4-0 out of 5 stars A TALL TEXAS TALE FOR YOUNGSTERS
When a critter halfway as high as Butterfly Butte comes upon some cowboys and their chuck wagon, he devours not only the beans but the pot, too. Now, that's an appetite.

This rip-roarin' saga about the unlikely alliance between the giant Tex and the cowboys will keep children smiling. Together, they outsmart the rustlers.

Then, "with a trembling of the tumbleweed," the giant of the prairie is gone. But, not forgotten.

5-0 out of 5 stars Lots of fun
Tyrannosaurus Tex is my 4 1/2 year old daughter's favorite book. The story and illustrations are wonderful and the combination of dinosaurs and cowboys is ingenious.

5-0 out of 5 stars My son's favorite book!
My son & I found this in the library and subsequently bought our own copy, we love it so much. A lot of fun, especially when Tex arrives and eats the pot of beans, pot and all!

5-0 out of 5 stars Friendly T-Rex meets cowboys in the old west.
A wonderful book. I read it to my son every night until we had to return it to the library. Get a copy to keep for any three year old who's into dinosaurs. ... Read more

Book Description

Cowboys are often portrayed as heroes from America's past. However, the real cowboy's life was more than just gunfights and daring escapades. It was also the challenge of a cattle drive or breaking in wild horses. And sometimes at the end of a long day, a cowboy had only his horse for companionship. Yet even today, cowboys continue to personify all that was new and exciting about frontier life.

With over one hundred vintage photographs, posters, and paintings from the archives of the Library of Congress, often called "the storehouse of the national memory," here is the story of the real American cowboy--and what made that life such a legendary one.At Home On the Range ... Read more

Book Description

All little May ever wanted to be was a cowboy, for as long as she can remember. At the movies each Saturday, she studies how to be a cowboy, how to push her hat back and squint in the sun, or ambush something on her bike. All she needs is a horse, but her parents won’t even let her have a dog. So May builds her own horse from a blanket and a piece of clothesline on the basement banister. On her banister horse, she dreams of the world of cowboys, the open trail, and her favorite cowboy songs.

5-0 out of 5 stars Puncher Pie and Cowboy Lies
This is one of the funniest books I have ever read.Coming from the Southwest, I almost feel like I know these characters. I read a story anytime I need my spirits lifted. My thanks to the author.

5-0 out of 5 stars What a bunch of BULLoney
What a terrific book! This is a great book full of BULLoney. The book is written just like you were sitting there with the boys around the campfire.I swore I about busted a gut laughing...

5-0 out of 5 stars Funniest pack of lies I've ever read!!!
Sederwall's great sense of humor, and ability to tie short stories into one big hoorah, is incredible. If you like Jeff Foxworthy's style of jokes, you'll love "Puncher Pie & Cowboy Lies." You don'teven have to be a cowboy to enjoy the chuckling humor of this book.Youalmost feel like your in a comedic Louie Lamour! A definite must read!

5-0 out of 5 stars Cowboy story-telling at its finest!
As one of the characters in this book, I can assure you that the campfire quibble was all true (at least in our minds, such as they are). And since you weren't there it really doesn't matter much.A bunch of us cowboysjust sat around the campfire for several days and told bold stories as onlywe could remember them. Being a personal acquaintance of all those folks (I would never admit to anyone that they were friends) I can only say, neverlet them hold your money for you!The book was definitely a major dose of"Puncher Pie" served up with a hearty plate of sarcasm andobnoxious behavior; stories whichprobably meant something to someone butcertainly not to any of us.Read the book during those times you don'twant any intellectual stimulation. It will definitely help you pass thetime and put many a grins on ya'. ... Book Description

Loping through a book by Will James is the next best thing to being there.

Born in a covered wagon near Great Falls, Montana, and an orphan at the age of three, James was adopted by a French Canadian trapper and prospector. With no formal schooling or lessons in drawing, "he was a cowboy until a bucking horse threw him into writing," as Time magazine once said of him.He looked more like an Irish scholar than a cowpuncher, but he wrote as he talked...in a natural, easy-going way.

This book contains 15 memorable stories. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Sweet
This book is the seventh in a series based on the Woody's Roundup gang (Woody, Jessie and the Prospector) from Disney/Pixar's Toy Story 2. In this book, when Jessie's Aunt Grace sends word that she is coming out from Snootyville, New York for a visit, the Prospector decides that Jessie needs to "fancy" up to impress her. Unfortunately for Jessie, curtsying and riding sidesaddle are just not something she knows a lot about...

This short book is printed on a heavy grade of paper and contains a copious amount of wonderful, pencil-drawn illustration; both of which conspire to give this book a 1950s feel! The story is quite sweet, and easy to read. Both my eight-year-old son and ten-year-old daughter read this book with me and enjoyed it. We highly recommend this book to you. ... Read more

Book Description

After a long, arduous trail drive, cowboys were faced with a long ride home. It was customary for ranches along the route to offer food and shelter in exchange for work. Going from ranch to ranch was called riding the grub line.

Too Tall Thomas is a cowboy to his bones. When he finishes a long trail drive and begins to make his way home, he finds that life on the grub line is not all it’s cracked up to be. Though the work is hard and the food satisfies his hunger, it’s never as good as riding the range. After too-small beds and fancy vittles on his way south, Thomas is glad to settle in for the winter as a West Texas ranch hand for the staple food of a cowboy: bacon, beans, and coffee.

James Rice here returns to claim his prominence as one of the best illustrators of cowboys and the West. In "Too Tall Thomas Rides the Grub Line," Rice’s illustrations bring the reality of cowboy life to light with humor and detail certain to delight young readers. ... Read more

Book Description

Saddle up and join an entrepreneurial young cowboy and a million dollars'

worth of turtles in a twisted tall tale set in the Wild West.Someone's got to

supply the turtles to Frenchy's Gourmet Eating Establishment and Pizza Parlor,

where the house specialty is--you guessed it--turtle soup, and our hero reckons

it might as well be him.Soon he's roaming the wide frontier, lumbering

turtles in tow. There's a fortune waiting for him at Frenchy's--if he ever

gets there!"The narrative crackles with storytelling verve, begging to be

told or read aloud...This clever, original tall tale should join the herd of

others for hard-shelled guffaws for young readers."--School Library Journal
