4-0 out of 5 stars please, please, please don't let this be the end!!!
The Unicorns of Balinor is a really great series. Though I read them quickly, they're really cool. But I wish the series would come out with a 9th book!!!! #8 is too much of a cliffhanger!!!! What happens to ari? everyone wants to know!!! soon!!! But for those who haven't read eight yet, I recommend it!!! p.s. if you loved these books i recommend tamora pierce's books too

4-0 out of 5 stars Very good book, but series needs another installment
I loved this book! I own all the other books in the series and have read them all numerous times. I think Mary Stanton should write a book 9 and maybe 10! I want to know what happens after but overall this was a great book!

5-0 out of 5 stars Unfortunately there will be no more...
I am an adult and enjoyed this series a lot. The only thing I can complain about is that Mary Stanton used some characters and places from her book Piper at the Gate. It ruined the series for me a little. Unfortunately there will be no more books, Scholastic was no interested in continuing the series. If you want to read more about the author, visit her website...

4-0 out of 5 stars An adventure that just keeps going
This book takes you on a adventure that is thrilling and a imagination getter. You have to get into the books, but once you have there is nothing stopping you, exempt when there is not a next book out yet, that is why I rated it a four. I can not wait for the next book to take me on another adventure. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars A great book!
Sunchaser the unicorn , Lori , Ari and a unicorn toby are trying to find the Royal scepter and they ask the old mare of the mountain , who tells them they will find in the valley of fear were the black unicorns are. Ari needs it to be the princess of balinor , she just wants to be the ordinary girl she is but she must for Sunchaser the great unicorn and she must for Balinor. So Sunchaser and Toby the unicorns with Lori Sunchasers master and Ari the maid to her go to the valley of fear dressed as soldiers and Ari finds the Royal Secpter but both girls Lori and Ari with Sunchaser fall into the pit and are back at Glacier River Farm.

5-0 out of 5 stars Valley of Fear
The Unicorns of Balinor is a very good example of protagonist/antagonist books. Foreshadowing is also displayed very well. I remember when I read it for the first time two years ago, I was kept on the edge of my seat because the story line is very addicting and suspenseful. It's hard not to imagine your self in a woodland watching the old mare of the mountian appear or carefully making your way across the fiery feild (in order to recliam the royal septer from the evil shifter).

True, the book ends very abruptly, but that is why it is in a series. This is not; however, a series you can read out of order. Trust me, I have tried to do that. It doesn't work.

5-0 out of 5 stars Let The Quest Go On...
Are you looking for a good book that is beautiful and peaceful? Do you need a book that must have adventure or even lead to death? That humans can talk to animals? Is this the book you want? Well if it is then here's a book that will inspire you! The Unicorns of Balinor Valley of Fear by Mary Stanton. Arianna, Princess of Balinor, is trying to find her parents the King and Queen and her two Brothers the princes. The land they rule is a peaceful valley where Unicorns live. The Celestial Unicorns to be exact. Humans talk to the animals and even to the cows! Some of the unicorns work for the humans and they don't need to be steered or anything. If you say where you need to go,
they go.

This book really inspired me because it has adventure in it. Fore example, there is a hero named Princess Arianna and her horse Chase, then there's Lori. She doesn't like to do every thing that Arianna wants Lori to do. They argue but then Lori
says something so rude that Arianna finally put her foot down and spoke up. See I have liked this book so much that I really had to read the rest. For example...
Lori: "I'm not going now. I am spending the night in a real bed. I'll think about leaving in the morning."

Ari: "You. Will. Do. As. I. Say. I've agreed to your terms, Lori. Now listen to mine...."
So sit back pick up the book and as they say Let the quest go on.

4-0 out of 5 stars From a 13 year old fan
I may be thirteen, but that doesn't mean I can't enjoy books below my level. The only reason I rated this four stars was because I think the stories could have been longer. I have read the whole series and loved them. I hope a ninth book come out because there are so many things about Ari's parents we don't know about yet. I have read them many times and do so whenever I need to read a good book.

5-0 out of 5 stars EXCELLENT BOOK!
Valley of Fear was a great book! Dang!Mary Stanton can sure bring to life her characters. Unicorns of Balinor is my favorite book no doubt! This book brings to life a vivid image in your head! Hint to all readers-MUST READ ALL BOOKS IN THIS SERIES IN ORDER! I love this book! ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Power of the Star
I liked the book Search for the Star by Mary Stanton. It is a wonderful book. I enjoyed the parts of the book which had magic, adventure and fantasy. This book has a unicorn that has magic powers. Also there is a princess who has a magic scepter. She is trying to fight evil.

This is a good book to recommend to readers that like fantasy books. The story is very exciting to read. Throughout the story the characters say and do things that do not make sense at first until later in the book. I look forward to reading the other books in the series to see if they are as good as the 5 book. I hope you read this book and enjoy it as much as I did.

5-0 out of 5 stars Full of Suspense!
At a bookfair at my school, I bought a few books, including the first 3 Unicorn of Balinor books. At first I thought that I had bought some baby books, with a happily ever after ending and story. I was sooo wrong! I read all the books very quickly, and I keep re-reading them, without getting bored of them. They are great books to anyone who loves horses, adventure, and plain fun in books. The first book is basically a begining to the rest of the books, and it is best to start with it. And you don't really understand anything, until the second book. And at the end of the first book, it ends like: There was a sign. And the sign said: Welcome to Balinor. She took one step forward, then another. Becuase I had the second book, I read it, and that's when I really liked the series. So my advice is: If you want to get this book, then get the second, too, or you'll miss the point in it, and you probably won't want to read on. I'm only a 12 year old girl, but as you have seen with other revies about the series, several different ages enjoy it. I hope that this revies helped you, and that you try out the book.

5-0 out of 5 stars Series
I bought the first book a long time ago, and I read it. I found it really interesting, but I never knew where to buy the rest. I finally found them on Amazon.com when my Aunt sent my a gift-certificate for my birthday, but I could only afford numbers 2,3,4, and 5. I am working on number 5 now, and I only picked the books up a few days ago! I am trying to save my money to get numbers 6, 7 and 8 and hopefully.. 9 when Ms. Stanton comes out with it. I started to read these books and I could not put them down! I love the storylines and I have always dreamed of horses/unicorns that could talk. Ms. Stanton has truly made me a believer of Unicorns, and Balinor.

5-0 out of 5 stars GREAT BOOKS!!
My daughter just turned 8 years old and absolutely loved these books. She is hoping that Ms. Stanton writes more. In her own words "these are the best books in the world". I thought they might be too advanced for her - but she has breezed through them in no time.

5-0 out of 5 stars This book rocks!!!!!!!!!!!!
I am a huge fan of fantasy and this book is great! It may be short, but it moves along fast and has lots of adventure. You never know what will happen next!!!!!!! This book is about a girl called Arianna, Ari for short. Ari has fallen from her world of Balinor into our world. But, after a terrible accident that broke both her legs, Ari does not remember who she is, the Princess of Balinor. Her bonded unicorn, Sunchaser, the Lord of the Animals, has also lost his horn, jewel, and memory. Can they restore all that is lost and bring peace back to Balinor? Read and find out!!!!

Other good books:
"The Dragon Chronicles"
"The Book of Night With Moon"
"Into the Land of the Unicorns"
"The Circle of Magic" series
"The Immortals" series
"The song of the Lioness" quartet
"His Dark Materials" trilogy
"The Sight" and "Firebringer"
"Growing Wings"

5-0 out of 5 stars I Love these books!!!
these are such good books that i have read them over and over. I love how the Sunchaser and Ari are bonded and how they help each other through tough times and make so many kewl freinds. I give this whole seires 5 stars cuz they are the best unicorn books i have read. if you think that unicorns are all wild and noone can ride them then i think youre mistaken because many books present unicorns as friends to humans and in certain circumstances allow humans to ride them even though they do not nessicarly like it. onc again i say these are great books for anybody ppl of all ages could read these books. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Just great!
This has got to be the best book of the whole series.I love it! It shows inside strength and how hard it is to make real decisions.

5-0 out of 5 stars A Great Book!
Unicorns of Balinor: Secrets of the Scepter, is a great book. I like it because of the suspense and the way the author describes almost every single detail. It's about how Arianna must learn how to use the Scepter's powers. In doing that, she must gather the three golden rings, not by finding them, but by earning them. Meanwhile, the Shifter is gathering hisarmy and preparing to attack Balinor. Also, the Celestial Valley Unicornsare preparing to help the Royal Princess and her unicorn, Sunchaser in thebattle against the Shifter. But there is a creature, The Shadow Rider, thatthe Shifter himself fears. He helped the Shifter plan the battle thatcaptured Arianna's family. He's in on it too. In the end, she has all therings and combines them with the Scepter. Now they're ready to fight.
