5-0 out of 5 stars Maternal-Neonatal Nursing (Bood edition)
Excellent books for reference. I used this book to review for the test and I got "A" for this subject. I recommend this book for the new nursing students.

5-0 out of 5 stars GREAT PRODUCT for class prep too
The previous reviewer was disappointed in the product, but they are not using it for its full potential. Springhouse just put out the Maternal Neonatal Incredibly Easy book and that's what the previous reviewer should have purchased if they wanted supplemental info for classroom work (gee, didn't they notice the description said it was a CD-ROM?!). This product is EXCELLENT not only for those students getting ready for HESI and NCLEX, but it IS an asset to those going through their nursing coursework. The product has 1000 questions catagorized within the major units of the subject of maternal and neonatal nursing. Students can access those subtopics pertaining to the material they are going over in class to use as a study aid when preparing for classroom tests. I am using the Phamacology book and CD-ROM to help me survive through Pharm this semester. What an asset! The Incredibly Easy series (books AND test question CD-ROMs) are great helps to get you through nursing school.

1-0 out of 5 stars This is not a book!
If you are a expecting a book with information this is not the product for you. However, if you are expecting a disc with many NCLEX style questions this product could be useful. I was wanting a review type book to augment my maternal-neonatal nursing class. I plan on keeping this product for future NCLEX review but it is not helpful for the typical student. ... Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars filled with errors
This book is filled with errors. The very first week I had it in class, I noticed several just in the genetics chapter alone! I was hoping to have an OB book to keep as a reference when I'm done with nursing school, but I don't feel that I'd be able to trust this book. If I found many errors in an area that I'm familiar with, how many errors are there that I'm unable to discern since I'm not yet familiar with that material? Many of my classmates found additional errors, and also feel that the book is untrustworthy. It's too bad, because I'm sure that the book does contain worthwhile information. I'm sorry that I wasted the money on this book. I plan to invest my money in a medical OB book instead. ... Read more

With the changing climate surrounding infertility services, we may soon find that infertility counseling is mandated by law or recommended by practice guidelines. Therefore, clinicians urgently need a comprehensive reference on infertility counseling. This softcover edition of Burns and Covington's comprehensive handbook was developed especially for physicians and mental health professionals. It represents a new kind of clinical textbook, necessitated by today's rapidly advancing reproductive technologies and by the complexity of issues facing infertile couples. The book contains nine multi-chapter sections that cover the psychological and medical aspects of infertility, assessment, treatment, counseling, third-party reproduction, alternative family building, post-infertility counseling, and the professional practice of infertility counseling. 5-0 out of 5 stars Can't refer to a specialist? Use this book!
When managed care makes it impossible to refer a client to someone who specializes in infertility, here is the book that will make you feel confident about your work. And when you don't have time to read a whole book at once, here is the book that allows you to choose the chapters you need when you need them. The impressive array of interdisciplinary experts follow the same format in each chapter, making cross-references for the reader very easy. This book is truly comprehensive, including topics such as "Special Populations" and "Adoption after Infertility", along with the practical guidelines we all want but which are often lost amidst theory and statistics in other books. The appendices and resource section are especially impressive. There are questionnaires, guidelines, consent forms, and a record-keeping form. The resources section has over 20 pages ofdouble-column entries. The authors have organized a stunning amount of information in a way that is useful to clinicians new to infertility issues and to those with experience who want to learn more

5-0 out of 5 stars Updated.... complete.... excellent resource
My copy of this new edition just arrived, and I'm thrilled with it! More color, more summaries, more of everything... Certainly a nursing text book is not going to hit the Best Seller List, but this one should be on every nurse's wish list. While its target audience is nursing students, the book is a great reference for experienced nurses, too. It covers all aspects of women's health care, from well woman exams, to birth control, and pregnancy to menopause.

New additions to this, the 7th Edition, include expanded information on health and risk assessment, psychosocial issues, Spanish/English translations to facilitate care, information on alternative and complementary health care, and a CD ROM with addtiional resources, study guides, and illustrations.

The editors and contributors have provided an excellent resource for nurses involved in all phases of women's health care. ... Read more

Have you ever needed to look up a word for extra clarification, flipped back to the glossary and found what you were looking for? Can't do that with this book - no glossary. Have you ever read textbooks that had bolded words to make them easier to find? McKinney never did. They italisized their words making them HARDER to find. It's the wordiest book I've ever read and I have 3 degrees. It's overpriced and should be banned from college bookstores.

While I am not a "mainstream " childbirth educator, there are many aspects of this book that I have found myself referring back to during my teaching career. It was very helpful in learning about the adult learner and thier particular physical, emotional , sociocultural and cognitive needs. The chapter on the "the basis of relaxation" was very interesting as it helped me understand the history of using relaxation in childbirth and the different philosphies behind each technique. Biofeedback, therapeutic touch and acupressure were presented in an extremely informative manner. The basics of the childbirth education business arepresented( something that can be overlooked in most teachers passion for their "Cause"). (From the Foreword by Richard H. Schwarz, M.D., Obstetrical Consultant to the March of Dimes

Statistics indicate that up to 700,000 expectant women a year -- that's one in five mothers-to-be -- are prescribed bed rest as treatment during complicated pregnancies.Bed rest might sound like a relief at first -- but the combination of a possible high-risk birth and a lengthy period of staying off your feet can be stressful.

5-0 out of 5 stars Very helpful!!
I was already on bed rest for three weeks when my husband purchased this book for me. This book not only validates your feelings (i.e., Why me?), but can help any family members who read it to understand them as well. My other children are 12 and 14, and had taking care of Mom had become very old very fast, but after reading this book, they realized how I felt about having to rely on others so much, and more importantly, they realized they weren't taking care of Mom so much as taking care of the baby brother they both wanted so desperately! Their attitudes changed 100 percent!
One of my favorite features of this book is that the author ends each chapter with a list of resources. Everything from books to websites to phone numbers for support groups is included. A most important feature of this book is that it clearly explains, often through stories shared by others who have been through this experience, WHY it is so important to do as the doctor suggested, and stay off your feet. She also includes a very handy checklist in the book to take to the doctor's office so the doctor can check off EXACTLY what you can and cannot do. I liked this feature because my doctor had told me to stay off my feet--but did that mean complete bed rest? Could I get up to fix meals? Could I go for outings in a wheelchair, etc?
I still have almost eleven weeks of bed rest left to go, but it is somewhat more bearable thanks to this book. I have also ordered several of the other books reccommended by this author from the library. At least I will be using my 'horizontal time' constructively!

3-0 out of 5 stars A good book, but comes up short
I have read every bed rest book I could find. This is not the best. The author has attempted to write a comprehensive book, and does a good job, just not great. There are better. It's very short, and after reading it, which took a couple of hours at most, I felt like I didn't have enough information. I wish the author would have had more experience with extended hospital bed rest. That would have been beneficial.

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent book!
This book is so helpful, easy to read and inspiring! Wish it was longer. A must read for those on bed rest for any duration.

3-0 out of 5 stars Short, brief, but has some good ideas
This is good, and helpful, it's just short. I was on the bedrest much longer than this author, and her suggestions weren't as helpful as I hoped they would be. I will be buying the other bedrest books for more suggestions.

5-0 out of 5 stars Indispensable - Absolutely Fantastic!
This is a *wonderful* book for any pregnant mother who is dealing with bed rest! The author is a veteran of two complicated pregnancies involving extended bed rest and she has put together an amazing amount of information and resources in this book. I wish I'd had this book for my first two pregnancies and am SO GLAD to have it for my third!

The author includes a huge amount of information and practical suggestions for coping with bed rest. She gives great suggestions on how to get the help a bed rest mom will need and where to find the resources that might be available to help these mothers and their families. She also discusses in great detail both hospital bed rest and bed rest in the home.

There is also a fantastic section on coping with bed rest when one already has other children [and how to help the children cope!], as well as a great section on fathers.

I would recommend this book to any mother facing bed rest in her pregnancy - whether this is her first pregnancy or her fifth! This book is just overflowing with great information and is very encouraging and helpful. It is also a very easy and enjoyable book to read. It is very well written and worth every cent! ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Helpful in limiting amount of notes that need to be taken
This series of books is very helpful and full of information that the huge textbooks have but very condensed. Great to make additional notes in the margins that the textbook deems is necessary information to acquire. ... Read more
