1-0 out of 5 stars A joke!
This book is complete tripe, religous nuts gettng involved with science again and coming up with a laughable explanation to the demise of dinosaurs,do yourself a favour and go to the library and get your kids some factual infomation to read.

5-0 out of 5 stars Truth about Dinosaurs for Kids
I look forward to more science books based on the Creation Theory as evidence continues to pile up against the Theory of Evolution. This is a terrific, entertaining book for kids who are interested in dinosaurs, and for their parents!

1-0 out of 5 stars Highly biased
Sorry, but as a paleontologist, I really hate to see religious philosophy thinly veiled as "science."

1-0 out of 5 stars Not for Children
I think its a shame that this book is being touted as a book for children. Especially given the supposed Christian theme. Telling a child that if they, or anyone sins God's punishment is death is really counter productive to what Christianity is all about. I would not recommend this book to anyone.

5-0 out of 5 stars A MUST FOR ANY CHRISTIAN PARENT!
It's about time! As the mother of a four-year-old, I've been searching the bookstore shelves for some time now, hoping to find anything that contained the biblical truth about the orgin and existence of dinosaurs before the flood. This book has given that to me and more, in a clear and concise way; but yet is still appealing and entertaining for my young son. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Extinctions and evolution
This book is very interesting when it comes to tell your children about God, creation and fall. The Dinosaurs just became extinct, just like many other species, but that has nothing to do with particles to people evolution. My little daughter just loved it. I hope she will become a zealous creationist. Many people think that evolutionism is perfectly compatible with Bible teachings. The fact is that there are very good theological and scientific reasons that prove, beyond reasonable doubt, that evolution never happened and the whole concept in itself is incompatible with Bible teachings on topics such as creation, fall, curse, flood, Babel, dispersion, the emergence of civilitations, the alliance with Israel, the promise of a saviour, the life, death and ressurrection of Jesus Christ, redemption and restoration.

5-0 out of 5 stars Dinosaurs Of Eden
An excellent comprehensive look at the Dinosaurs in the Garden of Eden. If reading alone, I recommend age 8 and up. But, if you intend to read it to your child, you can start as early as age 3 and simplify the information to customize to your childs age. An absolute MUST HAVE for a christian parent of a child who loves dinosaurs! ... Read more

Field Mouse leads a quiet, contented life in his burrow under an old bone. But one day he starts hearing strange scritching noises outside. Peering out, he sees people with shovels and picks digging gently in a nearby bluff. What's going on? Field Mouse scurries out to explore. Later, when he returns to his cozy home, he finds that his bone is gone! This intrepid little fellow sets out on a mission to reclaim his roof. His search leads him to a strange place called The Field Museum of Chicago, where, lonely and frightened, he scampers around, evading vacuum cleaners and scientists, and always seeking his beloved bone. Finally, one day, Field Mouse comes across the biggest Tyrannosaurus rex in the world, 67 million years old--and his bone! The determined homebody settles right in to his new quarters--right under the T-rex's toes!

A clever idea with a somewhat dull presentation, this story will certainly inspire flights of fancy and interest in the ever fascinating great dinosaurs. Based on the true story of the largest, most complete T-rex ever found, this version is given a fanciful treatment and original point of view by award-winning author Jan Wahl. Bob Doucet's illustrations utilize compelling perspectives, but are somewhat lackluster. Wahl has written more than 100 books for children, including The Singing Geese. 5-0 out of 5 stars The Field Mouse and the Dinosaur Named Sue is 'Dino'mite!
While this is a fictional account of Sue, the story gives children a broad look at what's involved in putting together a dinosaur for a museum display. 1-0 out of 5 stars A good laugh!
This is one of the most hilarious books I have read in a long time. I cannot fathom teaching this to a child. Even more so I cannot believe an adult would want a child of theirs to be taught such outrageous nonsense. The only thing this book is good for is a good laugh.

5-0 out of 5 stars a real attention getter for kids with questions
The Bible and Dinosaurs is an excellent tool to help kids broaden their thoughts about science and the origin of the earth. It encourages them to challenge what is taught as the proven truth, and to search the Bible forreal evidence and truth.

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent - what the Bible says about Dinos (dragons)
This book is an excellent book for children ages 7 or 8-12 and gives us the Biblical perspective on what the Bible says about dinosaurs and the age of the earth - much younger than what they will hear in most schools. There are also pictures and full color and black and white drawings for thechildren to look at while you are reading to them. The book explains thatmost of the fossils of the world occurred in the world-wide flood of Noah'stime, and that Noah took dinosaurs on the ark (baby or juvenile ones of thelarge types). The book shows scientific evidence that man and dinosaurlived together at the same time: footprints found together in the samelayer, cave drawings by Indians of dinosaurs, eyewitness accounts offishermen and sailors who have seen dinosaur-like swimming creatures in theocean in this century, including an occurence in World War I.Ourattention is also pointed to the fascinating Biblical descriptions ofbehemoth and leviathan. It also gives accounts of the natives in the Congoof Africa who have seen an animal they call the "mokele mbembe." When these natives are shown pictures of a brontosaurus-like (diplodocus)creature, they become excited and say, "mokele-mbembe!"They donot do this for pictures or drawings of other animals, like the elephant orthe hippo. A good way to get kids started - "There was no death untilAdam sinned."

5-0 out of 5 stars An Excellent book
I find it to be extremely fascinating. The ideas that are raised in this book are logical and supported.A Child can understand it but even a Biology professorcould gain from reading it.I would highly recommend it to anyone with acurious child, or a curios mind of their own.

3-0 out of 5 stars worthless debate?
I have not read this book, and i don't intend to, but i have seen a webpage that is like it.does anyone seriously think one side will listen to the other enough to write a whole book on it?my god.anyway, i give it a 5 because that's in the middle.I also seriously doubt that it's a "children's book&quot ... Snort,
a mean red dinosaur,
Always gets his way.
He told me not to tell you more.
That's all I have to say.

Snort, Dozy, Hey-Ho-Howdy, Sob, Zoomer, Tremble, and Smooch are the"seven nifty dinosaurs in one swell book" by the ever-popular Sandra Boynton. Each dino is given a two-page introduction, with rhyming verse and playfulillustrations. Dozy, "a lazy green, / with floppy scales of tangerine," spendsher time lying around sipping lemonade. She'd rather eat her birthday cakecandles than expend energy blowing them out. Zoomer, on the other hand, is a"jazzy orange dinosaur" who speeds wherever she goes. Then there's Sob, a "sadblue dinosaur," who mopes and sprawls and sighs... until no one's around--"thenhe gets up and dances"! These fabulous and funny characters, in Boynton'strademark bright blocks of color, make learning about emotions, expressions, andpersonality types fun for the very small reader. Color-coded picture tabs alloweven nonreaders to find their favorite dinosaur at a glance. For another Boyntonboard book in this format, try Snoozers: 7 Short Short Bedtime Storiesfor Lively Little Kids. (Baby to preschool) --Emilie Coulter ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Another Boynton Winner
Both my 4-year-old and 17-month-old enjoy this great little book. My 4-year-old wants to hear it cover-to-cover. My 17-month-old picks and chooses the stories he likes from the tabs, then runs around saying "Hey-Ho" (for "Hey Ho Howdy," one of the characters). It's also fun for grown-ups, and it would be a great choice for even a 5 or 6-year-old who loves dinosaurs, since there's more text than in most board books.

5-0 out of 5 stars Another Boynton Winner
This is another great book by Boynton.
My son loves this book and so does my daughter.

The drawings are cute and stay on topic. The pictures add to the text rather than being a distraction to the text.

The repetitive nature of the book is great it makes for a good prereading book. I also like the fun words that are not only fun to say but fun to hear.

A real winner.

5-0 out of 5 stars Perfect for dinosaur lovers!
I loved this book, as does my almost 3 year old son! He's way into dinosaurs these days, and this book is cute, and funny! He has memorized the names of them and after only a few times can also read along with me. I love Sandra Boyton and I love reading this book several times, over and over.."read again, Mommy!"

5-0 out of 5 stars A Winner, As Always
My two year old son really likes dinosaurs and this book does a great job in fullfilling his wants. As always the poems are fun for both children and adults. This book contains several different poems and my son enjoys picking out which one he would like to read.

4-0 out of 5 stars Oh Boy! It's Sandra Boynton!
I knew "Dinos to Go" would be a hit, (as all her other books are), when my 3-year-old daughter opened the box and exclaimed, "Oh Boy! It's Sandra Boynton!" I had to read it to her immediately and neither one of us were disappointed. In her usual whimsical and rhythmic fashion we were both entertained by seven dinosaurs, each with a different personality, (happy, sad, mean, timid, ect.). This is a great book to help children learn that people have different personalities just like the dinos in the book. I have been reading Sandra Boynton books to my daughter since she was born and will always read each new title, (again and again), as it is available. This is a fun book and is great for any age from newborns to grandmas and grandpas! ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Who Dung It? Getting the Real Scoop
My wife had a hard job convincing the courier man that he had just delivered dino dung to Dannemora - Dannemora being the name of our district. But deliver he did!

The publishers of Random House Children's books have just sent me an advance copy of Dino Dung - the Scoop on Fossil Feces.

This is a new book by Dr Karen Chin and Thom Holmes with illustrations by Karen Carr and another in the Step into Reading series recommended for Grades 2-4.

From the case of the Weird White Blobs to the Telltale Tyrannosaur, this book is a real Who `Dung' It?

Dr Chin is a world renowned authority on the fecal remains of dinosaurs and her partnership with the highly regarded author of children's books, Thom Holmes, has produced a fascinating insight into the science of coprolites.

There are a lot of interesting facts and observations packed into the forty eight pages of this Junior Reader: the role of bacteria in converting dino dung into these trace fossils, how to spot a true coprolite and learning that the size of the pile doesn't necessarily equate to the size of the depositor.

As with other books in this series, the pictures in this gem are clear and concise, even when illustrating difficult subjects such as the cut-away sections of ground or sections observed under a microscope.

Readers will also enjoyed the subtle humour in the headers such as "The Scat with Nine Lives"

The publishers are on to another winner with this book and we will be recommending it to children everywhere - and no doubt a few adults!

5-0 out of 5 stars WOW! Best pop-up book I have ever seen, hands down.
This book puts all other pop-up books to shame. The colors are magnificent and the pop-ups are detailed and exciting. My 2-year-old is on his 2nd one because he loved this book when he was 15 months old and got a little too excited and ripped off some heads and tails. The story is cute and we love to make up our own stories. Buy this book - new or used, you will never regret it.

5-0 out of 5 stars Well designed (and clever) pop-up book
When I was little, pop-up books were simple, and had only one moving element per page. They were exciting, of course, but still, it seemed like more could be going on.

Fast-forward to 2002. My son got his first pop-up book, Dinosaur Stomp!, and wow, these books have undergone some changes from my childhood. The dinosaurs in this book literally leap out at you from the page. And you no longer have to do anything -- you just open each page and the pop-up action happens automatically.

When we first received this book, we were worried that it might make our son nervous. After all, he was only 17 months old at the time. What would he think of large 3-dimensional creatures baring their teeth at him from a book?

Well, we shouldn't have worried. Our son laughs as we read him the rhymes on each page, and he has already picked out a couple of dinosaurs that he enjoys seeing the most. He grabs my arm for one of the pictures (a big fat dino with really large teeth), but even then, he doesn't seem upset. Just excited.

The artwork is beautiful. Each of the dinosaurs is rendering in beautiful bright greens, yellows, purples, etc, making every page an eye-catching work of art. And the creation of each pop-up must be a talent unto itself. The creatures look like they shouldn't fit in the book, yet when you close it, they snap right back in.

Unfortunately, the book has the same problem that I remember when I was younger -- once you damage a pop-up, it's hard to get it to work correctly again. There is one page in our book that only has dinosaur bodies on it. All the heads have been ripped out. We've fixed this page numerous times, but each time, our son finds a way to rip it up again. I don't know of a really good way to avoid this, so if you have a child who likes to tear things up, take this into consideration.

So, do I recommend this book? Definitely! It's visually appealing, has great pop-up action, clever rhymes, and our son seems to love it! What more can you ask for?

5-0 out of 5 stars My 2 year old loves this book, and I enjoy it too
Daughter got it for her 2nd birthday as a gift, and she could hardly put it down. The pop-up images are very cute, and she loves listing the colors and talking about what each dinosaur is doing. The verse is short but fun to read. This is definitely one or our most favorite books.

4-0 out of 5 stars Review of Dinosaur Stomp
The pop-ups in this book are awesome! Quite detailed and intricately designed. My son (18 months) just loves this book. The story to go with it however, could use a little work. It's very brief!

4-0 out of 5 stars Fun, easy reading

5-0 out of 5 stars Outstanding family favorite!
This is the favorite book in my 4 year-old's library. It's a perfect combination for a child who is into dinosaurs and monsters, loves poetry, has a great sense of humor, and likes telling us which words rhyme. His step-dad, a 40-something jazz/blues/rock fan, enjoys the rhythm and the chance to "get down" with the silly rhymes. I like the hilarious illustrations, and especially appreciate the fact that doing the dinosaur stomp, shouting "boom-a-laka..." down the hallway, is an easy way to get my reluctant child into the bathroom to brush his teeth before bed

5-0 out of 5 stars Wonderful book for young dinosaur lovers!
Rhyme and rhythm tell the story and beautiful illustrations compliment the text! This book is a favorite of my three-year-old son, and also was his favorite birthday present. We read it through at least 3 times each night before bed! Janice Hart

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Rhythm and Rhyme
I love reading this book to my almost three son, and he loves hearing it. We checked it out at the library, but this is one I am going to have to add to our bookshelf!

5-0 out of 5 stars Rocking
My almost-4-year-old loved this so much we used it as the theme for his 4th birthday.

5-0 out of 5 stars FUN
This book is a blast to read aloud to a child. My four year old daughter loves this book, and is now reading it aloud to me. The story is based on a group of dinosaurs going to a party. And what a party it is. They dance and create an earthquake. The illustrations are as good as the story,an uptempo good-time book. If you know a child fond of dinosaurs, this should be the first dino-story you buy. Trust me, I've read and heard this story over one hundred times, and each time is as much fun as the first. ... These twelve colorful little dinosaur tattoos are shown in graceful, very active poses, running, leaping, attacking, stalking. While all of them are great to look at, the best is the snarling utahraptor, which practically leaps out of the picture. Also neat is the albertosaurus, in what has to be a very lifelike stance. 5-0 out of 5 stars A fun book for young children who love dinosaurs
My son, now 12, used to love this book when he was 3 and 4 years old. It was also a lot of fun to read for me!

4-0 out of 5 stars Prelutsky is wonderful for kids and adults.
Several years after reading this book, I can still recall by heart many of Prelutsky's clever rhymes and catchy rhythms. The amazing thing is:so can my kids! The favorite dinosaurs such as T-Rex are given their poeticdue, but so are lesser known dinosaurs such as leptoterigius andquetzelcoatlus. (sp?)Although I love all of Prelutsky's whimsical poetry,I felt this book was better suited for young listeners than such works as"It's Snowing! It's Snowing".(Perhaps because the subjectmatter is more familiar to the pre-school set)Some parents may not likethe occasional graphic imagery, but lets face it: carniverous dinosaurswere not dainty eaters! The poetry is too lyrical to be truly gruesome, and besides, all kids like to be grossed out a little bit.If your childis at all into dinosaurs, this may be a good addition to your home library.

1-0 out of 5 stars Tyrannosaurus Was a Beast
"...Allosaurus liked to hunt, and when it caught its quarry,it tore it open, back and front, and never said," I'm sorry!" Allosaurus liked to eat,and using teeth and talons,it stuffed itself with tons of meat, andguzzled blood by gallons." If you think your child does not see enoughviolence on TV then you should buy this book!

5-0 out of 5 stars Very good way of teaching youngsters about dinosaurs.
I read this book for the simple reason of having an interest in dinosaurs.I had never seen dinosaur poetry before and was quite amazed at how theauthor wrote at a child's level to know more about dinosaurs. I think thatif a child has interest in dinosaurs, this book is a fun way to go aboutlearning. It not only teaches them about dinosaurs and the way they lived, what they ate, etc., but also about poetry at the same time. This was adinoriffic book! I recommend it to everyone with an interest in dinosaurs.:) ... Read more

Book Description

A complete look at the world of dinosaurs.

Don Lessem, renowned dinosaur expert, award-winning children's author, and advisor to the creators of Jurassic Park, offers a lively and informative, guide to dinosaurs.

Dinosaurs ruled the world for 150 million years. During that time, the world changed from a single warm supercontinent into the familiar continents that resemble modern Earth. The dinosaurs themselves also changed to adapt to these dramatic changes. This book is organized by the vast periods dominated by the dinosaurs: the Triassic, Jurassic, and Cretaceous. Fifty-four dinosaurs are featured against the backdrop of where they lived to give a better understanding of their distribution and evolution. Information tables for 25 dinosaurs provide details such as translation of name, group, size, diet, and a concise profile.

Brief overviews of the world before and after dinosaurs are included as well. The Dinosaur Atlas also discussed various theories for their mass extinction and why their descendents may still live in the form of birds. Featuring color maps, dramatic illustrations, and humorous sidebars, this book takes a unique, geographical approach to a timeless subject. ... Read more

Book Description

Photographically realistic color paintings capture 120 genera of dinosaurs-plus other prehistoric animals-organized according to evolutionary relationships. If these grand creatures still walked the earth today, this would be the field guide you'd take on your "dino safari" to identify them! Each one appears in its habitat, a fact file that gives you information at a glance: each creature's length and weight; a physical description; its diet; and more. To get a good sense of its comparative size, a small sketch of the dinosaur appears next to that of another animal-like a human or elephant. Look on the world map to see where the Theocodontosaurus, Plateosaurus, Chasmosaurus, or others dwelt, and on the timeline to learn when. Plus: an introduction provides general background on dinosaur classification and traits.

5-0 out of 5 stars A handy field guide for identifying dinosaurs in the wild
The conceit behind the "Guide to Wild Dinosaurs" is that it provides information on the many types of dinosaurs that roamed the earth during different prehistoric periods in the format of the field guide you would use to identify birds or other wildlife out in the real world. This means you get all the vital details such as the length and weight (including a sense of scale in comparison to a human being or elephant), classification, and a description of each creature, along with a time-wheel, a map, and a color portrait of the dinosaur "in the wild" as it were.

The only significant difference is that because we are dealing with dinosaurs on the basis of the extant fossil record, instead of having large colored regions of the globe indicating where a particular creature can be found, there are little dots. If you are dealing with the likes of the stegosaurus or the apatosaurus, then you are dealing with a multi-state area, but otherwise the pickings are pretty slim. If you live out in the Colorado, Wyoming, area of the country then you can play along with the conceit a lot more easily; I still have not found a dinosaur that I could expect to encounter in Northern Minnesota. Still, all things considered that is a minor complaint given how much fun this field guide is overall.

What I appreciate about the "Guide to Wild Dinosaurs," is that author Adam Yates and illustrator Jon Hughes have found a creative way of providing a lot of information about dinosaurs. This is not just another dinosaur picture book. You will really get a sense of the way certain dinosaurs are related within their genus. The 120 genera of dinosaurs (and a few other prehistoric animals that are not reptiles) are grouped into three sections, each covering animals from a different period of the Mesozoic Era. Within each of these periods the animals are organized according to their evolutionary relationships. Consequently, even young readers should get a better idea of the "clades" each animal belongs to, from the largest (e.g., Saurischia or Ornithichia) to the smallest (e.g., family). ... Read more
