5-0 out of 5 stars Notes from a couple who were just at HealthQuarters
I have not (yet) read this book, but I've been reading the reviews because of two email messages I received from friends. Here's an excpert from the first one:We are so excited to tell you that L's PSA test done last week is at 2.9 down from 4 which is well within the normal range. His cholesterol is down from 221 to 172 which is also in the normal range. All other blood tests and the physical exam shows him very healthy. He is at his optimum weight down 35 lb. from this summer, he has been off his blood pressure medicine he started in June since October and it is in the normal range and he has almost completely quit snoring. The first good sleep S has had in 7 or 8 years! We are attributing these great results to the Lord's leading us to a book called "A Cancer Battle Plan," by Dave and Anne Fraum which then took us to Colorado Springs, Colorado, to go through the HealthQuarters Ministries program which Dave and Anne started to help people learn to regain their health the way God intended. We learned that if given the right conditions our body has an amazing ability to heal itself from many ailments which has been evident in Lyle and hundreds of other people. "Prostate Health in 90 days without drugs or surgery," by Larry Clapp, is another source that uses basically the same plan with a couple tweaks. "Healing Prayer" is a book that J gave us last Christmas that didn't get read until I found it behind the couch in the motorhome one day in early Oct. after L's diagnosis and boy does it apply to where we are. How did he know that we would use that book just when we needed it? God is in control of even the gifts we give at Christmas if we let Him be.Then my friends sent a follow-up note that said:I'm sorry to hear of [your] ailments. I know you have probably had a zillion suggestions but with the results we have seen with L and myself and many others with varying ailments I would encourage you to pick up Dave Frauhm's book "A Cancer Battle Plan" and consider following his program. It's [also] good for... dealing with the stress. This book deals not only with cancer but with many health situations. We believe you could possibly find some real relief. I hope these comments help. I think I'll be picking up a copy of this book soon.

5-0 out of 5 stars I love this book. I should, I wrote it!
My wife has indeed gone to be with Jesus. Iron poisoning had shut down her liver after 10 years cancer-free. She'd gotten 150 blood transfusions during the failed bone marrow transplant written about in this book. You get everyone's iron. We knew it was going to be a problem. I gave more of the details of what took her in A Cancer Battle Plan Sourcebook. I noted a review that gave Battle Plan just one star. Its author somehow had it in her mind that we traveled and lectured around the country. Not so. The non-profit Christian ministry we began runs a Lodge overlooking Colorado Springs where people come from around the world for 11-day sessions to learn the principles of detoxing their bodies. I'm the teacher...a Naturopathic Doctor and Certified Nutrtional Consultant. For more info read A Cancer Battle Plan Sourcebook, or give HealthQuarters Ministries a call at (719) 593-8694. About our work Dr. Lee Cowden, M.D., co-author of An Alternative Medicine Definitive Guide to Cancer, writes: "HealthQuarters Ministries is doing a tremendously important and needed work. They are restoring hope and health for people with chronic illnesses--especially cancer--who have had their hope stolen. They help to put people back in control of their own health, giving them the tools they need, and encouraging them to keep God at the helm." Dr. James Balch, co-author of Prescription for Nutritional Healing writes: "Christians know that their bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, and that they are accountable to not destroy them...I highly recommend the program offered at HealthQuarters Lodge."

4-0 out of 5 stars Necessary education for cancer patient
I am 44. I had an emergency colectomy, to remove tumor, and have grade-c colon cancer. THis means that there is no visible tumor spread beyond that removed, but > 50% of the removed lymph nodes tested + for cancer cells. Dr.'s prognosis is 50%-60% 5-year survival. Chemo is recomended, but will only improve the survival rate by 3-8%. I do know that there will be a small but significant % in my situation will that will survive 30+ years.

THis book clearly endorses surgery, chemo, and/or radiation to stop advanced cancer. THe question is what next? I have three young children. Should I do nothing and just hope that I fall on the + side of stats? Or do I take aggressive action to try and put my self in the positive side? Choose for yourself. As for me, I will fight with all of my strength to beat this. I am a believer, and my ultimate hope is in God, but he gave me a mind to think, and a strong will to fight and live. TO that end, I ask, can a good detox program followed by a healthy nutritious diet possibly be harmful? I think not. Is the potential harm from follow-up chemo worth only 3-8% increase in 5-year survival? I am still praying and thinking about this one. I may forgo the chemo, but only after many consultations with the oncologist. I don't dismiss the imortance of the medical establishment, neither did Anne.

I find the diet to be a bit too radical, and am reading other books ("Juice FOr Life") that allow some fish and poultry in the meals, along with more reasonable food mixing, and more cooked foods. However, the other books seem to align with the this one regarding cleansing and juice recomendations, and emphasis on raw fruits and veggies. I don't look forward to the juice fast cleansing, but honestly, can it hurt? Might it help? I see this as a no-lose situation for me. OThers may have different situation. But in any case, take control of your desease. Fight. Seek the Lord. Do not surrender hope.

To respond to a new review, the problem with a natural approach to fighting cancer is that it can not be verified using the "scientific method". That is, individual components of the problem/solution can not be verified. THe problem/solution has to be viewed from a macro perspective. The suggestion that the American diet is responsible is valid when one looks at cancer rates of Japanese, before and after they adapt the American diet. However, unless individual food items can be proven to cause cancer, the medical community will not accept the evidence. The theory, however, is that the total American diet of dead poisened food, is responsible for the failure of the body to fight cancer (specifically due to reduced liver function). Seeing cancer as a system failure, rather than a local disease is orthoganal to the medical establishemt, and therefore, a program of detox, + disciplined nutrition + specific supliments, while reasonable, will not even get consideration, regardless of its results.

I am a cancer patient, not an "expert". I am trying to understand my disease, and am not willing to simply hope that my doctors can treat it. I will insist that they provide compelling data for any recomended procedure. I will weigh the risks/benefits carefully. I will also consider reasonable "alternatives".

3-0 out of 5 stars A postscript to my review
Since there are all kinds of postings on this site about this book and their authors, etc. I would like to mention I have called about going to the HealthQuarters retreat and it costs $3,200 for one person(not including transportation to and from Colorado Springs) for an 11 day program, plus they are booked for several months in advance. They can only host 9 or 10 people at a time, and they are not a hospital, only an "educational center". Though this is somewhat cheap when compared to, say, going to other alternative hospitals or going out of the country, for a person like me, home on State Disability, this is more money than I have to spend on a program that my insurance company won't cover, not to mention the daily costs of my supplements and alternative medical care, also not fully covered by insurance, if at all. Dave and Anne's book, though certainly well intentioned and with a great spirit behind it, isn't much more than just a collection of the latest and most popular alternative treatments for cancer, all rolled up in a book like they are something new, when many have been around for years and years. If that, along with Ann's death, doesn't bother you and you still want to invest in tnis book, feel free. It is certainly inspirational and well intentioned reading. And who knows, it might help you, but go into it with your eyes open.

3-0 out of 5 stars This book's author has died of her cancer
When my own cancer was deemed incurable, I reached eagerly for this book and attempted to do many of the things it said. Recently, I bought the sequel to this book, A Cancer Battle Plan Sourcebook, and in it, Ann Frahm's husband, Dave, reveals that Ann died of her cancer. I am estimating this happened between 1998, when the first book came out, and 2000, when the second book came out. In the second book he explains what happened, that they just couldn't clear up all her immunity problems and the cancer came back and took over. When I found out she died, I felt very let down, but on the other hand, Ann lived about 10 years fter she was sent home to die, so I guess it is however you choose to see the glass, half full or empty. I think it is only right, though, to let potential readers of this book know that Ann died. She also lived longer than anyone expected. Make your own decisions about the efficacy of her program and your quality of life if you follow program (with the frequent juicing, supplements, enemas and on and on and on) with that in mind. But if you are anything like me, you keep on doing stuff like this because you don't have anything else to keep trying to do. May God help all of us with cancer, because we surely need it. ... Book Description

Cancer can now be cured, not only the early stages, but also advanced cancer, stages four and five, including imminent death. We are not accustomed to thinking about a cure. We think of remission as the only possiblity. But this book is not about remission. It is about a cure. this is possible because the true cause of cancer has been found. The Cause of the malignancy is explained in the earlier book, The Cure For All Cancers. But removing the malignancy left behind the tumors as they were, prior to the malignant development. So, eliminating tumors became the focus of additional research, and is the subject of this book. The 21 Day Program described in this book does both. Once you win this battle, even advanced cancer can be cured.

The success rate for advanced cancer is about 95%. So you can count on this method, not merely hope it will work for you. It is a total approach that not only shrinks tumors, but also normalizes your blood chemistry, lowers your cancer markers, and returns your health. The small failure rate (5%) is due to clinical emergencies that beset the advanced cancer sufferer. However, if you combine the advice in this book with access to hospital care, even "hopeless" patients can gain the time necessary to become well again. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars A Cure For Ignorance In The Treatment Of Cancer
A groundbreaking book which should currently set standard for treatment of cancer. Recommend evaluating suggestions given in this book with muscle testing and/or dowsing to custom fit program to individual.

An advancement over previously written book - A Cure For All Cancers.

5-0 out of 5 stars Ethics or economy? That is the question.
Give up your oncologist if you want to cure yourself of cancer. Make the choice! Either you undergo a treatment of drugs, radiation and surgery which is worse than the disease itself,(success rates are worse than doing NOTHING) or you undergo a comprehensive treatment that is 95% successful.

In 100 years we have gone from 1 person in 8000 getting cancer to almost 1 in 2! Obviously the cause of this disease is the multiple change factors of our food supply, environment and lifestyle. This book will show you ALL of these! This is a top notch protocol from a brilliant scientist. This treatment is so effective it is catching on like wildfire in Germany, Switzerland, Norway, Rome, Mexico etc. (Pope John Paul II physician Dr.Adolpho Panfilli follows it!) Why the popularity there and not in the western world? Perhaps cancer is a very lucrative buisness like cars or electronics? There is undoubtedly more money to be made off of "many" office appointments, drugs, operations, computer equipment scans(and the equipment itself.) Lets not forget the buisness of university which keeps young budding scholars adding to the "latest technology" in equipment and research to cure this menace. Do you not see how all this is connected?

Simple answer to a simple question, "What are we relying on to find the cure to cancer?" Answer: Our ECONOMY! Unfortunately the words "cure" and "economy" don't fit very well! The word "economy" is a little more synonamous with "suffering."

The choice is yours. Someone has finally flipped the coin. Thank you Dr. Clark!

5-0 out of 5 stars I can practice the methods in this book with confidence.

    1-0 out of 5 stars 1:8000 v. 1:2
In response to the eloquent review written by the esteemed, Corey F.Dyok. Sir, in your review you have proposed that the cancer rate has skyrocketed from 1:8000 to 1:2... brilliant! In a brief review of the history of cancer for the lesser informed. Cancer has been documented in the literature for over 5,000 years. Over the past 10,000 years, life expectancy remained at 30-years until the past 150 years when life expectancy dramatically rose to 70-years. "During the past 150 years, there has been a progressive elimination of infectous diseases as a major cause of death, and because most children now survive to reproductive age a sudden population explosion has ensued"[Cairns, John]. So, plain and simply, diseases of old age occur frequently because we now have an aged society. And the diseases of old age are cardiovascular disease and cancer.

FYI: the Federal Trade Commision is currently in court to try to shut down Dr. Clark's website for making unsubstantiated claims...in their own words: The FTC argues that Dr. Clark's work must be scientifically proven according to their standards, otherwise we may not publish it, and therefore you can't read it.

1-0 out of 5 stars Is this lady for real?
People will believe anything. This book is full of proposperous claims, and scientifically impossible devices. The idea of a 9V battery "zapping" parasited deep in body tissues is most ridiculase. Last time I checked, the skin was quite an insulator. The book has no hard facts to back up all the claims. Where are the many people that are cured from these cancers and even HIV/AIDS. There are none, because the only diaganosis cured were tested by some hocus pocus in the quacks private practice. No medically diagonosed cases have ever been cured by this money grubbing con aritist. The book tries to generate fear about being contaminated by everyday living. The cure, send money for off the wall products and supplements with no quality control packing. If you would by the brooklin bridge, this book is for you. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Cumbersome organization
Although the Devita text is a good resource, it has important drawbacks. In every edition, including the latest one, too much information has been out of date even at the first day of publication. Several other major oncology texts somehow manage to avoid this problem much better. Also, since the text comes out every two years, information in the current edition is already at least 3 years old or older. Beyond this, the index is detailed but it still is hard to find specific information, i.e., the book is clumsily organized. Finally, the CD version has the worst search program that I have ever used. You can enter information with any degree of specificity and the search will retrieve (at best) a list of chapters and major chapter sections in which to look. You then have to read through miles of text to find the information that you wanted. Searchability is one of the main reasons for buying a CD and I consider the Devita CD virtually worthless.

5-0 out of 5 stars Simply THE source.
As a resident, I use this book as a first resource for almost all Oncology reading. By your second year of residency you should be getting a lot of your data from the literature rather than texts, but it is still very useful to have a text summery to start from. Take prostate cancer as an example. You can read the DeVita chapter in a (long) afternoon and have an excellent base to expand from. Furthermore, the hundreds of references for each chapter are essentially a list of every landmark article on that topic. If you are an intern or MS4 and you are going to go Rad-Onc, Internal then Med-Onc, OB-Gyn Onc, or even Surgery or Dermatology then you simply need this book. There is nothing else that comes close. To be honest, if you are building any type of medical library whatsoever, you need this book. By the way, mine came with the CD-Rom version on the inside of the back cover for free! Check with your retailer to see if yours will, too. Best of luck, study hard- CURE CANCER!

5-0 out of 5 stars great for therapeutics class and for pharmacy practice
This is a great book, easy to read and follow. Concise enough where you can read it fast but with enough background information so the drug therapy makes sense. You will get a thorough understanding on what drugs are used and why. Picks up on the key points a pharmacist needs to know in practice and a student or someone who is studying for the boards needs to know for exams. Flowcharts are great, has JNC-VI guidelines which are the standard when it comes to drug therapy and pharmaceutical care. Overall, a great book that will enhance your understanding by leaps and bounds.

an excellent reference for students in their clinical clerkship rotations. It does facilitate life as it is extremely well written with the right details..

5-0 out of 5 stars Thorough, yet concise, coverage of all major disease states
This is the best formatted, most current handbook on pharmacotherapy. I especially appreciate the pathophysiologic approach, drug treatment, and monitoring parameters outlined throughout the book. Chapters are concise, and yet offer thorough coverage of the most commonly encountered disease states. Each chapter is written by one or more expert in the field; chapters can be read very quickly. A great working tool for clinical pharmacists. I definetely recommend it. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Best information
After my dad's recent diagnosis of colorectal cancer, I purchased a ton of books about his cancer & treatments. This one is the best one I've purchased so far. My dad refers to it daily to check his symtoms & even just to get alittle more educated on what he should be expecting. VERY beneficial to have.

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent. A must for all on chemo and/or radiation therapy
I found this book very informative, and it makes the idea of going into this type of therapy less frightening and "unknown". I am purchasing several more for people I know who are receiving chemotherapy too, so they can have access to this same knowledge. Special thanks to those who took the time to make this book available.

5-0 out of 5 stars The best book I've read on this subject.
Written by two nurses who understand the questions patients have before and during chemotherapy or radiation therapy, this book is very easy to read but doesn't skimp on technical details when necessary. The chapters cover basics about the treatment, how to deal with side-effects, getting good nutrition, support, and bone-marrow transplants. I work at a Cancer Center and our patients really like this book because it de-mystifies the process and helps guide them through from beginning to end. There is comfort in knowing what is coming and they feel reassured to know that there are ways to deal with just about everything that may come their way. Since our patients are usually very interested in mind/body techniques during chemotherapy, I especially like the chapters on Mind/Body techniques, relaxation and visualization. The authors seem to know just what patients are looking for and what they need. ... Read more

    Book Description

Conformal radiation therapy represents a new challenge for radiation oncologists. It offers the prospect of either increasing the radiation dose to target tissues while delivering a similar dose to organs at risk, or reducing the dose to organs at risk while maintaining the dose to target tissues. First, lymph node areas at risk are established using the available data from pathological examination of surgical specimens and/or pattern of locoregional relapse. Then, based on a three-dimensional description of the anatomical regions where the areas at risk are located, guidelines for the delineation of the clinical target volumes are proposed. The data presented should enable the reader to make appropriate decisions regarding the selection and delineation of the target volumes when confronted with the most frequent tumor types and sites. The book will contribute to paving the way for more effective radiation oncology in the twenty-first century. ... 4-0 out of 5 stars Very comprehensive - stands out from others on the shelf
I bought this book because a friend of ours has prostate cancer and I wanted to be more informed. There are a lot of titles on the "shelf" in this area - nutrition and cancer, vitamins, supplements, megadoses, minerals, what to eat and what not to eat. Some of them have extraordinary claims for cures. There are a lot of philosophies on diet, which doesn't help a cancer patient when they need sound information rather than opinions and beliefs about food. Perhaps there would be less of this confusion if conventional medical treatment started to use nutrition as a part of mainstream cancer treatment.

I must say that I am really pleased with this book. As I get into it, the content gets better and better - a sign of a well informed and thorough piece of work. Dr Blaylock is very realistic about his purpose and doesn't make extraordinary claims. Instead he systematically reveals & explains the current research about vitamins and supplements, always in the context of cancer. He has a prevailing view that "fresh is best" and qualifies this. It seems to me he also has a hopeful tone, which is sometimes missing from practitioners.

I have always been interested in the findings and ideas of Dr Linus Pauling (eg see ISBN 094015921 and ISBN 0380702894) and also Dr Abram Hoffer (eg see ISBN 1550820788). Pauling has been decried by some (though the results of these two doctors' work speak for themselves). For me, this book represents in part a confirmation of their ideas, although the book is less prescriptive than the above and has a broader perspective on diet.

One of the central themes in this book is the immune system, and how to strengthen it. Blaylock is careful to indicate where certain foods or supplements actually encourage rather than inhibit cancer growth. He is also good at providing ammunition for the patient to be able to face some of the resistance that arises from physicians who are dubious about the role and value of nutrition in treatment.

I gave this book four stars not five, for a couple of reasons. If there had been a summary or tables or suggested outline programme to help the patient construct their own nutrition regime, this would have hit the bell! As it stands, I will dig through the chapters and index to glean a summary of points to put into an action plan. I was also hoping to find a website with some level of currency and discussion about the book - patients asking questions, an updated resource list, general advice, a blog perhaps, or supplemental material. In a word, 'support'. (See http://www.russellblaylockmd.com).

Overall, a very good book: readable, thorough, very comprehensive, practical and a good reference - recommended. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Maternal-Neonatal Nursing (Bood edition)
Excellent books for reference. I used this book to review for the test and I got "A" for this subject. I recommend this book for the new nursing students.

5-0 out of 5 stars GREAT PRODUCT for class prep too
The previous reviewer was disappointed in the product, but they are not using it for its full potential. Springhouse just put out the Maternal Neonatal Incredibly Easy book and that's what the previous reviewer should have purchased if they wanted supplemental info for classroom work (gee, didn't they notice the description said it was a CD-ROM?!). This product is EXCELLENT not only for those students getting ready for HESI and NCLEX, but it IS an asset to those going through their nursing coursework. The product has 1000 questions catagorized within the major units of the subject of maternal and neonatal nursing. Students can access those subtopics pertaining to the material they are going over in class to use as a study aid when preparing for classroom tests. I am using the Phamacology book and CD-ROM to help me survive through Pharm this semester. What an asset! The Incredibly Easy series (books AND test question CD-ROMs) are great helps to get you through nursing school.

1-0 out of 5 stars This is not a book!
If you are a expecting a book with information this is not the product for you. However, if you are expecting a disc with many NCLEX style questions this product could be useful. I was wanting a review type book to augment my maternal-neonatal nursing class. I plan on keeping this product for future NCLEX review but it is not helpful for the typical student. ... Read more

    Book Description

Part inspirational cancer-survival story, part memoir-as-laugh-riot, CANCER SCHMANCER picks up where Fran's last book, Enter Whining, left off. After the publication of that book, Fran's life launched into a downward spiral. She separated from a long and complicated relationship, her TV series started to slip in the ratings, and her beloved dog Chester Drescher's health was in major decline. Then came the mysterious symptoms no doctor could adequately explain. With her trademark humor, Fran tells of her indefatigable search for answers and the cancer diagnosis that she ultimately beat. But not before a gold mine of humorous insights were revealed to her about what really matters most in life. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Fran Drescher: an impatient patient lives to tell the tale
If justice delayed is justice denied, the same can probably be said for health care. Early diagnosis is the key to effective treatment of most diseases. In TV star Fran Drescher's case, an accurate diagnosis came just in time. Cancer Schmancer is Drescher's fascinating, first-person account of her two-year battle with uterine cancer.

If you are expecting a woe-is-me recitation of a celebrity's encounters with an uncaring and evil healthcare system, this is not the book for you. It is, instead, a medical case history told in a frank and wonderfully humorous style. And it is a call to arms to any woman or man who anticipates seeking medical care in the future.

Drescher describes her visits to a series of healthcare professionals in an attempt to deal with recurring gynecological symptoms. Good and competent doctors failed to screen her for uterine cancer because Drescher fell outside the statistical parameters for the disease ? she was too young and too slender to be at risk. Uterine cancer was finally identified after a relatively simple test.

Her encounter with cancer is placed in rich context, interwoven with stories about her close-knit family, her dissolving marriage, career challenges, a new romance, her beloved dog, and the comforts and importance of close friendships. This is important material. It's a reminder that context is important when dealing with disease. Anyone who has ever experienced the modern healthcare system knows that as patients, we are rarely viewed in context. Yet our life stories, our fears, our hunches and our observations are as important to effective diagnosis and care as the medications and surgical intervention we receive. Unless we learn all that we can about our bodies and advocate for ourselves, we may miss out on the genuine benefits that modern health technology has to offer.

In that sense, Cancer Schmancer is as much a book for health care providers as it is for patients and their families. It serves up a gentle but clear warning to medical professionals: pay attention to what your patients say; pay attention to what your patients know.

As writer of non-fiction, Drescher is no Joan Didion. But she is the ideal messenger for this sometimes-discomfiting subject. Over the past decade, she has managed to craft an accessible and self-deprecating image that belies her beauty and comic talent. With this book she has succeeded in producing an entertaining read from a traumatic and life-changing experience. Most important, Drescher has done some important homework for all of us. As future patients, we should all pay attention to what she has to say.

5-0 out of 5 stars WHAT A BOOK!!!
I have been a big fan of the TV series "The Nanny" for many years. I recently picked up a copy of this book, "Cancer Schmancer" from Amazon.com's website -- and read the book in its entirety in 3 evenings. I could not put it down. This book is funny, moving, interesting, and even entertaining (to a point)! Fran Drescher is an excellent actress (not just with words but with facial expressions and body language) and I could just picture hell reciting the book as I was reading it. It never ceases to amaze me how so many healthcare professionals can be so stubbornly and blatantly wrong about diagnoses! You trust your lives with these people -- they should be thorough and meticulous, but many are not. It's hard to believe unless you've experienced it OR you read Fran Drescher's trials and travails as she details her extensive battle with the American healthcare system to find a cause, then a cure, for her medical problem. A great read for any fan of Fran Drescher's, "The Nanny", or anyone who has had or known someone who has had or has cancer.

    1-0 out of 5 stars I can't relate
I read the excerpt from this book and it's all I needed to see. I'm sorry, but this woman just doesn't speak to me. It seems to be one big brag about herself. She talks about her housekeepers, blah, blah, blah and her fancy schmancy house. Then she gets the call from her doctor. She claims this doctor assured her she did not have cancer. If a doctor told me this before he/she ran any tests, I'd leave. That is just downright irresponsible. Then, of course, the doctor had to backtrack after finding out that Fran did, indeed have cancer. She claims the doctor told her she could call if there was any problem--even if she just needed a hug. There were two possibilities here: 1) The doctor was trying to cover her backside by seeming to be sooo compassionate or 2) The doctor really did care about her patient. If the case was #1, Fran should've found a new doctor immediately. If the case was #2, then she should've thanked the doctor. She said she felt no need to thank the doctor (but she did anyway). Hmmmm...is she naive or is she just so caught up in herself she can't bring herself to be grateful? Sorry, but there is just too much narcissism in this book for me. Now, I will go prepare for my surgery without the help of servants. And I will certainly express my gratitude to my doctor for taking care of me.

5-0 out of 5 stars Fantastic Insight, Answers, and Awareness. OUTSTANDING BOOK
Fran Drescher brings fantastic insight into the symptoms, proper treatment and diagnosis of cancer, as well as vital questions that you should ask your doctor if you are facing the challenge to overcome this physical one. A VITAL part of this book is how we MUST read, learn, and know as much as the doctor - so we can ask the most intelligent questions in order to receive the BEST treatment that is necessary for us individually. A LOT of it has to do with attitude, where NOTHING can stop you, and you CAN overcome the challenge before you. Written with truth, sincerity, dignity, and intelligence - exactly as I remember Fran to be when I worked with her on the set of 'The Nanny.' This book is just as fantastic as she is.
'Cancer Schmancer' is a tremendous inspiration, as well as a vital gift and contribution to all who need it.
Barbara Rose, author of 'Individual Power' and 'If God Was Like Man'

2-0 out of 5 stars Sending a wrong message
I just briefly scanned through the book. I have to say I disagree with Fran that patients need to do their own research. It seems she is protecting the Doctors that should have known what diagnostic testing to do.

It seems there is no accountablity in the medical profession when physicans are not knowing what diagnostic test to perform.

I wonder if she pursued more than just a book. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars A Breath of Fresh Air!
I found this book to be a very timely breath of fresh air.

While reading the introduction I experienced a sense of clarity and relief that someone is telling the truth! Thank you!

As I delved more deeply into the book and began to recognize defininte symptoms of hormone imbalance in my body, I decided to take a clearer look at my lifestyle - diet, exercise, and long-held attitudes and beliefs about breast cancer, the medical establishment,
and the impact of the individual and collective physical, emotional, and spiritual environment on health.

In following some of the practical advice found within these pages and implementing some simple changes in diet and nutritional supplementation, as well as using a pure natural progesterone cream, I am experiencing higher quality of life.

This well researched and clearly written book made a powerful and positive impact on me. I highly recommend it for all women who want a consciousness raising experience (!) and encourage them to share it with their primary healthcare providers.

Thank you, Dr. Lee, Virginia, and David Zava, for your good work.

5-0 out of 5 stars The Truth is Finally Told!
Finally a book on breast cancer that explains the REAL causes: (1)environmental exposure to toxic chemicals like pesticides and petroleum products that mimic our own natural hormones, estrogen specifically; (2) nutritional deficiencies from eating junk food that allow these toxic chemicals to inhibit normal detoxification mechanisims that take place in the Liver and Gastrointestinal tract; (3) taking prescription drugs which amount to synthetic derivations of our natural hormones, which inhibit normal cellular communication and can damage our DNA, resulting in formation of hormone-driven tumors; (4) chronic emotional stress which uses up our B-vitamins, essential fatty acids and other essential nutrients needed to maintain our immune and detoxification systems, as mentioned above.
Dr. Lee is a hero and a mentor. I highly recommend that ANYONE interested in the REAL causes of breast, ovarian, uterine and prostate cancers, AND how to prevent them, should read this book, and the two previous books by Dr. Lee, on Menopause and Premenopause, both available on this website!
More and more people are waking up....and beginning to understand the horrible mistake we made by trusting large corporations (drug companies)that place profits before people. Reading books by Dr. Lee will educate us and show us how with a little time reading, we can learn how to take care of ourselves while living in a world that is run by corporations trying their hardest to destroy us!
Read and share this book with those you love!

5-0 out of 5 stars A Must Read For Every Women, Young and Old
Everyone who has had breast cancer or who has a loved one with breast cancer should read this book. In fact, every woman should read this book because it tells the truth about breast cancer, the politics behind the treatment of breast cancer, and tells you how to prevent it. Prevention isn't profitable, so we aren't going to learn about it in the doctors office. This is an in-depth look at a subject that until now hasn't been addressed at the level of hormones and diet. As they point out, the folks who put on "Breast Cancer Awareness" month claim that breast cancer can't be prevented. It can, and you'll understand why and how after you read this book. It's time that women took control of their health by being aware and educated, and this book is a great step in that direction. It's well-written, easy to understand and very thorough on the subject of breast cancer.

1-0 out of 5 stars Reader Beware
As the husband of a 40 year old woman with stage 1 breast cancer, I found this book to be disturbing and irresponsible in its presentation.

I was hoping for clarity and factual analysis as well as recomendations based on a balanced view of where the state of treatment is today relative to breast cancer.

What I found was a misuse of statistics and generalizations that can deeply wound the psyche of any women experiencing the trauma of breast cancer.

An unbiased view with balanced reporting was what I was expecting. I cannot keep this book in my home nor advise anyone to purchase it.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Information That EVERY Woman Should Know
