4-0 out of 5 stars Great Anatomy review
This book is great for a review for first year exams as well as for boards - I highly recommend

3-0 out of 5 stars Not good, not bad
This book had so many rave reviews that I had to buy it. However it appears to be US centric and geared towards the USMLE not gross anatomy. It is incredibly brief and does not contain the depth of anatomical detail that is needed to pass British or Australian medical school exams. Aside from the lack of sufficient detail the diagrams are just average. There are a number of other textbooks that are better, for a book of approximate size I recommend Last's Anatomy, which is exceptional. In my opinion this is not a bad text, but it's not that great either.

4-0 out of 5 stars Great review, needs pictures
Great review for the USMLE Step 1. Good price. I think it could use more pictures. Good organization and with useful details. If you are going to get this book you should get an Atlas (Netter is the best). A good buy.

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent book for the boards
I found this book to be a must buy for the USMLE Step 1. It helped me focus in on key aspects of the material. The book helped me remember facts easier and with less stress. However, I also used the following book which is also on amazon.com:
Spinal Anatomy Study Guide: Key Review Questions and Answers
by Patrick Leonardi (ISBN: 0971999600)
The second book helped me to be ready for some of the type of questions encountered on the USMLE Step 1. I was recommended this book from a friend and he was right on target with the Spinal Anatomy Study Guide. Get both books, worth the money.

2-0 out of 5 stars If you cant stand looking at an informative picture, buy it!
This book is cerainly a disgrace for BRS in general. Unlike the beautiful Biochemistry and Physiology BRS, this Anatomy book is really a disaster at least reputation wise for the BRS. Yu don't believe me, just buy it and you will NOT want to study from it. The most crucial thing in Anatomy is a good diagram, but there are few diagrams and they are horrible anyways! ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Moore's Anatomy text is a standard; rightfully so
I am a medical student at Texas A&M USHSC COM. Moore's is an excellent text for basic anatomy. They have included excellent drawings and the content is complete. Added bonuses to the text include insightful clinical correlation and appropriate embryological try-ins. The text appears wordy and most medical students will try to use a review book in its stead. This would be a mistake. Students who read Moore will retain more anatomy all the way into clinicals and will be ahead of their peers who did not. Overall this is a very fine text: best used in conjunction with Netter's Atlas of Human Anatomy and Langman's Medical Embryology. *I will mention here, in fact, that the embryo text by Moore (The Developing Human: Clinically Oriented Embryology) does not meet the same high standard and is wrought with errors.

5-0 out of 5 stars Rave review for Moore anatomy book
I thoroughly enjoyed studying anatomy with the Moore's book. The illustrations are great--I especially found the individual drawings of the leg and arm muscles helpful, and the 3-D drawings of the pelvic region helped me to better visualize this complex area. I was able to study most of the time from Moore and only had to use the Color Atlas of Anatomy as a reference.

The text was clearly written and very detailed. At times, it was more detailed than my first year anatomy class, but I was able to skip or skim these sections. I don't think I ever found Moore to be lacking in information.

I found the boxes highlighting attachments, function, or distribution for nerves, vessels, and muscles to be very helpful. They proved to be a quick reference.

Finally, the blue boxes with clinical information made anatomy so much more interesting. I learned many relevant facts and applied, clinical anatomy.

3-0 out of 5 stars just too clincal
In fact it's usefull, mainly for a clinical aproach of anatomy, based on surface anatomy and changes in structure originated by injuries. however when performing dissection, that just does not help, the descriptive anatomy, is just to slim, and does not really contributes to understand the three dimensional structure of the human body. However for a quick reference could be an option. Personally prefer the testut-jacob topographic anatomy

4-0 out of 5 stars Great Pre-medical Buy!!!
I thought this book was amazing!! It was my first medical school textbook. I flipped through the pages, glassy-eyed, realizing that this was what I had been working for!

Unfortunately, 2 years later, I ahve still not had the time to do more than use it as a reference book! I am hoping to read the entire thing sometime before retirement! Don't get me wrong, it is a great book, and I highly recommend it for medical students. However, looking back, I wish I had bought it BEFORE I came to medical school. Having the time to read the entire book, and learn the material would have been an incredible asset! Premedical students often wonder what they could be doing to prepare themselves for medical school. Buying this book and reading it would be high on my recommendation list!!!

5-0 out of 5 stars Great book, excellent reference
This book is quite thorough for anatomy and although very wordy, I think it covers a lot of anatomical information that every med student should know. I used this book as a reference for learning the facts in my anatomy classes. I also found the following to be an excellent source:

The second book had similar type questions to my anatomy exams in med school. My advice is to get both books. ... Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars good review if you have a good foundation
This is a good book for people who need to review for the boards and have a good foundation of neuroanatomy. If you don't have solid footing the lack of explanations might confuse you. On the other hand it is quite concise so it is easy to get through.

5-0 out of 5 stars Ideal for USMLE review
This is the book for Step 1 USMLE review. It covers all the essential details of this heavily tested subject. Must be coupled with an atlas since recognizing gross pictures and as well as comfort with imaging is vital for the USMLE. For coursework, it is advisable to use a more substantial book. Neuroanatomy is a tough subject that cannot be crammed. It is essential to lay down a strong base during the semester.

5-0 out of 5 stars Must have
This book has all the neuroanatomy and associated clinical scenarios that I was tested on for Step 1. The mini atlas of brain anatomy is a guaranteed question. The clinical info about brain/brainstem/spinal cord injuries is also covered very well in this book.

5-0 out of 5 stars Concise review of neuroanatomy
This is a great little book! I used it in medical school, and now that I'm a neurology resident, I *still* use it. Has enough depth to be useful, but not overwhelming. Easy to read. Tends to cover the pimpable/testable highlights. Good summary tables.

5-0 out of 5 stars Understanding the incomprehensible neuroanatomy
Yikes !!!! When they start talking about neuroanatomy you get a marked sympathetic reaction ( your skin gets cold and clammy, you start sweating and start feeling your heartbeats ). That, and " what the hell are they asking for and how is it that thing clinically important " matter, do have a solution.
High Yield neuroanatomy is written in a superbly comprehensive way ( a lot to ask for from a science such as neuroanatomy ) and with a lot of helpful illustrations that help to consolidate written concepts. Finally, loaded with certain clinical applications of the concepts reviewed, this book is good not only for the USMLE step1, but for the clinical wards as well. During rounds, my fellow students just kept saying " how did this guy know that answer ? ". ... Read more

"...an essential requirement for the library of any individual who works in the field...if you buy only one atlas, this is the one to by." (Journal of Neurosurgery, Vol. 98, June 2003)

4-0 out of 5 stars Medical Student Opinion
The photographs are excellent, but the index sucks. It is poorly organized and incomplete. Take my advice and buy this book for Neuroanatomy just for the pictures. The paperback edition is very afforadable. Just put lots of little flags on the pages or sections you use most. It will save you much brain-ache.

Book Description

Not since it first published in 1858 has Gray's Anatomy introduced so much innovation to the world of anatomical references. A team of renowned clinicians, anatomists, and basic scientists have radically transformed this classic resource to incorporate all of the newest anatomical knowledge...reorganized it by body region to parallel clinical practice...and added many new surface anatomy, radiologic anatomy, and microanatomy images to complement the exquisite artwork that the book is known for. In addition, a new, multimedia package enables users to consult the printed book... access a dynamic, continuously updated web site...or explore a CD-ROM containing all of the book's images plus 9 fully rotatable, strippable anatomical models. Although there are now many books called "Gray's Anatomy," only this 39th Edition carries on the true lineage of the original text. 5-0 out of 5 stars The most authoritative reference text there is on anatomy
This text is the most authoritative of all anatomical texts; this is attributed to the editors of this text from past to this edition being prominent members of the medical profession and in saying so also being responsible of globalizing the anatomical nomenclature.

This text is rather advanced for an amateur student. With all due respect one much have some acquired background knowledge before one can grasp the intensity of which this text.

It is the best reference text around, I myself use the CD-ROM version of it and it is most articulate in defining the pathological nature of certain anatomical components as well as giving detailed, precise and important information on each.

This text is exhaustively extensive and comprises of a great deal of research in a myriad of fields. I strongly suggest anyone buying this to buy a complementing book like Last's Anatomy by Chummy. M. Sinnatamby. If you have these two books then know this that you are armed with the most prominent books dealing with anatomy and they are long standing authorities both in the UK medical system as well as that in the US. Last's is more common to the UK as Clinical anatomy of Moore and Dalley is in the US.

It is a NEED for medical students.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great book. Get it.
This version of Gray's (British, 38th edition) is the most expensive and comprehensive one available, and is well-worth the price. I use it as the proverbial 'ultimate reference', along with Netter's Atlas of Human Anatomy.

You won't go wrong with this tome. I suggest the Amazon 1st or 2nd-day shipping option, in order to receive the book in nice condition.

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent reference!!
This book is absolutely amazing. It was the required reference text for a gross anatomy class I took in graduate school and it made studying so easy! I used to go through and take notes out of it in order to have a solid base of what I should see when I would dissect. This book also described a lot of the abnormalities and variations that we would regularly see in the human body. A MUST HAVE FOR ANYONE WHO WILL BE STUDYING ANATOMY!!!!!!

4-0 out of 5 stars An infinite book for "finite" science?
A book you can still dream on.

This was written and rewritten when Victorian erudition was in the making. Some authors in the long series of its well parsed institutional writing would still like to see it continuing in THAT well established tradition.

Alas, the times have changed. Recent anatomy texts are dwarfs not even climbing on the shoulders of the likes of Gray, Braus and Testut. Those authors professed ideals of "seeing through the skin structures", "synmorphy" and "mentally reconstructing the living". Today we do all this with machines...

I stopped reading the huge text linearly at the complicated review of angiogenesis, but still browse dedicated chapters for standard, if somewhat elaborate descriptions. Comprehensive knowledge parsing seems to have lived a fruitful life and then exit the scene to enrich scientific obituaries. But if Gibbon were still an example of style, the fifth star would be added when that clarity, in my view mandatory for monuments, will be eventually reached.

5-0 out of 5 stars A cogent description of the human body.
This book is truly a masterpiece. The writing and layout is good. Descriptions and illustrations are clear and well done. I am not a medical professional and yet I find this book fascinating in its breadth and scope. To better comprehend some of the anatomical structures I first read relevant portions of this book and then go to Netter's Atlas Of Human Anatomy. One point of caution though - get the 38th British Edition. This is by far superior to the American Edition which costs half as much. The extra money spent will be well worth it. After all there is a lifetime of adventure embedded in this volume. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent quick read
This is an excellent source for high yield anatomy review. Its clinical scenarios, CT scans and other diagnostic images are priceless for Step 1 studying. HOWEVER, this cannot be used alone. An atlas must be used with it to completely cover anatomy. For it brevity and high yield info = 5 stars.

5-0 out of 5 stars CLINICALLY SIGNIFICANT ANATOMICAL CONCEPTS
Anatomy is a subject that might seem endless......until you get this book. When I bought it I knew finally why was anatomy useful in the everyday clinical practice. Friendly, with LOTS of excellent pictures, key essential concepts, and extremely well organized, information just diffuses toward your brain. Also, a USMLE step 1 must have....when I was answering it, I thanked God the book had fell in my hands.

4-0 out of 5 stars Good USMLE review book
This book is not sufficient for course study, but is a very good choice for Step 1 preparation. Anatomy is a fairly low yield topic on the Step 1 exam and this is a good, concise review of clinically relevant anatomy.

5-0 out of 5 stars An invaluable anatomy review book!
This book is perfect for USMLE review. Dr. Dudek cuts through all of the fluff (and in gross anatomy, there is a LOT of fluff!), and focuses in on commonly tested concepts. I also recommend his high-yield embryology book for board review.

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent quick review
Prevents you from losing sight of the big picture in anatomy. Inappropriate as a primary text, but beautiful as a review book right before an exam of the USMLE. Worth the money. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars A Great reinforcer of previously learned lessons...
I was advised by a homeschooling guide to buy this book for my science classes some time ago. I am pleased to say that I did not regret the decision I made to purchase it, as this is an excellent book! At first, I was surprised that a coloring book would be recommended as an educational tool for a first year high school student, but it was actually very helpful to me. Once I was finished completing it, I was delighted to see how vivid and realistic the illustrations became. So delighted that I bought a copy for my younger siblings to try (aged 7-10). Unfortunately they found it a little too daunting, so I'd have to say that it's not the best book for a ten year old or younger. However, if you're looking for a challenging, educational book for a student aged eleven or up, then you should try this one. You might even find yourself picking up a marker and coloring with him.

3-0 out of 5 stars Not like the coloring books of old....
I was a little depressed when I sent this to my niece who is brilliant and yet found it a little bit intimidating. To quote her younger sister (by only 9 months), {I don't know Beck, but it looks like a fairly adult hand there>?) I feel that you should maybe have provided an age range? (10-12)? I am hoping that she will put it on her bookshelf and eventually "get into it" I am now wishing I had got it for myself!!!

4-0 out of 5 stars anatomy an physiology made easy
This book help me to understand anatomy and physiology like I was a three year old and learning like it was easy as drinking water. It Is a very good book to have as a reference in the future. It also help me to get back into the swing of things since I spent the last 6 years in the Army doing a job that had nothing to do with my Degree field which is sports medicine.

5-0 out of 5 stars This is an excellent book.
I am a homeschooler...and this book is for me!! I learn right along with my children!!!! I recommend it for anyone and everyone.

5-0 out of 5 stars A great, enjoyable teaching tool for all ages.
I teach children ages 11-16. Some are special education students and others are gifted. I wanted a life science curriculum that would be highly motivational, easy to understand and would teach the real names and concepts. I, myself, do not have a strong scienc background. i knew I would be learning along with my students. Truth is, I purchased three anatomy coloring books, but only this one did the trick. It appeals to the kids, has clearer drawings and more simplified text with catchy sub-headings than the other texts I tried. It is also geared for real learning and introduces concepts as well as vocabulary about human anatomy. I highly recommend this text for beginners. It can be used as independent work or even, just-for-fun, free-time work in the classroom or at home. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Good Book
This is a good book for college anatomy and physiology. It is very thorough and descriptive. Goes in depth into nervous, muscular, skeletal and endocrine systems to name a few. I also recommend Key Facts of Anatomy and Physiology isbn;0971999694. This last book shows you what's important to study for. Both books highly recommended.

Martini has made significant changes in the 6th Edition of his Anatomy and Physiology text and they prove to be reader-friendly, more technically accurate than competitors such as Marieb, and accompanied by first-rate illustrations. 4-0 out of 5 stars A very clear book :)
This is a fine book from an author who collaborated with other writers to make a book that clearly explains the common diseases that disturb the human body and its organ systems.

What makes this book so good is that before the book discusses about the various diseases that affect the organ systems of the body, you get a preceding chapter that explains the physiology of that organ system when homeostatically normal. This allows the student a quick review and allows the student to compare the behavior of the organ system's state when it is healthy to when it is altered by disease. Additionally, this book comes with an excellent studyguide to help the student focus on what is important about the various diseases, syndromes and conditons that can make the body unhealthy. The CD that comes with this book is a great educational tool as well. The writers and the publishers of this book did a very fine job of making sure all the tools are in place to help the student appreciate and understand pathophysiology and its importance in the health field.

This book also has good color pictures of how various diseases look and flow charts of how the disease progresses or manifests.

The only problem with this book(a minor problem) is that some diseases are not discussed deeply enough. I think that since this is a pathophysiology book, it should go more indepth with the common diseases. An example is the disease glacoma. I'm not sure if it covers glacoma but if it did, it did not cover the signs and symptoms of it enough. It needs to focus on the mechanism of the disease on a cellular level as well as on an organ level. There are some diseases in which the signs, symptoms and diagnosis is well portrayed but the mechnisms are not. Also it needs to focus less on the treatment of the disease and more on the diagnosis IMHO, however that is disputable becuae that is just my opinion.

Overall this is a fine book. I guess in time this book will have some new improvement when the new editions come out. Good book. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Be the envy of your friends-read The Penis Book.
The Penis Book by Joseph Cohen is clever, amusing, and very informative. It offers everything you wanted to know about the male organ, but may have been afraid to ask. It even includes information you never would have thought to ask! The book's graphic design is sharp and modern, which is appropriate since parts of the book are quite graphic! It's a great book for fun for yourself, and a humorous gift for others--not for the kiddies, though.

5-0 out of 5 stars Loved it!
My girlfriend gave me The Penis Book for my 40th birthday and it was the hit of my party. Everybody started passing the book around and reading their favorite section out loud. We all thought the penis man stand-up comic was terrific. The centerfold was a real eye-opener. And the entry about the great circumcision controversy triggered a pro and con debate that went on for over an hour. There's an incredible amount of information in this book. The photos and artwork are a real class act. The Penis Book is a lot more than its title might suggest.

4-0 out of 5 stars This Book Really Grows On You
This is the perfect coffee table book. Not only will it be a conversation piece, but it will be the life of any party with its humor.

Loaded with "read between the lines" type humor, THE PENIS BOOK proves to be quite insightful, answering some questions that you were always too afraid to ask. From ancient Japanese fertility rituals to modern-day circumcisions, this book has it all. Hilarious pictures, funny captions, and a few entertaining stories grace the pages of this short book. It is very easy to read, and on the whole, the book is designed nicely.

THE PENIS BOOK is done very tastefully, and you can't help but be intrigued by the incredible facts presented. It is a very entertaining read that is sure to make you laugh out loud.

4-0 out of 5 stars Good Conversation Starter
I bought this as a gag gift for someone else, and decided to keep it for my own collection. It's amazing how quickly people will pick it up - usually in disbelief and laughing out loud. The book's got tons of pictures, hilarious captions and a few stories. And it's all on this one little (or big!) thing. It'll definitely have you laughing out loud.

4-0 out of 5 stars The Penis Book
Well, like it said...love them, hate them! This book has something for everyone.

Everyone laughs at the title, then comes back and buys the book to help them learn anatomy. Goldberg has used lighthearted illustrations, diagrams, and mnemonics to help students learn clinically oriented systemic anatomy. 5-0 out of 5 stars Quirky Mnemonics that Stick
I used this book when studying for my medical school gross anatomy course. When I first read over the sections I was studying in class, I thought that the mnemonic devices were somewhat silly and did not try to depend much on them. However, when I found myself in my first written and practical exams, I began reciting some of the seemingly ridiculous analogies from the book. It turned out to be an excellent help. Clinical Anatomy Made Ridiculously Simple is divided into 17 chapters organized by systems. There are two tables of contents, one that follows the systemic outline of the book and another that jumps around pages but is organized into regions of the body. This makes it easy to approach the book from either the systems or regional study. It touched on virtually every aspect that we covered in class. It is easy to understand and will help the reader when he/she has gotten bogged down in anatomical jargon. Although one should not depend on this book a sole text for the study of anatomy, it would make an excellent companion to any anatomy course.

3-0 out of 5 stars Basic Fundamentals
This book gives a good understanding of the basic fundamentals of clinical anatomy. Unfortunately a basic understanding of clinical anatomy is not enough to get you through an anatomy exam in any professional school. If you are getting this book to review some information quickly after you are in practice, I recommend this as a quick reference. If you are looking for a book to get you through the intracacies of the anterior neck, then you will be dissapointed when you look for your grade on the staff bulletin board. There is no quick way to learn anatomy, only the complete way. Don't use this book as your primary source for learning this subject, or you'll end up as just another practitioner that doesn't know the difference between the coracoid and coronoid process.

5-0 out of 5 stars Another Masterpiece...
After "Microbiology Made ...", this is the best book in this series. Most medical graduates don't like studying anatomy for USMLE, but this book will really help. Excellent pictures, mnemonics and stories will help you to remember important facts without memorizing. If you have any doubt about this book, just read "Brachial Plexus" section.

2-0 out of 5 stars eh
Book is poorly organized into systems rather than regions. It's a little too ridiculously simple especially for medical students. There no are review questions to test yourself. I picked up a couple of ideas for remembering structures but otherwise would stick to the Board Review Series Anatomy review. Might be good for undergraduate anatomy though.

2-0 out of 5 stars too superficial and badly organised
I'm a med school student, and I hate too say that this book was not helpfull at all in my anatomy class.
It doesn't get into specifics that we were requiered to know. In addition, it is organised by systems, which is too different from most books and atlases, which are organised by areas of the body (for example Moore's textbook or Netter's atlas).
If you want a faster review book then your textbook, get Moore's essentials of clinical anatomy instead. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars BRS Embryology
The BRS for Embryology was a supplemental text that I found incredibly helpful. The book helps to make even the most confusing development stages easy to understand and learn. It helps to weed through the details and focus on the main concepts. I found this book to be truly helpful in studying and preparing for med school exams for my first year. I would recommend this to any student who feels confused or overwhelmed by developmental anatomy.

Book Description

With an already established reputation for user-friendliness, the Seventh Edition of Clinical Anatomy for Medical Students increases embryology coverage for programs that incorporate the subject into anatomy, or where a separate embryology text isn't necessary. Known for its clear and consistent organization and concise writing, this text focuses on presenting anatomical information that is clinically relevant. The book's unified structure includes the following components in each chapter: Outline, Objectives, Basic Anatomy, Radiographic Anatomy, Surface Anatomy, Clinical Notes, Clinical Problem-Solving, and National Board-Type Questions. ... 3-0 out of 5 stars Good, but not the best choice
This is good anatomy text - but by no means the best that is out there. Snell's diagrams are overly simplistic and often unclear as to the relation of other nearby structures. The text is accurate and very straightforward but lacking in some of the clinical applications. This volume is more suited for an undergrad anatomy class and even then I would suggest a different and more detailed text. Try Keith Moore's Clinical Anatomy it is far superior and will serve you better than this. Out of the dozens of various anatomy texts I own - this one comes off the bookshelf the least.

3-0 out of 5 stars Excellent Text; Poor Diagrams
This standard anatomy textbook for medical students is really a useful studying guide for mastering the structures and functions of the human body. The text is very clearly written with detailed descriptions. The book doesn't let you just memorize the names for every bit of the flesh, but also the 3D arrangement of any tissue and organ! But the diagrams are simply hand sketches which make the book less interesting.

5-0 out of 5 stars Very Descriptive
The sixth edition of "Snell's Clinical Anatomy for Medical Students" continues to provide readers with a thorough but appropriate degree of anatomical detail to be able to confidently conduct clinical practice. The current edition succeeds in virtually eliminating all extraneous details encountered with its predecessors, and now provides a much more streamlined, user-friendly format. Much emphasis has been placed on the inclusion of descriptive figures and tables where possible in order to minimize text as well as also being an advantage for study and review (especially the useful appendix section which nicely summarises the musculoskeletal system). Illustrations have received considerable improvement in the form of extensive use of colour and bold typing to facilitate easier interpretation. However, it is worth highlighting that the diagrams seem to provide an idealized view of human anatomy, rather than representing real dissections. As such, "Grant's Atlas of Anatomy" is perhaps a better companion in the dissecting room. Current diagnostic techniques such as CT scans, MRIs, sonograms and echocardiograms as well as labelled photographs of cross-sectional anatomy permeate the text, and reflect the expansion of technology in recent years. It is also pleasing to encounter more paediatric anatomy and embryology relevant to congenital defects which are subject areas often overlooked in anatomy books. Some of the more unique and agreeable features of Snell's Clinical Anatomy are the clinical notes and problem-solving sections at the end of each chapter which set Snell's text apart from other less clinically orientated anatomical books. Moreover, the presence of American National Board type questions also provide an effective means of self-testing. Overall, "Snell's Clinical Anatomy for Medical Students" is one of the most respected of all anatomy books, combining excellent descriptive detail with a ready accessibility that is often only found in essential revision texts

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent and well organized
This atlas is arranged and presented in a way that makes all of its information easily accessible and easy to find. All systems and structures of the human anatomy are shown in various formats, from cutaways to x-rays, with such a wide variety of helps that it's hard to imagine valid criticism. Tables, legends, indexes, brief verbal descriptions of the pertinent physiological functions, etc. It's practically impossible to get lost in this well-organized atlas, and beyond its obvious uses for medical students etc., it's an indispensible part of my library for transcription.

5-0 out of 5 stars The best atlas for a student's needs
You couldn't ask more from an atlas. It has good drawings, radiographs, accompayning text, and muscle charts. The pictures are easy to follow, and don't crowd the structures with excessive labeling (Netter). What's the big deal with the beauty of his drawings anyway? I purchased a Clemente atlas without the CD and reccommend it that way unless you want to pay twice as much to have the same information in two forms.

5-0 out of 5 stars The best atlas for a student's needs
Clemente took the best of what other's have drawn, and has put them together in this incredibly useful atlas. Everyone harps about Netter's. I agree that it is a good atlas, but Netter labeled way too many structures on many pictures and lacks prose to help explain the pictures. Additionally, Clemente included charts that group everything you need to know about a muscle (origin, action...) at the end of each section. By the way, why does it matter that Netter's pictures are so beautiful?

5-0 out of 5 stars Who learns from pictures?
Criticising a book on the basis of the quality of its pictures should be restricted to art. "I'm sorry madam, I removed your son's tongue. It looked just like the tonsils in my anatomy picture book." (Get my point?) Pictures in texts are used to clarify text. When we take our head out of our, um book, thats when the learning starts. Oh by the way, about the book itself. The information contained in it is understandable. It is up to date. What little prose is in the text provides interest to a dry topic.

4-0 out of 5 stars There are better atlases
It is a helpful atlas, but it is not the best available. In my opinion one of the best atlas you can buy is Atlas of Human Anatomy by Frank H. Netter, M.D. The Clemente book is good because it gives descriptions on each plate, and there are tables that are very informative. However, the pictures are not always accurate and the labeling of structures is very limited. I bought the book with the CD-ROM and if I could I would give the CD about 2.5 stars. It is not worth the money. I was very dissapointed. If you want a more complete atlas, buy Netter(I would recommend the edition with the CD - it is very good)(Rohen-Color Atlas of Anatomy-is also VERY good). If you want a more introductory atlas for someone starting out in anatomy, Clemente will suffice. ... Read more
