5-0 out of 5 stars Best cancer book I have seen!
If you or someone you know has cancer, this is the book to start with.Easy-to-read look at:causes, twelve effective, alternative non-toxic "treatments", emotional and nutritional issues, and a closer look at the real ineffectiveness and dangers of conventional treatments(surgery, radiation, and chemotherapy). Includes contact information for obtaining each alternative treatment.
Main part of book is 384 pages followed by Recommended Resources, Five Big Environmental Cancer Triggers, References, and a thorough Index.
Alternatives are thoroughly explained and range from simple dietary methods to special supplements to clinics to go to for a range of treatments. These alternatives vary greatly in their difficulty and frequency of use and in their cost, but all are less expensive than conventional treatments both monetarily and in the toll they take on your body. These amazingly effectivealternatives not only Outsmart Your Cancer but work by improving your overall health!

5-0 out of 5 stars A Bright Light in a Sea of Darkness
For those of us who are fcing the challenge of cancer for the first time "Outsmart Your Cancer" is that bright light that separates factual information from hype and marketing.
It took months and more internet surfing than I care to remember, plus aggressively marketed literature, promising "valuable information", before I found this book, which is the only book on alternative, non-toxic, cancer treatments that is thoroughly and well researched, objective and written in plain, layman's language.
I strongly urge everyone facing this deadly disease to read this book in order to come to an informed decision relative to the appropriate treatment for your circumstances.Buy it now!

5-0 out of 5 stars The Best Book on Cancer Alternatives I've Read
If you have cancer, or are helping a loved one with cancer, you will want to read this book!I have read numerous books and websites on alternative cancer approaches and none so far has compared to Outsmart Your Cancer.Every chapter amazed me with new insights. But what really thrilled me was finding out about some truly powerful alternative treatments - such as the formula called "Protocel"-- that I had NEVER heard about before, but that could rid the body of cancer even in many late-stage, metastasized cases.Other treatments, like "Cesium High pH Therapy", were ones I had already read about but had only learned of the original form of it.It was quite impressive to read that a much more assimilable and effective way to do administer cesium has recently come out and involves the little-known use of liquid ionic minerals.Plus, the chapter on "How to Evaluate Conventional Methods" gave me more practical information for weighing the pros and cons of mainstream cancer treatments than I'd come across before - including 8 very helpful questions to ask your oncologist about the treatment he or she is recommending. I believe that anyone who reads this book will be amazed at how much they learn and will feel they have treatment options at their fingertips that are effective, obtainable, and affordable!

5-0 out of 5 stars The Best Way to Save Yourself from Your Cancer
You have just been diagnosed with CANCER! The big "C." It's not someone else - it's YOU, and if you just sit there stunned, you will DIE!! - Miserably! You must do something, so you start asking around to find out your options.

You have only two:
1. Let someone else decide what is best for you and give in to chemo, surgery, radiation, and all the accompanying medical horrors.
2. Take matters into your own hands, and save yourself.

If you decide to take charge of your own life, start by reading Outsmart Your Cancer. It is the result of some amazing research by Tanya Harter Pierce. This information would take years to find for yourself. The book is complete with information on all the major alternative non-toxic cancer treatments available today.

This is a wonderful book.I am still alive today because I used one of the approaches described in Outsmart Your Cancer - I chose the Protocel treatment because it is backed by solid science, and it is a therapy compatible with my busy lifestyle. The book has an excellent description of Protocel, its history, how to take it, and how-and-why it works.

Almost 18 months ago I was diagnosed with breast cancer (the tumor was larger than a big, solid walnut).Hoping to ward-off surgery, I went for chemotherapy. It was a lethal combination of three of the most deadly concoctions ever devised by humans. The side-effects are unspeakable.

After 5 months of chemo, there was little change in the tumor, and radical surgery was indicated.Somehow death was not as scary as the radical surgery, radiation, and more chemo.I refused. Two days later I read Tanya Harter Pierce's description of Protocel, and I got my life back.

If only I had read Outsmart Your Cancer before the chemo, I would have saved myself a lot of physical pain and heartache.Instead, thanks to Tanya's book and Protocel, I have not needed surgery and the tumor is almost gone.I still have my energy (I am doing pilates and taking tango lessons).

Outsmart Your Cancer tells you all you need to know to evaluate these different treatments and how to get back to health. It is a real bargain, - complete with contact information, names, and numbers. You will find your time and money was well-spent.

5-0 out of 5 stars NOW HEAR THIS all menopausal women: good food for thought!
As both a female and one over 45 who is in the menopausal phase of her life, this book is incredibly helpful because it gives one an alternate view, very different from what AMA and FDA guidelines stipulate. We are in control of our bodies and can ultimately make our own decisions, but only with enough subjective information to go by. Many physicians may not be open to natural hormone replacement, but there are many who are. Women just need to read this book, among others, to become better educated about their choices regarding controlled substances being ingested into the body.

1-0 out of 5 stars Half truths and scare tactics
I feel this book hurts the message that using alternatives to traditional medicine should be explored. This is one of many examples throughtout the book. On page 22 "In real numbers, this means that for every 1,000 women using one of these drugs, 300 will eventually develop breast cancer from the HRT itself." This sounds very scary but is flat out wrong. A 30% increase in risk is not a 30% risk as this book implies. In real numbers this means that instead of 100 women out of 1000 developing breast cancer 130 women out of 1000 would develop breast cancer on HRT. Not to mention that a lot of studies do not show such a high increase in risk. How can anyone trust the assertions of this book if in the first 22 pages there are such blatant untruths.

5-0 out of 5 stars what every woman should know
As a practicing pharmacist, it upsets me that such basic knowledge of hormones was not taught in school. Doctors aren't even taught some of the basic information Dr. Wright discusses in this book. I wish all women would read this book and I wish all doctors would open their minds to the information presented in it. For all the thousands of women I know to be using natural hormone replacement therapy, I don't know a single "unhappy customer".

5-0 out of 5 stars A Must-Read for All Women Over 40
Like many women, I thought the only way to deal with perimenopause and menopause was with Premarin [made with pregnant horse estrogen, Yuck] and other hormones pushed by large pharmecuetical companies. This book was a real eye opener for me. It explains how the estrogens naturally found in a woman's body can't be patented, because they are just natural bodily hormones. Therefore, the drug giants who court all the doctors have no financial incentive to tout naturally occurring hormones. Instead, they push the horse estrogens, and other unnatural products, which cause side effects.

This book explains how a woman with a good doctor can get a pharmacy to mix a custom-blended natural hormone replacement with few, if any, side effects, because it's what's in your body already.

I took this book to my doctor who said of course he'd be happy to prescribe natural hormones as suggested in the book. Had I not brought it up, I, too would have been prescribed that horrible Premarin or Prempro, made from the urine of pregnant [and abused] mares.

I've spoken with other women over 45-50 who take the horse estrogen, Premarin [the name comes from PREgnant MARe's urINe], and they were shocked that there was an alternative their doctors had never bothered mentioning.

Anyone interested in natural health should buy this must-read, and then discuss with your doctor.

5-0 out of 5 stars GREAT things come in small packages!
Don't let the size of this wonderful book, fool you. It's filled with life changing help for the maturing woman. The Whys & Hows of Natural "vs" Patented Hormone Replacement Drugs.... plenty of information on the "forgotten" hormone needs also. This book lets us KNOW the effect of Hormones on Cancer, Senility, Heart disease, Osteoporsis. Explains in clear detail, with resources. Advice on herbs & foods that make this transistion easier. 4-0 out of 5 stars A useful book for the experienced
There is no doubt this book is comprehensive, combining a variety of different styles of ear acupuncture in one book. There are lots of diagrams of ears showing you the location of the different points of the different styles, which can be a bit overwhelming and confusing for the newcomer. If you are experienced in this field and/or need to know this level of detail on ear acupuncture, this is the book for you. If you just want the basics of one form of ear acupuncture, I suggestgChinese Auricular Therapyh by Bai Xinghua (Scientific & Technical Documents Publishing House; ISBN: 7502322612), which is a good standard for Traditional Chinese Medicine practitioners.

4-0 out of 5 stars A true east-meets-west medical model
Terry Oleson's Auriculotherapy Manual is the most comprehensive text on the subject. If you are practicing Auriculotherapy (a system of ear acupuncture) or intending to do so, this manual is a must-have. This edition is a vast improvement over the previous, which was difficult to use. The new edition is certainly not easy to use, but it's an improvement. The subject is deceptively complex. Just sticking a needle in someone's ear is not Auriculotherapy--there is a level of understanding required to use the system effectively, and using a medical feedback mechanism is essential.

Though of course this book is derived from a great deal of Chinese Medical history, it is a very Western-oriented book. Auriculotherapy developed in France as a complete system thanks to Dr. Paul Nogier, so this is to be expected. For a practitioner to master Auriculotherapy, one must incorporate both viewpoints--no small challenge! I personally would like to see someone who knows Traditional Chinese Medicine to co-write the next edition. The book would double in size! I think the Chinese Medical Theory that the Auriculotherapy System derived from deserves to be re-incorporated and included, for the medicine to be whole and complete. This is what's lacking from this text.

This book is clearly directed at the student and practitioner of the medicine, and not directed at dabblers or patients. Auriculotherapy is a very serious undertaking, and this is a serious book. Auriculotherapy is very difficult to learn from a book alone.

This is the text I require in the Auriculotherapy class I teach at the Northwest Institute of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine.

5-0 out of 5 stars It's a wonderful book and well worth the small cost.
The book is very informative and easy to understand, interesting, and well written. ... Read more

Book Description

There is growing interest world wide in the field of mind-body medicine and the effect which the natural "energy forces" within the body play in the maintenance of normal health and wellbeing. This in turn has led to interest in how these energies or forces may be channelled to assist in healing and restoration to health. This book, written by a well known scientist with a degree in biophysics and a PhD in biology, brings together for the first time evidence from a wide range of disciplines which is beginning to provide an acceptable explanation for the energetic exchanges that take place in all therapies. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars A Solid Scientific Text
This book is a solid cornerstone of the bridge linking rigorous scientific theory and intuitive, energy healing techniques. I disagree with Paul Budnik's review stating that the Placebo Effect is not addressed in the book. True, it is only mentioned explicitly on page 17 (in as far as I've read so far...) but great lengths are taken to explain how a person's thought processes, including their beliefs about themselves, have a very real physical manifestation in the form of electrical pulses which generate magnetic fields which are detected by and affect the entire body.

Energy therapy such as polarity, Reiki, and acupuncture have been shown to work at the same frequency range of the electromagnetic spectrum as pulsed electromagnetic field (PEMF) therapy. PEMF has been used by Western medicine for some time to aid in the healing of bone which is not healing on its own. (See Bassett C A L 1995 Bioelectromagnetics in the service of medicine. In: Blank M (ed) Electromagnetic fields: biological interactions and mechanisms. Advances in Chemistry Series 250. American Chemical Society, Washington DC, pp 261-275)

All in all, a fascinating and thorough exploration of an important, emerging field. A must for anyone involved in or curious about bodywork, energy work, or any form of medicine.

5-0 out of 5 stars Exceptional compilation of research
I received this book from Amazon a few days ago and am halfway through it. I'm so impressed by Oschman's compilation of research - it's provided me with countless answers I've been seeking all my life. I am a degreed mechanical engineer, and am currently getting an advanced degree in Oriental Medicine. I've also been practicing Reiki and other energy healing modalities for several years, having been drawn into these alternative healing fields because of my natural ability for sensing subtle energies ever since I was little. Until I started reading Oschman's book I never had a scientific explanation for this energy or why it was so helpful in healing others. I've always known that these energies are real but I definitely appreciate a scientific explanation for any type of energy phenomenon - it makes it much easier to explain to others who haven't had similar experiences why and how they happen. I meet a lot of people who are interested in energy healing and some who are quite skeptical of its validity. Thanks to this book, I now have a clear way of explaining what I and countless others have known all along - that energy medicine really does work. If you're simply curious about why energy medicine works, or you're a practitioner yourself and have wanted a scientific way of explaining its validity to your friends and clients, you'll definitely appreciate this book (even with the $40 price tag). Keep in mind, however, that this book will not teach you how to practice any of these energy medicine techniques - it will simply give you a very clear and easy way to explain why they work.

5-0 out of 5 stars The communicating whole
Oschman did something quite exceptional in this book; he expressed my understanding of the way living things work, but went beyond my dark intuitive sense of the significance of the whole, to a crisp, intellectual, yet poetic, expression of the parts in relation to that whole

5-0 out of 5 stars expansive, objective, thorough
The problem with many books on all types of energy healing are the moments when well-meaning but hopelessly uninformed authors try to explain the "why" of their practice. Why does energy healing work? What is the physiological mechanism for this phenomenon? While authors whose practice is informed by their psychic knowledge (Barbara Brennan, Rosalyn Bruyere, etc.) are certainly valuable, James Oschman is successful in this book because he is first and only a scientist. He has no agenda to defend the validity of energy healing at all costs. In fact, you get the sense that he would be just as happy DISproving the phenomenon. And his objectivity in showing that in fact there IS a scientific basis for the practice is what makes this book absolutely priceless.

The topics covered are surprisingly far-ranging. I was even skeptical of some of the chapter headings, but the author is so reasonable, and his claims so well-documented that even the most open-minded might find themselves taking a new look at topics they never considered. The chapters on crystal healing and the emotional impact of posture, respectively, were for me particularly fascinating. Some of the most fascinating scientific reading I've done in years.

His description of the physical body as a liquid crystalline system, the mechanics of how movement strengthens this system, and how the physical liquid crystal interacts with and is the basis for the energetic system is remarkably beautiful. There are many moments where the scientific meets the spiritual in this book and it's so beautiful.

What this book is not: This book is not an instruction manual. I noticed at least one other review seemed to say it was an instruction manual. There are no instructions as to how to practice any of the many techniques covered. The book is for people who already know how to do these things or people who don't want to know HOW but rather WHY IT WORKS. A fabulous reference for those who would like to give clients a more lucid explanation for why various forms of energy healing might work, or at least more current theories on the topic.

Worth the price of the book for the bibliography alone.

5-0 out of 5 stars Essential reading in energy medicine
While most people have had a cardiogram, few know that Einthoven won a Nobel prize in 1924 for discovering how to record the electromagnetic field of the heart. Even fewer know that this field is now detectable from 15 feet away from your body and that every cell has an electromagnetic field that can alter its behavior when manipulated. Thus the basic work has already been done to chart the direction for building a StarTrek Tricorder which can detect a diseased energy pattern and manipulate it towards health. Somes devices are already on the market that, while primitive compared to a Tricorder, do the job remarkably well.

A previous reviewer mentioned the placebo effect. Most scientists don't know that every patient in Stanford Medical Center when I was there studying biostatistics was in a clinical trial in order to take advantage of the placebo effect on all patients, not just the ones getting a new treatment. The National Institute of Medicine, notes in a recent publication, that the brain changes induced by opiates are the same as that induced by a placebo effect. It is far safer and often more affective to induce a placebo effect, than give a drug with negative side effects, particularly when the response is the same or better.

Enough said. These comments suggest that ignorance of the scientific literature in this field is widespread, even among leading scientists, and the first prescription for the brain disfunction resulting from this lack of knowledge is Oschman's book. I recommend it to all my colleagues. ... Read more

Book Description

New research suggests that most back pain is caused by underdeveloped multifidus muscles, those that connect the spinal vertebrae and are crucial in bending the back. This book presents exercises to strengthen the multifidus group. Simple explanations and black-and-white drawings throughout show readers how to work with these muscles. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars A Good Resource...
This book is a good resource for someone suffering from back pain and is interested in trying some new exercises. Mr. Johnson bases just about everything he says in this book on the results of "randomized, controlled trials". His arguments are acceptable and he always provides convincing evidence. My only problem is that there is little discussion about sports related back injuries. I also had a problem with the fact that there is only 1 picture of the multifidus and it's not that great.

The section "things every back pain sufferer needs to know" was excellent and I learned a lot from it. Overall this book was ok, but somehow, I finished the book and still wanted more.

5-0 out of 5 stars This is what I've been waiting for!
If you have back pain and don't know about your multifidus you should. It just may be the key to solving all your back problems. I am most impressed with the amount of studies cited in the book and the exercises require no special equipment. Well worth the 12 bucks!

4-0 out of 5 stars Important in the rehab of low back pain
As a physical therapist, I found that the information in this book is actually helpful and relevant for low back pain patients. It does provide the latest research on the multifidus and it's relation to back pain. Will the exercises here cure ALL back problems? No, but strengthening the multifidus as well as the abdominals is one of the key elements in the rehabilitation and management of low back pain. The information in this book is not at all "ignorant" as stated by a previous reviewer. I have used these exercises for my patients with good results.

1-0 out of 5 stars Ignorant
As a chiropractor I can tell you that obviously this author does not know that the main spinal stabilizers in your back aren't under conscious control. YOU CANNOT STRENGTHEN THEM WITH STANDARD REHAB EXERCISES. The multifidus group aren't involved in stabilization and closed chain motion, but rather are functional in open chain motion. To put this in layman's terms, they are important when lifting stuff, but have little to do with posture and walking.....where muscle atrophy causes problems in back pain. To work THOSE muscles, you need to do it indirectly, for example, by doing balance exercises with a wobble board, or better yet, fix the bad habits that are at the root of the problem by the Alexander Technique. Additionally, most back pain is actually caused by chronic disc degeneration. The authority on how, why, and what to do about it is Cox's book, Low Back Pain. Do yourself a favor, see your chiropractor.

1-0 out of 5 stars Detrimental Book
This book has some useful factual information but unfortunately most of the information is based on illogical conclusions from other research.
The most outrageous statement was that one should not sit straight but should slouch. As an Alexander Technique teacher I know that assertion to be incorrect. The authors further stated that sitting straight put more pressure on the spine. The problem may be that the authors do not know what is really sitting straight. When a person sits straight, the vertebrae rest on eachother in the optimal manner. Slouching destroys discs.

Also they only had 3 exercises. [...] ... Read more

Fitness guru Denise Austin helps you "zero in on your personal trouble spots" while increasing metabolism with this 6-week exercise and eating program. Her formula includes toning workouts that target the waist, thighs, abs, buttocks, hip, lower back, and upper arms; regular walking and stretching; and eating strategies (not dieting). Her tips are refreshingly sensible: Avoid chronic dieting (it hurts your health and makes you fatter), stretch to decrease stress, fill up on high-fiber foods, eat a balanced diet, build muscle to increase calorie-burning, and walk almost every day. Austin's clearly illustrated and varied exercises use body weight, dumbbells, resistance bands, or a stability ball. A sample exercise schedule takes 15 to 60 minutes a day. For especially busy days, she offers a series of exercises that work two or more muscle groups at once.Austin's "Shrink-Fat Eating Plan" emphasizes portion control, 1,400 to 1,800 calories, and a nutritional breakdown of 24 percent "good" fat, 20 percent protein, and 56 percent high-quality carbs. Whether you just want a foundation to get started or you need a structured, daily program (including menu plans, shopping lists, and daily logs), you can find it here. Profiles of happy and successful followers of the program add interest. Highly recommended. --Joan Price

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Book for New Moms
I'm 5'4" and have always weighed 115-120 lbs. After giving birth to my daughter, I weighed 147 pounds. I didn't exercise during my pregnancy, and I didn't start trying to re-gain my pre-pregnancy figure until after my 6-week postpartum check-up. The first time I went to the gym, I came home crying, because I was very much out of shape, and unable to accomplish anything on familiar weight machines. Instead of heading back to the gym, I ordered this book, and now I'm back down to 115 lbs. My friends and family keep telling me how great I look for someone who just had a baby three months ago.
This program has been great for me, as a new mother. 1) The exercise program includes a lot of walking, which my baby loves!
2) The recipes are quick and easy to prepare. 3) Denise has written out grocery lists which save me tons of time.
This book is great for busy new moms who want to shed pounds from pregnancy.

5-0 out of 5 stars finally losing weight after two babies
I read the book in a couple of days while nursing my second baby. I can do the workout with my baby and toddler. It is four days of walking and four days of toning muscles using wieghts. I finished week 1 : portion control on the diet plan. I can finally fit into my jeans while doing the strength toning (not recommended). I loved the DVD. The eating plan in the book is just as wonderful. And I can do it while nursing a seventeen pound baby. I love it!

5-0 out of 5 stars It Works
My sister used this book to lose weight she had put on after having a baby-and she was never exactly skinny to begin with. Without too much strain, she has managed to put on 80 lbs. by sitting around, eating bon-bons, and reading this book!Just Kidding!

Alright, I know this is serious stuff to some people. The truth is she now looks great, and the attention she gets from guys has increased dramatically-usually it decreases after having a baby, so that's saying something. I think women everywhere should give this a try, but my sister should trade her copy for a box of chocolate bars so I don't have to worry about her so much!

If you know a fat woman, get her this. Sorry, I'm just having a hard time taking this seriously.

4-0 out of 5 stars A realistic way to lose weight!!
She gives it to you honestly, and like any diet plan, you will lose weight. But with her diet she doesn't eliminate certain food groups like breads and fruits. She gets you moving with her motivational words and years of expereince. The DVD is a great complement to the diet plan, and don't forget her FREE morning workouts on the Lifetime Channel! 5-0 out of 5 stars Partial Differential Equations and Boundary Value Problems
I think this book is Possibly the best Mathematic book for Engineer I've ever read. This is due to the fact that the material is so much clear and the examples are so easy to follow. The book's explanation is precise and accurate. The exercises on every chapter are helpful. I practise almost most of the exercise problems. In fact, I score an "A" on the first Test. I will recommend it to everyone without hesitation.

5-0 out of 5 stars Initial impressions
Nakhle: Just a quick note to thank you for your book! It arrived Thursday, and I've been reading it and doing the exercises both on paper and in Mathematica 3.0. After a quick review of the whole book and a thorough reading of the first 70 pages so far, I can say I just love it! If I'd only had a book like this in college and graduate school I'd have become a much better electrical engineer. Yours is one of the best expositions of both Fourier series and partial differential equations I've used. Although I haven't gotten very far into the boundary value problems and the orthogonal functions areas of the book yet, my initial review indicates they will be excellent also. I am enjoying your book immensely, and I thank you very much for it. I'll update this with a more thorough review when I have a chance to finish the book, but I wanted to share my initial impressions so others might weigh them into their own decisions to get this excellent book.

5-0 out of 5 stars A clear introduction to PDEs, Fourier series
This text not only provides a simple and easy-to- read-the-first-time guide to solving PDEs with Fourier series, it also is chock-full with all the necessary details and includes many interesting problems. I took a course out of this book as a sophomore in college and found it very interesting and useful. The style and difficulty is very similar to a typical undergraduate ordinary differential equations book, except this is better organized.

The subjects include a small bit on characteristics for first-order equations, a chapter on trigonometric series, PDEs in rectangular, polar, and spherical systems and associated eigenfunction expansions, Sturm-Liouville theory, the fourier transform, Laplace/Hankel transforms for PDEs, grid-type numerical methods, sampling & discrete Fourier analysis, and quantum mechanics (the Schrödinger equation).

This book is definitely great for applied mathematicians, physicists, or engineers who really need a solid introduction to the topic, written by someone who knows all the details. Any treatment in "mathematical physics" courses on PDEs will fall short of this book's content.

Of particular importance are the inclusion of special sections for Bessel functions, Legendre polynomials, associated Legendre functions, spherical harmonics, etc. All the details of solution and many exercises are included.

The most interesting parts of the book are towards the end, with the Sampling Theorem and discrete Fourier transform; and the proof of Heisenberg's uncertainty principle.

This book is also useful for more theoretical mathematicians or mathematical physicists who need an introduction to PDEs before taking a more difficult course on general theory.

In short, I think that even though this book is of great utility to non-mathematicians, it is proper to learn these concepts and techniques in a proper math setting where care is taken. This text is a solid foundation for confident application and a springboard towards more advanced subjects. ... Read more

Book Description

This book proves that Psoriasis, a chronic inflammatory skin disease, as well as Eczema, can be alleviated, controlled and even healed in a natural way; that is, without the use of drugs, steroid creams, tar baths or even ultra-violet light.

The book views psoriasis, as well as eczema, as originating in the intestinal tract. Looked at from the inside out, rather than from the outside in, a whole new approach to the disease evolves. This concept identifies the problem as a build up of toxins (poisons) in the system which make their way out through the skin, but does not originate in the skin. Dr. Pagano defines psoriasis as the external manifestation of the body's attempt to throw off internal toxins.

Because of thin, porous, intestinal walls these toxic elements "seep" through the walls of the intestine (now referred to as "The Leaky Gut Syndrome"), causing a pollution of the lymphatic and blood circulatory system.

The body then attempts to rid itself of these toxins by expelling them through the sweat glands. Dr. Pagano further emphasizes that a proper DIET and adequate ELIMINATIONS are a major part of the solution. This book proves the efficacy of this theory by documented case histories, patient affidavits and striking before and after photographs. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Just Like My Mom Said, Heal Yourself From The Inside Out
Two and a half years ago, my daughter and I were diagnosed with a mild case of eczema. I went looking for natural remedies. I was attracted to the title of this book as well as the photos on the back. It looked like the patches on my face and arms. I saw that there was a chapter on eczema as well. I followed the diet recommendations for Psoriasis and it didn't take long to notice the difference. I did the 3 day diet and made revisions for my daughter to benefit because she couldn't do it fully (she only weights 99 lbs). I also made lotions and body oils with the peanut oil Dr. Pagano suggested and other herbs. Along with the diet change, the peanut oil mix just seemed to lift off the dried reddened skin and reveal healthy skin. After I washed it off I didn't see the patches as clearly and after about 2 months, they were not even red anymore. All I could see was the darkened skin where they once were, then that evened out with lots of cocoa & shea butter. If it wasn't for this book, I'd still be wearing a ton of foundation make-up and ashamed to show off my skin in the summer and I'd be embarrassed whenever someone looked at the patches on my face. I was always afraid that they could see under the make-up. Our skin is smooth and clear now. No more itching and no more red patches. Thank you Dr. Pagano. ~Blu

5-0 out of 5 stars A True Miracle
I'm not sure what else to say about this book that hasn't been said. If you have psoriasis, you owe it to yourself to give it a try. It's not easy to change diet habits, but you will feel so much better. I did not have the quick results, it took about 4 months for me to clear and the condition got worse before better (as the book states). I recommend identifying a friend to help you with support. I know I would have given up without it. But the diet will work if given time. I only wish I would have taken pictures before and after because sometimes I don't believe it myself. It's been about 6 months now, and I cheat a little, but stay away from the nightshades. I remain 90% clear, I've lost weight (not a bad side effect), and I feel much healthier. I owe Dr. Pagano for giving me back my self confidence.

5-0 out of 5 stars You are what you eat and this book proves it !!!!!!
I've been plagued with this disease for almost 7 years now and have 50% of my body covered with sores. I have been to the Cleveland Clinic and many other doctors searching for relief. After great expense, I was no better off afterwards than before, sometimes in worse shape. I have tried EVERYTHING to get rid of of this to no avail!!!!!

When I came to this book I was doubtful but like every other suffer desperate for relief, I forwarded the link to my wife and she bought the book. I have been doing this for almost a week now and I am starting to see the results, even though I haven't followed it to a "T". Yeah the teas are horrible, but other than that it is not bad - better than the disease. So if you are also plagued with Psoriasis, I HIGHLY recommend this book and the lifestyle change it promotes. Yes I miss my steak and potatoes, but that's life - time to move on.

As for the one review that states it all stress related, this individual surely doesn't have psoriasis. I am a Network Administrator and my day is nothing but stress filled, like almost every other American out there, but yet I am healing.

I eat more fruits and veggies than ever before, drink my water, eat my fish and chicken, salads, drink my teas (YUCK) and almost all other things recommended - sorry I'm not perfect - but it is working.

So in summary when your momma said you are what you eat - believe her - GOD gave her wisdom - just follow it and eat right. I'll do a follow up review in 3 months, prayerfully I will continue to heal and be done with this once and for all.

5-0 out of 5 stars Doesn't just clear psoriasis
My 11 year old son had moderate to severe psoriasis covering about 40% of his body. After 2 1/2 months on the diet, the lesions merely show up as lighter colored patches of skin, as opposed to the red, scaly, flaky patches they used to be. I'm sure the skin will fully normalize with time. He no longer finds the diet difficult, since it is more important to him to have normal skin.

For moral support, I have been on the diet with him, even though I don't suffer from psoriasis. The wonderful offshoot of this is that my skin has cleared up beautifully. I often used to have red splotches and marks on my face. It is now smoother, more even colored, and my skin is much softer. Many people have noticed. I intend to stay on a version of this diet permanently because I'm sure it must be what my body needs.

5-0 out of 5 stars Psoriasis is Gone!!
I had psoriasis for over 25 years, mainly it was on my elbows and one knee. In the last couple years I developed a patch on my right leg, about 3 inches wide and 7 inches long. About April of last year, 2003, my psoriasis began getting worse. I had been to dermatoligists and doctors on occasion over the years, but none helped my condition. My brother has had a severe case of psoriasis for many years and has tried many treatments to no avail. My case wasn't real severe, so I just lived with it.
I began researching on the internet about more natural psoriasis treatments when I ran across Dr. Pagano's book, people who had written about it. It made sense to me because no ointments, creams or any external treatments seemed to help anyone that I had read about except for maybe a temporary clearing or partial clearing of symptoms. So I began to follow the diet as best as I could following what I had read on the internet about the diet contained in the book. After about 3 weeks I ordered the book thru Amazon. My psoriasis totally cleared up within 2 months of following the diet very closely. I didn't do the enemas, but had one colonic, which I decided never to do again. My problem was, my skin became VERY itchy and red. My psoriasis was gone, but it seemed I developed eczema. I was under lots of torment and would take a hairbrush to bed to brush my legs as they itched so bad. I would brush them until they hurt so I could sleep. My arms also itched and were red as well as my neck. This continued on for 5 months while I followed the diet pretty close, my wife was so very patient to make sure the meals we had were closely following the diet. I drank about a gallon of filtered water a day.
It was much improved, the itching and redness, by the time 6 months was up, but would not completely go away. One day I became aware of the atmosphere of the job where I work. I am an electrician at an industrial plant where they do metal plating with acids and chemicals. The ventilation is very poor there and even though I don't work near the plating line, the air has these chemicals and acid in it. I took off 10 days over this past Thanksgiving just to get away from breathing that air, to see if that would help. By the time I went back to work my skin was 90% clear. At the end of the first week back, my neck was red, sore and itching and the skin on my hands starting getting red and skin was sore. To make long story short, I quit my job there in February, and now am umemployed and looking for another job. My health is more important than a good job, as you can't buy your health, you have only one life to live. It has been now about 5 weeks away from there, and my skin is totally back to normal, no eczema and no psoriasis, 100% clear.
My conclusion, the psoriais I had was due to an overload of toxins in my body. That was totally clear after 2 months. The eczema, reddening and itching of my skin was the toxins being released. That didn't go away completely because of the chemicals and acids in the air where I worked. If I had not been working it that atmosphere, I'm sure I would have been symptom free of any skin ailment within 3 months. I would advise anyone to do this diet, it may be rough at first, but hang in there, it is worth it. You may wonder in the middle of it, as I did, but hang in there. There were times only sitting in the bath tub would give me relief, and I was at the point of tears a couple times, frustration and desperation, but now that it is over, it was really worth it!! My uncle had psoriasis for years and just died of cancer, of which he had for only a couple of years before it killed him. If you have psoriasis, you have an overload of toxins in your body, get this book and get rid of those toxins. Your psoriasis will clear up and hopefully prevent any worse diseases from developing. I am sold on eating healthy, natural, lots of fresh fruits and vegetables. You will be surprised how following the diet isn't so hard if you are determined to be free of psoriasis! ... Read more

Book Description

Why are prominent doctors and medical researchers all over the world interested in the extraordinary healings reported by the patients of Dr. Eric Pearl? What does it mean when these patients report the sudden disappearance of afflictions such as cancer, AIDS, and cerebral palsy? And what does it mean when people who interact with Dr. Pearl report a sudden ability to access this healing energy not just for themselves, but for others, too? What is this phenomenon?

Well, you might have to reconsider everything you've read up until now about conventional healing. The Anew@ frequencies of healing described by Dr. Pearl transcend Atechnique@ entirely and bring you to levels beyond those previously accessible to anyone, anywhere. This book takes you on Eric Pearl=s journey from the discovery of his ability to heal, to his well-deserved reputation as the instrument through which this process is being introduced to the world. But most important, The Reconnection reveals methods you can use to personally master these new healing energies. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars The "Reconnection" is for real
This is truly an inspired book and one that anyone can benefit from. Without a lot of jargon, Dr. Pearl has written what we all know in our souls - that we are all connected and that we all have the ability to use that connection to heal. Those who have stated that there is no science to his healing are missing the point. Medicine is not a science. It is an art. Just ask any honest physician and he/she will tell you.

I too have experienced increased vibration and energy in my hands. In fact, I used the energy to heal my cat who used to vomit at least twice a week (sometimes more). Since the reconnection energy, (two weeks ago) she has not spit up once!
There is something to this and it is really simple and useful.
Don't wait, just buy the book, read it and experience the energy for yourself.

3-0 out of 5 stars Don't expect miracles
Most of the book (2/3 of it) explains Dr Perl's life experience with this phenomina as well as his experiences growing up as a kid (on through adulthood). The last 1/3 of the book is devoted to "tecniques" that can be used to aid the user in his/her ability to use the healing arts (although he saids, that you cannot teach it). I've read other books that deal with healing with hands techniques as well, and they offer similar insights to this book. After reading the book, I tried this on myself... So far nothing has happened (he explains that for some poeple it may take weeks for the reconnection to occur). One thing that cannot be verified in this process is whether or not there is a sort of placebo effect of the book (somebody says that it works, and for many people a placebo does have some results). Not saying that the book does or does not work, it's just that I wouldn't expect any sort of miracles to happen after you've read the book. He claims that by reading his book, that you will receive the specific type of energy necessary in order supposedly open up pathways that may facilitate a greater potential for healing in an individual. Spiritually, I can understand why this might happen (it's like chemistry, you are about 75% of your own environment, unless you are a young soul, with older souls or with karmicly ridden people the percentage is higher. Coming into contact with other people of different levels of awareness and energy patterns preclude that you react to the other person in a certain type of way. You can see some evidence of this in astrology and numerology.). This is not to say, however, that this is actually happening. Different people will have difference experiences and I suspect, like with medicine and foods, different people will be impacted differently depending upon their own personal circumanstances. It didn't do much for me, but apparently from the other reviews it seems to be doing something for other people. If you can get it from the library or get it used, then there is very little to lose from reading it (other than money). Although some poeple will feel that they are getting conned after reading this book (especially if they don't see any results).

2-0 out of 5 stars more of the same
For a long tiume, I have heard about Eric Pearl, and decided to give the book a try, to find out what the fuss was all about. After reading the book, I am a bit baffled: After having been active in the healing and energy field for 30 years, I expected to find something new, but found all the elements that characterize a run-of-the-mill new age healing book from California:
1) Claims that this is a new level, a new energy or a new level of light. This is the main mrketing plot in new age circles to this very day: "Teacher A. brings a new level of energy": "others may bring some light, but master B. brings the highest light, a level the world has not seen befor, but you can be among the chosen to take part in this light - if you pay for the seminar".
Pearl's basic tenets fall right into this bracket, and are no different than any of the other claims.
2) Mythologizing of life events. A natural life development is twisted into something extraordinary. Truth is, so many thousands have (like me) had life-changing experiences with energy or light or another level breaking through. Each story is fascinating and special, like each life is. But some people have the need to link into Savior archetypes and make it into something more. What are their motives? They will get a power to make others follow them - but what happens in the long run - freedom or bondage?
3) "My approach is special". Instead of seeing that the field of energy work is like the parable of the blind men and the elephant - each different individual working their own different ways into exploring the potential of healing energy/consciousness, Pearl goes to great pains to explain that his approach is different from the others, but nowhere showing in what way it is, ending in an "all animals are equal, but some are more equal than others"-stance. He has a special healing energy, it is not a technique, etc.; Matthew Manning and a thousand others are saying the same, and having their followers contorting on stage. The "miraculous healings" follow the same patterns as scores of such seances I have witnessed in fundamentalist religious meeting - in Norway we have a magazine reporting such ocurrences from a Christian viewpoint, healing of blindness, deafness, AIDS, contorted back pain, etc. - Pearl's tales would go straight into these pages. But there is a difference. The Christian healings are free of charge.
4) This is not a technique (but you can take level 2), it is unique and not teachable (but for an exorbitant price you can get it from me). Pearl debunks other healers' "technical" approach, but ends in the same basic stance.
5) And this is my basic problem with Pearl'sa approach. What are his motives for using so much time to ridicule the work of others in the field, who are doing their sincere work, presumably from the same motives as his (but not attaining the same level of fame and fortune. Others painstakingly try to translate the energy experience into writing - Pearl easily debunks it as "tango". He uses the "new age" label denigratingly on others an astounding number of times, ignoring that he himself falls right smack in the middle of this category.
6) With his generous claims of heling serious diseases, he has a huge responsibility. Why does he not, then, present serious research or stringent reports on his web site, but instead sticks to the snake oil marketing schemes?

Pearl has been a huge disappointment. But the good news: There is a lot of promising research in this field now coming up, much of it presented in James Oschman's excellent book "Energy medicine". And there is also a book that. maybe for the first time, satisfactorily translates the energy experience into writing: Donna Edens book, also titled "Energy medicine".
These two books actually present a new level in the field, without bragging about it, like Pearl does. My recommendation: Go for these two, and leave Pearl.

4-0 out of 5 stars At the very least, it's worth a try
I just finished the book (I found my copy at a garage sale), and all in all, I'm glad to have found it. I've read several of the 26 comments submitted thus far, and am surprised to find so few negative (or low-star) submissions, just because of the topic's metaphysical nature. I don't feel that it alienates so much as offers to include ANYone willing to give it a try. There's no apparent drawback, as long as you follow such key directives as "set no expectations." Sounds like an easy-out, but in context, it isn't...to me anyway, and I tend to be quite skeptical.

If you feel you're on a path that involves healing lives in any aspect, this book is at least worth the time it takes to read the 220 or so pages it comprises.

4-0 out of 5 stars The Reconnection: A Critical Review
Let me immediately state that I like this book. Dr. Eric Pearl has a rare combination of wit and wisdom that makes for easy reading. He has added significantly to the literature of healing. I like this book, so much in fact, that I have committed to a weekend workshop with Dr. Pearl. When used correctly this book can be invaluable. That said, I now want to share a few critical thoughts.

Despite Dr. Pearl's many statements to the contrary, The Reconnection is a technique, just like every other form of externally activated healing process. Only when the entire process comes from within the "dis-eased" individual, and only when performed without fore-thought, any form of focus, attention, or intention on the illness or healing it, would such a "method" be free of technique. Stated otherwise, healing would have to be fully spontaneous. I read a review in which the writer mentions studying Levels One and Two - that alone tells me there is a technique. If you progress through stages, if you hold your hands a certain way, if you hold a specific focus, be it love, openness, to be unfocused, or whatever, it is a technique. If you are playing with a slinky or pulling taffy, it is a technique (you'll relate to this when you read the book). In Elmer Green's "Copper Wall Project" the single common denominator was that the involved "sensitives" (healers) all used their hands. Again, this implies technique. As Pearl states, there are other ways of working with energies, but the hands are unique (they are also where energy is most unstable, changing polarity from yin to yang - and when something is unstable it is more easily affected).

I have now read this book twice and have referred to highlighted sections numerous times, and I have to say, it strongly resembles qigong. A serious, long-time student of qigong, I still manage to avoid holding it in such awe as to be closed to other possibilities, and that is why I was able to read and put to use Dr. Pearl's many insights. Just as he says that the word "energy" is insufficient, so do most qigong practitioners. Many qigong adepts have long said that the process is one of information. Like homeopathy and most other healing modalities, this information is exchanged on a vibrational entrainment level. This explains why, as another reviewer points out, simply holding the book will set off energetic frequencies in the hands of some readers. For more detail on this, I strongly recommend James Oschman's "Energy Medicine, The Scientific Basis." I won't go into all the other reasons Reconnective healing and qigong are kissing cousins, but know that they are.

Finally, over time I have come to realize there is nothing inherently wrong with "technique". Technique is simply a teaching protocol, a way of introducing the learner to a universe of possibilities. As with every teacher-student relationship, some instructors (especially "bow down and worship me, guru types") will abuse it, making learning more ridgid than it needs to be, a disservice to the student and future generations of learners. But once the foundation is properly in place, each individual will find their unique way of advancing. Then we can draw outside the lines. The strength of The Reconnection is in the introductory foundation it lays, but there are numerous other techniques just as effective. And this in no way takes away from what Pearl has brought to the table. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Packed full of useful medicinal plant information & stories.
This book is an excellent reference for anyone interested in herbal healing. It's easy to read and difficult to put down. The book is organized by disease states, instead of herbs and their uses like most herbal books. You can find multiple areas pertaining to each herb listed in the index. Dr. Duke, with his vast experience and botanical knowledge, created a fascinating book that includes many stories about various herbs and people that he has meet during his many travels and his work for the USDA. While some herbs have numerous studies about their ingredients and effects, Dr. Duke informs the reader about potentially useful herbs for conditions from Allergies to Yeast Infections. And if that wasn't enough, it includes a recap of Dr.Duke's life and how he came to learn and love plants. His knowledge of plants and their constituents is almost endless. Even well read herbalist can learn something from Dr.Duke.

5-0 out of 5 stars The one I turn to again and again...!
This book is VERY useful for looking up which herbs to use for a given health condition (it's organized alphabetically by condition). If you have a cold, for example, and you want to know what to use to treat it, you can just look it up under "Colds and Flu", and bingo, there's all the info you need. (Many of the other herb books I have, while lovely to look at, require you to use the index and then peruse each individual plant listing that mentions a condition. This can be a pain!) Dr. Duke's folksy style of writing and his anecdotes interspersed in the text make it a pleasure to read.

This is the book I recommend to friends who want to know which herbs to use-- it's a great read & a great reference!

5-0 out of 5 stars Outstanding!
This is a gotta-have if your working with herbal remedies. I just can't say more than, its well worth the price, just buy it.

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent!!!
What a rare treat to find this book such a pleasureable read! I try to read most of the alternative health books that are popular, and I was most pleased with this little gem.

Lots of detail, doses, and extra info that enable the reader to make informed decisions about their medical choices. I will definately be purchasing the authors other books.

5-0 out of 5 stars Wow!
I never knew how many over the counter medicines could be replaced by safer, herbal alternatives. This book is easy to read and has a great index where you can look up various ailments. The index takes you right to the page where it lists the herbs that can help you. The book also provides many different herbs that can be used for one ailment so you can have more options available to you. It also says how the herb is used and prepared. Excellent book for someone that wants to have well-rounded health-care. I can attest to some of those remedies in the book, they do work! ... Read more

Book Description

The body can heal itself. Spontaneous healing is not a miracle but a fact of biology--the result of the natural healing system that each one of us is born with. Drawing on fascinating case histories as well as medical techniques from around the world, Dr. Andrew Weil shows how spontaneous healing has worked to resolve life-threatening diseases, severe trauma, and chronic pain. 5-0 out of 5 stars Spontaneous Healing
Dr Weil pulls together the medical knowledge from around the world to explain the human healing system. He offers suggestions for diet, natural herbs, vitamins, and much much more. I practice medicine as a Physician Assistant in Boise, Idaho. I have a web page "At Ease Medicine" that deals with natural healing, I recommend this book to all of my patients. I think it should be required reading in high school. Buy it, read it, let Dr. Weil change your life for the better.

5-0 out of 5 stars Best book I've ever read on Health and Healing!
This is such a great book, I don't know where to start! It has changed the way I look at food and over-the-counter medicine. I am buying this book for my mother, and for my sister-in-law who is training to be a nurse and believes that echinacea only works if you take it before you get sick. (I'm in no position to offer medical advice, but in my family echinacea and vitamin C will shorten any cold to just two days! and that includes my 2 year old son). I recommend this book for anyone who wants to feel good and be healthy. I especially recommend this book to anyone and EVERYONE in the medical professions.

5-0 out of 5 stars What you won't hear many doctors tell you
If you've had little success with chronic or "incurable" ailments or would like to avoid them in the future, your money will be well spent on this book. I've been practicing many of the suggestions Dr. Weil makes, yet I still found plenty of new material to learn from.

The book highlights the inadequacy of modern traditional medicine. From the lower success rates for treating a vast number of ailments, to the ineffectiveness of drug treatments, to the ever climbing costs of health care, it reveals what many medical professionals won't tell you or, even worse, don't know about themselves.

If you'd like to regain control of your health and keep it that way at the lowest reasonable cost, this book gives you the "fishing pole" for how to do that.

5-0 out of 5 stars Wise words, great perspective, great advice. One to own.
I read that Weil likes when he is criticised by both traditional medicine and by alternative medicine, because it means that he is doing what he likes to do: Tell the truth as best he can, combining the best of medicine and alternatives. He offers great advice on so many areas in this book, including nutritional supplements, food choices, elimination of toxins from your life, exercise, and more. All the "Weil" providing analysis and explanation so that we feel informed and not just doing what he says. Highly recommended book! Also, for a concise book and approach to effectively enhancing wellness, read also "Effortless Wellbeing: The Missing Ingredients for Authentic Wellness" by Evan Finer. Excellent and HELPFUL books!

4-0 out of 5 stars Great starting point
This is book offers basic, non-complicated ways to understand and implement alternative/homeopathic methods to not only heal, but just as importantly, to maintain good health. The author does tend to use some medical terminology when referring to western medicine but the rest is pretty straight forward and easy to follow. If you know nothing or little about homeopathic methods, then this book is a great start to get a general understanding and possibly guidance to where you can begin your research into more specific areas to study should you have a nagging condition that you can't seem to get rid of. I am young and in prefect health, but knowing how to maintain my health naturely is what prompted me to buy this book and I'm glad I did. I own both the book and the audio book. The tape is read by the author and he is a bit monotone so you might drift off into daydreaming while listening to it from time to time. You'll definitely have to listen to it several times, but worth it. The audio book is great for listening while I drive to work since you will have to read it or listen to it several times in order to absorb all of the information in it, but the tape doesn't offer as many examples of success stories that the book offers so it might be good to get both like I did. While the information is great, the stories are the ones that really inspire. ... Read more

Book Description

Not science fiction, but a scientific fact! This book is the first common sense scientific explanation of the aging process and "how to" reverse it.The nutrients that we deliver to our cells burn with oxygen and become acidic wastes after giving energy to our body. The body tries its best to get rid of these acidic wastes through urine and perspiration.Unfortunately, our lifestyle, diet and environment prevent our body to get rid of all the wastes that it generates.Gradually, these leftover acidic wastes accumulate somewhere within our body.Since acid coagulates blood, the blood circulation near the waste areas becomes poor, causing all kinds of degenerative diseases to develop. The author defines the aging process as the accumulation of non-disposed acidic wastes within the body.According to this theory, the reduction of accumulated wastes is re verse aging. This book explains how some of the adult degenerative diseases are caused by too much acidic wastes, and describes the various scientific devices and methods to reduce these wastes without any harmful side effects. These devices and methods are being wid ely used in Japan.Alkaline water makers (water ionizers) have been in existence in Japan for more than 40 years. Many in the alternative health industry of water ionizers, magnet and far-infrared devices regard this book as the most comprehensive and up-to-date reference book of its kind in the English language. It is a "must read" for all who are health-conscious. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Acid/Alkaline Hype will die down soon enough
Sorry to disappoint all of you who are pumped about about the acid/alkaline theory. The author of this book makes it seem as if we will all become champions by drinking water with a high pH. This just isn't true, for several reasons.

The authors research is based on nothing. It's based on his opinion, which is foolish. He throws in a whole bunch of scientific jargon, as if its going to win us all over. The fact is, drinking water with a high pH can be detrimental to your health, not positive. Putting those drops in your water "clusters" the water, making the molecules smaller, thereby hydrating the body more than regular water. This is bad because it tricks the body into overhydrating, and can wreak havoc in your stomach. Dr. David Wheeler points this out on his site thoroughly.

Again, don't want to disappoint the fans of this theory, but there's a lot more to it than drinking alkaline water to become healthy. Half the people who drink this water will become too alkaline, and could do some serious damage, like not producing stomach acid anymore. It's happened to thousands.

I urge you all to do natural things. Not use medication, like Alkaline water. It IS indeed medicine. The body WILL try to reject it.

4-0 out of 5 stars A very valuable book
Forward-thinking health theorists stress the need for our bodies to be less acidic. Civilization and laziness have led most of us to detrimental eating habits, one result being acidic bodies. If you want to test your acidity all you need is ph testing paper from the health food store. Test your urine. Then try to get more alkaline. It isn't easy.

Dr Whang safely assumes that most of us will not easily change our behavior. His recommendation is to use ionized water which is indeed very effective at impacting acid conditions. He has several other interesting theories as well.

I have been using ionized water for two months and see many internal improvements that reach beyond an increasingly better acid balance. Some of the true believers in ionized water consider the alkalinity to be only one potential benefit of the water. Do some web searching for further information.

If you read all of the reviews of this book you will find some that are cautionary. The reasoning and backup for these opinions is somewhat thin, but this is true of information in general on ionized water. I have read much of what I can on this matter and suggest that you do the same. For myself I believe the material in the book to be very valuable. For the immediate future I will use ionized water as a health supplement. Based on what I have seen and read I hope that it will be an ongoing aid in the effort to find balanced health...

A recommendation for an inexpensive batch ionizer to get started (no affiliation whatsoever)...hiddencures.com

1-0 out of 5 stars Recipe for stomach pain!
I read this book and was thoroughly convinced that the author was onto something big. I purchased his special product that alters the PH of water to help alkalize your system. I began to experience strange stomach pains. It took me many months to ferret out that it was his product that was causing it! I tried another bottle: same problem. It didn't matter when I took it or whether I took it with or without food and/or other supplements.

5-0 out of 5 stars Who would have thought it so simple...
I think this is an important and essential addition to all self-help libraries. Mr. Whang explains very simply the workings of the body. I have been interested in nutrition for some time and have learned over the years to eat "basic," that is, emphasizing foods that balance the body's pH... lemons, for instance, I learned, although acid in taste actually have a basic effect on the body. Most foods used in their natural form do also.

But good heavens with the introduction of modern, refined and processed foods as well as the various prevalent pollutants that we spill into our environment, the aging process has sped up while degenerative diseases have increased. Now I wouldn't recommend this water as a plethora. Rather it is good to use while making some other corrections to one's diet as well, beginnning with cutting back on the carbonated drinks and other various highly sugar-laced and/or overly processed food stuffs!

I think he has a very original idea with the ionizer and the drops! In France there is the Dr. Kousmine who has also thought and taught along those lines, advising patients to take alkalizing salts when urine pH is too acidic.

I especially appreciated his middle-of-the-road-no-excess philosophy, so important in matters of health, MODERATION being the key word. Let's face it, we wouldn't even be needing this water if we hadn't already broken a few of the rules along the way... But even too much of a good thing can be bad. With that in mind, don't over do it with the basic water... BALANCE being the main goal!

Thanks Mr. Whang for this great and very simple-to-use idea! ... Read more
