A must for all medical providers
Easy to use and carry with all of the pertinent information needed to Rx antibiotics. Well researched and up to date.

Quick, easy and you can actually read the print.
A fellow medical student showed me this pocket book and I am glad I bought it. It is very easy to use and the print is readable. The best part of this book is the list of dosing for Peds. I don't have to look up the amount based on the kg of the child; its right there. Highly recommend for those of us who work or do clinical rotations in the out-patient setting.

WOW! From Head to Toe, the way to go!!!
This is an amazingly useful and easy to use book! Unlike most other antibiotic guides this one gives you all the information you need when a patient with an infection is in front of you in the office. Not only the drug of choice, but useful alternative therapies, dosages (adults and children), common adverse effects and other helpful prescribing information. And it's so easy to find the infection you're looking for- since the book is arranged from anatomical top (HEENT)in the front to bottom (GU) in the back. There's a separate section for antimicrobials in addition to the one for the disease syndromes. The book fits perfectly into a lab coat (or shirt) pocket and is up to date and highly accurate. Great reference for homecare nurses and their pts
Wonder what that new med your pt is taking is for? He probably is as well! This reference will answer all those questions PLUS the disc let me print out teaching guides for my pt to keep as reference...and in large print that he can read,,not that teeny tiny type on the drug info sheet from the pharmacy. Drug interactions and special considerations are very relevant in teaching pts about their medications.

my favorite drug book
I've reviewed many drug books and this is the best. I order a new edition every two years and have never been disappointed. It is definitely the best organized drug book and provides nurses with the information they need to know to properly treat a patient.

Great reference for Non-Medical Practioners
Having family members with health issues as well as myself, I have found this book to be invaluable. It is easy to comprehend and search through. If you are taking a specific class of medications, they are all grouped together in the same class, and you can look at which medications in that particular class may have less side effects than others. I never go to my doctor's office without this book in my bag. Sometimes doctors can't keep up with all the data, and he appreciates me being on my toes.

This book is a MUST for anyone who has one or more medical issues.

Concise information, clearly presented and up to date.
As a Registered Nurse, I have found this book invaluable over many years. Many similar handbooks follow an A-Z format.However, Nsg Drug hand book is listed by categories, this means that you can compare various aspects of side effects, peaks and troughs etc easily, and ALL of the new drugs for a given disease or condition are together for easy reference. As it's name suggests, this Drug book is up-dated each year.

Great Drug reference book (esp. for student nurses)
I work at a local hopital as a registered nurse, and as you know there are a lot of new drugs out there everyday. I have used many different drug books over the years, but this is the first time I have used Saunders. We just got one at the hospital, where I work, after it was released and I love it. It combines all the good parts of all the other drugbooks I have used, in my career, and placed them in a well thought out and easy to read book. I especially like the pull out compatibility chart in the front. The book also contains drug interactions, including some herbal interaction (and believe me, more and more people are turning to herbs than ever before) onset, duration, half lifes, and even patient teaching and more. I have not got to look through the whole book yet, but I am definatly going to get one to put on my reference shelf at home. ... Read more

I always get the latest edition of this book!
When I was ordering this edition of Gahart's IV reference book, I noticed that it was the 18th edition. I have or have had most all the editions published! I guess I've been a nurse a long time..... I have worked in the Intensive Care and Emergency Department settings and have always found this book an excellent resource! Great for graduate/new nurses!

Nurses and physcians be more aware.
As an ER RN, in my opinion this is the quintessential referance for anyone who requires fast, comprehensive information about IV meds. This yearly updated book is laid out alphabetically by generic drug name with multiple indexed cross referencing by classification and brand names. The staff in the ER consider it an indispensible tool on all relevent aspects of IV meds and their appropriate application. Awareness = improved patient care and safety.

Very helpful reference for nurses who administer medication as well as others who need a quick reference to understanding medications. Much smaller and handier to use than a PDR. Great resource for Home Health nurses to keep in the car. Has the action, uses, dosage/routes, side effects, contraindications, precautions, pharmacokinetics and nursing considerations in a clear and consise format. Medications are listed alphabetically but also have the generic name, pronunciation, functional class and chemical class listed beneath. Colored pictures are found in the center of the book as a visual reference to some of the pills. These are just some of the features, but there are many more.
