"Al McOrmond is a Dental Technologist in Ontario and a professor teaching orthodontics and full and partial dentures in the Dental Technology Department of George Brown College in Toronto. He is also the owner of an orthodontic speciality laboratory. McOrmond's knowledge and experience shine through in this well-written and practical technique book. At times, the reader feels as if the author were in the room presenting the material in a conversation. The chapters are amply illustrated and dotted with insightful and thought-provoking quotes. The first few chapters provide valuable definitions and terminology. The next sections discuss materials and instruments, and the book moves on to basic appliances, fabrication techniques, removable and fixed appliance design and construction, and nightguards. These chapters are filled with step-by-step procedures, practical tips, and trouble-shooting aids. The glossary contains excellent line drawings of appliances, along with a list of components with wire sizes. This section is invaluable as a teaching aid and a quick reference. VERY helpful!
This is the book that helped make that giant leap of faith- braces! Without it, I'd probably still be suffering with embarrassment everywhere I go, but after reading this, I had the courage to ask my parents, get them on and I've never been happier. It doesn't say how great they are and that you should get them, the book simply states the facts and tells you how to live with them if you decide to go through with it.. Anyone thinking about braces need to read this. It will help make up your mind one way or the other. ... Read more

Given a company's financial structure, the resulting figures are benchmarked across "leading competitors".In choosing the leading competitors, Icon Group chooses only those firms with sound financial situations or those not undergoing radical restructuring, or where random volatility, mergers, or bankruptcy affects financial performance.
