Book Description

Introducing Tracy Beaker, 10-year-old girl-wonder and the daughter of a famous Hollywood actress . . . sort of.

Tracy Beaker’s not exactly sure what her mother does, because Tracy has been in foster care for as long as she can remember. She has a picture of her mother, who’s pretty enough to be in movies, so maybe she is. And maybe one day Tracy’s mother will show up and reclaim her long-lost daughter, and together they’ll have fabulous adventures. Then again, maybe she won’t. In the meantime, Tracy’s doing everything she can to take care of herself–even though she has to share her birthday cake with silly Petey Ingham just because they have the same birthday . . . and even though the other girls she lives with are mean and nasty and rude and horrible. Mostly. Then a journalist shows up to write a story about their orphanage, and she and Tracy strike up a special friendship.

In a story written with humor and sensitivity, Tracy emerges as a spirited girl who’s not quite as tough as she lets
everybody think she is.

5-0 out of 5 stars When the parents split up, where do you fit in?
Andy West's parents have divorced and have started new lives with other partners. Andy is to spend one week with her mother and the "Baboon" and his miserable children. While there, she is forced to share her step-sister Katie's room, and Katie goes out of her way to make Andy miserable. On the weeks Andy stays with her dad and his "new agey" wife Carrie, she shares a room with 5 year old twins Zen and Crystal, and their mess. To add to the misery, Carrie is pregnant. The only one who understands's Andy's confusion is her constant companion Radish, a tiny toy rabbit. Radish understands how Andy misses the tiny cottage she and her parents shared. Radish understands how hard it is to make people you barely know, your family. Radish understands how hard it is to remember all your schoolwork and belongings when you stay at two places. All Andy wants is a place for her and Radish to feel at home. One day she and Radish discover a tiny, hidden garden, that they long to make their own. This is a sensitive story of divorce and one child trying to cope with events out of her control. Once again, Jacqueline Wilson has displayed an uncanny understanding of the needs of a child, and a true ear for dialog. This is a sweet book and a must read for anyone you know who has been touched by divorce.

5-0 out of 5 stars Bags of fun - The Suitcase Kid review by B O'Problem
Andrea is a ten year old kid on the move. It's a tough decision between Mum with the Baboon or Dad and Carrie. Will she be on the move forever? The answer lies in the story. A delightful one to please the kids.

5-0 out of 5 stars Very Realistic
This book is about Andrea (Andy) West. It is a funny, realistic and usually quite moving story! I would advise it to anyone who would give The Lottie Project 5 stars!

5-0 out of 5 stars The Suitcase Kid
This story is about a girl called Andy who tells how her parents split up. She now spends one week living with her Mum and the next with her Dad. She used to live in a place called Mulberry Cottage, which was her dream cottage. Her step-parents both have children but she hates her step-Dad's kids. He has got this really mean daughter called Katie who just picks on Andy non-stop. And then there's Graham who is very quiet and just sits in his room playing on his computer. And eldest one (? ) just hangs out at bars with her mates all the time. Her step-Mum has two twins called Crystal and Zen. Crystal is quite nice but Zen is just annoying. This books covers many different themes - anger, jealousy, meanness - as Andy tries to cope with her two new families. Some of it is quite sad but most of it is funny. Most of it is based on Jacqueline Wilson's life when she was a kid, and I think it is the best of her books. It appealed to me because it is a bit like my family. ... Read more

Ellie is starting ninth grade and she's dead set on finding herself aboyfriend. Her two best friends seem to have all the luck in the lovedepartment, but our heroine will stop at nothing to join the ranks. Even if itmeans pretending her 12-year-old pen pal is her gorgeous,head-over-heels-in-love beau. Naturally, chaos ensues, as it always does whenone tries to live a lie, but with Ellie's dry, self-deprecating wit and theantics of her boy-crazy buddies, this is sure to be a year to remember.

Jacqueline Wilson, prolific author of more than 50 books, several of which havebeen short-listed or runners-up for the Carnegie Medal, pens a hilarious andauthentic story about girls in love (or something like it). Readers will eat upthe clever wordplay and painfully funny subplots, and will eagerly anticipatethe other titles in the sequence, Girls Under Pressure and Girls Out Late. 5-0 out of 5 stars A Combination of Fun and Fiction
An enthralling story of three girls, this hilarious novel by Jacqueline Wilson focuses on the finer points of teenage life in present day England. Told through the eyes of a fourteen year old girl, the reader gets an inside look at her thoughts. A talented artist, Ellie, the narrator, talks mostly about her two best friends. One of them is Magda, a striking blonde full of self-confidence, who is boy-crazy and fun loving but sometimes oblivious to serious situations. Another friend is Nadine, a thin, gothic kind of girl who is cynical but also good natured and at times, quite gullible. All these talents and faults of three girls make "GIRLS in love" one great read. I throughly enjoyed the way the author went into interesting detail and the found the humor in every situation. It cleary paints a picture for the reader about what goes on in these girl's everyday lives and what Ellie's thoughts are about everything they go through. Once I began reading, I could not put this book down. Unexpected events happen to the girls, such as Nadine meeting a mystery boy who turns out to be a total jerk, and Magda meeting her usual slew of boys who are all different from one another. As the book begins, Ellie is on her annual torturous family vacation, where she meets a complete nerd boy who falls for her immediately. He later visits her at her home, which takes the book in a whole new direction. I was impressed with the way Jacqueline Wilson described the fast paced emotions that go through a girl's head on a daily basis. I would recommend this book to mainly girls, unless there are boys who are interested in learning about a girl's mind. Anyone who reads this book is in for a great laugh and an excellent story.

4-0 out of 5 stars Mmm, maybe....!
Jaqueleine Wilson is fantastic. There's never been any question about that in my mind. And I'd also like to note that I'm a staunch believer in children's books not being censored. However, even my liberal mind was a little surprised. Most of the books scenes are fine and what I would expect from this excellent author. A parents death, irritating siblings, worries about the opposite sex are what I would expect for girls aged thirteen (the ages of the three heroines) But a couple of places in the book did surprise me somewhat. When one of the girls, Nadine, meets Liam, all three thirteen yea olds go to a nightclub where they are offered drugs (E's and whizz, in Magda's words) and Nadine even takes some "to relax her" to enable her to sleep with Liam (she doesn't.) I fully realise that, sadly, this is a world many thirteen year olds live in, but by writing about it this implies that it is normal. I do think if Wilson's heroines had been, say, sixteen, I would have been far more happy with it. Had I read this book at thirteen, I do wonder if I would have belived clubbing, sex, drugs and parties to be the morn in my age group. Hopefully not. But possibly some thirteen year old somewhere, might. The main reason WIlson's books are applauded is that they are realistic. I would reccomend any parent giving this book to a child to chat with them first and assure them that what the girls in the story do is not by any means what their peers do.

These scenes aside then, this book is excellent. The girls are realistic and strangely likeable. All in all it is a good story but unlike many of Wilson's other books, that is all it is. I did not pick up on any undercurrents of concern here. Give it t your child by all means and read it yourself - just be prepared for "But in this book.." comments!

4-0 out of 5 stars Teens Like You
Have you ever had to deal with friend problems, guy problems, family problems, jealousy, lies, imperfection, and all the other obstacles of growing up? If you have then your not alone!
Ellie Allard is 14 years old and has never had a proper boyfriend. Her best friends Magda and Nadine, are pretty, popular, and are always braggging about their latest boyfriends. Its never bothered her before, but this year she decides to do something about it. She tries going on a diet, getting a glamorous new haircut, and buying a more sophistacated wardrobe but still the only guy she can attract is a nerdy, goofy kid named Dan. Dan lives a few hours away and is always sending Ellie these dorky love letters. At first Ellie just gets annoyed, but then she decides to pretend that Dan is her boyfriend to impress Magda and Nadine, but the Dan she pretends is her boyfriend is nothing like the real Dan at all because the pretend Dan is tall, athletic, nice, cute, and funny. So what would happen if Magda and Nadene found out? Would they not want to be her friend anymore? This book should be read by teenage girls everywhere. I could totally relate to Girls in Love. It was almost like the author was writing about my friends and me in certain parts of the book. Once I started Girls in Love I could not put it down, and I'm sure you would do the same.

3-0 out of 5 stars Hmmmm.....
For some reason, I didn't like this book as much as I thought that I would. All of my friends had been telling me to read, so I did, but it wasn't very enjoyable.

It centers around a girl named Ellie, who is having problems with entering into her teenage years, problems which include having an undesirable boy chase after her and having crushes on unattainable older guys.

When her best friend gets a boy friend, she makes up one of her own, and eventually has to come clean.

But, to all the British kids out there- does all the stuff that's mentioned in the book ACTUALLY happen when you're thirteen in the UK?

4-0 out of 5 stars Great Girls Book
"Girls in Love" is one of my favorites in the Jacqueline Wilson series. She's one of my favorite authors because i can relate to the characters in many of her books. She must of kept her diary from when she was a teen because all the events in the book are what girls go through in Junior High and High School. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Girls In Tears
I'll type in the blurb so you get an exact description of the book: Ellie's glorious romancs with Russell is teetering on the rocks. Magda's lost her pet and is desperately upset (though the others didn't even know she still had a hamster!). And Nadine is fed up with the other two lecturing her about meeting someone on the internet-she thinks an e-mail boyfriend is wonderful!

Buckets of tears are wept and hundreds of tissues are sniffled into. Can the girls' friendship survive these testing times?

I personally love this book, I love all of Jacqueline Wilsons books. It really relates to teenage girls, it's almost as if she has the mind of a teenager. I've read this book twice. I've done the same with girls out late, girls under pressure, girls in love, the lottie project, suitcase kid, the dare game&the story of tracy beaker. I also love watching the tv series Tracy Beaker. It's great. Jacqueline Wilson is my favourite author, and I'm sure if you start reading her great books she'll be yours too!

5-0 out of 5 stars Fantastic non Fictional Teen terror
One of 4 series of Jacqueline Wilsons faboulous teen books, Girls in Tears is a really realistic teen book. Reading this book made me forget all about my troubles and made me think how lucky I was knowing that they where having the worse luck in the world. Magda, Ellie and Nadine are back but they are not very happy. Ellie's magical Romance with Russel is looking very wobbly and Magda has suffered the loss of her precios little hamster. Everything is going wrong for the girls but can there friendship stay together through this tough time read this marvelous book to find out.

2-0 out of 5 stars Definitely not as good as the first three
I was really disappointed in this book. I had read the first three in the series and thought they were pretty good, but this one was awful. Ellie's boyfriend is a creep who steals her ideas, monopolizes her time, makes fun of her friends, and tries to take advantage of her and yet she still stays with him? What kind of message is this book sending to young girls- that it is okay to let your boyfriends control you if you really love them? I do NOT recommend this book! ... Read more

Ellie is frantic. Her two best friends seem to be living life in thefast lane while she putters along the curb. Glamorous blond Magda has got athousand cute boys buzzing around her, and Goth girl Nadine has just been askedto take part in a national teen modeling contest. All Ellie has are massivepanic attacks about her weight. So she decides to go on a diet. But instead ofcounting calories, Ellie just tries to stop eating altogether. Soon she'sstarving, miserable, and lying all the time to her friends and family. Luckily,a frightening encounter with a real anorectic, and an encouraging dose of arthistory from a handsome new teacher ("Beauty is just fashion. Male artists haveused beautiful women throughout the centuries but their sizes and proportionskeep changing") help Ellie realize that size is just a state of mind.

In this second installment of the Girls trilogy, fabulous British authorJacqueline Wilson keeps her trademark funny bone firmly in place whilesimultaneously raising some sobering questions about issues like eatingdisorders and teens' overemphasis on appearance. Despite the laughs, Ellie verynearly lapses into anorexia, Magda gets a scare when her chronic flirting almostleads to date rape, and Nadine realizes that the modeling business could careless about her individuality or intellect. Wrapping serious messages in a sugarycomical coating is always the best way to make the medicine go down. 5-0 out of 5 stars Magnificent
When Ellie comes up with the idea to go shopping for Christmas presents at the mall she doesn't realize there's a model search going on. Soon her two best friends (Magda and Nadine) are dragging her along so they can try out. The only problem? All the girls are so skinny and perfect and Ellie is fat (in her opinion) and not perfect.

Soon Ellie begins to stop eating, and starts throwing up when she does eat. But with the help of a friend (Zoe), who's anorexic and begins slowly killing herself, Ellie realizes that being thin doesn't mean anything, it's what's on the inside that counts.

This is a great book, and I recommend it to all fans of books such as "The Princess Diaries" and "Angus, Thongs, and Full Frontal Snogging".

4-0 out of 5 stars Good Book
The book "Girls Under Pressure" was a good book. It was a book about a girl named Ellie. Ellie has a brother named Eggs her dad and a step mom named Anna. She has two best friends, Magda and Nadine. Ellie thinks she is fat and goes on a diet. But this isn't just an ordinary diet where only nutritional food allowed, Ellie stops eating completely. But occasionally when she forgets and ends up stuffing herself, she runs to the nearest bathroom and makes herself throw-up by shoving two fingers down her throat. Magda is obsessed with boys and is the wealthiest out of the three, plus she's an only child. Nadine is the thinnest out of the three and she tries out to be the model on the cover of a magazine, she has a younger sister named Natasha that she can't stand to be around. This book relates to some girls, because some girls think of themselves as fat and end up starving themselves and turning anorexic or bulimic. I would recommend this book because it can help people, especially if they think they're fat.

2-0 out of 5 stars Not that good
I would not recommend buying this. If you are extremely bored and just looking for a way to pass the time, I suggest checking it out from the library. I have read the first three "Girls" books and this is my least favorite... The characters aren't very likeable in my opinion in any of the books, frankly, they are all way too self centered and just annoying. And the ending seemed like it was cut too short, and not an accurate portrayal of an eating disorder. An anorexic/bulemic doesnt just suddenly decide that she doesnt want to end up that way and simply go eat, its not that easy. I am disappointed in this series and will not waste my time or money on the 4th book.

5-0 out of 5 stars AWESOME!!!
i have literally reread this book FIVE times. i think out of the GIRLS quartet this book is definitely the best. i couldnt get enough of it. ellie is so hilarious and funny with a brilliant british accent, and yet she also remains very realstic with some very real problems many girls can deal with. i love jacqueline wilson, and among her books this is definitely one of my faves. i esp liked how her family wasnt the perfect little loving extended family that books often have. they definitely arent all angels, esp her father. her conflicts with them, along with her friends, are things i have totally experienced and felt. i dont kno how wilson does it, but she really does remember what life was like as a teen. not just the typical 'Oh im so lonely life sucks' sort of thing a lot of books display, but how teen life really can be hellish, which is shown when ellie struggles thru anorexia. even tho she keeps her sense of humor and the book overall is a fun, quick read, it really does reach out to some complex emotions and hilarious events that reader will LOVE

2-0 out of 5 stars Not at all good
This book was not good at all! Well, let me take that back. It was rather interesting and semi-accurate in some parts, but in others lagged off and was not at all what one [truly] suffering from an eating disorder would feel/respond like...Maybe this sort of view is as much as can be expected of a fictional book, and by a woman who has probably never had an eating disorder--God forbid--but, I was expecting more. The story's plot faltered at many angles, and, sorry to be redundant, was not at all a correct portrayal of an eating disordered mind. The book ends with the main character seeing the impact of eating disorders and life of Anorexics in an Eating Disorder rehabilitation type setting, and then--not wanting to end up in that same situation--goes off to lunch. At this point, what I would like to call my "what-the-heck" moment came about. What on earth sort of ending was that? Even if she, an eating disordered person, had wanted to stop hurting herself in that way, and wanted to go and eat, there would be no way that she could simply hop up and eat fearlessly. Not without compensatory behaviors afterwards. She could, yes, seek help in her struggle to break free of the chains of an eating disorder--but she could never do it alone. Maybe I am reading into this too thoroughly. Possibly the book was only a fable-type read to persuade girls to love their bodies and themselves...either way, the type of stage that was set was quite inaccurate.

I gave this book two stars for the attempt, and also for it's slightly interesting parts in-between what really sucked to me. If you are looking for a quick read, a true "story" in the fact that it is quite inaccurate and very lacking in information, this is for you.

Book Description

Ten-year-old Ruby and Garnet are identical twins who do everything together. Especially since their mother died three years earlier. They dress alike, wear their hair the same, and sit together in every class. In fact, everything about them is the same--except their personalities. Ruby is funny and outgoing, Garnet is sensitive and shy. Together they're the perfect double act--and that's just the way they like it.
Soon the twins' life is turned upside down. Their dad has been spending a lot of time with his new "friend" Rose. Ruby and Garnet can't stand Rose. To make matters worse, Dad and Rose buy a bookstore out in the country and the whole family moves. Ruby hates their new school, but Garnet thinks it isn't all that bad. When Garnet befriends some of their new classmates, Ruby feels betrayed and stops speaking to Garnet. Garnet misses her sister terribly, but has to admit it's nice doing things on her own for a change. Somehow, the girls will have to find a way to maintain their special twin relationship without spending every minute of the day together.

4-0 out of 5 stars double Act
Welcome to Double Act, a book about twins that do the same things but have different attitudes. The characters are Ruby and Garnet, the twins. They do everyting together and want to go to boarding school but only one twin got in!

I liked the book because I could visualize what is going on and it has some pictures. There is some action, but I don;t think it is supposed to have much action. I like this book because a lot of people can connect to it. I can copnnect because I get mad at my brother like Ruby gets mad at Garnet.

I recommend this book to all twins because the book is about twins. I think that twins would connect to this book the most.

5-0 out of 5 stars This is one of my favorite books!!
I read a book called Double Act. This was one of the best books that I have ever read. It was funny, adventurous, and very much like real life. It was adventurous because the two main characters, Ruby and Garnet, who are identical twins, ask their dad (their mom is dead) if they can audition for a twin commercial, but he says no. Regardless of this, they go to New York and audition. It was funny because their dad met someone that they hate and they do funny things like confuse her, throw-up on her, etc. This is realistic because she made these two characters act how real twins act-I would know because I have a twin sister. Jacqueline wilson has a very unique writing style. she uses cliffhangers, and writes in a way that there is never a part whereit isn't interesting, boring or obvious. this is a book that you just can't put down! When you come acorss a book well-written, like this one, you say, "Mom, just let me finish this chapter I have just one more page to finish!" You really have three, but anything to read more of it! I suggest this book to anyone who like funny, adventurous, and realistic books.

4-0 out of 5 stars Double Act
Welcome to Double Act by Jacqueline Wilson. This book is about 2 girls that are twins. Their names are Ruby and Garnet. They really don't like their Dad's new girlfriend. Their real mother died when they were little. Now their whole life is ruined when Rose comes in. If you want to find out more, just buy the book, you'll love it!

I liked this book because I remebered my old friends when reading it. They don't like their stepmother either. They are aleays crying because they want their mother back.

I would like to recommend this book to my friends and to all the girls that like reading about twins. I bet that when you get this book you won't want to put it down.

2-0 out of 5 stars Double Act
The author of this book is Jacueline wilson. This book is about two twins named Ruby and Garnet that have probloms in there life. Some probloms they fix and some they dont. There dad also has a new girlfriend named Rose and she brings even more afliction into the family.

What i liked about the book was that the story was told by the twins. I think that if the story was told by the authors point of view it would be very tiresome. I think it was great that both of the twins got to write in the book because its fastidious to know somthing from two point of view.

I would rate this book a little under ok because it wasnt such an exciting book.I think this book should be for 5th graders cause its boring for older people.

5-0 out of 5 stars More than a double act
This book is the most interesting book in the world.I have read it over and over again and i'll never get bored of it.The book is about two twins (Ruby and Garnet)that live with their Dad and Grandma.Their Mum died when they were little. The twins are very close and they do everything together.Everything is fine until they get a letter asking if 1 of them wants to go to a Girls bording school! If you just need to know what happens then i reccomend you to read this book!!! ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Amazing
No child should be without this book. It gives disabled children hope, children with a certain parent comfort and even gives out advice about getting a boyfriend or girlfriend! Packed full of jokes because of the wonderful teacher Mr. Speed, I highly recommend.

5-0 out of 5 stars No one should have to worry alone.
Mr. Speed's class is full of all sorts of interesting people, including Holly, Greg, Clarie, William, Samantha, Lisa and Natasha. These kids have worries just like everyone else, but they may not feel comfortable talking about them in the open. That is why Mr. Speed developed the Worry Web Site.

Each worry is unique. For example, Holly is worried about getting a stepmother. She has lived with her dad and sister Hannah ever since her mum left, and now her dad has met a lady named Ms. Morgan. How will she react to this news? Meanwhile, Greg thinks his crush is hopeless, and Samantha feels as if everything is wrong.

Anyone who has a worry can go to the website, type up their problem, and receive replies from their classmates. There is helpful advice from Mr. Speed, who always seems to know how to help solve his students' dilemmas. Some worries are simple while others are more complex. Needless to say, though, there is help for all.

You will definitely want to share THE WORRY WEB SITE with your friends. Overall the book was good, even though there could have been more characters and stories within these pages. Please remember, though --- you should always talk to someone, whether it's a friend or a trusted adult, if you have a worry. No one should have to worry alone.

4-0 out of 5 stars Anonymous Chat Room -- a review by Nisha, age 10
Kids in Mr. Speedy's class talk about their worries on the Worry Web Site. The Worry Web Site is an anonymous chat room where students can talk about their worries without being laughed at. Common worries come up, and solutions are found by pure accident in this book. All of the worries are realistic, and some of the worries are:
"I am useless at everything."
"I miss my Dad, and my teacher doesn't like me."
"I want to perform in the concert."
Appealing and delightful, this book is good to answer your worries.

Each chapter has a different plot, and each plot is exciting in its own way. Many use flashbacks where the students remember the problem and find a solution in it. The worries are worries that come up in life, so the book feels very realistic. People type up their worries, and anyone who wants to answer the worry can answer it. Mr. Speedy often answers these worries as well, but unfortunately his answers are almost never useful. The kids in Mr. Speedy's class face problems that have outrageously funny solutions. You see, the way Mr. Speedy helps his students to find the answers to their problems is always by pure accident, and the accident is always extremely funny. ... Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars book reveiw on girls out late
name of the book: girls out late
author: jacqueline wilson
date of book when made: 2003
age recommendation: 10+
appetite of the book: the book is good in someparts.
opinions: This book is good because it is funny the story has different chapters and each chapter is about a different day of their life. The book is aboutthree girls who go out late and one girl who is fat gets a boyfriend. Each chapter is different and is about a different day of their life and then the other two get a boyfriend.

4-0 out of 5 stars Very Late!!!
Ellie goes to the mall on a normal day with her two best friends and happens to meet this eleventh grade boy called Russell in McDonalds and they stay out very very late. Now, though this may be romantic to some of the people, I think it is also very freaky, but it is very realistic that's what I like very much about this series, and the coincidences that happen between Russell and Ellie, stuff like misunderstanding Russell stood Ellie up, and Russell's school dance colliding with the Claudie concert Ellie is going with Magda and Nadine can really happen. I just think that the first two chapters are just far too hopeless and staying in the park with a guy you don't know is kind of dangerous, but the end is connected to real life and the decisions were smart and makes a nice story.

4-0 out of 5 stars For fans of Georgia Nicholson and Alice McKinley
In this latest installment in the English series about chubby Ellie, boy-crazy Magda, and elegant Nadine, a lighter issue is the focus of the plot: curfews. Ellie at last has a real boyfriend, but her desire to meet with him is stronger than the desire to get home on time, much to the frustration and worry of her father and young stepmother. A subplot of a crush on the new art teacher is sweet and easy to relate to.
Woodson's engaging heroine is the everygirl equivalent to Phyllis Reynolds Naylor's Alice character, with a British accent and slightly less talk about bodily function. All slang is easily comprehended in context, eliminating the need for a glossary. Darling Ellie is both smarter and more PC than Georgia Nicholson, and there is humor and high drama here as well as fairly normal girls who just want to be loved.
The attractive compact size, low price and catchy covers equal more bang for the buck - once your Alice fans get hold of these, you may need multiple copies. Other titles address anorexia and dating violence. Highly recommended for middle school and up collections.

girls out late is a very interesting book ot is about three very different girls that are friends growing up. ellie one of the girls loves to draw and and she went to the mall one day and she saw a guy in 11th grade and she fell in love just like he loved her! he was so interesting to see how 2 totally different people can make such a great couple! you sould definatly go read GIRLS OUT LATE ~~ BY JACQUELINE WILSON~~

5-0 out of 5 stars Another Excellent Addition to the Series
When Ellie meets a Year Eleven boy in McDonald's named Russell, sparks fly between the two of them. Soon the two of them are boyfriend and girlfriend (what Ellie has always wanted), and are slowly falling in love. But when there's a miscommunication between Ellie and Russell, and Ellie thinks that he's stood her up, Nadine and Magda decide to buy tickets to a Claudie concert to cheer her up. But soon, Ellie finds out that Russell hadn't meant to stand her up, and asks her to the school dance. Unfortunately the school dance is on the same day as the Claudie concert, and if she says she can't go to the concert, Nadine and Magda will never forgive her.

This is a must read book, Jacqueline Wilson has created another writing masterpiece with "Girls Out Late." ... Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars The Mum Minder
The Mum Minder
By Jacqueline Wilson

This story is about the week in the life of an eight-year old girl called Sadie whose mother is a child minder. Sadie's mother looks after three year old Gemma, two year old Vincent, baby Clive and Sadie's sister Sara. During the week of the school holidays, Sadie's mother gets the flu. This book tells the story of how Sadie helped all the other mums to look after the children in turn by taking them to their workplaces. By the end of the week Sadie's mother feels better but Sadie and Sara catch the flu!

This book is light hearted and has got quite a few laughs in it.
My favourite part is when all the little children pinch the chocolates from Clive's mums shop. I think it is a good book and I would recommend it to a friend of similar age.

I would rate this book 3/5.

Another GREAT book by Jacqueline Wilson. This one tells the story of Dolphin, her sister, and her mum. When they were little girls, Dolphin & Star loved their mum with all their hearts, Dolphin still does, but she's not too sure about Star. Dolphin always felt that Star was the favourite, even more so now, and she had gotten used to it being that way. But then, Star meets her dad, whom the girls have never met before and Dolphin's whole world gets turned up side down. Will things ever go back to normal? to find out you have to read the book! ...
