5-0 out of 5 stars Perfect Triceratops Beginner
This is a great book for any small child interested in Triceratops. It covers: where triceratops lived (including illustrated map), relatives of triceratops, tricertops biology, diet, predators, and how they came to their ultimate demise. The book also includes a hands on activity and a short glossary.Pictures are really good and clear. The writing is very fact based, but easy enough for even our four year old to understand (in fact, he now knows more about triceratops than most adults probably know).I highly recommend this book for the dinosaur lover in your family. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars 4 great books in for one great price!
My son is the biggest Barney fan there is. These books have quickly become the favorite of his collection. The pictures are so lively and vibrant, and the words are so fun to read to him. He loves the neat little "suitcase" that they come in too!

4-0 out of 5 stars My Daughter loves these books...
We got our 2 year old daughter this boxed set for Christmas and she absolutely loves them! Her favorite is Barney Plays Nose to Toes which is fun for her to act out. The pictures in all of the books are colorful and inticing for young readers, even my 4 year olds have enjoyed this set. The board books are very durable and withstand a lot of wear and tear. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars A really sweet story with funny characters...
When Mitchell announces that he is moving "two weeks away" from the home he's lived in for sixty years, his best buddy (and next door neighbor) Margo doesn't sit quietly by and let him slip away. The tale that ensues speaks volumes about the love of friendship and surprising solutions. If you find yourself reading the same stories over and over, you'll want to make sure this one is among the possibilities.

5-0 out of 5 stars Outstanding and Unique
Mitchell is moving is one of the best books I have ever read. Mitchell has lived next door to his friend for so long so he finally decides to move away, "three days away" to be exact. Margo, his friend, is not to happy about it so she tries to keep him from going. I recomend this book to all ages!

5-0 out of 5 stars One of the cutest stories I've ever read
Mitchell the dinosaur is tired of living in the same old place and decides to move "three days away". His best friend Margo isn't happy about that at all. She thinks of some very ingenious ways to try and keep Mitchell as her neighbor. The story stays cute and readable--no matter how many times I've read it over the years. ... Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars Charmingly Illustrated Book, But Possibly Counter-Productive
There really isn't too much to find fault with in this cute little book. The illustrations are quite charming and it's focus on the fantastic notion of modern-day animals as dinosaur "cousins" is really quite sweet, if a bit naive. I thought that some of the dinosaur/modern animal associations were a bit far-fetched (baby chicks and protosauruses?), but if there's any real fault to be found, it's in the concept of the pairings themselves.

Because of its numerous scientific facts about dinosaurs, I was afraid that younger children might take the fantasy-based idea that contemporary creatures might be their "cousins" for as much of a fact as the rest of the text. I think, however, that that's a very minor point.

All-in-all, it's a very sweet book that indulges fantasies while encouraging children to see similarities in diparate objects. It even manages to include a lot of scientific facts about dinosaurs. It's most certainly a fun book for many different ages.

5-0 out of 5 stars great book
My 4 year old son loves this book. I've found very few books
about dinosaurs that are on his level. This one is perfect. It
has concrete information about different dinosaurs and compares
them to familiar animals, and there are no gory pictures. I'd
highly recommend it for this age level.

5-0 out of 5 stars The size of Dinosaurs
My son is almost 3 and a dinosaur lover but he didn't understand why he couldn't see them in the zoo. I explained they lived long ago and this book helped him relate to the size and shape of dinosaurs by comparing them to animals he has seen. It really works!

5-0 out of 5 stars Awesome
I am a teacher, and use this book in the classroom. I feel it does a good job of explaining things in a kid way. It promotes creative problem solving, and imagination. It is in terms the students can relate to. My students loved this book and so do I. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Fun for lots of ages!
I have two sons who are 2 and 7-1/2 -- it's hard to find a book both of them like at the same time. They both love Dinosaur Bones! The younger one loves the pictures and simple rhymes, and the older one loves reading them to him. But there is also the smaller print on each page containing more advanced information, which is fun to read to my older son when we are one-on-one. We've checked this book out of the library a half-dozen times, and keep renewing it until they won't let us anymore. So I'm finally going to buy it!!! ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars My 3 year old loves this book
This is a fun to read book with lovely pictures that capture the story. My son has it memorized. As an adult, I like the interplay between the child and her parents (she's imagining dinosaurs everywhere, and they keep telling her what real-life things she's seeing or hearing).

5-0 out of 5 stars Very Imaginative book for ages 4-10 !
I really loved this book. I have a 7 and a 4 year old who also very much enjoyed the book. Its easy to tell that the Kirkus reviewer lacked the imagination of a child, and reviewed it from a complete adult perspective.

5-0 out of 5 stars A CLASSIC: Beautifully illustrated, collectable book !!
This is a gorgeously illustrated book and a great story. It's the kind of book you want to give to all the kids you know, and have lying on your coffee table. The text and the art work really well together to tell a clever story about how imagination can enrich our life. You'll love it. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Great Introduction to Dinosaurs
This atlas serves as a lovely introduction to the world of dinosaurs. At just 64 pages, it is very readable with text that is easily understood & yet not patronizing to the beginner. The book tries to becomprehensive in its coverage by first telling us about the formation ofthe continents & how this explains where dinosaur fossils are found. The dinosaurs found on each of the continents are then covered, and this isinterspersed with specific information on the various types of dinosaurs egthe carnosaurs, sauropods, horned dinosaurs etc. All the way, the book isbeautifully illustrated with detailed& colorful renditions of thedinosaurs & their skeletons by Giuliano Fornari, who has a list ofother dinosaur books to his credit. One gripe is that the book doesn'tappear to be up to date. It was originally published in 1991 and althoughthis is listed as the 'First American Revised Edition 1999', recentdicoveries are not mentioned - eg the book lists Ultrasauros as the longestdinosaur, but in 1993, the 130 foot long Argentinosaurus huinculensis wasnamed. Another dinosaur recently described, Sauroposeidon, found inOklahoma might be even bigger. In addition, Tyrannosaurus rex is mentionedas the largest carnosaur, but I believe that the Giganotosaurus caroliniinamed in 1995 might be bigger. Still, these are small gripes that do notdetract from the fact that this is a great book for budding dinosaur loversof all ages ( even my 16 month old son pulls the book down to leaf thro itspages daily). ... 4-0 out of 5 stars Good intro/overview of dinosaurs.
This frothy little book features small, easy to follow descriptions of how dinosaurs may have lived and looked. The artwork is quite good and the primary reason I give it four stars. It can serve as a nice way to introduce the young and beginning reader to our favorite extinct animals. Recommended.

4-0 out of 5 stars good intro to dinosaurs for preschoolers
This is an excellent book if you're looking for something on dinosaurs that is beyond the "picture book" level but your child is not yet ready for 5th grade science material.

I found it a really good book for feeding my 2.5-year-old's fledgling obsession with learning about "real" dinosaurs. The book has basic coverage of the major types of dinosaurs & dinosaur concepts. The illustrations are detailed but not too busy, and there is enough information to satisfy but not so much that it overwhelmed her. We were able to use it to identify just about all of her plastic dinosaurs, which made it an excellent book for introducing the idea of using books for "research". ... Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars Now I will never read anything this bad again
The story is very basic and dumb... A boy visits an island full of dinosaurs that he's scared of, yet mystified about... when a bunch of teenagers land on the islandto film a movie. The boy sgoes to "rescue" them under false pretensis, only to be enraged by there stupidty.
I highly erge you not to read this book. It was a waste of my hour (seeing as it's only shy of 100 pages...)

5-0 out of 5 stars The second thrilling book in the series.
Thirteen-year-old Eric Kirby survived alone for eight weeks in Jurassic Park and became an instant celebrity, writing a book, appearing on TV, even testifying before the United Nations. Now, several months later, he's returning to Isla Sorna, which now hosts a protected, fortified research complex. Eric is disappointed to learn that he'll be spending his visit in the complex, just sitting around doing nothing. When five people parachute from their plane onto the island for an unknown reason, Eric fears they will be abandoned, as he himself was for so long. He sneaks out of the complex and sets out to rescue the parachutists, only to discover they are five reckless teenage filmmakers who intended to land on Isla Sorna all along. Can Eric convince them of their foolishness, or has he risked his life for nothing? I highly recommend this book to readers who enjoyed the first book in the Jurassic Park Adventures series. ... 4-0 out of 5 stars Dolphin Watch
The book I chose to review is Dinotopia Dolphin Watch by John Vornholt. It is about a boy named Joshua Longacre and how he won't accept Dinotopia as his home. He only socializes with dolphins and Milos, a seaside boy. He steals a sky galley to try to get away. He also tries to persuade Milos to tell him the way off Dinotopia. I would recommend this book to a friend because it is adventurous.

5-0 out of 5 stars Diving with dinos
