Good Practice! LISTENING IS *NOT* ON CASSETTE, IT IS ON CD!
First, this book does NOT come with audiocassettes! Instead, the audio portion of the book comes on 4 CDs. So, if you do not have a CD player, you will NOT be able to listen to the Listening Practice.

This book does NOT have a computer test. Instead, it has some questions in the book that simulate the computer questions. Half of the tests are written for people who have to take the paper test, the other half are for people who have to take the computer test.

If you can only buy one book, you need a review of grammar and other sections of the test, and you want some practice tests, this book is your best choice. It has a lot of grammar explanations and lots of practice questions. So, it is a great value--the price is low, and you get a lot of questions.

However, the book is not perfect. Some of the questions are old, and you will not see those types on the TOEFL anymore. Furthermore, many of the questions are easier than the real TOEFL, especially the reading sections. Many of my students have said that the reading section is very, very hard and that they were not prepared for the real TOEFL when they took it.

In short, if you can only buy one book, this one is okay, but you really should buy official TOEFL materials so that you will be ready for the real test when you take it.

I was looking for a book not a tape cassete.
Today I used your search machine looking for a book and bought thinking I was buying a book, and when I received my order confirmation #104-0835139-3206048, I discovered that I bought a tape. No problem, but I bought a CD set from the same author, and I was looking for a exercise book. I'm very angry about this.

How can I have the Cdrom on this book?

Excellent, Student Oriented
I bouth the 9th edition with 4 cds. This book is excellent, It is very organized and I loved the Plan of study. It will help you to understand how the TOEFL is structured. The excercises are not as difficult as the TOEFL exam (some friend told me) but they help you to understand the methodology of the TOEFL. It would be great to have the CD ROM and the 4 listening CDs all together in one kit, in order to practice in a "real" TOEFL environment. I tried to buy only the CD rom and I couldn't get it without buy another book. It is a shame that they do not sell only the CD Rom. Beside this I will recomend this book. If you are going to buy this book and you have a computer, I would recommend to buy the one that has the CD ROM and then buy the CDs separately. Do not make my mistake. ... Read more

NOT for the CBT TOEFL and not much information!
This book is a good start, but it does not even come close to preparing you for all the material you will see on the TOEFL.

For example, the grammar review is TOO short for most of my students; I must use other books to supplement this book.

The book is pretty long, but most of the book consists of practice tests--Princeton Review puts one question on each page (trying to simulate what the computer will look like). For example, the last 150 pages of the book are ONE test.

Finally, the CD-ROM is NOT a Computer Test. You will get only some listening practice.

Get the Longman book instead!

This book gave total security for me to crack the exam
The book is great, and it does come with two Cd-roms indeed. The problem is that one is kind of "hidden" behind the other, at the same plastic envelope. All the hints are there for anyone that wants to succeed in the exam. I strongly recommend this book.

Does NOT include CD-ROM!
What a disappointment! This book (recommended by Amazon) does NOT include a CD-ROM or a copy of the CBT. Despite the picture of two CDs on the cover, and the words "CD-ROM and Audio CD", there is only one _Audio CD_ included.

Buyer beware: this book does NOT include a computer practice exam!

Useful practice kit but Iack of a CAT's version of the test.
The NTC's Practice Tests for the TOEFL is a must-to-have companion for the NTC's Preparation Kit. I bought this kit because I did need more practice material for the TOEFL. The practice exercises are very similar to theirs in the Preparation Kit but are useful in order to get expertise for the TOEFL. The most valuable thing in the Practice Kit are the casettes because for the TOEFL is necessary to listen a lot. The problem that I founded is that the exercises was easier that in the real TOEFL test. As a recomendation to the NTC people I'm strongly suggest to incorporate a CD-ROM with CAT versions of the test this will give a more realistic aproximation to the real test. ... Read more

The WORST TOEFL Book on the Market!
I am a professional instructor and must warn anybody who is thinking of buying this book: it is simply *horrible*! There are many mistakes in the book, the grammar is too simple and the listening section is amateurish. There are much better choices!
