5-0 out of 5 stars Crystal clear physiology!
I do not think there is a better physiology book out there that can explain what you need to know without going into millions of pages of needless explanations in medical school. We just don't have the time to read texts and this book does an awesome job of explaining physiology in a concise manner. The small physio Costanzo review book is good- this one is even better! Sometimes you need just a bit more of an explanation. I use this book to accompany all of my physio lectures.

5-0 out of 5 stars AWESOME PHYSIO REVIEW BOOK
This book is a life saver for physiology in med school. It is easy to read and is short and sweet. She doesn't go into long unecessary details, but gets right to the point. So very helpful for studying as a supplement to physio lectures in med school. She has a shorter board review book, which is also good, but sometimes you just need a better explanation, and this book offers that and more.

4-0 out of 5 stars Gr8 aid in my summer class!!!
This book is very easy to understand. It is in outline format and is very concise. Does not give you all this xtra information that you may run into with a standard Physiology text book... It summarizes and gives you the most important features of each topic or atleast the most pertinent to you. I like this book and will keep it to add to my own personally science library because who knows when you will need it next time? maybe to cram for an exam? ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Good compilation of material from MIT courses
This unique book represents a compilation of material presented by Prof. Yannas over a couple of courses at MIT. The material is clearly presented and will probably be best used by graduate students and experimentalists in the field. This book is not a list of protocols. It is a review of the field and a summary of the Yannas lab's impressive body of work in the areas of skin and nerve tissue regeneration. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Great little book, must have in your med-surg rotation
Gives pathophysiology, complications, signs and symptoms, diagnostic tests used to identify the problem, treatment, and special age-alerts that explains age related problems from pediatric to elderly. Great diagrams and charts that compare similar or often confused illnesses (such as Hepatitis A, B, C, D, & E; tells incubation time, onset, age group most affected, transmission, severity, prognosis, & progression to chronicity). Nice black and white illustrations plus 16 pages of color illustrations. Chapters are (1) Fundamentals of Pathophysiology, (2) Cancer, (3) Infection, (4) Genetics, (5) Fluids and Electrolytes, (6) Cardiovascular System, (7) Respiratory System, (8) Nervous System, (9) Gastrointestinal System, (10) Musculoskeletal System (11) Hematologic System, (12) Immune System, (13) Endocrine System, (14) Renal System, (15) Sensory System, (16) Integumentary System, (17) Reproductive System plus an appendix of less common disorders and their causes, pathophysiology, and sign and symptoms. Book Description

This book is an extensively revised edition of a highly successful and comprehensive introductory manual for the use of clinical hypnosis in the treatment of medical and psychological problems and disorders. Written with the interests and needs of the doctor or dentist in mind, its practical and clear approach maintains the tradition of high-quality information and usefulness established in previous editions of this book. After exploring the theoretical and historical background to hypnosis as well as key techniques and approaches, the book looks at specific clinical situations and problems in which hypnosis may have an impact, and offers specific practical management guidelines including possible scripts. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars A definitive reference in the field of clinical hypnosis
Hartland's book on hypnosis is a staple in the field. It has gone through many editions, this being the most recent and up-to-date. The information is scholarly, well presented, and clinically very useful. The authors do seem to have an academic bent and a bit of an anti-American bias. They question the importance of Milton Erickson's work and poo poo the NLP literature, while at the same time borrowing many clinical techniques from Erickson and NLP without giving due credit. That minor objection aside, I found this book to be richly clinically relevant and I would recommend it to anyone who uses hypnosis in clincial practice. It is one of the "Bibles" in the hypnotherapeutic literature.

2-0 out of 5 stars Average Book, Very Poor in Places
I consider the fact that this book was recommended to me as an authoritative tome at the start of my training to be one of the greatest hindrances of my career as a therapist. It contains a wide selection of stuff, Hartland thought you could cure 70% of problems with direct suggestions of ego-strength -oh really..! The pointlessly superficial material on Elman and Erickson's approaches is not worth reading. The techniques Hartland recommends are basically bog standard eye fixation and progressive relaxation scripts which you can get for free on the net. His recommendations on specific conditions are also very superficial and unhelpful. There is nothing here to inspire, or to expand our understanding of the mechanisms of induction or therapy.

5-0 out of 5 stars Everything you want to know and more!
Very well written and easy to follow. Much more than I expected on topics that therapists encounter. Great book for those that are interested in hypnosis and want to learn how it is applied. Excellent for those that are already practicing. Many scripts alone and how to use them make this book well worth the price. No steps left out. I have to keep this in the office and often return to it for it's valuable information. For start to finish this is worth it's weight for what you can learn and apply. 5-0 out of 5 stars The Fluid, Electrolyte and Acid-Base Companion
This is an excellent resource for those having difficulty mastering Acid-Base, Fluid and Electrolyte Disorders. This is the most comprehensive, and easy to understand book on this subject matter. Ideal not only for medical students, but for residents as well.
Recommend 2nd Edition, to include Divalent Cations; Ca, Mg, and P. Try to tackle Bartter's, Gitelman's a little more. May also touch on Liddle's Syndrome.

5-0 out of 5 stars The Fluid, Electrolyte and Acid-Base Companion
This book copies the enormously popular style of Dubin's EKG book by placing a large picture at the top of every page and then some text and fill-in sentences (as a review) below it. I like this style and find that I can read and absorb much more information from it. Buy and master this book as a first year student taking renal physiology, as a second year student learning about electrolyte and acid base disorders, or as a house officer dealing with patients on every service in the hospital.

5-0 out of 5 stars At last ! Electrolytes and acid-base made easy ! ! !
This book has finally settled all my doubts concerning the fluid balance, electrolyte disorders and acid base equilibrium. The book explains a complicated and commonly misunderstood subject of the medical field in a simple cohesive manner, going from the most basic-college stuff and leading you through the clinical presentation, diagnosis and treatment. Each page contains a title, a picture, a small simple paragraph and 2-4 questions at the end to make sure the reader is following along. It's a great book which I strongly recommend for third - four year medical students, as well as interns or first year residents who do not understand quit well this subject, and wish to settle this once and for all. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Complicated subject made easy
I have read many A&P books. But by far this book is the most concise, and readable book on the subject.I gave my copy to a pre-med student, giving it out of love and sacrafice, because at the time the book had sold out before I could reorder it.I just reordered the new edition and very much look forward to having it again. And it will never leave my library again. This book is a must have to those in the medical field. Sincerely William Carney LPN

5-0 out of 5 stars The best illustrated physiology book ever!
This book is written in a simple language & is excellent for review. The info are presented in an outline format for quick reading. However, I think it would be better if you can read it in conjunction with some other textbooks like Guyton's Textbook of Medical Physiology, because some details are required to complete the picture. Like all the books of this series, you'll find the diagrams which summarize the salient points of each topic valuable aids to learning or revision.

5-0 out of 5 stars first-rate book
The 6th edition of this book continues its excellent tradition. It is clear, concise and readable. What makes this book (and others from the series such as Pathology Illustrated) so excellent is that they can actually be read cover to cover in a short period of time. The value of this book to the student or teacher of physiology cannot be overstated.

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent as a visual for students and as patient education
