    Book Description

Meet ten-year-old Lord of the Rings nerd Jason Fox and his high-school freshman sister, Paige. Jason can't believe he and his sister are both vying for front-row seats to the release of the movie. There's no denying that things will never be the same with heartthrob Orlando Bloom's involvement in Jason's favorite series. Don't forget their underachieving older brother, Peter. With three strong adolescent personalities in one household, colorful stuff often hits the fan; dad Roger usually ducks to avoid it, while mom Andy tries to keep it from staining the rug. Orlando Bloom Has Ruined Everything lampoons memorable moments from 2003 and 2004, such as the East Coast blackout. In the FoxTrot version, an "ink outage" renders several days' strips only partially drawn. "I called Funky Winkerbean. He says the ink's out over the entire grid," Jason reports. In another series of strips, Jason's latest money-making scheme involves creating an animated film to rival the box office blockbusters of Pixar and Dreamworks: "It's the tender story of a leech's search for his missing son. I'm calling it Finding Hemo. The success of FoxTrot has yielded consequences creator Bill Amend may never have imagined. The strip has been used as a question on the game show Jeopardy! and as an answer in the New York Times crossword. It's a fitting irony that FoxTrot has become a fixture of pop culture, the very phenomenon it parodies with such keen wit.

Jason Fox rules . . . his computer code, at calc and trig, and in whatever fantasy he happens to be headlining at the moment. Book Description

Realism lends humor and relevance to the story lines enacted by bernerd Jason Fox and his family in the enormously successful syndicated comic strip FoxTrot. Unafraid to tackle timely topics of the day, FoxTrot finds wry humor in such issues as SARS, video game violence, boy bands, Internet music piracy, and a multitude of pop culture themes. In fact, FoxTrot is so inextricably intertwined with pop culture that creator Bill Amend was interviewed in the premiere issue of The Lord of the Rings Fan Club Official Movie Magazine, thanks to a series of strips about Jason's fanatical excitement over the movie trilogy. And not only does FoxTrot incorporate pop culture into its story lines, the strip has actually become a pop culture icon: It has been used as a question on the game show Jeopardy! and as an answer in the New York Times crossword.Am I a Mutant, or What! is the newest FoxTrot collection, featuring strips that ran from late 2002 through mid 2003. Amply documented as a favorite with readers, FoxTrot runs in more than 1,000 newspapers, and previous FoxTrot books have sold more than two million copies. ... Read more

Any Foxtrot book is worth the money. You can't go wrong with any of them.

5-0 out of 5 stars LOVE, LOVE that Fox Trot
OK, it is a little sad that I give a comic strip a 5 star rating.

But, Fox Trot is just so wonderful. This comic strip is tender, funny and absolutely wonderful.

My one complaint: These mini-books are NEVER long enough. Bring back the treasury type books - please....

5-0 out of 5 stars The Humor Never Ends
Fox Trot is the funniest book I have ever read. It incorporates everything that everyone loves. I would rate every book a 10 before even reading it. In fact, I inhale the books.

    Book Description

Bill Amend does it better than anybody else. His ability to present middle-class family life in a way that's consistently fresh, irreverent, and downright wacky is unsurpassed. If asked'and they are each day they open the more than 1,000 newspapers that carry his strip'Amend's audience of 25 million readers would say the same thing. That committed and connected audience will be delighted once again to discover Who's Up for Some Bonding', the latest in a series that includes 18 previous collections and eight treasuries, amounting to nearly two million FoxTrot books in circulation. This time around, Amend's antics with the Fox family include the artist's invitingly skewed views of 'normal' life: children who are light-years ahead of their parents when it comes to computers, siblings who could teach the CIA a thing or two about covert and 'get-even' ops, and parents who stumble around in a slight daze as they deal with all the 'amenities' of the modern world.Jason, Peter, Paige, and their parents, Roger and Andy, deliver the laughs. They all bring their unique personalities and perspectives to the FoxTrot world, whether the subject is technology, tofu recipes . . . or a son convinced he could be the next zillionaire Martha Stewart. FoxTrot surprises. FoxTrot charms. FoxTrot always satisfies.

5-0 out of 5 stars Bill Amend does it again!
Bill Amend cranks out another collection of comic strips featuring the family that put the "fun" in disfunctional. There is hardly a bad strip or a storyline in the whole run of this series, that pokes fun at popular culture, media, and the finer points of life.

Some of the high points of the book:

Peter dog-sits for Fauntleroy - again - and the tiny terror drives him nuts - again.

Jason prepares for the "Spider-Man" movie, but his homemade web-shooter keeps backfiring.

Jason shines as usual on Halloween week.

Peter reads "The Odyssey" for class and has a nightmare of epic proportions.

Any strip dealing with the iFruit (the family's obnoxious computer).

Don't miss this hilarious collection - it'll go fast.

5-0 out of 5 stars The best comic out there
Foxtrot being one of the funniest syndicated comics available today (this might be arguable for some, depending on your standard for humor), you'll definitely want this comic book. This book is shorter than most of the others, the anthologies as they are called, but still chock full of loads of laughs. The book is 128 pages long, and is probably one of the more recent published form of the Foxtrot cartoon strip by Bill Amend.

Included is the sage of Jason's Spider-Man movie anticipation, or "When web shooters go bad", as well as the Star Wars II wait. You'll also laugh as Jason prepares to take over Martha Stewart's million dollar empire, and goes camping with the rest of the family.

Bottom line, I get genuinely concerned when/if I don't understand the humor in a Foxtrot comic, or if I fail to smile or laugh, and I'm quite positive you'll enjoy this book at least as much as I did. That's how good this comic strip is. Yes, there are reused jokes...but to anyone who might complain about them, you have to remember that SOMETHING kept them reading long enough to discover reused jokes!

5-0 out of 5 stars More excellent work by Amend
Amend never ceases to amaze me. Each strip is as good or better than the previous. I highly recommend this book, as Amend is once again in great form.

5-0 out of 5 stars Perhaps his best!
I bought this book yesterday and I just love it! The main reasonis because it has perhaps two of my favorite comic strips(They are on Pages 100 and 128.) This is a great collection of the Fox familie's everyday adventures. Can't wait for the next one.

5-0 out of 5 stars Very good book, despite off reviews
Bill Amend continues to produce high-quality comics, as evidenced here. These comics are very funny, and I personally enjoy having the focus shifted off Paige a little more now. As for the reviewer who said they hate it because they have not bought it, I don't see how that review made it past Amazon editors. It has absolutely no relevance whatsoever. Anyhow, this is one heck of a great book. ... Read more

    Book Description

One of America's most treasured comic strips is releasing its eighth treasury, FoxTrot: Assembled with Care. And eight most assuredly will not be enough for fans of the funny pages.Bill Amend's FoxTrot debuted April 10, 1988, and 14 years later it's undisputedly among the most popular strips in newspapers. This colorful compilation of cartoons from FoxTrot's last two years again demonstrates that few entertainers in any medium are better at finding humor in everyday family life than Amend. At the core of much of the strip's wild humor is 10-year-old Jason. He tortures his parents and two teenage siblings Peter and Paige out of their minds with his computer and his pet iguana, Quincy. In this latest treasury, parents Roger and Andrea again have their hands full.In one strip, Jason boldly bursts into their bedroom in the middle of the night to announce that it's "2 a.m. and the lights still work." In another, Jason surprises his mom with a new beep for her computer known simply as "Defcon One." Jason also holds his own with his older siblings, spelling "My Sister Is Ugly" with the carved faces of 14 pumpkins. As FoxTrot surpasses the two million mark in book sales, it continues to demonstrate its timelessness with its always fresh, irreverent, and zany brand of family humor.Like other successful FoxTrot books before it, FoxTrot: Assembled with Care captures the humorous side of the trials and tribulations that come with daily family life like no other strip today. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars More Foxtrot Fun!
I like to read Foxtrot because of it's fresh appeal and it is continually funny. Bill Ammend's latest compilation, FoxTrot: Assembled with Care, is no exception.First of all, note that this is a Foxtrot Anthology collection. So, in other words, all the comic strips in this book have appeared in their own separate books. The books that this collection is made up of are: Death by Field Trip, Encyclopedias Brown and White, and His Code Name Was The Fox.This book is the first of the Foxtrot Anthologies to follow a new format. Instead of the standard 3 strips on a page and full-page Sunday strips, all the strips in this book have been crammed in together to fit four on a page. This doesn't bother me too much, except for the fact that each line is slightly smaller. At 191 pages, this book is shorter than previous Foxtrot Anthologies; however, because of the new format, it actually has more strips included for the same cover price. It is the first Foxtrot Anthology to be made up of 3 books instead of the usual 2.All these reasons make this an excellent book and an absolutely necesary purchase for any Foxtrot fan!

5-0 out of 5 stars "This rope should be made of Elven Hithlain, by the way."
FoxTrot anthologies never cease to amaze me. I have a lot of the books separately, but these big collections are the best for when you want to read a lot without having to bring so many books with you. And plus, some of the strips are in color as well! "FoxTrot: Assemble with Care" is a great collection that is bound to get laughs from just about anyone.

This anthology includes strips from the books "Death by Field Trip," "Encyclopedias Brown and White," and "His Code Name was The Fox." All three are hilarious and make this collection worth every penny. You will follow the crazy chaos that visits the Fox Family. Just when you think Bill Amend can't do any better, he does every single time. This collection is 191 pages of non-stop hilarity.

You will see extremely funny strips, such as:
    *Jason's field trip*
    *Andy's mother visits*
    *Jason's new Grinch cartoon*
    *Moron of the Rings*
    *Peter's cell phone*
    *E-Team Football*
    *Roger's novel*
    *Jason's new playmate*
*Roger and Peter go grocery shopping*
    and much, MUCH more!

"FoxTrot: Assemble with Care" is an outstanding anthology collection that will keep you entertained for hours. If you've been feeling down and are due for a few laughs, think about picking up this bad boy and let the pages fly. You will not be disappointed.

5-0 out of 5 stars The Best Comic Strip Since Calvin and Hobbes.
First Bill Watterson retired and there was no more new Calvin and Hobbes. Then Charles Scultz retired and unexpectedly passed away, so many newspapers stopped running Peantus. At first it would seem there isn't anything all that funny left in the funny papers. Ah, but one grand gem remains: Fox Trot. Appearing about half a decade before the funnies started to become unfunny, Fox Trot remains as about the only witty and upbeat comic that can be seen in papers. ASSEMBLED WITH CARE is a collection of two-year's worth of Fox Trot comics. I'm not for sure of the exact dates, but the strips ran around 1999-2000. The stories make grand observations on life, but are also constantly ribbing pop culture and (then) current events. Two of my favorite story lines are the one where Jason and Marcus imagine themselves acting in the just announced production of THE LORD OF THE RINGS (the director looks like a hybrid between Steven Spielberg and Peter Jackson) and the series that ran the week that Y2K could have happened (the comic strip finds itself back in 1900). A great collection of one of the best comic strips still being written.

5-0 out of 5 stars A great read
It's a funny book and all but there is just one thing - not just about this foxtrot series but all of them - it's that fox family always stay the same, no one ever grows up. Paige is always starting her first year in high school, peter is always staying a junior and taking a physics and trig class and jason is being jason as usual. Although maybe I'm wrong, maybe if they did grow up the show wouldnt be funny anymore...I dont know but it's still funny though. BUY THIS BOOK!!! IT'S FUNNY reaaaaaaly funny.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Book!

    Book Description

Whether they're starting high school for the first time, devising their own Winter Olympics, or working out ways to foil their parents, the three Fox kids never fail to create pandemonium. Since FoxTrot hit syndication in 1988, the strip has rewarded its millions of faithful readers with daily doses of family fun.Now established as one of America's most popular comic strips, FoxTrot cleverly conveys the identifiably goofy goings-on in this crazy household. At the core of much of the strip's wild humor is whiz kid Jason, age 10, who tortures his parents, Roger and Andy, and two teenage siblings, Peter and Paige, with his computer skills and his pet Iguana, Quincy. One strip in FoxTrot's newest collection, Your Momma Thinks Square Roots Are Vegetables, illustrates the family dynamics especially well: When Peter makes a racy call to girlfriend Denise on his cell phone, he's shocked to find out he's actually dialed his mother. As he enters the living room, Jason not-so-innocently says, "Oh, dear. Did someone reprogram your speed-dial list again?"Day after day, FoxTrot continues to deliver fresh, irreverent, and wacky humor. You're Momma Thinks Square Roots Are Vegetables continues the tradition with its look at family life through the eyes of Bill Amend. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars "... a breath of optimism for my day..."
... these characters are so easy to identify with that everyone should read FoxTrot... I look foward to FoxTrot to make me laugh when life gets too serious (and we all know life gets too serious sometimes!)... I congratulate this author on developing such simple yet dependable characters that I can see a little bit of each one in myself... this book will make anyone a FoxTrot fan and should be appreciated just for the title... one of the most clever I have ever seen...

5-0 out of 5 stars POSSIBLY THE BEST COMIC STRIP SINCE CALVIN AND HOBBES
This strip is very, very funny. I agree with almost everyone about the strip on page 103 it's sooo funny, but you have to read it to find out what it's about. This comic strip has a perfect set of chaotic charachters, and it's definitely worth reading. I have already converted 3 people at my High School into Foxtrot fans because it's really funny. There are larger collections if you are just getting started reading foxtrot i'd recommend that but if you have the books, then this one's definitely worth buying too.

5-0 out of 5 stars funnie funnie
The title already cracked me up. i love foxtrot and am in love with each and every charactor. Everytime a new book comes out it adds to my collection. I'm 17 so i can realate to most of the characters too...

5-0 out of 5 stars How does he do it?
Yet another hilarious work by Bill Amend. I started reading his strip when Calvin & Hobbes was in its final year, and have been hooked ever since. His strips are original and timeless, and bear multiple re-readings. Whenever I need to unwind from a long day, I pick up one of his collections and lose myself in the world of Foxtrot. Definitely better (and cheaper!) than Scotch, and the jokes likewise get better with age....

5-0 out of 5 stars Fox Trot! What can I say?
This is yet another continuation of a great comic strip. Possibly the best one out there right now save for Dilbert.

If you want color Sunday strips, wait for the larger compilations. Otherwise, this is one collection worth having. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Lots of laughs for anyone
Bill Amend's Foxtrot has to be the funniest comic strip since Calvin and Hobbes retired. I can count on one hand the Foxtrot comic strips that have failed to make me laugh...every one of them is funny. If you have a funny bone, you should tickle it by buying this book...and checking into other Foxtrot books.

For the parents: Being a teen myself, I thought I'd stick a note in case there are any parents out there, getting this for kids. Amend is somewhat disappointing on occasion. Example, in one comic, Peter Fox has a dream of making out with two Sports Illustrated models, who are in (cartoon, of course) skimpy suits. The two suggest they take the suits off, but Peter is awakened in the next panel. Kind of an appeal to the carnal side, but I try to ignore it. Most of the rest of the strips are just fine.

5-0 out of 5 stars Definitely the best Foxtrot book yet.
Well, Bill Amend has done it again. The wild humor of a 10-year-old torturing his siblings and his parents out of their minds with his computer and his iguana, Quincy. I especially like the way that Jason makes fun of his sister using his own web page, that links you to the Columbus Zoo's Chimp facility after telling you that her picture is next. Of course, Jason's Christmas list every year is always a good laugh as well.

In conclusion, Bill Amend is a total genius and I hope that he continues to draw Foxtrot for many years to come.

5-0 out of 5 stars FOXTROT RULES!
This book is awesome! This is a A+, 100%, 5 star, simply amazing book! Bill Amend is clearly one of the best cartoonists of our time, right up there with Charles Schulz, Jim Davis, and Scott Adams.

5-0 out of 5 stars I enjoy all of Amend's collections - no exception here.
I have always found Foxtrot a wonderful evening read. This collection is another great way to go to sleep with a smile on your face.

5-0 out of 5 stars The best comic strip left in today's newspapers
With "Peanuts," "Calvin and Hobbes" and now even "Liberty Meadows" gone from the pages of America's newspapers (at least in new form), it's time for me to select a new favorite daily comic strip. Fortunately, Bill Amend's "FoxTrot" has long been in my top-five list -- it's just being moved to the head of the line.

"FoxTrot" is one of the few strips left that can be funny without being syrupy, hasn't been rehashing the same old jokes for decades and doesn't politicize to such an extent that you wish it would be moved to the editorial page. In five main characters, Amend has an almost infinite number of story possibilities -- the health nut mom, the doofus dad, sports-crazed Peter, boy-crazed Paige and the frightening boy genius Jason.

Jason is easily my favorite character, and I suspect Amend created him as an outlet for his own inner geek. Strips like Jason's preparations for the new "Star Trek" movie or the one where he demands a refund for a comic book due to a piddling continuity error are the sort of things that only a real Trekker or comic reader could draw with such affection.

I've got all but two of the FoxTrot anthologies and I plan to own them all in short order -- but this is my favorite because the strips in here chronicle the period where my local newspaper started to carry it. These are the strips that first introduced me to the Fox family. I still look for them every morning. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Really, Really, FUNNY!
This book is really funny. The characters have real personalities, and even the parents play big roles, unlike some strips. "Foxtrot" follows in the footsteps of "For Better or For Worse" and "Calvin and Hobbes", each character with distinct personality, and not everybody is beautiful, popular, and perfect, as people in some comics are, like "Archie". I definitly recommend this book to anyone who wants a good laugh.

5-0 out of 5 stars The best
Foxtrot being one of the funniest syndicated comics available today (this might be arguable for some, depending on your standard for humor), you'll definitely want this comic book. It is chock full of 250 pages of the popular strip by Bill Amend, and, with very few exceptions, you'll laugh at every strip.

The actual "camp" doesn't happen until somewhere near the middle of the book, where brainy Jason and his friend Marcus go to Geek Camp for the summer, just to let you know, but you won't mind, I promise.

There is a delightful little bonus kindly provided by the author at the end ("My publisher tells me I have six blank pages to fill") which documents the path that Amend started down in order to become the success he is today. Amend takes six pages to discuss how he creates the strips (does he draw them, or think up the plotline first?) and how he submits and is hired out to do them regularly (so what exactly is the running salary for a cartoonist these days anyway?) with tips on how a person with talent can attempt to do the same.

I get genuinely concerned when/if I don't understand the humor in a Foxtrot comic, or if I fail to smile or laugh. That's how good this comic strip is. Yes, there are reused jokes...but to anyone who might complain about them, you have to remember that SOMETHING kept them reading long enough to notice reused jokes!

5-0 out of 5 stars Amend never disappoints...
And you are assured to enjoy this collection as well. All three kids as well as the parents are given equal attention and "strip space" in this book.

5-0 out of 5 stars Funny
Foxtrot is great, it never fails. That's all there is to it.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Read
Though most comics today use the same joke over and over, which wasnt a very good joke in the first place, FoxTrot strays away from the heard. With witty jokes and great story lines, this is probably the best comic strip running today. And, unlike many strips, it has emotion in the characters which adds another dimension to it.

This book just adds to the collection of great books for a great comic strip.

    Highly Recommended. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars This Family is Definitely Fruity
Admit it. We all have one or more family members that resemble the characters in the FoxTrot comic strip. Whether it's the tofu cooking mom, the morning-coffee addicted dad, the hollow leg older son, the self-absorbed daughter, or the geeky younger son, every family can relate.

"Think iFruity" is a collection of daily and Sunday FoxTrot comic strips. It starts with the dad, Roger, buying a Mobycom-2000 cell phone (think Titanic), and ends with Peter being disappointed with his Physics Lab. In between, the family gets their new "iFruit" computer (mango-kiwi, thank you), Roger goes a day without coffee (not a pretty sight), Paige fills her aquarium before taking it upstairs, and Jason kills off the Internet (makes the "I Love You" virus look like the sniffles).

5-0 out of 5 stars Genius as Usual
What can I say? If you are a Bill Amend fan like me, this book is another great Foxtrot book. If you are new to Amend's work, get this book. It's hilarious. Jason goes through a warped version of "A Christmas Carol," Roger quits his job- temporarily, Andy buys "banana-orange CD burners" because of their cuteness, and the fox family generally continues its perpetual trip through hilarity. A hilarious and heartwarming book-as usual. Amend never fails to deliver.

5-0 out of 5 stars "These aren't Beanie Babies, Mom...!"
The fun and hilarity never ends with the Fox Family. There's always some kind of chaos or mayhem going on--mainly created by the youngest, Jason Fox. If there hasn't been a problem that has confronted the Fox Family, just wait. They're always having to deal with a crisis that leads to hilarious results.

"Think iFruity" is yet another fabulous FoxTrot collection that is 127 pages of fun-filled comic antics from Roger (the father), Andy (the wife), Peter (the oldest son), Paige (the daughter), and Jason (the youngest son who has a pet iguana). One of the main story points that surrounds this collection is when the family must buy a new computer, and to Jason's absolute horror it is an "iFruity." How will the family cope with the change? Will Jason lose his mind and trash the computer himself? You'll have to wait and see what happens.

Other funny scenarios included in this fine collection:

    *Roger's "Mobycom-2000"*
    *Jasonezer Scrooge*
*Paige Defeats the Red Orb Guardian*
    *Giving Up Coffee*
*Peter's Summer Gig ("Star Wars" Phobia)*
    *The Paige Witch Project*
*Roger Quits Work (A Classic "Fox" Saga)*
    ...and more!

Bill Amend has never failed to get more than a few laughs out of me with his funny characters. The strips are topical, witty, clever and downright hilarious. He never runs out of ideas or storylines, and he always uses his characters to their full potential. This collection is just as funny as the previous ones, if not more. I am never bored when reading FoxTrot, and I was never bored during my reading of this particular collection. A job well done on all fronts.

"Think iFruity" is another hilarious FoxTrot chapter that definitely needs to be a part of your FoxTrot collection. And if you have not read FoxTrot, the more reason to check this out! If you're looking for an entertaining read that won't take up a lot of your time, this FoxTrot collection is just the fix for you. A great read that will have you laughing from the start. -Michael Crane

5-0 out of 5 stars Is It Good? Duh!
You see the list on the side, and obviously, I am a FoxTrot fanatic & own all of the books. Just why would I own something that is dumb? Besides, if you haven't heard of FoxTrot, you either: don't look at the newspaper, or haven't visited the bookstore in about a year.

Among all of the halarious one-day strips, outrageous series include:
    -Moby 2000
    -Thanksgiving
    -Jasoneezer Scrooge
    -Christmas
    -Jasonzonbayhoodotcom
    -Paige vs. Red Orb Guardian
    -Babysitting
    -Baseball's suprising spectators
    -Where's the coffee???
    -Summer Dayz
-To Boonhurst...To the hospital...To Wall Street

5-0 out of 5 stars Jolly good book
Bill Amend writes the most witty and inteligent comics. This book is truly one of the most significant in the entire universe. These comics are not only funny, they are so carefully drawn; unlike a lot of other comics. I am a daily reader of the Foxtrot comic strip and I can say without hesitation that the comic is rarely dull. If you value inteligent comics like I apparently do, then you will miss out if you do not perchase this comic collection. BABY OH BABY I LOVES IT!!!!!! ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars THIS IS A GREAT BOOK! THE BEST OF FOXTROT!
This is a great book. I highly recommend it! One of the funniest books I've read. Bill Amend is definitely at his best! The book includes the summer camp series and the Tamagrouchy series! Enjoy this book!!!!!

5-0 out of 5 stars It is very funny
I thought that Jasorassic Park was a great book and one of the better foxtrot collections. The whole fox family shows how they could make others in the family miserable.

Of course their's Quincy and Marcus, but Jason is probably the head of this collection. Well just look at the title.

Bill Amend does a very good job at this. I've got to say out of all the foxtrot collections I've read (that is all of them) this ranks in the top three (out of 12).

You won't be disappointed if you buy Welcome to Jasorassic Park.

4-0 out of 5 stars Very funny, but recycled
As with all the other FoxTrot books, this one is hilarious. However, everything in this book has appeared before in other books. Had I known that, I would not have bought it. If you don't already have most of Bill Amend's other books, this is a good one to get. If you have many other FoxTrot books, expect everything in this book to look familiar.

1-0 out of 5 stars STINKY, STUPID STEREOTYPES
Stinky Jason does it again. The nasty thing is just a stereotype -- glasses = brains. (Incorrect equation, but a tired old chestnut that still has withstood the test of time in the funnies). Bubbleheaded sister Paige who has a makeup mirror for a brain and a blue collar big brother. Every stereotype is revisited in this collection. Jaason and his stereotypical siblings should be as extinct as the dinosaurs. The Foxtrot characters all have oven mitt shaped heads. These mitten heads live up to their tired stereotypes in this collection.

5-0 out of 5 stars Return of the Foxes!
The Foxes are back in yet another comical laugh-fest! You'll have a laughing good time! Buy this and other Fox Trot books for more fun than you'll have in a funulator! ... Read more

Oh, my lord this is like the greatest Foxtrot ever written. The Strips are so cool and the stories are soooooooooooo funny espesialy when Roger smokes a cigar and Paige writes a ghost story. Truely, very fuuny

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent! Excellent! Excellent!
The whole families hilarious interaction with eachother reflects on this book which in my humble opinion, the greatest comic of all time. I really enjoy this book and all of Foxtrot's books. The whole family has there own pet peeves and favorites and they are all very distinctive and hilarious. Foxtrot is pure humor!

5-0 out of 5 stars A wonderfully funny read!
This is a great book to give to someone as a gift to introduce them to the humor of Foxtrot. It is wonderfully funny and engrossing: you will have finished it before you realize it!

4-0 out of 5 stars Costs too much

5-0 out of 5 stars One of the best FoxTrot collections!
Of all of the previous FoxTrot collections by Bill Amend, I would have to say "At Least This Place Sells T-Shirts" is the shining star. This collection brings together some of the best and most well known strips starring the Fox's. Including The series of strips dealing with the trip to Fun-Fun Universe, the strips where Jason meets Eileen Jacobson, the series where Paige save Quincy from almost dying from choking on one of her shoelaces. Also the strips where Peter takes care of Fauntleroy, a neighbor's dog, and the strips where Peter gets his head shaved. 5-0 out of 5 stars Fox Blast From The Past
I bought this book quite some time ago, and still read it every so often! Very few comics -- actually only one other (The Far Side) can make me REGULARLY laugh out loud as often as Bill Amends' Fox Trot does. How he has come up with such regularly hilarity for over a dozen years is beyond me, but here it is in black and white (and some color). Some of them are so funny, that I even laugh outloud the second time I read them!

5-0 out of 5 stars Foxtrot is the Greatest!
This is a comic strip that I could read over and over and still get a kick out of. I have read all the books and they are all great. Bill Amend is a very talented at this game, and I can't wait for the next book! I thoroughly suggest these books; everyone that I've suggested them to gets hooked on them too!

5-0 out of 5 stars Foxtrot is the best.
This book brings the "funny". after the recent end of the Peanuts cartoon and the steady decline of Garfield I believe that Foxtrot should become the new "hit" comic. this comic brings everyday life of the american family and puts a terrific funny spin on it. well it's up to you to read this book but if you do you will be laughing for hours and that goes for all the other books as well. ... 1-0 out of 5 stars aaron
don't ever write online book reviews for comic strip books. starting today.

4-0 out of 5 stars In 1988, the Comic Strip Was Given Something Different
Bill Amend's FoxTrot is one of those comic strips whose greatness may have seemed a little too unassuming early on. After all, the strip simply described the ups and downs of a suburban family, nothing more, nothing less. But yet, as this first collection of strips prove, FoxTrot was not just another fun little strip about a stereotype family- the Fox clan here was anything but stereotypes, actually, as Amend wisely decided to give each family member a distinct identity rather than just throw them in situations with humor potential, like many other strips tend to do.

Even though Amend would later develop a formula for the cartoon that was probably just a bit too predictable, here there are little indications of a formula, even if the characters would hardly change over the next fifteen years. Roger was the father/husband and the breadmaker of the group, and he had a small tendency to make a fool of himself (check out the set of strips where he attempts to lead a laptop computer seminar, yet he doesn't even know how to turn a computer on). Andy (short for Andrea) was the mother/housewife of the clan, and while she made sure Roger and the children were kept in place, she was still not the ideal parent; for instance, she was often unable to motivate herself when on her own. Peter, the older son/brother, was a high school junior who had virtually no luck finding a date, let alone a girlfriend (surprised? Well, this scenario changes by the end of the book). Paige, the lone daughter/sister, was a high school freshman who, like Peter, also had little hope of finding a date, and was often picked on by younger brother Jason. Fifth-grader Jason was decidedly the nerd of the bunch, as he would practically die without a computer, but could live happily ever after without athletic sports and girls.

And as for the strips themselves? Well, as far as this set goes, they remain fresh for the most part- perhaps a little naive every now and then, but consistently funny from start to finish. Some fans may be a little surprised that the drawings are a little raw and unpolished, but such a complaint is irrelevant when the strips are funny. That's why any diehard fan of FoxTrot should consider having this book in their FoxTrot memorabilia, as it clearly depicts the origins of some of the most memorable characters in the history of the comic strip.

5-0 out of 5 stars FoxTrot Still Good In Early Years
On April 10, 1988.... I wasn't alive, yet, more importanly, FoxTrot first was printed in newspapers. A phenom that will hopefully live on for many more years

    On with the review:
Bill Amend's first book is a truely awesome work of "art" coming from the brain of a physics major. Unlike the early years of Garfield, (or "classic" Heathcliff) the number of cheap laughs in this book is reduced to single digits.

There, not-so-suprisingly, are very huge artistic contrasts in the FoxTrot comics between now and 1988. There is even a change of drawing styles even inside this book, containing the first 10-11 months of FoxTrot cartoons.

Even way back then, Amend (rhymes with "Raymond") still had a creative mind. In one Sunday cartoon, Roger was reading the Sunday comics; and on that fictional newspaper was the first panel of the cartoon that you were reading.
In Paige's room, there was a picture of a unicorn with a little a little fairy on the ground. In the last panel...the unicorn ate the fairy!!!

While Paige was at the dance, you could see the different things going on in the background.
In the Fox household, there is ususally pictures of pieces of fruit, in some cartoons, the fruit, rotates, changes, or even gets eaten!

Aside from all of the stupid little things, this is a wonderfully compiled book of laughs, and Amend's creativity will force you to smile. A must have!!

5-0 out of 5 stars my girlfriend told me to stop laughing!
This Foxtort book is great! It is hilarious even from the first strip! Don't know much else to say except my girlfriend kept looking at me because I couldn't stop laughing!

5-0 out of 5 stars Either it's funny or it's downright hilarious
There is no such thing as mediocre humor in the world of Fox Trot. If I do one thing every day, it's read this strip (Thank God for MSNBC Comics!). The interesting thing about this particular collection of Fox Trot strips is that it is the first. Therefore, it is interesting to see early physical forms of all the characters and compare those with how they look today. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars "The Lone Iguana says don't touch that dial..."
Feeling a little down? Having a hard time laughing? Well, FoxTrot will cure you of that in no time! After all of these years, this comic strip is still able to make me laugh, make me smile and make me forget about my problems, even if it's just for a little bit. "The Return of the Lone Iguana" is a hilarious collection of FoxTrot strips that will have you laughing over and over again. With 128 pages filled with FoxTrot hilarity, this is a collection that will not disappoint.

Everything is fair game in the Fox Family. Jason continues to drive his sister insane with his various toy weapons and pet iguana. Peter is still doing essays at the last minute (literally!) and is driving his parents nuts with his loud music. And of course, Andy has to put up with her husband's stupidity and insanity. Yes, it is an ordinary day for the Fox Family.

In addition to the triumphant return (return?) of the Lone Iguana, you'll also get:

    *Paige's mall trip with Peter*

    *Jason's new internet*
    *Peter's sick day from school*
    *Jason's "The Far Side II"*
    *Halloween with the Fox Family*
    *Paige in a play*
    *Thanksgiving: the meal of horrors*

    and a whole lot more!

"The Return of the Lone Iguana" is a hilarious FoxTrot collection that does not disappoint for a single second. If you're a fan of the comic strip, then I highly recommend checking it out. If you have never read FoxTrot before... the more reason to check it out!

4-0 out of 5 stars Zesty!
I've always been a good fan of foxtrot, so I found this book quite good. Its kinda short though, and you finish it in about a half-hour to an hour. If you like long books, this wouldn't be to fun for you.

5-0 out of 5 stars Fox Trot Rules!
I have to admit, when I first got this book, I was disapointed. I didn't know it was old school Fox Trot. In the early days, Fox Trot wasn't drawn exactly the same as it curently is. And I really didn't care for the artwork. but I kept reading. And I soon forgot about the art work, and realized that this book was wicked funny. Really, Fox Trot is the best comic strip around. And this shows that it was good even from the early 90's

5-0 out of 5 stars An excellent humor collection

4-0 out of 5 stars Assorted Foxtrot
I have pretty much all of the Foxtrot collections, and I am pretty much a big fan. This is another good collection which has good color, organization, and accurately represents the Foxtrot strip. However, this book does not offer anything extra. In one book, there was a full length "Slugman" comic book, and it would be nice to have something like that. You'd probably want to read this if you are a huge fan and missed a lot or if you just want to have a book that you can read and laugh with. Nothing serious, just fun.

5-0 out of 5 stars Foxtrot....not your average simple strip....
Foxtrot, Bill Amend's comic strip about a suburban family of 5, isn't your average Calvin and Hobbes or Garfield. In this strip, Amend uses computer terminology to set his jokes that others may not get. (For example, he uses a lot of hardware terms, and when using the iMac as "iFruit", the computer says.."Welcome to iFruity, hug me." And the mother hugs it and the son says "iThink iWill bSick") Overall, this collection gives you the newest strips and lot of suburban semi-dysfunctional family fun. I would recommend any of the foxtrot collections!!

5-0 out of 5 stars The Fox is on Fire!
Anytime you add, Andy seeing Titanic, Jason's Star Wars Episode 1 anticipation, A hilarious Christmas Carol, and the first buying of an IFruity computer you will end up with a great, great book!

5-0 out of 5 stars Amend never disappoints...
Again, another enjoyable read from Bill Amend. Great to sit down with on a rainy day (and it's hurricane season here in FL, so we've had some good rainy days of late)for some good, long laughs. You can't go wrong with ANY Bill Amend, and this collection is no exception.

5-0 out of 5 stars Hilarious, as always
Bill Amend writes great comics and this book combines a lot of them. This book is funny inside and out (the cover, especially the back cover, made me laugh). Some really good strips in "Assorted Foxtrot" are:
    Bitty Babies
    Titanic
    iFruity
Those were my favorites, but the entire book is hiliarious. I highly recommend buying it. Give lil' ol' Foxtrot a chance and you'll be hooked! ... Read more
