Helpful Information
This textbook provides the future health career student with basic entry-level knowledge required for their chosen profession. It contains twenty-two units ranging from Anatomy and Physiology to Business and Accounting Skills. These units are divided into two parts: Basic Health Care Concepts and Skills, and Special Health Care Skills. Each unit provides objectives and key terms that will be learned from that unit. Each section or chapter is well written with valuable information and helpful procedure hints. This book also contains a glossary to help with confusing terms, appendices including extra helpful information, and an index and table of contents for convenient reading. I highly recommend this particular textbook, I feel it is very informative and helpful towards my future career as a neurosurgeon.

Absolutely essential for introductory students in health occ
I have used this book since the first edition and wanted to kick myself when it came out for not publishing my curriculum and lesson plans at the time. Health Occupations was a new vocational course and most of us had to write our own material. When Louise Simmers published DHO, we all knew instantly that she had the best resource on the market. It stands up over time and each new edition keeps my students current and relevent in the changing world of health care. A Clear, Beautifully Told Collection of Pet Therapy Stories
Jacqueline Crawford and Karen Pomerinke have truly found words to express both the realistic descriptions and the emotional experiences involved in pet therapy. They have hit on so many of the miraculous benefits of this activity, demonstrating how the joy of participation goes both ways - to the recipient as well as to the donor. The book is well organized and documented with many descriptive photographs. It covers the surprisingly wide range of species involved in theraputic activities, proving that the animal-human bond extends beyond the canines, and therefore enlightning its importance. This book is a "must" for everyone involved in the healing professions.

"Pawsitively" Therapuetic Reading
I purchased this book because I have seen first hand the miracle of pets as therapeutic healers. My daughter gained much confidence about her Cerebral Palsy during Therapeutic Horseback Riding, eventually enough to own the most wonderful "therapist" named Penny. Their connection was so strong that Penny took great care of Ashley while on their "venting rides", where Ashley told her the most special of thoughts.
I am also a member of the Visiting Pet Program and the bond between our volunteers and their animals and what they hope to accomplish at every visit is extraordinary. Molly is a very special animal, a breed of her own, a "Gaffneyhound" who brings love and smiles to all she visits.
Our VPP group is proud of Molly and Lee, and you will enjoy the "tails" in this book about all of the special animals and their humans.

Heartwarming encouragement!!
This is a wonderful compliation of stories about a variety of therapy animals and the people they help. The story of my therapy dog (Marley) is featured in this book as well!! :) I have shared this book with collegues and it is a must have for people that would like to get animal assited therapy programs started. This book shows many examples of how animals can help people overcome a variety of challenges. I also think this book would be great for parents or realtives of those with special needs. It will inspire you and encourege alternatives to compliment more tradtional therapies. This is also a fantastic book if you like to read heartwarming stories about some amazing animals!

Jason is seven years old and in the second grade. He does well in school and interacts well with other children, although he prefers playing with children who are slightly younger than he is. Jason's parents have been divorced for two years, but he is close to both of them. Lately he has been given to fits of explosive anger. He is unresponsive to attempts at discipline by either his mother or his teacher. He often seems to withdraw into himself. Recently, he and another boy were arrested for starting a trash fire. Jason was referred to treatment by Child Protective Services following a report to CPS from Jason's teacher that there was reason to believe that his mother was physically abusing him. Based on these and other details provided in "The Case of Jason L."—including objective and projective test results—how would you characterize Jason's problem, and how would you apply your particular brand of play therapy in a clinical intervention with Jason? Great for PGY-1's and 2's in orthopaedics, ER residents
For the busy orthopaedic surgery and ER residents, this pocket "text" provides pertinent information regarding common fractures with focus on surgical options and relevant anatomy. Though not as detailed as other texts (i.e. Skeletal Trauma by Browner et al., and Hoppenfeld's Surgical Exposures...), the handbook comes close to providing the necessary information for appropriate evaluation and treatment of the patient with an orthopaedic injury. The second edition is a significant improvement over the first and would highly recommend this even for non-surgical physicians in private practice.

This is a good book for everyday use. The format is brief yet helpful. It is a good book for residents,physician assistants and students in the early stages. I use it also to refresh my memory when I encounter something I have not seen in awhile.

Excellent text! I reviewed a friends copy and had to have one for myself. The text is well organized into the various musculoskeletal regions with thorough explinations of common and not so common injuries, including the recommended treatment. From a Student Perspective
I am taking my Adult Physical Dysfunction class right now and almost every diagnosis in the book is one that we are studying. The case studies throughout the book are very helpful and BEST of all, the book gives an Occupational Performance Profile to let me (as a beginning OT) know which performance areas and components are being affected for each specific patient. It is a wonderful book.
