriptive writing KA has been noted for, but moreover, the continuous action and suspence. I would suggest this for you to read under any circumstance as long as you also read HATCHET.

5-0 out of 5 stars New Animorph & book 19
First of all, the Controller Cassie gets lost with is a girl. And the new Animorph is HUMAN, A MALE, AND EVIL. K.A. Applegate said this herself. Secondly, I doubt Cassie will quit for good, but I can't wait to see what she does to the Controller. Hey, maybe she'll just keep locked up somewhere for 3 days or until the Yeerk in her head dies...wait that wouldn't work because she'll remember Cassie's secret and if she's captured by the Yeerks again the Yeerk in her brain will know about the Animorphs. Sadly, the only way I see to keep the Animorphs' secret is to kill the Karen, the Controller. Anyway, this book sounds really good. When I get it, I'll make sure to post a review here.

5-0 out of 5 stars The Departure
Cassie is tired of the missions. She's tired of the secrecy. She's tired of being an Animorph. So she quits. But the fight is far from over. A human-controller has discovered Cassie's secret.

5-0 out of 5 stars Reader Over 25
Synapsis: Cassie decides she's had enough of the war with the Yeerks and with the Animorphs, so she quits the team. She's lost the capacity to feel anything, love, hate, even fear, as it blurs into a kind of emotionless nothing within her. Unable to cope with the lies to her parents, the stress, and the inhumanities of war, she tries to leave it all behind. To make matters worse, her parents are going to lose the animal rehabilitation center which they run. Yet, even that, she finds herself unable to care about as much about it as she knows she should. Unfortunately (or fortunately for the fans of the series), things don't go anything near what Cassie plans, and she finds she has someone watching her. The watcher is revealed to be a little girl, who Cassie rescues from a bear, then finds herself swept into a river, washed into the heart of a forest. Without any idea of which way to go, against the elements, and the very real threats of dying of exposure, Cassie would normally morph and fly to civilization. To complicate things, however, the little girl is with her. It's easily discovered the child is a Controller, and the Yeerk inside her mind wants to learn everything about Cassie. Throughout revealing herself to the Yeerk, yet survive, Cassie is forced into some tough problems which have nothing to do with battle. There's also an added problem in an escaped leopard who is determined to make an easy meal out of the wounded Controller or Cassie.

This is one of the more thought provoking books of the series, and isn't focused on the battles as others have been in the series. We get a look at the Yeerk race as never before, that not all of them are the evil, cowardly creatures like Visser Three. Although not precisely nice beings, it presents concepts such as a parasites view on its right to live, expand, and experience the world of sight and colors as opposed to blindness. This is the first book of the series which introduces the idea of the Yeerk resistance members.

As for my personal opinions of the book, I'd have to say that in thinking about the entire series, this is probably my favorite book. I don't have a favorite character, because each one is great in his or her own way. There's enjoyment for me reading about each one for many different reasons. Cassie, however, has always been more or less the keeper of the morals of the group. She's always had a feeling for people's feelings, and been relied upon to help judge the right from the wrong. For her to suddenly lose her ability to care is like the character losing her own soul. From the other reviews I've seen by fans, I don't get the impression Cassie is as popular as Rachel and Tobias, but I see her as very much a critical part of the team. Without Cassie to help counterbalance Rachel, even "Xena, Warrior Princess" could easily go running headlong into decisions she'd regret later. Rachel is the group's courage, directness, and shares a bit of ruthlessness with Marco (all critical elements.) Cassie, however, helps keep the scales balanced, and never has such an in depth look been given to her character as this story. We see her make a tremendous sacrifice, and all of it, in her mind, to do nothing but make a small amount of peace between one Yeerk, one human/Animorph, and free a solitary little girl from being a Controller. In finding that one, small, fragment of peace, she's also able to make peace with herself and find where she belongs in the war. There are no easy, pat answers for her. She does, however, find a place for someone who regaurs all life as sacred -- yet is in the middle of a war to save the human race.

We also see what life is like for some of the Yeerks, some of which are equally tired of the war. Like any war, there's more than one side, and much like a common German soldier in comparison to Hitler in WWII, there's no utter black or white when you look at the big picture. This gives the series even more depth and realism overall.

The imagry of the forest is very well done in this story, as well. In the earlier Megamorphs: Time of the Dinosaurs, we were shown a world which was nearly impossible to survive in. However, that was largely due to the fact the humans went from the height of the food chain to the very bottom. In this novel, its a very mundane and normal forest which provides most of the opposition against the little girl with the twisted ankle who Cassie is trying to get back to civilization for the sake of the host ... or perhaps the Yeerk and the host... or even more possibly for herself. Cassie knows the best thing to do would be to kill the Yeerk with Kadrona starvation, or even kill host and Yeerk together. In her heart, however, she knows the "best" thing is not the right thing. This prompts long nights trapped in the wilderness which Applegate brings to life in a very vivid way for such a short work.

I found the book itself was also the typical fast paced read, although it didn't focus on fights, battles, or humor. The author moved her plot along well with a sprinkling of action here and there, keeping me interested with facts about the Yeerks or other tension which didn't have to do with physical confrontation. Highly recommended.

5-0 out of 5 stars The best Animorph book ever!
This book realy made me think .I thought yeerks where mainly evil with a few good ones.sadly,I read #29 first so I had no idea who they where talking abount. When I saw it here and saw all those reveiws I was dying to read it.When I fanily did I thought Marco was nuts.He said in #20 that he did not realy trust her. That he probibly changed his mind when Cassie saved his butt in #21.Cassie is sensitive and that is why people don't like her but If the world was full of Rachles I would be scared to death because I HATE shopping. .... ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Weather Games
This book is excellent! I have a 20 month old who loves Blue's Clues and we have recently discovered this book series. As any fan of this show would expect, this book offers plenty of opportunities to interact with your child as they discover the effects of different types of weather in Blue's backyard. My child's language development has been enhanced by naming and pointing to the items in the brilliantly colored pictures. This book immediately captured my child's attention and even though we read it every day she still gets excited when I pull it out for her! As a Child Development Specialist by day and a Mommy by night, I can't say enough good things about this board book and the others offered in this series! ... Read more
