5-0 out of 5 stars An excellent book!!
This book is truly the bible for orthodontics. It covers all aspects of orthodontics in detail with excellent diagrams and pictures. The only book you will need.

5-0 out of 5 stars Contemporary Orthodontics
It's the bible of Orthodontics written by the man himself.

4-0 out of 5 stars Good, but not the best
A good book about orthodontics, but Graber's is more complete.

5-0 out of 5 stars Comments on "Contemporary Orthodontics"
An Excellent Book for General Practioners contemplating orthodontics in their practice who want to understand more deeply the treatment they deliver.

Not recommended for undergraduates as is too detailed.

1-0 out of 5 stars Boring!!
I've never fall asleep reading a book. I fell asleep ready this book twise. BORING!!
It sure is wordy and waistful. I am an average "A-" student and usually don't critize any book but this one I felt that I waisted my money. Content is disorganized. WORDY. This book makes me hate dentistry because of so much garbage is in it, not enough content...
Don't buy this one, you'll regred.

1-0 out of 5 stars It's got too much word than information itself
It had some OK pictures and the context is not well organized.
Paragraphs are too long and doesn't attract readers attentaion because of too much word then the content itself. I met Dr. Cohen in San Francisco and found him to be a good Sales man then a good Doctor or an Author. I've attended his lectures and find him too wordy and not enough meat in his lectures either. Not sure why so many Professor still recommend him.
Personally I think this book should be utilized as recycling item because I didn't get any useful information out of it. Please try to read other dental authors book, for sure this one is NOT the one you really want to read. It's waist of money and your time.

2-0 out of 5 stars wordy, too much detail, too theoretical
This book snow-balls the reader with tons of trivial details that have little to do with clinical endodontic practice. It provides a confusing picture of how to function clinically. Out of touch with reality. I don't know why it is so standard in dental schools.

5-0 out of 5 stars All comprehensive and detail endodontic theory and practice
This book is the most in depth, scholarly written book on endo on the market next to the Dental Pulp (by Seltzer). There's ample literature references in each chapter and it's a great preparation tool for specialty boards. While the book is too science based/not enough show-and-tell for most predoctoral students and general dentists (Endodontic Therapy, by Walton is a better choice there), Pathways is best for post doctoral students and practicing endodontists.

4-0 out of 5 stars Great Pictures of access openings
I still use this book when I do endo. The pictures of access openings for EVERY TOOTH are a great help. There is a page or 2 devoted to each tooth, with many possible canal variations, and average canal lengths. Good for a beginner, and for someone who still hasn't done enough endos to memorize the average lenght of every canal. ... Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars Only helpful for the PAT
...This book gave me some excellent pointers for the PAT. For the PAT review, I give it 4 1/2 stars (minus 1/2 a point for a few obvious errors of course.)

If you're looking for a good science review, this book will not help AT ALL. Not only were a few things it said totally opposite of what my o-chem book said (eg Sn2 and Sn1 reactions), but the review itself is so short and vague that it doesn't help with the numerous details you have to know for the DAT. I strongly recommend an MCAT book - such as the Betz Guide ("Complete Preparation") - for science review. These books not only provide detailed review but also many, many practice questions as well as explanations for each one.

This book does not solely focus on the DAT though, and I enjoyed it for the extra material it included such as sample essays and interviews with dentists.

4-0 out of 5 stars some helpful stuff
I found this book to be a good resource for applying to dental school as my prehealth office had next to nothing to offer.

The supplemental info and the pat sections were helpful. Some of the review material was of benefit- however, some information was skimmed over.

I recommend purchasing several guides for your preparation- definitely get an MCAT guide for the science sections- this guide was cheap so I picked it up as well as others- and it did help.

and don't stress untill you get your scores back- I thought I bombed the test and ended up doing really well--Good luck studying-

3-0 out of 5 stars Review from a Returning Student
I am a returning student and have been out of college for some time. This book is not an adequate review for returning students. The review sections are very basic. I would reccommend getting the Schaums outlines for Biology and Chemistry instead. However, the PAT section of this book is very good. It is well worth the cost just for this section of the book. I would also reccommend getting the Top Score CD for a more adequate representation of the DAT. If your wondering how I did, I made a 20 on the Academic Average and an 18 on the PAT. Not bad for someone who hasn't looked at a textbook in 3 years.

2-0 out of 5 stars The PAT section is the only good section
...according to the author at www.dentalschooladmission.com

-Michael, Pre-dent

2-0 out of 5 stars It's ok
Like many other customers who reviewed this book, I have to say that this book does have a lot of mistakes in every section, however for the PAT section it will definatly help you out by giving you some good info on how to do well, but as I mentioned before when you'll be doing one book's test be prepared in getting a lot of "wrong" answers do to the lots of mistakes in the book. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Delmar's Dental Assisting Review
MONEY WELL SPENT! I thought this book was very helpful. It covered everything. I was very happy with the information presented. A large amount of information that I studied in the book was on the exam. I have already recommended it to two other people.

5-0 out of 5 stars Delmar's Dental Assisting Exam Review
I looked at several review books before I took my exam and found this particular book to be THE BEST!! It covered everything that was on the exam and the information was accurate and helpful. I thought the exam at the end of the book was a good refresher and the end of the chapter review was helpful. I would highly recommend this book to anyone who is about to take the National Board.

1-0 out of 5 stars very disappointed in study book
i have been a dental assistant for over 10 years, my employer paid for me to take the danb test, a dental assistant teacher had recommended this particular book,i studied this book for over two months, there was nothing that i found helpful in this book to help with the test, as a matter of fact out of the 320 questions on the danb test there may have actually only been (maybe) 10 out of this particular book, what a disappointment, do not waste your money on this book. also probably 80% of the danb test was radiology. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars AN EXCELLENT BOOK! YOU HAVE TO BUY THIS BOOK!
I had a chance to check this book out of the library for two weeks and then I bought one. This book really prepares you for the National Board. It covers the materials, it gives you case studies, and it tests your knowledge at the end of each section. The material is very well written and easy to understand and it has a mock test in the back to see how well you know your material. I was reviewing perio and radio and I was learning new material that my instructors didn't cover and understanding concepts that were not clear to me. The book is so well written that I couldn't put it down. Buy this book! Even when your done with the National Boards its great referance to have around. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Suzanne Knows Her Stuff
There are a lot of books on dental practice management. Many of them are based on ideas that feel good or that worked in one dentist's office. "Mystery Patients" is different. What makes it such a valuable practice management resource is that Suzanne Boswell has taken the trouble to actually research what works and what doesn't. She does this in two different ways.
The first way relates to her use of the title, "Mystery Patient." When she is hired as a consultant, she first makes an appointment with the practice under a pseudonym. She then visits the practice before the doctor or staff have met her so she can see it through the eyes of the patient. You may wonder why the cover shows her wearing a mask. This is so that, if you hire her as a consultant, you won't be able to recognize her when she shows up in your chair--hence, she is the "mystery patient." From these visits, she has an objective view of how real dental practices really treat their patients.

Additionally, she conducts numerous surveys and focus groups to discuss with real people what dental office policies and behaviors turn them off and turn them on. The information she presents in her book is therefore of great worth, being based on actual findings. I have tried her ideas in my practice, and, without fail, they all work. Because of careful, objective research, she understands patients and the dental business. She gets five stars from me for that.

5-0 out of 5 stars Best information source on dental practice promotion
I have attended numerous dental practice promotion seminars over the past 25 years Nothing has grabbed my attention like this book. After 28 years in dental practice you make a lot of mistakes and rediscover a lot of truths that others have no doubt learnt the hard way.

Boy do I wish I had had this book in hand when I first started out. So much of what I see are the truths I rediscovered and so many of them are thing I was just beginning to discover after such a long time This book will short-circuit a very long learning process. Ever page contains a gem every chapter is a storehouse of invaluable money making tips and hints
