5-0 out of 5 stars "The Seven Spiritual Laws of Success"---- " revisited"
Knowing how to be spiritual is going to be our quest, for our future understanding depends on it. It's going back to our roots so to speak...from where we came...remember? If "Healing Society" by Dr Seung Heun Lee requests a spiritual awakening to accomplish our goal of "playing well together" to accomplish our higher purpose of peace on earth... who better than a wise and compassionate teacher, we know as Deepak Chopra, to tell and show us how to be this? Deepak generously leads us to a beautiful place where all we have to do is "be." Spirit is what we are... and love is who we are... and where we come from and then return to. What more can we desire? Maybe to revisit that perfect state from which we came, perhaps? Maybe everything is possible and simple. Maybe we should return to our innocence. In innocence we are fearless in our thoughts and actions...totally in tune with our inner self. Let's be beautiful spirit shared from our hearts where God lives. Read or reread "The Seven Spiritual Laws of Success" A Practical Guide to the Fulfillment of your Dreams and Deepak will give you the gift of your inner you...your "self"...dare to be beautiful!

5-0 out of 5 stars Practical and very fulfilling. A must read!
I have been going through a major turning point in my life and this book has allowed me to deal with my life's challenge in a very self fulfilling way. This is a must read for anyone wishing to find true inner peace and happiness. I wish I found this book 20 years ago! Read it every day and make it a fundamental part of your life. Self fulfillment will come when you practice the "Seven Spiritual Laws of Succcess". This book truly illuminates the heart, soul and mind

5-0 out of 5 stars "This existence of ours is as transient as autumn clouds."
It is always nice to find someone out there that thinks the same way you do, however express it much better.

In "The Seven Spiritual Laws of Success", by Deepak Chopra, he describes the fundamental principles of the universe and how we as part of the universe can be successful. Throughout the book he has to slow sown and explain how he is using many of the words as we usually give them different meaning. Then there are a few times that he has to turn to Indian words instead of making up new ones. Many say he is based in Ancient Vedic concepts yet if you did not know of them you would relies these are concepts of the now.

He hits the deck running with this book so if you have not been exposed to these concepts before you may need to re-read the book several times. And this book was not meant to jus be read you need to practice the concepts to understand them. This book is based on "Creating Affluence" and does not have the size to contain a lot of background reasoning for drawing conclusions. Your practice off the laws will do that for you.

The concepts are too simple to give the titles any meaning however here they are.
1. The Law of Pure
The source of all creation is pure consciousness...
2. The Law of Giving
The universe operates through dynamic exchange...
3. The Law of "Karma" or Cause and Effect
Every action generates a force of energy that returns to us in like kind...
4. The Law of Least Effort
Nature's intelligence functions with effortless ease...

5. The Law of Intention and Desire
Inherent in every intention and desire is the mechanics for its fulfillment...
6. The law of Detachment
In detachment lies the wisdom of uncertainty...
7. The law of "Dharma" or Purpose in life
Everyone has a purpose in life...

On a personal note it is so eerie that many of the things he talks about especially in the seventh law was the way me ad my siblings were raised. However I was 20 years old before cutting throw my first Veda

Be sure to also listen to the audio to here how he emphasizes.

5-0 out of 5 stars Applying these laws has helped many...
...myself included.

I first read this book about 4 or 5 years ago when I began my journey towards discovering my Higher Self. This book is a great read no matter what religion (if any) you belong to. Honestly, the fundamental laws that lead to success in the game of life along all lines--health, wealth, peace of mind, love/relationships and true expression--are very simple but few of us are lucky to happen upon them. Then, for those who do, applying these laws consistently is something that even fewer of us do.

My favorite nugget of wisdom from this book is the follow:
"That which doesn't multiply through giving is neither worth giving nor receiving." (pg. 30)

I try to keep this insightful idea in mind when I consider not only finanacial and material concerns but my relationships and interactions with people as well.

I have read 3 of the author's books and this one is thus far my favorite.

4-0 out of 5 stars Spiritual Laws Made simple
Chopra has manage once again to bring a lot of Eastern Philosophy to the west with a certain simplicity. He makes it easier to follow these principles in our everyday lives.Spirituality is everyday living and This book allows us to practice that!
Thank you Chopra for these insights ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Promises -- Promises!
I was skeptical about this book at first (it was a gift), but I found it to be a real treasure. I read it in shorts gulps at night after my now-7-month old drifted off to sleep. It's a beautiful and heartwarming--and very real--emotional tribute to motherhood. I just finished reading another heartwarming--but also very funny--love letter about parenting, "I Sleep At Red Lights: A True Story of Life After Triplets," by Bruce Stockler, which you might also enjoy

5-0 out of 5 stars THE AHAH! BOOK
I was about four years old when I discovered that things die, and the outrage that I felt at this news has fueled a fifty year search to understand what we're doing here. This is not my only literary quest, but it is a big one, and it has taken me all over the map. When I studied relativity and quantum physics in college, I saw - 'through a glass darkly' - that this was an important piece of the puzzle, but real understanding eluded me. I just bought the The Visionary Window, and I knew almost immediately, that this, for me, was the Ahah! book - the one that brought all the pieces together. I recommend it highly.

4-0 out of 5 stars Hold a Webster with you for this
Although the book seems to be sincere effort in terms of the treatment of subject, but the language is too tricky with very very esoteric terminology used. Also the use of word 'quantum' seems to be too casual and thus the terms such as 'quantum monad' seem too ambiguous. Perhaps when Mr Goswami has finally reached some perspective about 'truth', he will realize that any truth that can be expressed, ceases to be 'the truth'.

5-0 out of 5 stars Finally, Unification of Eastern and Western thought.
Many students of philosophy understand and appreciate both
Western materialist philosophies and Eastern philosophies
more centered on consciousness. Like looking at an atom,
and looking at a galaxy, these two philosophies needed a
middleground to connect them
In this book, Goswami is the first person ever to unify
the two seemingly disparate ideologies. He provides the
middleground in a way that books like "The Tao of Physics"
fail to do. (They only "hint" at the connection).

I am very happy that I bought this book.

5-0 out of 5 stars Very highly recommended reading for students of physics
With his insightful and occasionally inspiring observations and commentaries integrating the spiritual with the scientific, Amit Goswami's The Visionary Window: A Quantum Physicist's Guide To Enlightenment to present a new scientific paradigm placing human values as paramount. He shows how the principles embedded and revealed through the new science of quantum physics can help the reader tap into an inner creativity, deepen spirituality, and life a life of liberation and fulfillment. The Visionary Window is very highly recommended reading for students of physics, metaphysics, and spirituality.

5-0 out of 5 stars The Visionary Window
Unlike Dr. Goswami's other books, which often meander and seem too technical for a layperson, this book is extremely well-written and easy for anyone interested in the new physics and spirituality to understand. This is a fascinating account of exactly how quantum physics might be used to explain such complex spiritual phenomenon as reincarnation, karma, shaktipat, the chakras and physical death. Dr. Goswami's father was a Hindu guru in India. However,as a small boy hiding in an English library during the Indian War of Independence, his son read all of Einstein's works and began a lifelong journey to find explanations in the laws of physics for the most mysterious spiritual tenets of the ancient Upanishads. Today, Dr. Goswami teaches quantum physics at the University of Oregon, and is a scholar in residence at the Institute of Noetic Sciences. Consequently, he seems the most qualified of the "new physicists" to integrate Eastern spirituality with Western science. This books offers people in the West nothing less than a real opportunity to understand God, and, as such, is probably the most spectacular book you'll ever read. ... Read more

Book Description

As elegant as his bestselling How to Know God and as practical as his phenomenal The Seven Spiritual Laws of Success, this groundbreaking new book from Deepak Chopra contains a dramatic premise: Not only are everyday coincidences meaningful, they actually provide us with glimpses of the field of infinite possibilities that lies at the heart of all things. By gaining access to this wellspring of creation, we can literally rewrite our destinies in any way we wish.

From this realm of pure potential we are connected to everything that exists and everything that is yet to come. “Coincidences” can then be recognized as containing precious clues about particular facets of our lives that require our attention. As you become more aware of coincidences and their meanings, you begin to connect more and more with the underlying field of infinite possibilities. This is when the magic begins. This is when you achieve the spontaneous fulfillment of desire.

At a time when world events may leave us feeling especially insignificant and vulnerable, Deepak Chopra restores our awareness of the awesome powers within us. And through specific principles and exercises he provides the tools with which to create the magnificent, miraculous life that is our birthright.

2-0 out of 5 stars Try Another Book - This One is Flat
I agree (now) with the editorial review, but I had to see for myself, since I am a Chopra fan. Editor said "Although Chopra's theories are expressed in a confusing and repetitive manner, the techniques he advocates may prove interesting to those who enjoy his humanistic, if convoluted, approach to self-help." Yep.

There are better books on the market, including one I just finished from a NDE survivor who educates without the confusion, and theres two chapters on technique that humans can understand! Psychic Gifts in the Christian life by Tiffany Snow. Other books you should look at is the (not kidding) "Idiot" series, which lay a good foundation for several disciplines, like "Meditation for Idiots" or "Psychic Awareness for Idiots," etc. The Power of Coincidence is a bit flat. You expect an author to generate a shift in consciousness, and excitment and method of beneficial change. This book didn't do it. I hope his next one is better. I see him on TV, etc, and I know he's getting better at marketing, but what about the writing? Maybe he's just too busy now for us regular people. Where is the old Chopra I knew? I want him back!

5-0 out of 5 stars ENLIGHTENING!
I purchased this and the "Celestine Prophecy" by James Redfield the same day. Great companions! The "Celestine" is a parable story of the stuff Deepok is speaking about. Each gives you a deeper understanding of the other. I purchased Deepok's on tape and listen to it in my car and the "Celestine" in bookform and therefore am studying both, slowly, together. This was not planned, but, may I say, a coincidence. These were the only two items I picked up in the bookstore that day, one audio and the other in bookform, perfect!

If you are concerned of Deepok's book being too dry, buy the "Celestine" first. If it sparks an interest, then go on to buy Deepok's for a deeper and more complete understanding of the why's, mechanics and science behind coincidences.

5-0 out of 5 stars A PERFECT fit ... for me.
No book is for everyone ... no book can reach every person in the infinite variety of lives we live. But THIS book was precisely what I was looking for when I found it. I've referred to it over and over and over again and it has proven to be of invaluable assistance to me as I've worked to change my life from the inside out.

As I first read the book, and was blown away by how perfectly it filled in the gaps in the picture of life that was forming within me, I also realized "this book isn't for everybody". Read the other reviews and follow your instincts. If it sounds like something that you've been searching for but haven't been able to find ... then I think you'll be delightfully pleased. If it sounds like smoke and mirrors to you, then look for something else. If you're in the mood for an apple, why eat an orange and blame the orange when you're done?

2-0 out of 5 stars I think it's flat too
Wayne Dyer is better(most of his books). Tiffany Snow is better (all of her books). Some of Chopra's earlier works are better. Many books are better than this, this one just repeats most of what we already know, so why bother?

5-0 out of 5 stars Definitely worth reading
A worthy insight into probable meaning of daily happenings. It is absolutely fantastic. Dr. Chopra has done it again. It can change your thinking.........and your life. If you find the book flat (as an earlier reviewer did), all you need to do is actually read the book and you will find the treasure that it is. 5 stars all the way. ... Read more

Book Description

You don't have to believe in God in order to experience God.
--- Deepak Chopra

The celebrated author of Ageless Body, Timeless Mind and The Seven Spiritual Laws of Success has written his most ambitious and important work yet, a runaway international bestseller that has inspired hundreds of thousands of readers to rethink their concept of God.

According to Chopra, the brain is hardwired to know God. The human nervous system has seven biological responses that correspond to seven levels of divine experience. These are shaped not by any one religion (they are shared by all faiths), but by the brain's need to take an infinite, chaotic universe and find meaning in it. How to Know God describes the quest each of us is on, whether we realize it or not. For, as Chopra puts it, "God is our highest instinct to know ourselves." This book makes a dramatic and enduring contribution to that knowledge.

5-0 out of 5 stars A fresh look at a profound subject
This is a very thought-provoking book, and for anyone with an open mind it will at least give them a new way of looking at the nature of reality and how it might be possible to "know" God. Because Chopra takes a fresh approach and does not follow any particular dogma, some may have a bit of a knee-jerk response and write him off as "New Age." The search for a deeper understanding of God, however, is as old as humankind itself, and hardly started with the "New Age" movement in the modern world. Hinduism and Christianity are two of the world's great religions, and each has contributed great insights to that ancient search. Anyone with a true spiritual motivation will be able to recognize certain universal religious truths revealed in other religions besides their own, even though there may be many differences in terms of methods, traditions, and so on. I'm a bit sorry to see the reviews for this thoughtful book become a forum for aggressive assertions of the superiority of one religion over another. There's no problem whatsoever with the basic teachings of either Hinduism or Christianity, but the problem is the growing tendency toward fundamentalism in both of those religions. With a fundamentalist viewpoint, one sees only the outer form of one's own and other religions, and completely loses the insight into the deeper underlying truths. That seems to be the source of some of the attacks on this book, whereas, ironically, this book itself is a very helpful antidote to that type of closed-minded thinking.

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent Scientific Treatment
It is clear that this book draws its ideas from great Eastern books in addition to including examples from Western Culture. It does make a lot of sense to draw interpretations and ideas from the great Eastern sources since they are complete and scientific. Western religions are more shallow and superficial and dwell more in the material world. How else can one explain the Western books talking more about Commandments for living? I think that most critics of this book have a problem because they are non-accepting of different or more complete universal interpretations of God. Most of these people are so immersed with their lives in their world, this planet and following the commandments that they cannot see the rest of the Universe.

2-0 out of 5 stars There are better books
Deepak is looking at God through India glasses, tinted differently than rose-colored perhaps, but definitely different than the God I know and love. There are better books on the market which explore and take God "out of the box," such as Tiffany Snow's "Psychic Gifts in the Christian Life - Tools to Connect." Through Tiffany's glasses (and I know we all wear some version of them) I saw many more facets, rainbow colors and true gems of the nature of God than I did through Chopra, whether you are a Christian or not. I did like Chopra's "7 Laws" though, and some of his other works.

3-0 out of 5 stars Journey to know God
If you indeed want to take this journey, a good starting point is "Autobiography of a Yogi" by Swami Paramahamsa Yogananda.

I don't need to say anymore, you will figure it out for yourself.

5-0 out of 5 stars Infinite Wisdom, Can You Define That?
I enjoyed Deepak Chopra's book, and plan to use it as a reference during my lifetime to review other people's different "constructions" of "their GOD". For me it's hard to believe that this world's "work-a-job" people (most people) have time to read, research, and (most important) practice spirituality to an extent to give credit to another's (humans-Deepak's) ability to grasp an ineffable infinite intelligence or Being. Read a modern (LIFE Application Bible) Bible and after sorting through numerous conflicting footnotes after 6 months, you too will wonder why this Bible seems so "contradictory" (Yes even inspired with the Holy Spirit). I say this after seeing others "doubt" Chopra's reasonings. Let me end with this: Create a Universe, heck Galaxy of Billions of Suns and Planets full of infinite wonders and life...and then perhaps you can talk to us, and our egos will be able to comprehend why "negative reviewers" understand so well how 'dumb and boring' extensive works (like Deepaks) are elementary. Give me a break critics, perhaps once in "Heaven" you'll be arguing (to God himself) your right of entry in your unbelief in anything but your own falible EGO. May God bless us all, and slow us down enough to notice that He may have already done so...daily, daily daily, GOD BLESS YOU. /////// + B. Morgan ... Read more

Early on in Quantum Healing, Deepak Chopra asks an interesting question: Why, when your body mends a broken arm, is it not considered a miracle, but when your body rids itself of cancer, it is? Chopra believes the two phenomena spring from the same well, that the body is capable of doing much more than we assume it can. He calls this ability to cure disease from within "quantum healing," and shows how we're all capable of it. He believes intelligence exists everywhere in our bodies, in each of our 50 trillion cells, and that therefore each cell knows how to heal itself. It's a fascinating assertion, one that remains unprovable by science but overwhelmingly true by anecdote. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars A must-read for all doctors
Dr. Chopra's 'Quantum Healing' is a must-read for all medical professionals because being a doctor I know that over the years our minds get programmed to learn from text-books without developing any new insights and eventually we treat patients very mechanically, ignoring the human aspect of a doctor-patient relationship and also the part human consciousness can play in recovery from an illness. Dr. Chopra has done a wonderful job of highlighting some of the medical concepts which point towards an active role of human consciousness in health promotion.
This book may be a difficult one for people who do not have a medical background because of frequent use of medical terminology.

4-0 out of 5 stars Ancient Wisdom Revisited
The senses of the wise man obey his mind, his mind obeys his intellect, his intellect obeys his ego, and his ego obeys the Self. -- Katha Upanishad

Thus, within this brief passage, we have the essence of Dr. Deepak Chopra's book Quantum Healing, which successfully seems to shed light for the uninitiated Western reader on the mind/body connection as it relates to medical healing. Although the ideas and techniques he discusses in his book may sound new to us, they are in actuality, as the Doctor demonstrates through his scrupulous tracing of the Western disciplines of neuroscience and physics back to the source of their beginings in the ancient Vedic traditions, as old as time itself. With the precision of an artist meticulously carving a statue, Dr. Chopra proceeds to chip away at Western medicine's physical approach to healing, asserting the point that "when the memory of health returns [it] brings with it enough power to last a lifetime."

These mind-based methods of healing, he tells us, are based upon Ayurveda, the ancient tradition of Indian medicine. The term "Ayurveda" is derived from its two Sanskrit roots, Ayus, meaning "life," and Veda, which can mean either "science" or "knowledge." Combined, the literal meaning becomes "science of life."

In describing how he came up with the term quantum healing, Dr. Chopra relates the moving story of one of his first patients to undergo Ayurvedic treatment. The patient, a woman who had lung cancer, had responded well to the traditional Western treatments which had been combined with Ayurvedic methods. The Ayurvedic method depended upon a "change of diet, some Ayurvedic herbs, a specific daily routine including simple yoga exercises, and instruction in Transcendental Meditiation." She was also "given two special mental techniques that went directly to the root of her cancer."

After nearly a year of this treatment, the woman had a sudden remission of her cancer. "They can't find any cancer cells at all--nothing," the woman's husband announced joyously over the phone to Dr. Chopra, who himself was surprised by the rapidity of the cure. Yet within a few weeks the woman's "miracle" began to teeter and stumble, not physically, but within the woman herself: "instead of being able to trust in her inexplicable recovery, she became conflicted, morbidly afraid that the cancer would return....It seemed that [her] cancer was easier to defeat than the sinister doubt that was creeping back into her life, defying her to be well....For her to be well again, she needed an explanation."

This, Dr. Chopra concedes, was the real starting point of his book. He continues, "Research on spontaneous cures of cancer...has shown that just before the cure appears, almost every patient experiences a dramatic shift in awareness. He knows that he will be healed, and he feels that the force responsible is inside himself but not limited to him -- it extends beyond his personal boundaries, throughout all of nature....The leap in consciousness seems to be the key....The word that comes to mind when a scientist thinks of such sudden changes is 'quantum.' The word denotes a discrete jump from one level of functioning to a higher level -- the quantum leap."

Throughout the remainder of the book, Dr. Chopra delves into an exacting and thorough discription of how this process is worked out in a physical way, using a style of language and an approach that is easily intelligible by both technician and layman alike. He quite effortlessly moves back and forth between the scientific and the more subjective metaphysical explanations behind how quantum healing takes place, in order to show, he asserts, the true nature of healing. The result is a delightful and convincing work, filled with many anecdotes and personal insights which enhance his arguments.

Quantum Healing hedges into the realm of being a contemplative tour de force, wherein the empirical and the analytical embrace with sublime warmth and intimacy the intuitive and the metaphysical. Indeed, one can almost "feel" a heightening in one's own awareness as he reads deeper into the book with a joy that only a discoverer has as he is breaking into new uncharted territory.

Dr. Chopra speaks with a clarity and confidence which is amply reinforced through his own personal experience. At one juncture he illustrates graphically the point that our minds create our reality. He relates an experience he had taking off from an airport in Bombay. The jetliner had apparently developed a problem shortly after take-off, and the "Fasten Your Seatbelt" sign flashed on overhead. The pilot made an announcement that they were having to return to the airport, and minutes later the jetliner bounced onto the runway. There was no fire or explanation ever given for the incident. Within minutes, the passengers were reboarded onto a different jet, but about half elected to stay on the ground.

"I didn't feel too disturbed during the incident," he writes, "and got on the second plane. The next time I caught a flight, about ten days later, my mind was at ease. However, as soon as they flashed on the sign, "No Smoking/Fasten Your Seatbelt," accompanied by that ding sound, my heart started to pound. At first I couldn't put two and two together; then I realized that I had created a small conditioned reflex in myself....I then noticed that as soon as this explanation dawned on me, my heartbeat went back to normal."

"For a few seconds I was present at the birth of one impulse that shaped my reality. It is plausible that I have unwittingly created myself by piling up millions of impulses just like it."

What Dr. Chopra had "unwittingly" stumbled onto is undoubtedly the key behind our human creation of reality and how to clear unbeneficial reactions from our beingness, in essence allowing our minds to react to the present moment rather than be drawn back into a negative past experience which we have previously "conditioned" into ourselves.

5-0 out of 5 stars Not Nonsense - some miss the point
To those reviewers that claim this book is nonsense are completely missing the point. In my opinion the author is expanding traditional Western thinking around healing. Not that we can actually study and manipulate the quantum level of our own bodies, but rather entertain new ways of enhancing our own healing through the power of our own minds

Scientists can prove that being depressed, angry, or generally negative causes a negative biological reaction. Why can't the inverse be true?

I recommend if you're searching for a way to better understand how your state of mind might impact your health, or are searching for alternative therapy, pick up this book.

5-0 out of 5 stars Healing that worked for me.

I was greatly benefitted by meditation and recovered from pains that took away my hopes and happiness. I developed severe ulcers working in a high tech job. I tried all kinds of modern medical therapies like ranitidne, omeprazole etc. They didn't work. I had changed doctor after doctor, my last doctor repeatedly asked me to learn meditation.

I started meditation and found major difference in controlling pain and gradually all my pain went away. But it took me 2 years of practise, whenever I stop meditating, I notice an obvious deviation of comfort in my digestion. It is very very important that we learn meditation from a experienced teacher. One thing to remember is don't force any technique, it is a natural process.

During the final stages of my recovery I came to know about Dr Deepak Chopra "Quantum Healing" and was very impressed and thankful for Deepak. I had read from many sources on healing. Dr Deepak must be one of the best. He has knowledge in unbelievably vast subjects in science and medicine like Ayurveda (5000 year old Indian system), modern western medicine realted to heart disease, diabetes, cancer. His knowledge in physics is amazing, Quantum physics seems to have close relationship to mind-body system and healing.

Deepak is very particular about offering us the best insights in natural healing and he has devoted decades in gathering knowledge on every area of scienece realted to health. Only criticism on Deepak is abusing the concepts of Quantum Physics. I have read 3 of his books and believe in his ideas becos they make sense and I appreciate his efforts to make everyone of us understand our full potential and soar into the future and create better lives for not just us but for every one we could.

Today Deepak has more than healing to offer. He is using his experience and knowledge to teach us the skills to acquire more skills and create a better world. More imporantly in the right direction.

It is fortunate to see people like Deepak who has achieved excellence as a doctor, who has understanding of the scientific theories of all great scientists like Einstien, who has unsertood the ancient Indian Vedantic teachings that has known to have evolved over 5000 years of experience, who is trying to put these all together into books to help people understand their nature and potential and create a better live for themselves and others.

How to describe such a man ?, Scientist ?, Angel of God ?, a Prophet ?. I would call him my best Friend !!.

1-0 out of 5 stars Complete nonsense
Deepak might be correct in his assertion that one's mental state affects the healing process, and that certain practices of eastern medicine offer great promise in treating a variety of ailments. But by dressing up his stories, anecdotes and blanket assertions in scientific terminology like "Quantum Healing" Deepak is telling what amounts to a lie. What passes for scientific "reasoning" in Deepak's book would cause a four year old to howl in laughter.

I don't understand why the other reviewers can't see this for themselves. I have a simple question to ask the reviewer who wrote:

"If you are into learning about how molecules of the stomach (neurotransmitters), are the same as those in the central nervous system, and therefore, think, then this book is for you"

Following the same logic, many of the molecules in a lump of coal (carbon) are the same as those in your brain (again, carbon). How can we be certain that you aren't actually dumber than a rock? ... Read more

Book Description

A decade ago, Deepak Chopra, M.D., wrote Perfect Health, the first practical guide to harnessing the healing power of the mind, which became a national bestseller. The book described how breakthroughs in physics and medicine were underscoring the validity of a 5,000-year-old medical system from ancient India known as Ayurveda ("the knowledge of life span" in Sanskrit). Perfect Health went on to describe how to apply the ancient wisdom of Ayurveda to everyday life. In celebration of this classic work we have created this new edition, revised and updated to include the latest medical research.

Although we experience our bodies as solid, they are in fact more like fires that are constantly being consumed and renewed. We grow new stomach linings every five days, for instance. Our skin is new every five weeks. Each year, fully 98 percent of the total number of atoms in our bodies is replaced. Ayurveda gives us the tools to intervene at this quantum level, where we are being created anew each day. Ayurveda tells us that freedom from sickness depends on contacting our own awareness, bringing it into balance, and then extending that balance to the body.

Perfect Health provides a complete step-by-step program of mind body medicine tailored to individual needs. A quiz identifies the reader's mind body type: thin, restless Vata; enterprising, efficient Pitta; tranquil, steady Kapha; or any combination of these three. This body type becomes the basis for a specific Ayurvedic program of diet, stress reduction, neuromuscular integration, exercise, and daily routines. The result is a total plan, tailor-made for each individual, to reestablish the body's essential balance with nature; to strengthen the mind body connection; and to use the power of quantum healing to transcend the ordinary limitations of disease and aging--in short, for achieving Perfect Health.

5-0 out of 5 stars An interesting perspective on health and vitality
For one of the reviewers who commented that Dr. Chopra is "on the heavier side," I have this to say: that is exactly the author's point. Looks are deceiving, everyone has a different body type. Thin doesn't necessarily mean healthy and vice versa. We live in a materialistic society yet this book enlightens your mind, body and soul. It makes you realize that there is another angle to life. We live with nature so we are part of nature. The book simply illustrates this viewpoint and uses ancient Ayurvedic methods to eat, sleep and breathe side by side with nature. Following these practices will heal you. However, everyone is different. If this approach doesn't work for you the least it will do for you is enlighten you. What more can you ask for?

5-0 out of 5 stars EXCELLENT! A NEW WAY OF LIFE!
In all of Deepak Chopra's books, I've admired his extraordinary compassion for his fellow man. This book is no exception. In it, Chopra recognizes the basic differences among body types and he offers us a lifestyle plan for maximizing the health of each, based of the ancient Indian tradition of Ayuveda. Recognizing the fact that you can't fit a square peg into a round hole, Chopra doesn't make the mistake of suggesting that we all strive for the severely anorexic look that is destroying the health of so many today. A few of the previous reviewers have attacked Chopra, saying he is overweight. I've never noticed that and I've seen him many times. Even if he were, his weight should not be an issue here. And isn't it time that SOMEONE put wellness before superficiality? Besides, what could be more stunning than glowing, radiant health?

4-0 out of 5 stars A Good Introduction to Ancient Medicine System of Ayurveda
This book which describes the methodology of Ancient life science of India, called Ayurveda is a good reading as it gives newer meaning (very different from Wersten Medical System's own interpretation of these issues) to things realted to mental and physical health of human beings.

What has been practised in India for many centuries and forgotten by us Indians thereafter for many centuries has been brought to lime light in this book, which seem to be a result of demand in the west to understand Indian science of health and healing.

The explaination of various concepts of Ayurveda, namely body types and their highlights and drawbacks, concept of Doshas and their balancing and also a thing or two about every thing related to Ayurveda e.g. meditation, Yoga etc have been done in a scientific but simple manner. Coming from an MD, That Dr Chopra is, it also sounds very convencing, though there are occasions where you feel that some of the results quoted in the book are beyond the relms of reality (as percived with current contemperory understanding of medicines).

But for the recommendations for his own or Maharshi products (well, I think when the book was published, there might not have been any other outlets selling Ayurveda products in US), which a reader is any way at a libirty to disregard, this is one facinating book on ancient life science from the ancient country called india. Even if one does not believe in what is said in it, one should still read it to learn about a different perspective on healing and well being.

4-0 out of 5 stars Quantum view of the body
Chopra has an interesting, quantum view of the body. Instead of considering it as something solid, he sees the boy as interweaving systems of energies that are constantly being consumed and renewed. Ayurvedic medicine gives us the tools to intervene at the quantum level where we are being recreated every day.

This book provides an exhaustive step-by-step programme of mind-body medicine adapted to individual needs, based on the person's mind-body type. This typology forms the basis of a focused Ayurvedic program of stress reduction, diet, neuromuscular integration, exercise and daily routines.

Part I, A Place Called Perfect Health, explains these various body types.

Part II, The Quantum Mechanical Body, explains the channels of healing via meditation, healing sounds, marma -, music - and aromatherapy.

Part III, Living In Tune With Nature, deals with diet, exercise and a seasonal routine that fits your type.

The book concludes with an appendix, glossary, bibliography and index.

4-0 out of 5 stars Perfect Health: At What Cost?
Perfect Health offers a good introduction to Ayurveda, the ancient Indian system of healing introduced to the larger American audience by Maharishi Mahesh Yogi in the 1970's and popularized by Chopra himself. Chopra presents the ancient healing art in a modern idiom, blending insights from the ancient Ayurvedic sages with modern-day information on quantum physics, diet, and lifestyle. He presents a perfectly accessible tool for any reader who is interested in learning more about Ayurvedic methods for influencing health. A body-type questionnaire in the beginning of the book sets the stage for the information that follows. By following the listed recommendations for your body-type (including exercise and diet) Chopra believes you will improve your health dramatically.

My only concern with this book, and Chopra's books in general, is the subtle way he blends advertisements for Maharishi Ayurvedic services and products in with the information. He presents the benefits of Transcendental Meditation, for example, without offering any insights on how to perform the meditation. Want to learn? Chopra advises you to call your local Maharishi Ayurveda clinic. It maybe true that TM has to be taught face to face, but Chopra's veiled advertisements extend to almost every suggested healing exercise in the book, from aromatherapy to primordial sound techniques, to specific herbs that can be mail-ordered from the Maharishi Ayurveda center. To be fair, he does offer helpful diagrams on yoga postures as well as very specific diet techniques, but after reading the inspiring book, Quantum Healing and now Perfect Health, I have to admit: I am a little disappointed in Chopra's style. But I guess I should have known, perfect health, like most things in life, is not free. ... Read more

Book Description

Deepak Chopra has discovered the delights—and frustrations—of golf, and he is passionate about the game. Confronted by the wild ups and downs of his own play, he consulted with golf professionals and developed a new approach to the game that any golfer can follow—from the novice to the expert. The results can be measured not only in increased enjoyment and skill, but also in greater wisdom about life beyond the 18th hole.

Chopra’s own game has improved dramatically since incorporating the elements of his program. Instead of focusing on the mechanics of a “perfect” swing, Chopra reveals how golf can be mastered through mindfulness, a form of awareness that combines sharp focus and relaxation at the same time. Expanded awareness, he tells us, can accomplish much more than external mechanics to improve one’s game.

But Golf for Enlightenment is also an engrossing story about Adam, an Everyman who is playing a terrible round of golf when he meets a mysterious young teaching pro named Leela. In seven short but profound lessons detailing spiritual strategies, she teaches Adam the essence of a game that has much to explain about life itself.
Chopra has spent the last year taking the unique message in Golf for Enlightenment nationwide, teaching the essential tenets of his program at lectures and seminars to golfers everywhere. His message continues to help players turn an obsession into a positive life path.

5-0 out of 5 stars Not just for golfers!
Heard the CD version of GOLF FOR ENLIGHTENMENT: THE SEVEN LESSONS FOR THE GAME OF LIFE, written and read by Deepak Chopra . . . don't be put off by the title; even if you're not a golfer, you can get value from this material . . . the first part of each chapter, "The Lesson," contains a story about a golfer named Adam and his search for ways to improve his game . . . that material was only fair . . . what I did enjoy much more was the second part, "Playing the Game" or what the lesson taught Adam about life . . . and the third part, "Applied to Life," made the book really come alive, as it dealt with the relationship of golf to a happier, more spiritual life.

I have not played golf since I was a kid . . . however, if I ever
pick up the game again, I'd make it a point to reread this book . . . it showed me how the sport could be not only played, but enjoyed as well.

As Chopra notes toward the end, in talking about the hidden keys
to both golf and life:

When you laugh at a bad shot, you've transcended sorrow.

When you can take genuine pleasure in someone else's victory,
you've transcended jealousy.

When you can feel satisfaction with a round of 97, instead of 80, you've transcended self-importance.

The point is that only when you set your sights to go beyond
outcome can you allow in the possibility of defeating the voice
of self-criticism and ending the frustration that holds in check
deeper, darker fears.

5-0 out of 5 stars when the student is ready the teacher would appear
I've been playing golf for many years and have tried all instructional books and tapes with very poor and inconsistent results. For sure I discarded the possibility of learning golf thru instructions on the mechanics of the golf swing, after so many years I'm convinced that my brain can't process the many nuances of the golf swing to produce a consistent one.

I've had more success when using mind and feeling techniques in the way that Jim Flick or W. Timothy Gallwey teaches in his book the Inner Game of Golf. Although it has improved my game and lower my handicap apparently my right side of the brain is underdeveloped and is still very hard for me to have consistent success.

In Dr.Chopra's approach to golf instruction he raises the level from the mechanical and the emotional all the way to the spiritual level. Maybe it has been that I've been searching for a different approach to the game and at the same time I love all this spiritual literature but the reality is that by using this book as an instructional guide and appplyng his techniques with an irrational faith has make me play the most sublime golf I have ever played in my life. Not necessarily by lowering my score wich I have done lately but by hitting the golf ball with a joy and a pleasure that I didn't have before.

A friend lend me this book the night before a tournament and I finished reading it in my car in the way to the tournament ( is a short book and I was in heavy traffic). In the first tee I imagined a line from the ball to my heart and did as he recommends and for some reason I hit the longest and most beautiful drive I've ever hit, I still go to sleep with the memory of that shot in my mind. Needless to say I played a wonderful round and won the tournament.

I'm still inconsistent but when I can really connect and truly play from my heart the results are beautiful. In my case this book has really impacted my golf game and my life is also fine, thank you.

4-0 out of 5 stars Thank God Deepak Chopra Discovered Golf!!!!
I've been a golfer now for 12 years and a serious reader for even longer. Having devoured books like 'The Legend of Bagger Vance', 'Golf in the Kingdom' and others, the golf/mysticism genre is one that seems to grow stronger and better all the time. Dr. Chopra's book 'Golf for Enlightenment' is another one in this long line of greats. Taking the now popular stance that golf is truly a metaphor for life, he gives us a mystical novel with after chapter commentary on how that segment applied to the game and to life. Think of it as a seven-step program to freedom and enlightenment through the game of golf. I can say with complete honesty that golf has positively changed my life in so many ways. This is why it's so refreshing to read an entertaining story of how it has shaped other people's lives as well. The book is also a very quick read which will leave you imagining the possibilities of your next round. If you love golf and can't get enough of it's endless mysteries and riddles, then this book is definitely for you!

4-0 out of 5 stars Deep and thought provoking
I found this book is quite deep and quickly gets into the realm of conceptual and spiritual ideas. Just as the well-known book "The Inner Game of Golf" deals with the mental side of the game, this book addresses the spiritual side. Having read this, I'm not totally convinced that I understand all the points that are being made, and some are easier to take on board than others. My interpretation of the overall message of this book is that it is all about coming to understand your own place in things and learning to transcend the tensions that exist within life. This is mirrored in golf and the way we approach the game. It should be pointed out that the book isn't really about lowering your golf handicap as such. Like any text concerning spiritual matters, faith and a willingness to suspend cynicism play a big part in determining how much you get out of this. Overall this book is enjoyable and intriguing at the same time, but some of the concepts might be better explained.

5-0 out of 5 stars Most enjoyable gold book ever!
Sometimes I think the game of golf is the endless pursuit of perfect frustration. Deepak Chopra, in his distinctive magical way, taught me otherwise. His mystical/mythical tale of a golfer and his not-quite-human teacher gave me lesson after lesson not only on golf technique, but also on just allowing the process of life to provide me with wonder and joy. I really "got" the game for the first time. Guess what? I cut 2 strokes off! ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Intelligent Food Approach
One of my top 2003 cookbook choices is The Chopra Center Cookbook, a smart and intelligent way of looking at food, what you eat, and how you feel.

As a TV Consumer Wellness Expert,, I feel the inside lacks design creativity and visual interest, but the wellness and food information is fascinating and useful.

Dr. Deepak Chopra and his co-authors talk about how purposely varying food tastes for each meal affects our holistic health, and how our appetite is a key, regulating internal indicator.

I have interviewed Dr. Chopra before, in person, and can almost hear his voice in the introduction and first couple of educational chapters. The recipes are simple and easy to follow.

5-0 out of 5 stars Fantastic cookbook
This cookbook is great, the recipes are absolutely delicious, but the most important part of this book is the spiritual aspect that goes along with cooking and eating food. Eating is important for all the obvious reasons, but really nourishing yourself is an incredibly important part of living a vital, healthy life. Everything from the type of food we choose, to the way we prepare it, to the mood we create everytime we sit down to eat, affects our life and health. Book Description

John Edward, Suzane Northrup, and George Anderson are just a few of the prominent American mediums who have been accused of being frauds. But what if a respected scientist challenged them to make contact with the beyond under controlled laboratory conditions? What if the results not only stunned a skeptical scientist but also offered astonishing answers to a timeless question: Is there life after death?

Risking his academic reputation, Dr. Gary E. Schwartz asked well-known mediums to become part of a series of experiments to prove, or disprove, the existence of an afterlife. This riveting narrative, with electrifying transcripts, documents stringently monitored experiments in which mediums attempted to contact dead friends and relatives of "sitters" who were masked from view and never spoke, depriving the mediums of any cues.

Here are the results that awed sitters and researchers alike: a revelation about a son's suicide, what a deceased father wanted to say about his last days in a coma, the transformation of a man's lifelong doubts about the afterlife, and, most amazing of all, a forecast of a beloved spouse's death. Forced by data to abandon skepticism, Schwartz presents this amazing account of his groundbreaking work, compelling from first page to last. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Outstanding Book on Psychic Mediums
The Afterlife Experiments is a fabulous and very well written book. I have probably read hundreds of books on the subject. This unique book is by far my favorite (I have read it twice already!). Pay no mind to the negative reviews as I cannot fathom how one can rate this fascinating book poorly. As you read the book you get the feeling that the author has tremendous integrity. Gary Schwartz goes to great lengths to eliminate any possibility of fraud in testing the mediums under very controlled conditions in a laboratory setting. In my opinion this book provides very compelling evidence for the legitimacy of psychic mediumship. Some of the information the mediums bring forward is truly mind-boggling! Does this prove definitively that there is an afterlife? Probably not - but the "living soul hypothesis" as discussed by the author seems to be the best explanation. I have absolutely no doubt that the famous mediums tested by Gary Schwartz are the real deal. The greatest tricksters or magicians in the world clearly cannot do what these mediums have done. Read this wonderful book and decide for yourself.

4-0 out of 5 stars The Soul Hypothesis
The Afterlife Experiments is an interesting depiction of scientific data collected from various experiments involving the life after death hypothesis.
Schwartz presents the reader with a baffling premise; Is there a survival of consciousness after the deterioration of our physical bodies? He dared strive beyond public humiliation to investigate this hypothesis. However, can this evidence be completely plausible?
Schwartz begins his acclaimed soul studies by examining the existence of well-known mediums. Experiments are carefully documented; the first requiring the presence of unknown sitters. In this first experiment, mediums were allowed yes and no answers. Of Course, this process seems very skeptical. Mediums could easily read information that the sitter subconsciously conveys by answering a simple "yes" or "no". Realizing this could be possible, Schwartz turned to more complex methods of experiments, in which mediums did not see the sitter and the sitter remained silent for a certain period as well. Interestingly enough, mediums received less correct information during silent period.
These experiments seemed legitimate enough but there seems to be a few flaws. First of all, how exactly does the existence of mediums prove the soul or life after death hypothesis? I realize that mediums supposedly talk to dead people, but I find this hard to swallow. In the various experiments, Schwartz claims that data revealed proved telepathy and other methods such as cold reading false. But in order to rule out these possibilities, shouldn't these methods be thoroughly examined as well? The sitters in the experiment honestly reported the results of correct or incorrect information. But how do we know if these sitters are entirely truthful? It almost seems as if the author commits a certain fallacy; appeal to authority. How do we know these personal experiences are truthful and legitimate? Is the author clouded by belief, and because of this is willing to let this belief guide his thinking? The development of a scientific hypothesis requires looking for evidence that disproves the theory as well. However, it appears that the evidence proving the hypothesis was taken in more consideration that the evidence disproving the theory.
Throughout the whole novel, my interest level was high, for the mediums did reveal some compelling information, and I am in awe on how. Did Gary Schwartz really satisfy the scientific audience with his compelling evidence? You be the judge, but for now we can dream.

1-0 out of 5 stars No Science in These Experiments
The book is not evidence of an afterlife nor of telepathy. Those two phenomena may well exist, but this book does nothing to evince it.

For detailed reviews, I suggest the Skeptical Inquirer (sorry, I don't know which volume off the top of my head),, or the Forum at For a quick list of flaws, though, I'll give it a shot:

-There is no hypothesis put forth which the experiment attempts to demonstrate or falsify.

-The protocols are ludicrously porous; Schwartz claims that cheating is not possible but a reading of the book reveals myriad opportunities for cheating by the medium and for cold reading (for instance, and this is not the worst of it: Schwartz says the sitters give no feedback, but they consistently do

-Schwartz's statistical analysis contains sophomoric errors, particularly where he averages "accuracy"

-The "control" survey done is not a control at all and is instituted after and differently than the actual experiments

-Schwartz refuses to say how he turns a subjective sitter determination of accuracy (on a scale of -3 to +3) into a percentage accuracy; he just does it

-Only one complete transcript is shown (and that's not really complete in that it leaves out the "mood setting" introduction by medium George Anderson); only snippets of some others are shown; the vast majority are not referenced at all

-One John Edward is missing with the sitter, Schwartz takes the sitter's place and counts the information as hits for him

There's plenty more, but the holes in this book are huge. It is not remotely science. You can determine that by noting that Schwartz does not publish it in scientific journals; he publishes it in the media. He then refuses to share the actual data with anyone.

The experiments are worthless. Schwartz demonstrates nothing.

Buy the book if you are interested in how people deceive themselves and others by donning the trappings of science while avoiding its rigors, but do not buy it if you want actual science demonstrated.

And, yes, I have communicated my thoughts to Schwartz.

4-0 out of 5 stars A Must Read for the Truly Objective
Gary Schwartz' After Life Experiments may not be the best book I've ever read, but it certainly may be one of the most important. Schwartz' willingness to stake his professional career and academic credentials in pursuit of the question of whether human consciousness survives death is nothing if not courageous, and his book echoes that daring approach to a subject "real" science has chosen to consistently ignore. This book, I believe, will be remembered as the forerunner of a host of similar works in the future, and may be looked upon by future generations as a watershed work in the field of parapsychology.

That being said, I will not do another chapter by chapter critique of the book, for the contents have been well covered by other reviewers. What I do want to discuss is how it is being reviewed. I find it most curious that it either consistently receives five stars and high praise (often by apparently cogent, intelligent reviewers) or one star and some turgid two sentence review to the effect "this is all nonsense." There's almost nothing in between these two extremes. Obviously, it has hit a few raw nerves and is being set up as the biggest challenge for the skeptical community to date. It's fascinating to observe to what extent debunkers will go in their efforts to silence an author's work, and wonder if that's a sign of their intellectual superiority or evidence of some deep seated fear. I really don't know, but I find it an interesting phenomenon in any case.

As for the book, I strongly advise anyone with even a modicum of objectivity to read it. It may not change your life, but it's certain to change a few minds or, at very least, get you thinking. A nice read.

Book Description

A fifteen-year-old boy is walking through a swirling fog on his way to school when a voice calls out, "Come here. We need to talk." Out of the mist emerges an old man with a white beard. He is a fantastic figure, as wizardly as Merlin, as wise as Socrates, as peaceful as Buddha. Whoever he is, the old man has appeared on that very day to change the boy's life.

"You are old enough to learn about things," he says mysteriously. "And who is going to teach you but me?"

The old man gives the boy four days of "soul training," a time of riddles, tricks, parables, and fantastic twists that bring out surprising answers to each of four burning questions about spirituality:

Do I have a soul?
How do wishes come true?
What is the supreme force in the universe?
How can I change the world?

The boy was Deepak Chopra, who grew up to become an acclaimed writer and teacher about the same invisible things that the old man had taught him. Fire in the Heart is Dr. Chopra's first book for young adults. Its aim is to pass on this soul training to young readers.

"The old man with the white beard showed me the spiritual side of life," writes the author, "where real passion and excitement come from. So before you begin, take a deep breath. This story could turn out to be yours."

"[Spirit is] everywhere, making sure that everything is connected. The light from a star billions of light years away is the same light that makes plants grow here on earth. The plants give food; the food has allowed you to develop in your mother's womb; and today you look at that star with the eyes that the stars gave you. There's the cosmic connection."

5-0 out of 5 stars Rich and nourishing
Magical Beginnings, Enchanted Lives is a deeply nourishing and inspiring book for expectant mothers, their partners and attendants.

Drawing on the centuries-old philosophies of Ayurveda and yoga, Deepak Chopra and his Chopra center colleagues David Simon MD and Vicki Abrams (who runs the Magical Beginnings birth education programme) have created a rich blend of mind-body medicine for pregnancy and childbirth that recognises childbearing as a spiritual, as well as a physical, process.

Magical Beginnings, Enchanted Lives is both beautifully written and practical, offering excellent information on nutrition (from an Ayurvedic perspective), alternative remedies for pregnancy complaints and a simple pregnancy yoga routine. Chopra and co also emphasize the many benefits of meditation during pregnancy. Throughout, there is a gentle emphasis on slowing down, being mindful and paying attention to our internal signals.

As a family physician, writer on pregnancy birth and mothering, and mother of four (with a large collection of pregnancy and birth books!) I particularly welcomed the chapter for fathers and the advice on changing relationships, which are not often covered. Chopra et al advocate Dr Marshall Rosenberg's nonviolent communication (NVC) techniques which are wonderful tools to enhance conscious communications.

I also relished the philosophy, woven all through this enlightening book, of respect for mother and baby and for the amazing changes that happen over the months of pregnancy and birth.

New insights in mind-body medicine are confirming the traditional wisdom that a mother's mental and emotional state in pregnancy can have long-lasting effects on the well-being of her child. Magical Beginnings, Enchanted Lives provides the tools and insights to help us all to nourish our babies and ourselves at this important time. As the authors conclude,`The souls of our children are the potential for tomorrow's world.' ... Read more

2-0 out of 5 stars Comments from the spiritual reviewer
Chopra tells us "there is a fundamental mystery to the soul, that its integrity is not violated by merging with another person. The blending of two spirits brings more to the union than each person started with." (pg 158) This idea is thousands of years old, predictable, and still very popular. But if spirit is already whole, perfect, and needing nothing, how could it be made more perfect by merging with another? Chopra further asserts that "when they are fully committed in love, the husband sees God in the wife and the wife sees God in the husband." (Pg 160) Yet for many people romantic relationships distract from and substitute for God. This fundamental problem is not addressed.

Even more importantly, Chopra does not directly explain how to deal with the presence of hate in the mind. As we all know from our own first-hand experience, there is nothing quite like a close personal relationship to bring out disillusionment and hatefulness. From a spiritual perspective, the path to love must be strategically and relentlessly concerned with the undoing of hate in the mind that we all hold for self and others. It is only by transcending or transmuting hate that we are able to know self as a loving being and to extend unshakeable love for others.

The bottom line: Chopra presents a complicated and confusing message about love which makes it difficult to get reading traction. The Spiritual Reviewer gives it an overall score of 3.4 on a scale of 1 (low) to 10 (high).

5-0 out of 5 stars Full of insights about the Self, Love, and relationships
Being unfamiliar with the writings of Deepak Chopra when I first got this book, I didn't think, judging by the size of it, that it would take me that long to read, or that I would have any trouble understanding some of the concepts that were presented to me. Boy, was I wrong. This book is so full of knowledge that you will have to read it a couple of times to get the full understanding of what the author is saying. Not that this is by any means a bad thing. I have been reading the Conversations with God series on and off for about five years now, and every time I read it I learn something new. It is quite similiar with this book. Like anything, though, you have to approach it with an open mind, otherwise the overall message of the book will be lost. Still, it provides many unique insights into what love actually is, how to attain bliss within a relationship, and several meditations that will help you achieve what the author is talking about at the present time. For instance, when talking about how the ego influences needs within a relationship, a meditation will be presented to you whose purpose is to try to chip away at the ego.

Again, this book is full of information, and will probably keep you busy for a while. Learning these concepts takes a while, but once you get them, you will most likely see a change in your life, relationships, and viewpoint of what love actually is. I know I did.

5-0 out of 5 stars The East-West path to Love
A wonderfully healing book combining Western psychological insight and Eastern spiritual wisdom to unlock and unblock the heart and overcome the mental and emotional obstacles to manifesting soulful, spiritually loving relationships and sustained passionate romance that can last a lifetime.

Good exercises and step-by-step guidance to discovering and unblocking your true feelings and looking within your own heart and soul to find your "Path to Love".

5-0 out of 5 stars Inspiring and Revelational
Chopra takes you on a journey into the heart and soul of human existence. He shares how we are each motivated by love to create the world we are born into each moment. In so doing, we are reminded in THE PATH TO LOVE that living the life of our highest aspirations requires a surrendering of our whole self into unconditional love. -- Samuel Oliver, author of, WHAT THE DYING TEACH US: LESSONS ON LIVING.

5-0 out of 5 stars Deepak instills a sense of compassion we should all have.

5-0 out of 5 stars Simply a wonderful stroy of myth and magic.
Becoming a Wizard isn't a process it's a journey. An awakening. I have expereinced a letting go and a change that I can only describe as magical. The words and thoughts that are on these pages are both mystical and transdescent. When the student is ready the teacher will appear, and when the teacher is ready the Master will appear, and when the Master is complete he will look no further because he will have arrived at the beginning and realized that he was a Wizard all along. This will happen to some of us sooner than others. There is no race, and no reward for the one who gets here first. There is plenty of room for all, and when we realize this truth, Ego leaves us and what we are left with is our spirit. This book will help you discover these insights.....

4-0 out of 5 stars Definitely My Way!
There has been a considerable flux of new yet ancient thought coming in at this time of the century that would challenge the current prevalent school of thought of the 1950's where I was planted. Because Deepak is a contemporary, he succeeds well in conveying the otherwise intangible stuff with such literary skill. His use of two narratives, the wizard and the apprentice is a wonderful way to guide us in our lessons throughout this book. Each chapter is a thorough lesson so it leaves me more than satisfied from a casual and light reading during my breaks. Deepak is a most gentle Master! This is my favorite of all his books!

5-0 out of 5 stars Empowering
This book shares how each of us contain seeds of awarness containing our own divinity. Everyone possesses an internal power to co-create in the world of form...a path born of choices. Inside is are inspiring visions and inclinations allowing a person to be filled with desires and intentions enabling us to discover who we really are.

3-0 out of 5 stars Pretty Good
Bing a LoTR/Arthurian fan, I thought this book might be interesting. Basically, the author's theory is that humans can become like Q from Star Trek through sheer willpower. That's not possible. I know when I was a kid and saw ST: TNG for the first time, I wished I was a Q. I'm not one. That may eventually be possible through evolution, but that'll take thousands of years. He also says that wizards are beyond good & evil. That's misleading at best, cultlike at worst. No one on Earth is beyond good & evil, no matter how much we would like to be.

While I don't agree with all of the author's ideas, there is wisdom to be found here. Also, if you want to read this as pure fiction, the prose is decently written.

5-0 out of 5 stars Perfect ... for those who are ready ...
I have been reading and studying works of theology, spirituality, philosophy and mysticism for over twenty years, following my own path and doing my best to discern truth from the writings of Christian, Hindu, Buddhist and other backgrounds. I have a library of treasured works that have helped me along a journey that has taken me from a time of profound confusion, doubt, dread, depression, anxiety and pain to a life of pervasive peace, consistent joy and ever growing love.

In that vast library of works, many of the books I've read I considered great ... exceptionally well suited to guide me through the particular phase of life through which I was going ... but NO book I've EVER read was MORE PERFECTLY written for where I am now in my life than The Way of the Wizard.

Having been on this journey as long as I have, I can see how this work would seem fluffy and insubstantial to many and perhaps even most people who would read it. Had it been around for me to pick up 20 or even 10 years ago, I'm quite certain I wouldn't have understood it much or considered it profound. But when I finished reading this book for the first time (which I did in one sitting), it was as if the book had been written specifically for me. It rang so true to the precise experience of life I've had for the past several decades that at points I laughed out loud from the pure joy of recognition.

Others have written about the contents of this book ... I've chosen to address the way it left me feeling. There are those of you out there for whom that will be the more telling review. You know who you are. ... Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars Another expert can't follow his own advice.
While I think the book has potential and clearly his concepts seem to have merit the big missing piece is not just knowing good concepts but practicing them. Have you seen this guy lately? Is he the embodiment of health? He is overweight and moves slowly. Advice that can't be practiced by the giver is weak advice. Enough of Deepak and Dr. Phil telling us to how to live healthy when they can't seem to do that themselves.

1-0 out of 5 stars Why Follow an 'Anti-Aging' Guru who's Growing Old?
As the New York Times pointed out, Deepak Chopra is aging at the same rate as you. So why model yourself after an 'anti-aging' guru who's growing Old? Why not model yourself after an anti-aging guru who is "the only anti-aging guru who has actually stayed young"?

This is what Investor's Business Daily's Marilyn Much says about the anti-aging guru Elixxir.

If you want to stay young, The Elixxir Program is your best bet. It is based on the only scientific way to dramatically retard, even reverse, aging. And extend your maximum lifespan.

The book you want to read to introduce you to the anti-aging philosophy behind The Elixxir Program is The ImmorTalist Manifesto by Elixxir. Available on Amazon.

It is an incredible read. An Eureka experience. After that, search for Elixxir's website and find how to get the Executive Memo about The Elixxir Program.

The stakes are too high if you really want to fight off Old Age and Death. You cannot afford to listen to Chopra who claims that yoga and meditation can do the trick. They cannot. And you will grow old -- and overweight -- like Chopra.

I tried Chopra. Did not work. I tried The Elixxir Program. It works. I slimmed down to my college weight! They all wanted to kill me at my class reunion. And my blood works is that of a 21 year old.

Elixxir is the anti-aging guru to "the pampered set." But you can get The Elixxir Program by reading first The ImmorTalist Manifesto and then the Executive Memo about it.

The only scientific way to stay young. The only way!

3-0 out of 5 stars Science, Science & All Science............
First of all I got intrested in this book because i liked " 7 Spiritual Laws 0f Success".I got dissapointed when i finished this one.

Though the information was very good,But i think its more useful to some science student.Everyone is not M.D Like Him (Deepak Chopra ).

If you are beginner or Dont believe in concept of Ageless body then sure read it for science backing.

If you are common guy like me then Read 'Physical Immortality' Section from Linda Goodmans "Star Signs".

5-0 out of 5 stars Best available scientific secrets to look and feel young
Hi Guys,

In India I have seen people teach, and write on complex subjects as matematics in the age of 80s and 90s. Though India is nowhere in high life expectancy ranking. Some people I have noticed are so precise in their discernment and communication skills in 80s. These people are invariably spiritual. They observe weekly fasts etc. They are respected for their knowledge.

As Deepak points out the attitude of "I'm more responsible and progressing in wisdom" has made these people commited to groom their knowledge and teach them clearly to young people in a way that they love and respect them. These people are also so kind at heart. Deepak declares "Love is the ultimate Truth" in his teachings.

In this book the aging process is scienticifically explained so clearly. I was astounded to read the passage about Ayurveda, especially "Ayurveda is not focussed on healing, but to defeat death and open up the possibility of immortality". The facts about organ renewal, hormones of aging, metabolizing time are very informative.

3-0 out of 5 stars Good information but poor presentation
Deepak Chopra is normally a very good instructor and I have enjoyed some of his other works a great deal. This program had good information however the presentation was monotone and made me tired. I tried to listen to it a few times before I made it all the way through. The rythum that he speaks with on this tape is almost hypnotic and I could hardly stay awake. The information was good and thought provoking. If this is a program you really want, you may want to get the book and avoid the tape or CD. Overall Deepak Chopra is great, this one didn't meet his normal mark. Try his (Seven Laws) CD, it's fantastic. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Principles that we should all follow...
The A-Z Steps that Deepak has listed in his book are more than just "steps" to affluence. I think most, if not all of the steps listed, are great "principles" for everyone to live by. The author also indicates that these steps are not only going to provide an abundance of financial wealth but and abundance of anything we desire in life. This is most important for me in my growth as a person. I personally measure my success as something more than just financial wealth.

In order to fully appreciate the steps that he has listed, I think that it is a good idea to read a few pages each day or once a week in order to fully understand and make a habit of each step. The author suggests this as a method of becoming "aware" of each step.

Overall, a great book on personal growth. The principles he teaches are time tested and true. The only problem I found was that the author tends to get very deep into Quantum Theory and physics. I do not see the significance of discussing these topics in a book about personal growth and affluence in life.

5-0 out of 5 stars The First Step to Creating Affluence
I have read and reread this book for two years. I also own the audio cassette. This is not a "how to" book that lists step by step how to become wealthy as if you were building cabinets or installing a door. It is, however, a very powerful book that attempts to change the way one thinks. Creating affluence or building wealth requires an entirely different way of thinking that most of us were not taught as we were growing up. In order to change anything in your life, you must first change your thinking. This book teaches you this in an easy to read format. The Quantum theory is not as easy to understand, but it is necessary to explain how these thoughts and techniques work.

Much like any tool, it is only as effective as its user. If you do as the author suggests and read this book daily or listen to the tape, you will reap the rewards. You may not grasp all of it the first few times through.

I feel that it is only the first step. I would also recommend that one read the Rich Dad series after this one. If you haven't read Dale Carnegie's How to Win Friends and Influence People, you should read it as well.

5-0 out of 5 stars An Invaluable Approach In the Journey of Life
A clear and simple path to achieving affluence in all areas of one's life.

5-0 out of 5 stars great audiobook
This is an awesome CD/audiobook. Once again, Deepak shows me how to create anything I want. This is truly awesome source of enrichment information.

2-0 out of 5 stars I was expecting more from this cursory book
This book is quite short and can be read in about an hour.

Frankly, I was expecting more. It's really like a long brochure or outline rather than a book. While it did offer a few helpful points, it did not go enough in depth in expanding upon them. After reading this book, I felt like I had read an outline or a proposal to a book rather than an actual book. Thus, I regret my purchase of this book. ... Read more

Deepak Chopra, M.D., has emerged as one of the most powerful leaders in the revolutionary field of mind/body medicine. His extraordinary bestseller Quantum Healing explored the mind's connection to seemingly miraculous cures for cancer and other serious illnesses. Now, in Unconditional Life, he undertakes an even greater challenge: to explain how consciousness can lead the way to total freedom and perfect health. Unconditional Life brings together disciplines ranging from modern physics and neuroscience to the ancient traditions of Indian wisdom to show how our perceptions create our reality for good or ill--and how the outside world can be shaped by altering the world within. In a book filled with hope and inspiration, Dr. Chopra offers compelling proof of the power of consciousness and a daring new vision of our own unlimited potential. ... Read more

If you love yoga then you'll love this book! There's so much more to yoga than the physical postures that we have come to know. Yoga is a beautiful study, one that can really help deepen any spiritual practice. This book explains so much. I really enjoyed it, and will read it over and over again!

5-0 out of 5 stars For Yogis and Yoginis and the rest of us!
I enjoy yoga, and have been practicing since before it was popular! So far, pretty much all of the books I have read on the subject have been the "same old, same old." But this book is different. The Seven Spiritual Laws of Yoga is really special. It has helped me take my yoga practice to another level, where I can experience much more of the spiritual aspect of yoga. The Seven Spiritual Laws of Success has always been my favorite book in the whole world - so to have these laws applied to yoga is simply the ultimate! This book is definitely a winner - it belongs on every mat in every yoga studio, and on every bedside table for all of us "at home" practitioners. ... Read more
