2-0 out of 5 stars Very basic !!! Not good MCAT preparation.
The cards covered a large portion of the material from the basic science classes but none were detailed or challenging. Some were almost laughable. For instance one of the cards asks what is the cell membrane. Lots of questions of this calliber.
Anyone preparing for medical school needs more challenging cards. These seem more appropriate for a high school student honestly.
The cards will probably help if you haven't taken sciences in a while or are just starting to study, but otherwise pass these up.

5-0 out of 5 stars Solid of review of basic science
If you have forgotten your freshman science, this product will bring it all back. I used these cards to jog my memory. Without remembering the basic building blocks of introductory science we will never be equipped to answer more challenging questions on the MCAT. I recommend this product as a first step before moving on to more advanced review books with sample tests.

3-0 out of 5 stars Okay for the price
Although they contain several errors, these cards have a lot of information. They're decent for studying, especially considering their price. However, I recommend making your own if you have the time.

1-0 out of 5 stars Worse than useless
These cards are absolutely terrible. First, they're full of information that simply won't be tested on the MCAT -- plant biology, constants that don't have to be memorized, and nearly useless formulas and definitions. Second, there are several errors, and there are at least two pairs of cards that are exact duplicates. Third, they're not nearly in-depth enough or specific enough. They don't help you remember the hardest MCAT material -- the hard-to-remember formulas aren't tested, and the difficult details aren't asked for. They'll only give you a false sense of security. I don't recommend buying these cards unless you actually want to hurt your MCAT score. What a waste of $11.

2-0 out of 5 stars Not really worth the time
I was not impressed with these cards. They offer an incomplete review of only select basic material. Plus, the cards are too tiny and flimsy. I looked at them a few times and then never used them again. These types of flash cards are only useful if you need a few quick facts... not explanations. Also, I found a few errors on the cards... Charles' and Boyle's Law.... Better look that one up instead. ... Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars This book will probably decrease your MCAT score!
PLease, do not make the same mistake I did, that is, buying this book 3 weeks before the MCAT to study. This book is inaccurate in many areas at best and insulting to one's intellegence at worst. It only covers about 75-80% of the material you need to know! Unacceptable if you are relying on this for a comprehensive study. Stay away from this one!

1-0 out of 5 stars An Embarrassment to Princeton Review
I can no longer trust this book. At first I thought it was just accidental deletions and sloppy editing, but the outright conceptual mistakes in the subject matter make me wonder about who was writing some of it. It's truly hard to believe that Princeton Review would put out something of this quality but it looks like I'll have to shell out another 60 bucks on a different book. I want my money back!

2-0 out of 5 stars Decent but not great.
This book explains materials very well and the multiple choice questions are good. However, there are many mistakes especially in orgo. I also found that some topics were completely omitted(like blood groups in Biology)and many other things. The verbal questions were too easy and insufficient

2-0 out of 5 stars Appalling mistakes in organic chemistry section
I am a Ph.D. graduate student in organic chemistry looking to apply to medical schools next year. I came upon a question on p. 739 of this edition that is incorrect in several aspects.

First, the reaction stated in the problem: 1-ethoxy-1-methoxy ethanol + bromide -----> 1-ethoxy-1-methoxy ethyl bromide + water, will not proceed at all. 1-ethoxy-1-methoxy ethanol does not exist as a stable species -- it will decompose rapidly. Say, hypothetically, that the reaction DOES proceed: the product, 1-ethoxy-1-methoxy ethyl bromide, will rapidly decompose as well.

Secondly, of the four multiple choice answers offered, none is applicable to the stated problem.

Lastly, the authors' explanation of the problem is wholly incorrect. The starting material is NOT a primary alcohol and cannot undergo any type of substitution (SN1 or SN2), especially in light of the poor nucleophile (bromide). Again, hypothetically, if the authors had incorrectly named the structure! ,(the only other logical possibility being 2-ethoxy-2-methoxy ethanol, a primary alcohol) the reaction would still not proceed, because the alcohol functionality is a poor leaving group.

I would strongly recommend looking elsewhere for organic chemistry aids for the MCAT, as this book contradicts many fundamental organic chemistry concepts.

1-0 out of 5 stars Princeton Review needs to reevaluate this edition!
I am preparing for the August MCAT and can no longer continue to use this book. There are indeed errors throughout the 4th edition. And the paper that it is printed on is weak and low quality. As you study about blood pressure, you might feel yours rise dangerously due to this book's inability to present the material as clear as it is advertised. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars review
This book is very frank about what it takes to get into med school. It is, at times, inspiring in that it made me want to pursue a career in medicine even more. But, the book is also very honest about the difficulty of getting into school as well as the not-so-fabulous aspects of being a doctor. I think it's a must-read for any serious pre-med.

4-0 out of 5 stars Great Resource
This is a great book to use if you want honest, useful information on medical schools. Maria Lofftus, the author, was on the admissions committee at UC San Diego Medical School and does a great job of breaking down the process. One drawback: the book is hard to navigate through.

4-0 out of 5 stars Good Preparation
This has all of the information needed to apply and become accepted at the medical school of your choice.

2-0 out of 5 stars Not much help.
Unfortunatly, for those who are attempting to go to medical school, this book will not be much help. I found it to be extremely general and any information present in this book you either already know, or is completely useless. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Finally...much needed MCAT assistance
This book is great. It has all of the explanations to the MCAT exams administered by AAMC. It makes no sense to know the right answer without knowing why it is the right answer. This is a great supplement to your MCAT materials.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Review, Lots of Orgo Details
The writing style is like a tutor teaching. No one should write the MCAT without first doing the exams/problems from the AAMC. As far as I know, the silver bullet is the only book that reviews the AAMC Practice Items and the first 2 tests. You still need to buy the AAMC`s stuff but the silver bullet is an excellent compliment.

2-0 out of 5 stars explanations pedestrian, but at least available
silver bullet offers solutions for the lowest common denominator. very basic explanations, often verbose yet incomplete. the extraneous practice questions are not very challenging. this book should *only* be used as an appendage to the more substantial princeton/kaplan reviews. i suggest you buy this book only if you are in dire need of solutions for aamc tests 1 or 2.

5-0 out of 5 stars Recommended by professional admissions consultants
If you want to ace the real MCAT, you must write previous real exams under real test conditions. This book contains explanations to the answers of the MCAT Practice Tests that are released by the Association of American Medical Colleges (AAMC). This text also includes a full-length simulated MCAT exam along with answers and explanations, equation lists to memorize for the exam, and an organic chemistry summary. We highly recommend that you use this book along with the AAMC's prior exam questions book.

5-0 out of 5 stars The Silver Bullet: Real MCATs Explained

5-0 out of 5 stars Far beyond Kaplen!
The Examkrackers' MCAT review subjects are absolutely fabulous!! In comparing the Kaplen review with the Examkracker review, subject by subject, I'd give Examkrackers an A+ and Kaplen a B-. I can't stress Examkrackers superiority enough! Extremely thorough! In addition, font and color variations in the Examkrackers books are used to emphasize the most important material. It also helps to break up the monotonous task of reviewing... My only complaint is with the "1001 questions..." volumes. While EK's pick the toughest stand-alone questions, there are no passage-based questions in the "1001 questions..." series. However, EK's naturally includes passage-based questions in the subject review volumes... I have both the Biology and Organic Chemistry volumes (along with the 1001 questions for each), and both far exceed Kaplen!

4-0 out of 5 stars Re: The best MCAT Biology review out there
I was enrolled in the Princeton Review Course during this summer in order to take the MCAT in August, while the physical sciences were very well covered by the Princeton Review themselves, the Biology portion on the other hand was way overblown. They had over 300 pages of Biology Facts and Materials of which the majority is not even tested on the MCAT. So, when I ordered the Examkrakers Biology book I was much relieved to see that the info is condensed into half the pages and it was also written in a much easy to read and friendly manner. They emphasized matering the basics which can be used to answer the more complex facts tested on the MCAT. I just took my MCAT and I have to say that this book helped a lot.

4-0 out of 5 stars Must have to understand and do well on the MCAT.
This book gives you all the information you need for the MCAT and then some for background information. The book helps you prepare very well and the background information helps you understand those dense passages that are just testing simple science. Just having taken the MCAT 4-20-02, this book definitely helped me decipher those dense passages on the biological sciences section.

5-0 out of 5 stars Best of the Series
After taking a commercial prep course and using this series of books, I've realized that Examkrackers materials are far superior to the commerically available ones. The conceptual background is strong enought that these books could be used alone to even learn the material. The 30 minute practice tests at the end of each chapter are comparable in diffficulty and style to the real thing, even with a scale.

5-0 out of 5 stars No need for any other books!!
The complete set of MCAT prep books written by Jon Orsay are absolutely fundamental in order to feel confident on exam day. No other book gives you exactly what to know and nothing more! Taking the course along with the books is definitely more reassuring, but the books themselves are phenomenal and will help anyone at any level achieve a better MCAT score. I would strongly recommend using this set of books for your preperation for what is a very challenging exam. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars The definitive book for nontraditional students
This is the only book I could find that dealt directly with issues that the nontraditional applicant would face in applying to medical school. I highly recommend it for applicants who are older, have a non-science degree or have other obstacles to overcome in applying to medical school. One chapter is devoted to success stories of applicants who had huge obstacles to overcome and still were able to do the impossible - getting accepted into medical school despite these barriers. Very inspiring!

4-0 out of 5 stars Fairly good and suitable
This book contains a reasonably large amount of useful information. Finding one book or even one source of all your med school information should not be anyone's goal. It is an easy read with a vast range of topics which are all applicable. One of the most important parts of the book includes a listing and run down of almost every med school in the country, including gpa and mcat statistics, and tuition.

1-0 out of 5 stars worthless
All the information contained in this book is available online, free. Being someone with a love of science, I hated his tone. He concentrates too much on the non-traditional applicant, he who didn't major in science. I should have started reading this book before I bought it, I wasted my money.
If you are an non-tradional applicant, you might like the book. If you are majoring in any science or engineering, don't dare buy this book.

1-0 out of 5 stars Not for a college pre med
I found this book to be fairly useless for a regular premed. It features mostly non traditional students who "beat the odds" and make it in. If you're a normal pre med in college, you're not going to glean anything from this except that maybe you should study harder so you can avoid some of these problems. Examcrackers has a great forum for real premed advice for everyone.

4-0 out of 5 stars worth the read, worth the bucks

5-0 out of 5 stars A Great Start!
This book provides a fairly comprehensive overview of the physics you'll need for the MCAT with easy to read and digest chapters (not just formulas - real physics) and 50+ practice problems for each section. The questions don't reflect the MCAT format, but they will drill in the relationships you'll need to know and help you remember the basic formulae for the exam. I'd look at a real MCAT test after starting here.

5-0 out of 5 stars This book helped me double my MCAT score!
By using this book, I doubled my MCAT physcial sciences score from 5 to 10, with a 34S overall. This book is very thorough, but not boring. It is very helpful, even if physics terrfies you. The comfortable writing style helps you get over your fears and allows you to learn a lot. I can't recomend this book highly enough. The text is easy to read and understand, and the questions are the best out there for MCAT physics review. Buy this book early and give yourself time to work through it -- you will end up feeling very comfortable in the physical sciences test. I wish the author would write a similar book for every other MCAT subject, but I guess we can't get everything that we want!

5-0 out of 5 stars looking for a copy!!!
I've been trying to find a copy of this book online, but haven't had much luck. apparently it won't come until august if i get it from amazon, which isn't much help since i need it to study for the august mcat. if anyone has a copy i can buy off of them, please let me know. thanks!!! my email addy is asneha@hotmail.com

5-0 out of 5 stars Who is afraid of the big bad MCAT?
Absolute best in MCAT physics prep. It really put the Kaplan book to shame. ~50+ questions / chapter, half of which are near MCAT in style and difficulty. I trully believe that every last conceptual MCAT question is covered in this book. 10-15 page descriptions of each subject followed by several pages means you get it right even if physics is not your expertise. My experience in physics is only based on an accelerated summer course... so I definitely needed the help. The author is very clear and breaks down each subject into obvious/common sense approaches. The writing is very basic and easy to follow, but I definitely took guilty pleasure in the joke passages that were in every chapter. I guess Biehle has to have a sense of humor considering he got a doctorate in physics (the laughter hides the crying, I understand Biehle).

If you read this book from cover to cover and do all the questions, there is no way you can get less than a 85% of the physics questions on your physical sciences.

5-0 out of 5 stars MCAT Physics Book
The MCAT Physics Book is a wonderful tool in helping prospective medical students acheive high scores on the Physical Sciences section of the MCAT. This book provides the most comprehensive review of physics avalible in prep books, and it provides numerous examples and MCAT style physics questions with thorough explanations. Even though its MCAT style questions are more difficult than the actual exam, it greatly prepares testakers for the challenges they face on the real exam. In my physics classes, I did not do particularly well in them, and this is the reason why I purchased the MCAT Physics Book. Before I used this book to study for the MCAT, my physical sciences section was a 9; but after preparing myself with this book, my score jumped to a 12 on the MCAT. I highly recomend this book for everyone, especially students that had little physics or did not do well in their physics classes. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Concise review of Biology and Verbal portions of the MCAT
This book covers all the basics of biology. For someone like me, who had a lacking undergrad bio course, this book helps. The diagrams throughout the book are very helpful because they give you another way of remembering the concepts. This book is limited with testing questions, and is better used as a study aid. All in all, this is great for reviewing bio, but it should not be your only source of studying for the MCAT bio section. I have not yet looked at the verbal section, but it looks promising.

3-0 out of 5 stars Good book for reviewing biology
This book gives you a good, but brief overview of the MCAT Biology and Verbal portions. It doesn't cover organic chemistry except to the extent that it overlaps with Biology.

The expanations are brief and concise and contain only the most important principles for MCAT testing purposes. It does not give test taking strategy, and it does not give many examples (one per major biology area), but the questions it does give are of high MCAT intensity.

I would recommend this book to two classes of people:

1) Those who took biology some time ago and wanted to review for the MCAT with the important biology priciples.

2) Those who have not taken biology and needed to take the MCAT in spite of this deficeincy. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Be realistic
obviously not everyone who reads this book will get a 45. That said, this was the only book i used.
No one book will get you a 45. to get a "45" you need to be in the 37-45 range knowledge-wise and get really lucky on test day. This book is good (and i'd reccomend it to everyone) for teaching you NOT to freak when you get hit with a nasty passage and for teaching you how to think when background knowledge can't help you out. I know that in my free mcat test prep program, i will encourage all of my students to get and work through this book- you just need to be very clear that this is not what the MCAT will consist of, and that after suffering through this book, the real test will be that much easier.
To be honest this book is EXACTLY what is says it is. It's brutal and it will help you a lot if you're in the top group of test takers and a marginal amount if you're not. I ended up with a 15PS 15BS and 13VR for a 43S. Did this book get me that score? heck no. did it help somewhat? yeah. spend the 20 bucks here and ditch the worthless 1500 dollar prep course (i never took any form of paid-prep). if you enroll in rough classes and review your textbooks, you can do as well if not better; just be realistic.

1-0 out of 5 stars Not Relevant
Having just taken the MCAT I would definately reccomend that you dont use this book. The material it covers just is not applicable to the MCAT. The book definitely has difficult questions but I didnt see a single question like this on the MCAT. Your time is better spent taking real practice exams instead of working on these problems. If you do buy the book dont be discouraged if you have trouble with the problems because this is NOT an accurate reflection of the real MCAT.

3-0 out of 5 stars if you've got nothing but time
the exuberant review is probably a product of the writer's own elation at his/her score. this book is merely another in the long list of practices you can trudge through on your way to mcat perfection. taking the test in both april & august of 2002, i found the MCAT45 passages completely irreverent of typical aamc style--not neccessarily a bad literary decision, but not a true indicator of the mcat. some questions may border on the convoluted/esoteric side. however, they are managable if you have a good grasp of all your review material. i found them comparable to the princeton review practice tests A-D. conclusion: buy this if you have finished all your review material & want to keep working, if only to keep you in the habit.

1-0 out of 5 stars Kaplan, Ka-plan to fail the MCAT
This book was ill-suited to prepared ANYONE for the August 2002 MCAT. The other review was obviuosly written by a Kaplan Mole. No way was it that good. They did not prepare me for how the MCAT was organized, nor how the questions were asked. I floundered and stammered through the test.

My score was a 32 on Practice Test IV, I was going for a 36. I'll be lucky if I don't have to take it again.

Good luck.

5-0 out of 5 stars My score: 15 BS / 14 PS / 13+ VR / T writing sample ==> 42!
This was the most valuable of the many books I used to prepare for the MCAT. I started using it when my diagnostic scores hit 34; at that point most of the material out there was a waste of my time. I really need super-hard passages to practice on. I worked through every passage in this book, which usually meant doing it once in the appropriate amount of time, then spending a few hours re-learning the very hardest material. By the end of my prep, I wasn't attending my Princeton Revew course anymore; I was just working alone with several supplementary textbooks for 1st year med students, and these really difficult passages.

It's an illusion that any one course or book will prepare you for the MCAT. What I did was chart my own course through the material. I regularly assessed what material I knew well, and what material I needed to really zero in on. No book or prep program can know as well as you do what material you don't know. Be *active* in your prep. Remember that doing passages is not enough; you have to learn the material at a higher level than you needed to for your pre-med courses.

Another thing to keep in mind is timing. If you're getting solidly in the mid 30s, you should stop wasting time figuring out which passages to do and which to skip. The fastest way through is to do all of the questions in order. I had 5 minutes or more left in each of the sections except writing sample.

The key thing, the absolute key, is to regularly prepare with passages that are killers. That way the actual exam feels easy, and you get practice reasoning through the toughest stuff. For every single passage you do, and especially the hard ones, if you get the answer wrong or had to guess, review the material associated with the entire passage. Frequently you'll have to re-learn it at a deeper level. Build rules of thumb as you go, and keep track of them on paper. I found it useful to keep track of the sorts of questions/topics I got wrong, and build a list of heuristics to get them *right*.

Note, though, that the name of this book is misleading. Since VR scoring only goes up to 13, the highest score possible is 15 + 15 + 13 = 43. For the writing sample, the highest score possible is T. So, yes, I got a 42 T, which is one point below the highest score possible. But here's the thing: I'm bright, but I'm not a genius. What I am is extremely motivated, and I worked extremely hard from November to April preparing for this test. Great scores are possible. This book isn't the whole package; you'll have to build your own whole package -- but include this book in it. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Clear explanations
I found the science review to be very clear, lots of illustrations especially clear review in organic chemistry and physics. I felt there could have been more verbal review info but the 3 exams were tough enough to make up for it. Overall: excellent!

1-0 out of 5 stars Thank god I'm not the only one!!!
I worked through the 6 biological sections and found multiple mistakes. Eventhough my copy is from 96, they still haven't changed the test format in the 2000 revision. In fact all of the incorrect answers are still in the new book.

A few caveats; 1. the review sections aren't the worst. I read through them for a general level of understanding. For any in depth information refer to a textbook. 2. The physical science section is difficult. However, if you can work through the tests it will help..

1-0 out of 5 stars This book is not as good as it promises to be.
Although this book does have six full exams as promised, they are not in proper mcat format and do not match the difficulty level of the real exam. It is an O.K. book if you want to reinforce the basics, but your performance on these exams would be a poor indicator on how you would do on the actual test.

1-0 out of 5 stars what a waste
this is a really terrible book! The verbal section has only 7 passages. It really messes your timing up when you are really taking the test. Plus, the questions are a joke. The physical sciences and bio. sections are filled with errors, which required way too many calculations in a timed test. The mcat is about timing, strategy, and intelligence. This text fails at two out of these three criteria. The latter is due inheritance. And the editor claims that this text is up-to-date(Actual Publishing date is 1991).

1-0 out of 5 stars Way off the mark!
This book features six "mcat-like" exams that are anything but "mcat-like". This is especially true for the sciences, notably the physical science sections. Quite simply, the exams ask you to do way too much calculating (with numbers that are next to impossible to handle without a calculator) and the real tests aren't like that. You can't do all that math (which you won't have to on the real thing) and keep your pace up. Don't bother with it.

3-0 out of 5 stars Med School Wannabee
THe book does a poor job of reviewing the information material. It only delineates a small portion of the information necessary. Other books are available and I really recommend Cloumbia Review, Kaplan, Flowers and Peterson's for tests and information. But the MCAT tests the book offers is truly a rigorous work of art. It does not fully alighn with MCAT questions;however, it makes you think and conceive the questions in your head. I took the MCAT a second time with using this book and I scored a 35. Maybe it was the book and Columbia review that really assited me, as well as a lot of tireless hours over 6 months. ... Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars Time-wasting if not skill-diminishing
I've read this book for LSAT prep. While the selection of passages is excellent, crafting of questions is simply a bad joke. To be precise, it is mostly the answer choices that makes this book time-wasting, if not skill-diminishing. The answer choices in this book are just not the kind of choices that appear in an actual test. Especially annoying is that many "right" answer choices can be right only after a very very long stretch of logic, which NEVER happens in a real test.

4-0 out of 5 stars Excellent study tool
This book helps the reader learn the correct way to annotate and outline the paragraphs on the reading comprehension section of the GRE*MCAT*LSAT*GMAT. It was very helpful.

1-0 out of 5 stars NOT WORTH
I have reviewed the first 3 chapters which contains explaination given by the author to tackle the reading comprehension questions. But to co-relate the theory(explaination given by author) to the practice questions is practically not possible.

MY CONFIDENCE HAS NOT INCREASED BY ANY CHANCE!!!!!!!!!!!!! READING THIS BOOK. ... Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars Save your money
This book is very, very out of date. Don't waste your time or your money. The exams also have a wierd different format. Invest in Exam krackers, Kaplan or Princeton.

1-0 out of 5 stars This Book is an Utter Waste
I would strongly recommend that you NOT buy this book. It's an utter waste of time. The biology review section is hardly comprehendable, and concentrates on such minute and ridiculous details that it's far more frustrating than productive to read. The organic chem review section is a joke, and is only a few pages long. The practice tests have questions that are not representative of those appearing on the actual exam. The only section in the pratice exams that MIGHT be remotely useful is the verbal section. But even here, while the passasges are okay, the questions are not very representative of those on the actual exam. With horrible review sections and practice tests that are even worse, this book is a complete waste of your money. I got duped into buying it becasue the price was so much lower than the price on other review books. Now I know why. You'd be much better off paying the ~$50 for the Kaplan MCAT review boook, which is far more comprehensive and useful.

1-0 out of 5 stars If you want to do well on the MCAT, DO NOT buy this book!
This book is a complete waste of time and money. The review section is way too general, and the four "model" examinations are both too easy and do not accurately reflect the actual content of the real exam. For example in the biological sciences sections, there were no organic chemistry questions at all, but instead an overwhelming majority of questions about human physiology. Anyone planning to take the MCAT would be better served by buying A) the released MCAT tests available from the AAMC and B) a better review book like Kaplan.

1-0 out of 5 stars Do not waste your time....
This book was a joke; if you plan on doing poorly on the MCAT waste your time learning from this book. I especially loathed the practice tests. I would suggest Kaplan for the 2000 MCAT.

1-0 out of 5 stars Lousy book
This book cannot even begin to prepare you with their very vague review of sciences. the practice tests are way too easy and have no reflectio whatsoever of the MCAT. Don't waste your time with it! ... Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars Officially the MCAT book with the worst tests.
The exams in the book are plain silly, especially the verbal sections. Don't wast your time or money.

1-0 out of 5 stars BRUTAL
Despite the poor recommendations on this site, I bought this book because I ran out of AAMC practice tests to complete. Don't make the same mistake as me. There are typos, incorrect answers, and over-simplified tests (easier than the real test). Princeton Review should be embarrassed this book is still in print. I'm going to ask for my money back. Stick to the AAMC practice tests.

5-0 out of 5 stars The MCAT BIBLE
I have recently received 5 interviews from top prestigious medical schools in the U.S.. I can thank this book as part of my success. The Flowers practice exams gives you a template of what to expect when you step up to the real deal. I cannot emphasize how much working out practicing exams under real time constraints can really prepare you for a high score on the mcat. I firmly believe that this book would prepare your journey on entering med school.

1-0 out of 5 stars WORTHLESS
I honestly CANNOT recommend this book. There are few hints within the book and there are tons of mistakes. If one looks through the first practice exam, the answers in the back are incorrect. There are also tons of misspelling. Also, this test is definately not a good gauge for the MCAT. It is WAY TOO EASY! If you got the extra $ by all means go for it, but I mean you'll be very very disappointed with this book.

1-0 out of 5 stars not worth buying
This book is not really indicative of the real MCAT I took. It's great if you want to gain some confidence before the test but the sample tests are too simple. This book is really contradictory to the Princeton classes b/c everything in there is really hard. Overall, I wouldnt recommend neither the class nor this book. If you must, take Kaplan or buy a bunch of practice tests and just work on them. I increased my score from a 14 to a 32 after taking about 20+ practice exams over the course of 6 months. It's about stamina and strategy and lots of science knowlege. ... Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars Don't Buy This!
Not only does this book have mistakes, but it is nothing like a real MCAT. The form of almost half the questions is totally different. Additionally, all the passages are either much easier or much harder than an actual MCAT, I thought. There were also a lot of questions I thought were either questionable or just plain stupid. I wouldn't recommend this book to my worst enemy.

1-0 out of 5 stars Waste of time and money
this book is absolutely horrible- it's full errors that make you want to tear the book apart from frustration. i can't believe they're still promoting this version. do not buy. don't waste your money. go for either kaplan or princeton review.

1-0 out of 5 stars ARCO MCAT Sample Exams 4th Ed
This is the worst practice test/MCAT prep book out there. Numerous mistakes of every kind. Stay away like the plague.

1-0 out of 5 stars Same Exams all over again
These folks have been using the same exams for years (and they're not terribly good interms of accuracy to the MCAT format). Not worth it.

1-0 out of 5 stars Move On: More Harmful Than Helpful
This text was such a waste of money. The editor's of these tests did absolutely nothing, as far as I'm concerned. An example, there was a independent question in the physical sciences that had no correct answer. Do you know how frustrating that is after taking a day long test? That's not it. The exam was littered with errors and even more incorrect answers. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars A worthwhile addition...
Like others, I found the verbal sections to be near-useless. However, the science sections more than make up for that shortcoming. They're great practice; just a touch harder than the actual sections on the test in my experience. The book isn't perfect, but it's a good buy and worth using.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great for practice
Excellent book, the three tests were very much like the real MCAT, although some questions are a little off-the-wall overall, the book is excellent, definitely worth getting.

A MUST HAVE book

3-0 out of 5 stars GREAT FOR THE SCIENCES!
This book has very good practice tests for the science sections (although there are a few errors here and there. If you know your stuff, you'll be able to pick them out and they won't phase you. For example, in two places they ask you to name an organic compound, and don't name it correctly in any of the choices!!!) Despite these tiny errors, the practice tests are very good and very helpful....EXCEPT THE VERBAL SECTIONS!!! SKIP THE VERBAL SECTIONS - there are MANY questions which have more than one correct answer in the choices, some questions which have no correct answers and the occasional question which asks for your opinion!!!! you'd never see any question without ONE correct answer on the MCAT and these verbal sections will drive you nuts! I'd still get the book and substitute a different verbal for the ones here.

4-0 out of 5 stars Best practice tests I've seen
Though this book has a few mistakes, the question formats in the science sections are just like those of the MCAT, and the explanations are great. The authors didn't cut corners by making up shoddy passages or trivial questions. These practice tests are as close to the real thing as they get.

4-0 out of 5 stars The tests are a good copy of the real thing.
The tests were a good challenge; however, the verbal section is not designed quite like that of the actual mcat but both test the same skills. There are few mistakes in the physical and biological sections, and some explanations for the verbal sections are confusing. Overall, these tests are a good imitation of the actual mcat. ...
