Book Description

Everyone can relate to having a family member with an unusual hobby or habit. The Fox clan is no different. The youngest Fox is Jason, whose best friend is an iguana named Quincy. His sister, Paige, is a shopaholic. The oldest Fox sibling is Peter, whose stomach is a bottomless pit. But perhaps the most unusual of all is level-headed mom and official family mediator, Andy, who is working through her obsession with the movie Titanic. A slave to her emotions, she is brought to tears at a mere hint of the soundtrack and attends multiple movie screenings each day. This leaves well-meaning husband, Roger, struggling to live up to her new romantic expectations. All of this is par for the course in the hilarious but hectic Fox household. What makes the Fox clan so entertaining' They're just like us-only funnier-with no sappy sentimentality. Readers can't help but recognize a little bit of themselves in this family strip with its good-hearted, if not eccentric, characters. The Foxes deal with everything from sibling rivalry to marital disagreements over golfing habits to sharing time on the computer, always making us laugh in the process. FoxTrot has amassed a colossal audience of fans of all ages who eagerly turn to this hilarious strip each day, whether in newspapers or on the Web. 5-0 out of 5 stars I'm laughing, Jack! I mean, Roger.
This book is soooo hilarious! The "Titanic"-themed strips are really good, but my favorites are probably the ones about Jason's nightmare encounter with Lara Croft of "Tomb Raider" fame. A few other good cartoons: Andy's mutant zucchini (sp?) crop, (Man, can I indentify with that! I haven't touched one of those things in over a year, when MY garden went beserk with 'em. If I never see one again, it'll be too soon!) Paige and her uncaring biology teacher, Peter's obsession with summer football training, and Roger's inabilty to watch football at Super Bowl week, due to Jason's playing of "Duke Quackem" on his "Jupiter 64". In this story, Rog tries to hurridly get Jason a memory cartridge to save his game, but gets him a "Rambo Pack" instead. Any video-game-system-literate person will find this series of strips hysterically funny! Great book, Mr. Amend! Keep 'em coming!

5-0 out of 5 stars LOOK AT MY LIST, OF COURSE ITS GOOD!!
Needless to say, this FoxTrot comic book is very funny. Needless to say, if you are a fan of comic strips of any kind, I would quickly usher a large amount of FoxTrot books your way.

The outrageous series in this book include:
-Sportschatter vs. Duke Nukem
-Titanic Craze
-Valentine's Day
-Power shut-out
-gotee magic
-finals week (always a FoxTrot staple)
-BittyBaby Craze
-X-Men the movie
-Jasondows98
-Football training
-mutant zucchini
-Tomb Raider 2
-Babysitting (for Mrs. O'Dell)
-Airguana
-First day of school clothes
-The 97-panel comic
-How to promote your comic
-Wind essay
-POST-Halloween craze

Now, you SHOULD just be imagining in your head right now the funny twist that Bill Amend puts on these. If not, well, you should!!!

Great job Bill Amend, you rock!!!!

If you don't think that getting 369 good laughs for 10 bucks is a good deal, don't buy this.

5-0 out of 5 stars Fox Trot on....Again!
Great book! One of the best, actually. As I said in my other Fox Trot review, I just can't get enough! I dread the day Bill Amend decides to retire. May that day never, ever come!

This book is must for your collection!

5-0 out of 5 stars Very timely, but very funny
I have always enjoyed the Foxtrot series, and this collection is a wonderful addition. The strips are very timely, so the pure bite might have faded a bit -- for example, references to Tomb Raider and Titanic seem a little outdated now -- but they still have the power to make me laugh out loud. Seeing Andy surrounded by Kleenex and sobbing because "My Heart Will Go On" is on the radio still makes me crack up!

Another winner from Bill Amend. Enjoy!

5-0 out of 5 stars Loved It!
I get so engrossed in all foxtrot books, but I think this one defenitly topped my list. It was hysterical from cover to back. Keep up the good work!

4-0 out of 5 stars Pretty darn good!
I liked this book, especially because you went in to Jason and his iguana, Quincy. I think that when they harass Paige, the way she gets back at them is hysterical. Thanks for all the books, please make more, and keep the good work up. ~Brittany~

5-0 out of 5 stars EXELLENT!!!!!!!!

5-0 out of 5 stars I Loved This Book!
This book, Bury my Heart at Fun-Fun Mountain, is a really cool book written by Bill Amend with more adventures of the hilarious Foxtrot crew. My favourite thing about the book was the cover. It was amazing. I also loved the actual Fun-Fun Mountain cartoons. I'd recommend this book to anybody who likes amusement parks or Foxtrot cartoons. ... Read more

In this third collection of Fox Trot comic strips, Roger and Andy (the parents), Paige, Peter and Jason once again show us the humorous side of everyday life. Includes stories about Peter going through a teenage breakup, Paige trying to find a date for the prom and the family buying a computer.Hands down, the funniest part is when the computer salesman suggests that, for an additional price, they upgrade the new computer to a 40-meg hard drive and 4 megs of RAM. Well, after all, it was 1991. ... Read more

Book Description

FoxTrot cartoonist Bill Amend once again proves his knack for finding humor in everyday family life with his latest collection, Encyclopedias Brown and White. Not that any more proof needs to be offered. After all, more than 1,000 newspapers worldwide publish FoxTrot, and there are over two million copies of the strip's books in circulation. Encyclopedias Brown and White is the latest saga of the funny and frantic Fox family-composed of parents Roger and Andy, their two ego-centric teenagers Peter and Paige, 10-year old brainiac Jason, and pet iguana Quincy. The title plot finds Jason and Marcus donning detective hats in order to track down Phoebe's missing camp journal and clear their names. Wading through its funny 128 pages, long-time and new readers alike will gain a full appreciation for why fans have been raving about the strip for years.

5-0 out of 5 stars Just how I remember it!
I've been a fan of Fox Trot since Peter Fox and I were both the same age...and that was a while ago...What is great about this comic strip is that the humor comes from the relationships the characters have with each other. Also, although obviously amplified, many of the premises for the situations are very believable (I, like Jason, had a secret crush- and swore to slug the boy if he ever told, when I was around 10...or was it last year?...um...); these characters go beyond typical stereotypes and have clearly defined characteristics- Amend makes sure the little details, such as the silly posters hanging in their rooms, help convey his characters' personalities. My favorite, of course, is Jason, but I can identify with all of them: Paige, Peter, Roger and Andy, Marcus, Nicole, Denise and Steve...Even Ms. O'Malley!
The Camp Foxtrot collection is probably my favorite, but all the others do not lag behind. This collection brings back the friends Jason made at Camp Bohrmore in an exciting whoddunit (complete with bubble-making pipe).
You can tell Amend has fun doing this (keep an eye out for all the newspaper headlines featuring the successful exploits of a certain cartoonist)- and is a great observer, too.

5-0 out of 5 stars "If you're in a jam, call JAM." An Excellent Collection
Whenever I am down or am just having the worst day in the world, I usually need to read or watch something funny. A lot of times I read comics like Calvin and Hobbes and FoxTrot. FoxTrot is always funny and is able to get more than a laugh or two out of me. Here is another excellent FoxTrot collection by the great Bill Amend; "Encyclopedias Brown and White."

There's more chaos and insanity going on in the Fox household than ever before. Jason is aggravating his sister, Paige, Roger is driving his wife up the wall, and Peter is eating just about anything he can get his hands on. They are still just as outrageous as ever and can still surprise us even when we think they can't do any better.

Some of the stuff you will find in this collection:
*Peter's cell phone
*Detectives Jason and Marcus tries to solve a crime
*Roger and his homemade wine
*Paige's Robo-Pup
*Varsity e-football (wha?)
*Nosecracker dreams, and much more!

I found this collection of FoxTrot comics to be extremely funny and entertaining. Amend never ceases to be funny and is always looking for something new and clever to write. These collections are also very easy to read over and over again, without it losing any of it's humor. Jason driving his sister insane is always fun to see!

So if you love FoxTrot, then "Encyclopedias Brown and White" is the one for you. Filled with witty humor, outrageous situations, and memorable lines, this is a great read for anyone who's looking for a little humor and entertainment.

1-0 out of 5 stars two thumbs down
I'm sorry, but that book stunk!

It deffinetly could have used some more jokes. i mean, I barely cracked a smile reading this! Mr. Amend, if you read this, take my advice. Lighten up, man!

4-0 out of 5 stars Same old, same old... but good as ever!
Foxtrot is finally getting to the point where the strips seem familiar even when they are brand new. Still, it's one of my favorite strips for the charactors and brand of humor... and I'll keep reading (and buying!) until this one turns into another Garfield or fades off into the sunset like C&H.

2-0 out of 5 stars Stupid
This used to be funny, but this adition sinks too a new low point, a lot of the jokes are unfunny and unoriginal, most of them are recycled from previous Foxtrot comic strips... ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Loved It
the only problem i had with this book is that it took me no time to read through it. very funny, wish it had lasted longer. a must read.

5-0 out of 5 stars outstanding.
A kid thinks that they are immortal. And will try this. So thekid in us, is in the sled enjoyingthis.

5-0 out of 5 stars One Great Book
I absolutely loved this book. It was absolutely hilarious. With Jason seeing Jurrassic Park, The Fox family going on vacation, and Jason and Marcus's 83 story Comic Book Store this book was great. 5 Stars!

5-0 out of 5 stars Never too old to read FoxTrot
It's beem years since I read Fox Trot but when I picked this comic strip book up the other day, it was like riding a bicyle.(but more fun!) I got right back into the rhythm without missing a beat. All the same old characters came back just as big and large as their endearing yet odd yet familiar personalities. Jason the nerd-genius and his side-kick friend Marcus, Peter-Peter-the-eat-anything-that-doesn't-move-but-never-gains-weight older brother and Peter's nympho-sight-impaired girlfriend, and Paige-the-type-of-snooty-girl-every-reader-wanted-to-hate-in-high-school older sister. Then there's the-anti-Julia-Childs-tofu-pushing-try-it-you'll-love-it-health-nut-mom and the ever clueless but we-still-wouldn't-trade-ya-for-a-smarter-one Dad. And let's not forget the Quincy the REAL lizard King! (eat your heart out Jim Morrison)

The humor can be enjoyed at SO many different levels. An 8 year old can enjoy this book but so can an 80 year old. That's the beauty of FoxTrot. I get "it". And I enjoy "it". The dry as the Sahara desert humor, the nerd humor, the family-full-of-mixed-nuts-kind of humor, the little brother picking on the older sister and even the ever present oh-so-very-subtle-and-clever-word-play humor.

Bill Amend has proven once again that he can do no wrong when it comes to Fox Trot. Chalk this one up as another keeper for your FoxTrot library. (But whatever you do, DO NOT let anyone borrow your FoxTrot books like I did. You'll never see them again. Obviously, this "borrower" thought they were "keepers" too!)

4-0 out of 5 stars Pretty funny!
Life goes on at the Fox house, where Jason Fox is just as normal as...well, as he always is. Foxtrot is the funniest comic alive in the paper, if you ask me, since Calvin and Hobbes was retired. If you enjoy the comics, this is a great strip.

Amend could cut down on Paige in the bikini though... ... Read more

Book Description

It's perceptive. It's irreverent. But, more than anything, FoxTrot is reliably funny year after year, strip after strip. FoxTrot Collection is the latest collection of strips featuring the funny and flawed Fox family. It marks the 23rd collection of this comic strip staple that can be found in more than 1,000 newspapers worldwide every day. FoxTrot Collection is the latest chronicle of the chaotic Fox family-parents Roger and Andy, teenagers Peter and Paige, and ten-year old Jason and his pet iguana, Quincy. This book finds Roger behind his keyboard struggling to write a spy novel, prompting helpful writing advice from Jason such as "the 'on' switch is that little round one." The others add to the insanity, with Jason battling video games, Paige searching for a personal assistant, Peter eating and eating, and Andy stressing through it all.Everyone experiences day-to-day turmoil in their family life, which is why Bill Amend's FoxTrot Collection is sure to resonate with readers across the globe. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars "Can't you guys eat jelly beans like normal people?!"
Here is another fabulous collection of FoxTrot comics, which proves that Bill Amend still has it at being funny and clever. Anytime I see a new one of these books on the shelves of bookstores, I purchase them immediately. I have lost track of the times I have read each of them. "His Code Name was The Fox" is a great collection filled with humor and surprises.

Once again we visit the Fox Family, who always end up getting into unpredictable situations. Jason is still finding new ways to torment his sister, Roger is just as unintelligent as ever (especially when he acts like he is smart), Andy is getting more and more strung out by trying to keep her family sane, and Peter is not gaining any weight, no matter how much he eats. All of them play a very important role in this very funny and entertaining collection.

Some of the stuff you will encounter in the collection:
*Roger's novel
*Basement cleaning
*Peter's return to working at the theatre
*Paige's new personal secretary
*Jason's new video playmate, and much more!

If you love Foxtrot, then you will fall in love with "His Code Name was The Fox." I have read it many, many times already and have not gotten sick of it yet. Bill Amend proves once again that he can keep the laughs coming. Very highly recommended!

5-0 out of 5 stars Amend is still the best!
Once again the journey into Amend's world is a treat. His ability to sustain characters who are believable while remaining likable is not to be taken lightly. The last cartoonist who did that was Charles Schulz.

One request, Mr. Amend: Please let Jason have a real computer! At least give him a scroll mouse with five buttons - he deserves it!

5-0 out of 5 stars Another Great FoxTrot Book
This is the 3rd FoxTrot book in the new smaller size. But don't let the smaller size of this book put you off. The strips inside are as large as ever (some even larger) and there are no problems reading it!

This book covers strips from Christmas 2001 through summer 2002 (actual dates not known at the time of this writing). The cover refers to an attempt by Roger to write a spy novel in which he is the star. The strips covering this funny even are all inside as are the usual fun caused by the Fox family and friends. Clean artwork and clean, fun humor abound in this comic strip book. Great for light reading before bed, or any other time!

5-0 out of 5 stars Bill Amend's Cartoons are Like a Fine Wine! Spectacular!
By saying that Amend's cartoons are like a fine wine, I don't mean that they're full of squished fruit or alcohaol, they just get better with age. Besides having the worst cover in the history of comic books, this is one of the best books in the history of comic books.

The title comes from Roger's (Dad) depression of feeling like he's an average joe and starts to write a spy novel. The back cover reads... "Will the world be saved, or will Andy (Mom) fail do destroy Roger's spy novel in time?"

Other series in this book include:
-Valentine's dinner
-Jason's video game playmate (hint: Eileen)
-Paige's personal secretary
-Peter's return to the movie theater
-A family vacation to the Caribeanny resorts (know typo)
-Spring cleaning
-and many, many more episodes of: finals week, taxes & Andy's meatless cooking

A must-have for anybody who likes cartoons. Get it, it will satisfy.

5-0 out of 5 stars Filling in the Patches
Foxtrot and it's new book "His Code Name Was The Fox" is the "Calvin and Hobbes" of our time. It's the "Far Side" of our time. Heck it's the "That Phony Nickel" of our time. The book shows humor still lives in the Express section. ... Read more
