"Now I'll tell you a secret that no one knows except me: I have atwin sister." If this sounds like an imaginary friend story, it is! ButMost Beloved Sister, written in 1949 by Pippi creator Astrid Lindgren andillustrated in the 1970s by Hans Arnold, is as enchanting an imaginary-friendstory as they come. Arnold's gorgeous, color-drenched, child-friendlyillustrations depict a lush, whimsical world, crawling with horn-snouted,bug-eyed creatures, hidden palaces, and benign dwarves. Barbara and her twinsister, Lalla-Lee, have many splendid adventures, speak a special language (therosebush where Lalla-Lee lives is called Salikon), frolic in the Golden Hall, ride through the Great Horrible Forest... But what happens to Lalla-Lee when anew poodle puppy comes to live with Barbara's family? This original picture-bookclassic is a longish read-aloud, but the lively story of the lonely girl and herglorious flights of fancy is sure to captivate young readers. Highlyrecommended! 3-0 out of 5 stars A Secret Twin.....
Meet seven year old Barbara. She has a secret no one knows, not even Mama or Papa. She has a twin sister, Lalla-Lee, who lives in an enchanted world beneath the rosebush in a corner of the garden. Lalla-Lee is queen and lives in the Golden Hall. "Papa likes Mama best, and Mama likes my little brother, who was born in the spring, best. But Lalla-Lee just likes me." Lalla-Lee never calls Barbara by her given name. She always calls her "Most Beloved Sister." The sisters have a special language all their own, and enjoy marvelous adventures. They ride their horses, Goldfoot and Silverfoot, through the Great Horrible Forest where the Frights live. They visit The Kind Ones who bring them cookies and caramels, and ride to The Most Beautiful Valley in the World where the flowers sing and the stream hums. But on this visit Lalla-Lee tells Barbara it's almost time for her to die, a secret Barbara doesn't want to hear. "Right then, I felt a pain in my heart....." Astrid Lindgren, author of the Pippi Longstocking series, wrote this stand alone story about imaginary friendship over fifty years ago, but it wasn't published in the States until now. Her wordy text doesn't sparkle or engage the reader and feels somewhat dated, and little ones may find the storyline as a whole, confusing, and the subject of a beloved sister's death, upsetting. Hans Arnold's captivating illustrations are magical and rich in detail, and though youngsters will enjoy the artwork, the book really doesn't work for its chosen audience of 4-8 year olds.

5-0 out of 5 stars Makes for excellent family bedtime reading
Charmingly written by Astrid Lindgren and beautifully illustrated by Hans Arnold, Most Beloved Sister is a delightful picturebook children's story, with stylized, gentle color illustrations about a young girl and her secret twin sister, who embark on a wondrous magical adventure. Warmly translated into English by Elisabeth Kallick Dyssegaard, Most Beloved Sister makes for excellent family bedtime reading and is an enthusiastically recommended addition to school and community library collections as well. ... Book Description

“Ever since we’ve had this doll,” Elizabeth said hesitantly, “we’ve had funny things happen the same dreams and knowing things and stuff like that.”

Twins Jane and Elizabeth are twelve years old and have outgrown dolls. Nevertheless, on a cold wet spring Saturday they find themselves in an antique store, inexplicably drawn to a small, tattered old fashioned doll. Even the owner of the store seems to understand that the doll somehow belongs to the girls.

Once the twins buy the doll, stranger and stranger things begin to happen, and a young girl from the past seems to be calling out to them. The search to discover the history of the little doll brings the twins terrifyingly close to the world of the supernatural as they finally solve a tantalizing mystery.

Janet Lunn’s first novel, long unavailable, is republished in a fresh, beautiful edition.

Grant dumped Mary-Kate for her best friend Campbell, and Ross dumped Ashley for Dana, the most popular stuck-up girl in first form. Could things get any worse? Yes!

The book I read was switching goals. In the book Sam had a new guy Richie on her team. Richie practically only talked to Sam. Sam thought for a minute that he was a nice guy. I think people 8 and above should read this book. It's getting interesting. I wonder what happens next. I think her dad was on Emma's team.

4-0 out of 5 stars Cool-read this
Ashley and Mary-Kate aren't too keen on having a babysitter, but when they meet Carrie, they realize it would be great if she had the job. It's just a matter of convincing their dad,who thinks that modern-girl Carrie will not be a good influence. This is very readable, and I've just bought 2 more books in the series.

5-0 out of 5 stars Mary-kate and Ashely
Mary-kate is a tomboy who loves softball & basketball and she is very messy and wears jeins while Ashely is a cool girl with lots of pretty dresss and she loves shoping and has a crush on a boy at school. There Dad puts a ad up for a babysitter and both girls hate it becase there babysitter is a old lady intill Carrie a cool girl shows up and replaces her. Carrie takes Ashely shoping and Mary-kate to baseball games. One day Carrie helps the girls by saying to trade places at a softball game becase Ashely is no good at softball , so Ashely plays as mary-kate and does a bad job while Mary-kate swings as Ashely and wins the game. There Dad is not too pleased but he was nice about too, So Tomboy and Ashely are very cool twins!

1-0 out of 5 stars Rating this Series overall
First of all this series sucks. I admit there are funny creative ideas but basically everything is about boyfriends, crushes, the in-crowd: your basic no-good literature. I can't believe anyone would rate these books 5 to 4 stars. I didn't learn anything from these books. It's nonsense. You can find so many other books that really have a point to them, a book you cant get out of and when you finish you're amazed. For instance: "Anna Sunday", "Walk Two Moons","Dragon's Gate", so on!....Its a waste of money to buy these.

3-0 out of 5 stars It's a Twin Thing
It's a Twin Thing is a good book. Mary-Kate and Ashley Burke think they're way too old for a baby-sitter. But when they meet Carrie, one of their dad's students, they both think she's perfect for the job. She can play softball with Mary-Kate and go shopping with Ashley. The problem is their dad thinks that she's a little too 'loose'. Their are three main topics.

5-0 out of 5 stars THIS A 12 year old reader
TWO 11 year old twins , Mary-kate and Ashely , are starting 7th graded . Ashely cant wait she loves boys , hair, and clothes . Mary -kate perfers softball and sports but both girls think they are too old for a babysitter when there dad puts a ad up for one to stay with the girls when he works late. Then carrie shows up the girls think shes cool and wants her to stay but there dad is not to sure . But carries cool and fun ways make the girls want her even more . Does carrie stay? 5-0 out of 5 stars The Scoop on Dish
All of the books in the Dish series are AWESOME! They are about best friends forming a cooking club. The three original best friends, the twins Molly and Amanda and their friend Shawn take cooking classes in Park Terrace. They find out that a girl in their school and grade who they don't know really well, Peichi is also taking classes. Then, there is Natasha Ross, who spread a mean rumor abot the twins and Shawn, is taking cooking classes too. The twins Peichi, Shawn AND Natasha all become best friends. Then a boy named Justin McElroy, who Amanda thinks is pretty cute moves to the neighborhood. Their family has an electrical fire in their kitchen and to help them, the Chef Girls cook a week's worth of dinners for them because they have to stay in an apartment. After this job they come up with a great idea to form a cooking business. Will their business take off like a rocket??

this is such an awesome series...easy to read, but fun, too! Has some cool recipes, chicken piccata is the BEST!

5-0 out of 5 stars DISH RULES
Dish are great books! I have read 1-9 so far! It is about 5 girls, Molly & Amanda Morre (twins), Shawn Jordan, Pechi Chang, and Natasha Ross who have there own cooking business. It also goes though the girls feeling like, crushes, familys, and most of allschool! It is really great because I am the same age as them, so I can really relate to how they feel. Diane Muldrow is a great Author! Go buy them I read 9! Hope you enjoy them!

5-0 out of 5 stars Fabulous series of books!
All the books in this series are awesome. These stories talk about how a set of girls handle the ups and downs of starting their own cooking business, but ultimately the stories are about friendships. These books are fun to read and are uplifting. An added plus are the recipe cards included at the end of each book, which are delicious to make. You'll really enjoy them. The stories are well-written and when you start reading, you just want to sit until you read the whole thing. Buy them for yourself, your friends, daughters, granddaughters, sisters, or nieces!

5-0 out of 5 stars Mmm...food and friendship
This was a really great book about twin girls named Amanda and Molly Moore. They decided to surprise their parents by cooking a meal. Their father was so surprised, he signed them up for cooking classes. Their friends Shawn and Peichi took the classes too. With their new skills, they helped a family whose house had a fire, make meals. They also became friends with someone who they thought was spoiled, showing that friends can be found in the oddest places. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Something Nice!
This book is all about a school play. A musical, to be specific. It was really good. Mary-Kate got the lead, and her understudy tried to make her get sick and mess stuff up for her. That's all I can tell you or else I would be spoiling the story for you!

5-0 out of 5 stars Not Bad!
This book was really good. It has a great plot and is interesting. 5-0 out of 5 stars another great olsen book!
Hello Everyone! Just wanted to add this review because I just got this book yesterday and finished it yesterday night so obviously it was a good book because i had to finish it! but it was another great mary-kate and ashley olsen book. In this book, Mary-kate and Ashley think they dont spend enough time with each other so they decide that they should room together at White Oak Boarding School for a whole week... Mary-Kate placed a bet with her real roommate, Campbell Smith and Ashley's roomate,Phoebe Cahill.. Does Mary-Kate win the bet or does campbell and phoebe? Read the book to find out yourself! :-D

5-0 out of 5 stars The Main Idea
This book was awesome. What happened was that Mary-Kate had moved into a dorm w/Ashley for a week. Ashley had new habbits that Mary-Kate didn't like. One thing was that Ashley turned the lights out at 8:30. She also had a big girafe named Mr.Stretch that anoyed Mary-Kate. The last thing was that Ashley had an avalanche of clothes in the closet. Mary-Kate bet her friends Phobbe and Campbell that she could change Ashley's habbits. She tricked Ashleyinto staying up late by saying there was a live concert on the radio and Ashley belived her so stayed up late. MShe gave some of her clothes to the White Oak Theater. Mr.Stretch was the last thing. Ashley gave him away to her friend so she could give it to her boyfriend. In the end Phobbe and Campbell ended up washing Mary-Kate's clothes for 2 months! ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Surprise, surprise!
Ashley is throwing a party for her friend, Jennifer Dilber but Mary Kate wanted to throw a party for her best friend, Amanda Bennet. Her friend, Amanda got mad at her for not calling her back when Mary Kate's supposed to. In the ending, they both got a surprise party for their friends and everyone felt happy!

4-0 out of 5 stars Party!!
Another pretty cool Two of a Kind novelette.Mary-Kate and Ashley are planning a party each, for the same night. Now the competition is on as to who will recieve the most guests!

5-0 out of 5 stars The best book in the series!
Mary-Kate plans a suprise party for her best friend Amanda on the same night Ashley plans a suprise party for her best friend Jennifer. Even though Mary-Kate and Ashley are twin sisters, they have totally different personalities so major arguments arise, not only with each other but with their best friends. I'd have to say this is the best book in the whole series that I've read so far because these kinds of problems are what everyday kids would probably have.

5-0 out of 5 stars Oh No!
Mary-Kate and Ashley are in big trouble. Mary-Kate planned a surprise party for her friend which is great, but unfortunately Ashley planned a surprise party for her best friend the same night at their house. They came for the biggest surprise. A great book!

5-0 out of 5 stars For Bunny Lovers, Young and Old!
I'm 22 and I have a 3 year old nephew.I went to the library to pick up some books for myself and this book caught my eye, why?The bunnies!Theyare not "drawn" pictures, but actual PHOTO'S of REAL bunnies! They photography is wonderful and the story line is adorable!

It's abouta family of bunnies, 2 of the baby bunnies being "twins". Everyone keeps calling the one bunny by his brothers name and he just wantsto be himself! The book goes through all the suggestions from the otherbunnies and in the end...well, I won't tell you how, but he becomeshimself.

In the back there is reading tools for your children, that aregreat.Although my nephew isn't to that state, I read through the back andif your teaching your children to read, it has some great lessons and fungames to go with the book to help teach.

If your children love rabbits, buy this book! ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars War of the wardrobe
Ever been pushed to wear something you don't even like one bit? Mary- Kate and Ashley did by having to wear uniforms. But they are going to stop it. Mary-Kate and Ashley and their friends held up signs and made deals. One of them was that Ashley had to make a new design for the uniforms. What will happen?

I liked this book because they didn't just stand there and let something they didn't like happen. They didn't want uniforms! Even if they got in trouble they still didn't want uniforms.

I would suggest this book to people who are into fashion and wardrobes and chapter books. If you want to find out what happens read War of the Wardrobe. Have fun!

4-0 out of 5 stars War of the Wardrobes is another great olsen book!
I think War of the Wardrobes was a pretty good book. This is what it's about -- Ashley HATES school uniforms. But she wrote an article about dress codes for the school newspaper - and now everyone thinksn she likes them. Students at White Oak Academy might have to wear uniforms - and they're blaming Ashley!
Mary-Kate agrees to help Ashley ban uniforms forever. But they'll have to work fast-or face a fashionless future!
I found all of that information on the back of the book. It's a pretty good book. I have 17 two of a kind books, and this was a pretty good book. If you are an olsen fan, then I recommend that you read this book and all the other ones!!!

5-0 out of 5 stars TWO OF A KIND- The most interesting of MKA books!
Two of a kind series is probably the most interesting books i've read in a while. THey keep me intrigued and have plot. The average book in this series only took me 3 hrs. to read, because I couldn't put it down! This book is about how their acadamy might be getting uniforms and they're protesting it. Cheesy sounding? yes. Is it? no.

5-0 out of 5 stars PROBLEM
THis book is really Great I really enjoned it! ! ! When Marykate and Ashley go back to White Oak Academy they find out they will soon have to wear uniforms and the uniforms are really really ugly! They just have to do something about it. Find out if Marykate and Ashley and there friends can stop it. I dont want to ruin the ending for you. ... Read more
