5-0 out of 5 stars A collection by the greatest fantasy artist of all time!!!
"Hiten" offers a huge selection-close to 100 plates-of vibrant images. I can never tire of examining and immersing myself in each dreamscape. His figures are just the right combination of reality and fantasy...to sum it up...it's gorgeous!!

5-0 out of 5 stars Hiten - the Art of Yoshitaka Amano - description
This is an art book, so it's basically all pictures. Most of it is rich, full-color paintings, and if you're not familiar with Yoshitaka Amano's work, it's a mixture of Anime and Western Fantasy style artwork, done with the intensity of a serious artist. Great stuff!

5-0 out of 5 stars Hiten captures the heart and soul of fantasy art.
To put it simply, Hiten is superb. To put it less simply, Hiten is a book filled with brilliant, shimmering examples of the mastermind fantasy artist Yoshitaka Amano. Within each painting are details abounding, with more noticed at every examination. The art doesn't always make sense, but it doesn't have to . . . it is fantasy, and fantasy is the imagination. And surely, very surely, anyone who takes the time to completely absorb the book will have their imagination occupied for more than the instance it takes to browse the pages.

I do not believe I can actually do justice to Hiten in words, for the adjectives existing in all the vocabularies of all the languages of Earth and beyond could never be that adequate. And so, I can only go back to the heart and soul of fantasy, a piece of which is within Hiten: The Art of Yoshitaka Amano ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars X vs. Tokyo Babylon
I have to say, I wasn't very interested in Tokyo Babylon when I first heard of it. I though it was just another CLAMP story. Of, course, I'm a CLAMP fan, but I only liked about half of their story. I decided to pick up X one day because... well, the library didn't have any other mangas. I found it interesting, but I though it could have been better. Actually, I didn't know the Subaru-kun existed in X until I did some research on it. Of, course I wasn't a major fan of Subaru-kun. I hadn't read TB yet. So here's the difference in TB and X:
    1. Subaru was a lot happier. Sometimes he was overworked, but happier.
    2. Subaru didn't smoke. If Seishiro hadn't killed Hokuto, than Subaru wouldn't have started.
Um... I can't think of anymore. But anyway, TB was a more lighthearted story as to X being bloodied. I all I think TB was a lot better than X.

5-0 out of 5 stars In comparison to X ZER0
    Ok, I had to write this, but it'll only make sense if you know X. First of all, like most Tokyo Babylon fans, I never bothered to pick it up until I saw Subaru-kun (the main character of TB) in X in that (if you'll forgive my sarcasm) oh so touching nakano scene where he first shows up, meeting Seishirou-san for the first time in what? 8 years? And then I was hooked and had to find out what happened and thanks to some over enthusiastic friends... it wasn't hard ^_^;;
So back to what this is really about, a review about the TB artbook. I guess what i was trying to say is that this is a must have. However, if you're buying this book, expecting it to be the same as the X artbook, well, you're going to be dissapointed, because it's just so completely different. The entire book is something like a fashion magazine with a meaning. No, it's not as beautiful as the X artbook, every page isn't covered with sakura flowers until you're neck deep in red (either that or blood) but still, for me at least, it brought me closer to tears than X artbook ever did simply because it was so happy. If you've read X you would know that Subaru isn't the happiest person in the world. There isn't a single picture of him smiling or even mildly happy, but TB is another story. I was just so touched by how happy he, Hokuto (his twin sister) and Seishirou-san was. I think anyone would be. It's just truely a beautiful and happy book, something to be treasured.
I really hope they would release the manga in English, but that's probably hoping a bit too far, but still, I'm sitting here wondering how the heck are you suppose to understand X without reading TB?? Are you for information my new project of making a CLAMP info site which will include translations and scans of TB (also X, RG Veda and other CLAMP products) ^_^

5-0 out of 5 stars Must have for all CLAMP Tokyo Babylon fans
The Tokyo Babylon Photographs artbook is a must for any Tokyo Babylon fan. It is a collection of "photographs" of Subaru, Hokuto and Seishirou laid out in album style and features both "candid" and "posed" shots. (Get a load of the Sei and Sub "Wedding penguin" pic! And I especially love the one where they are wearing kimonos. ) The book features the trio both in colorful whimsical pictures, as well as dark ones. I especially love the twin "mirror" shots and the Sei/Sub "opposite" shots. The ones featuring separate shots of all three in similar, albeit familiar shots are wonderful as well. And for real die-hard fans, the photos of Sei and Sub in "1999" are special treat!

5-0 out of 5 stars An Excellent Artbook by CLAMP
"Tokyo Babylon Photographs" is the artbook for CLAMP's popular series of the same name.It contains 158 pages-I think- of coloured artwork based on the characters from "Tokyo Babylon".

The book comes with it's own dustjacket with it's name in blue on the front and side. The papers are of high quality, and the art inside is beautiful and reflects the ideas behind the series. The pictures are arranged first by colours, then by themes. There are some English words and sentences to hint at CLAMP's ideas.I should note that you will notice the differences between pictures as when each of them was drawn, some clearly date from the beginnings of "TB".

The best part has to be the last section, which has images of the older Subaru and Seishirou in 1999.Fans who've read the manga will certainly appreciate them. Not to mention Hokoto in her outragious costumes ^-^

This is an excellent artbook by CLAMP,and fans of CLAMP and especially those of "Tokyo Babylon" are going to enjoy it.I just hope that you're familiar with "TB"'s story ^_~

"Tokyo Babylon" is a 7 volume manga by CLAMP,with 1 artbook, and a two-part OVA.The OVA was released in the US,but don't expect to see the manga though. If you're a recent addition to the CLAMP fandom ask around and you'll know why. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Kaori Yuki is a goddess!
Kaori Yuki's work IS truly amazing....Her use of color and expression are soooo beautiful. The drawings are as close to human as anime can get without being something else, but they are distinctly manga drawings. The images range from beautiful gothic depictions of angels and demons to the characters just hanging out (which are totally awesome the way she captures human emotions). The symbols she uses, etc etc etc there is so much that is just so emotional in her work I LOVE IT. I can't get enough of it. I just wish they would release some of her things in the US. (getting back on track) You will not be dissapointed in any way if you decide to purchase her art; you will definitly be impressed and moved!

5-0 out of 5 stars Anime at is Best
Im a huge fan of Kaori Yuki and I have looked everywhere for this or any othe of her books. She is an artistic goddess... The art and comlication to her plots and anime is done in a way tht is beyond perfection. This book has to be one of the best.

5-0 out of 5 stars How could you not love this book?
Kaori Yuki's art is the most beautiful that the anime world has to offer. Her images are realistic, incredibly detailed, and done almost completely by hand. I cannot even begin to tell you the emotion and symbolism expressed in every single image. Even if "Angel Sanctuary" isn't on the top of your anime favorites list, this is a book that no anime art fan should be without!

5-0 out of 5 stars Great
Great, i love Kaori Yuki's artwork. i wish i could draw like that, (come to think of it, i wish i could draw...)the way she captures life between human and anime is truly amazing. also, her drawings are beautifuly gothic, while still keeping a good side of themselfs too. i would say this is a must have for anime lovers.
