5-0 out of 5 stars The best astrology book EVER ! !
I never knew Mark Twain was born on my birthday November 30!

5-0 out of 5 stars This book is amazing!
I happened across this book in a store, and it is so right on. I not only looked up myself, but also my family members and boyfriend. It was so accurate it was scary! While some of the descriptions can be somewhat ambiguous, it is fun to read and has a ton of information not only about each day of the year, but also different parts of each month and zodiac sign.

5-0 out of 5 stars Totally fun book! And a little eerie too ;o )
This book is so fun if your into astrology. For the most part its right on the money. I was born on October 23rd and they call that the day of conflicting kharma. God that couldnt be a better description for me. Also the strengths and weaknesses are almost always right on. This is a good book to have when your sittin around just kickin back and talking to friends. Its very interesting.

5-0 out of 5 stars ESPecially for people who want to know themselves and others
I really have no idea who Gary Goldschneider and Joost Elffers are, but somehow, they've managed to find out every little thng about every person I know and placed that information on the pages of this book.

Whenever people come over and want to get a quick thumbnail sketch about someone, they just find that person's birthday and turn the the corresponding page. There, in a concise but surprisingly in-depth essay, is a bit about the standards and practices of whatever birthdate you're looking at! Included are celebrities who were also born on that day throughout history and a few other interesting tid bits.

It makes for a fascinating party game, to find out just how "true" you think these comments are for you. So far, everyone I know has said they've been nailed to a tee by this book. I ask you... can everyone be wrong?

Highly recommended (for entertainment purposes only).

3-0 out of 5 stars Nice book but it misses alot
I read this book several months back, while i found it somewhat accurate, it misses alot. Read the book Secrets Of Your Rising Sign by William Lamb for a much better look at who you are and how the time of day determines the obvious things about you.The time of year is a more subtle influence. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Guaranteed to be kept by your Bedside!
Linda Goodman's Love Signs has been a classic in the field for decades, and for very good reason. Her material is very helpful in guiding you through the maze of relationships and relationship building. Reading about the different signs and their compatibilities can help you not only when you have fallen in love or met someone "interesting", but it can also help when you are having problems or if you are trying to formulate what we know in the metaphysical field as a "wish list". When you learn more about the different signs and their capabilities and drawbacks in love, you will be able to refine your own taste and expectations. If you are a beginner at love, you may not even realize that there are as many different ways to court and express love as there are signs (12). Do you know what you are looking for? Maybe there's something you want that you didn't even dare dream of. Look in this book ... you may find it in one of the signs. I recommend ordering this book today and keeping it by your bedside! (There is also no better way to learn beginning astrology as with Linda Goodman.)

5-0 out of 5 stars A crisp and humourous view of how each sign relates to anoth
Linda Goodman knew a lot about astology and she also understood people. This book warm-heartedly matches the signs with the general hope that all people, with enough love and understanding, match. She finds humor in adversity and passion in various matchings. I love this book. Actually, I was looking to replace mine, as mine as borrowed and never returned. Linda Goodman shows a lot of herself on the many pages, funny, genuine, loving, but that's an Aries for you.

5-0 out of 5 stars A personal favorite
This book teaches so much more than the dynamics of relationships. In the same way we learn about ourselves through our interactions with others so can we learn about the sun signs by their relation to the other signs. Also, personal perception affects much of horoscope interpretation and Linda Goodman's Love Signs accounts for this in a way more books don't; indeed, the book transforms it to the readers' advantage.

5-0 out of 5 stars This is great Book.........
Beleive me this is a great Book. But Still People Give It Negative Rating Because They Expect Too Much From It.Of Course I Agree This Is Surface Astrolgy. But It IS Not Possible To Write Everything About 12 x 12 Signs In 944 pages.
I find This Book Very Funny.Bit laugh & Learn Kind. You Cant Expect Them To Be Accurate Because Ascendant & Moonsign Affects Behavior too.Still this Book Is Very Much Accurate.I Am Totally Satisfied With It.

3-0 out of 5 stars A lot of fun
This book is very comprehensive regarding general pairing of astrological signs. However, despite its stout appearance, it really just skims the surface of true astrological insight. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Helps you to understand people, but has a limit
This is probably the best book on astrology. Linda Goodman seems to characterize most sun signs well. Every sign has a man, woman and child profile. For example, leo man, leo woman and leo child. The descriptions are fun to read. It helps me understand certain behavior from other people (which is sometimes irritating to say the least) The major criticism is that Linda seems to have a preconceived notion about certain things. For instance, on her web site, it is said "Presidents should be never from a mutable sign." And then she goes on to say why Lyndon Johnson and Kennedy were not suitable for the president's post. I for one, believe that hard work will yield the results, not the sun sign you were born under and who is Linda to decide who is a fit or misfit? We all saw how a fire sign (Linda is fond of saying she is a "double" aries fire sign) president did ! (Bill Clinton) Just keep in mind that a sun sign (or a moon sign or star sign) cannot pigeonhole people. The fact is people are JUST TOO UNIQUE. They ARE CAPABLE of doing whatever they SET THEIR MINDS ON.

5-0 out of 5 stars Linda Goodman's Sun Signs
I have purchased several copies of this book over the past few years, but every time I loan it to someone because I want them to read a certain part, amazingly they never return it. Then I have to buy another copy!

Linda Goodman has an amazing talent for explaining astrology in a humorous way in which we can all relate and understand. I refer to this book a lot when I'm trying to "figure someone out". I personally have a library of Astrology books, but this is the one I most often refer to, followed in a close second by Linda Goodman's "Love Signs", and a puple book entitled "The only astrology book you'll ever need".

For anyone who is interested in astrology, even if they don't know a lot about it, this is a good book to start with!

5-0 out of 5 stars The best astrology book ever
There is a reason this book is still in print over 30 years after it's original publication: it is simply the BEST astrology book ever written. It is easy to use, with no confusing and overwhelming diagrams to figure out. Linda knew her stuff, and it shows. I agree with the reviewer that the horoscopes in the newspaper are bogus, but Linda was a professional and a great author.

5-0 out of 5 stars Dont Show It To Anyone...
Seriously Guys Not Only This One,But Dont Show Linda's Any book To Anyone (If You Have One)& Dont Lend It Because Chances of your Getting Them Back Is Very Low.Linda's All Work Is Unmatchable. You Will need This Book Throughout Your Life To Study People around You.Everything She Said Doesn't Apply To Specific Sign Because Moonsign & Ascedent plays Vital Role Too.But Still You Can Get 70% Accurate Reading.I Think That Is Pretty Good percentage.

5-0 out of 5 stars BEST ASTROLOGY BOOK EVER!
I have about 50 - 100 books on Astrology, yet this remains the best one in my collection. I constantly buy and have extra copies on hand at all times to hand out to friends that relate an interest in this field.

Being an atheist, I was one who did not like to beleive in mumbo jumbo like religion or astrology. Like most, I thought of astrology as the "fortune cookie" quotes that would apear in the paper every day telling you if you were going to be rich, or get a new job or lover. Well, turns out that Astrology is the science of personality traits, NOT predicting the future.

The Astrology section in your local paper IS mumbo jumbo, and has the same acuracy as a fortune cookie.

This book does not tell you if you are going to be rich or predict your future, it just describes personality traits of people.

How can the day you were born on determine your personality? It works the other way around, your personality genes determine what day you are born. But we all know that, for instance, two brothers raised by the same parents and upbringing can have completely different personalities, so that really has nothing to do with your personality at all. You can try hard to change behaviors like being impatient, practical, emotional, critical, but all this is part of your genetic makeup, no different than your eye color or other things you can't change about yourself.

Talking to a stranger many years ago, after just a few minutes of talking, she was able to tell me what Astrology sign I was, and was correct. She got my attention, recomended this book, and now I am able to guess people's astrology signs many times and also recomend this book now.

What makes this book great, is that it has seperate personality traits for males and females of the same sign, and traits for children, bosses, and employees. Get a new job? Find out your bosses birthday, then look him up in this book to find out the best way to ask this type of person for a raise, or what he likes or dislikes in his employees. Or for the employer, find out the same about your employees.

Instead of reading this book from front to back, you want to think of your best friends and family members, then read the chapters about them and see how scary close the descriptions really are.

After a while, when you know at least a few people of every sign, when you meet someone new, and find out their birthday, you just think about the other people you know with that sign, and you instantly know a lot about this person you never met before, because they will react and behave in the same way.

The other reason this book is a must, is that the cut off days that give the end of one sign, and the start of the next sign is exactly right from my experience. Many books will differ on dates, and I have known some people who say they don't know which sign they are, because some books say they are this, and other books say they are that, but knowing them after a while, it is not hard to see which one they actually are, and this book has always been acurate with the dates, when comparing to actual people I have known that are on those border dates.

In fact, there has been an argument over if Hitler was an Aries or a Taurus, because his birthday is on April 20th. Some books include that as Taurus, this book and some others include it as Aries. Having researched Hitler extensively over the past few years, and just having read about his youth from his childhood friend, there is no doubt he was an Aries, and that again jives with this book.

I have read through most of the astrology books available, and none come as acurate and close as this book does. Linda Goodman was a genius in this field, and it is sad she is no longer with us. ... Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars Attractive packaging........
The book is certainly gorgeous to look at. But the title is a bit misleading. I do not think that a book that barely mentions such features as the nodes of the moon, the part of fortune or the asteroids should call itself- "The Only Astrology Book You Will Ever Need". It discusses the basics quite nicely in the usual cookbook formula. But like most beginning and intermediate students of astrology will tell you, this info becomes stale and repetitive. I suggest the works of Martin Schulman- his series is great. He understands that all the aspects that are relevent to the study and implementation of astrology cannot be summed up in a few hundred pages. Also Llewellyn has a series that is worth a peek. It has views and research from noted astrologers that are much more detailed and in depth. "The Only Astrology Book You Will Ever Need" will leave the reader with more questions than answers, in my opinion.

4-0 out of 5 stars excellent beginning primer
When I picked this book up, I found that most of my assumptions about astrology were wrong! It is easy & interesting. Just remember that the field is subject to the interpretations of the chart caster. I feel that learning to do your own charts is the only way to be sure that the caster is not suckering you into a long term but unproductive (for you & your pocket book) relationship. Get in here & learn it for yourself! If it appeals to you, delve deeper. Since many people do NOT know the exact hour they were born, Ms. Woolfolk's sliding charts are a God send.

5-0 out of 5 stars The book provides a perfect foundation....
...for the beginner or expert to expand his or her horizons in astrology. A great reference, this book by Woolfolk should be at every astrologer's fingertips for easy flip-to-the page guides. Whether one forgets the meaning of each House or what a Midheaven is, the price is perfect for the book as a reference guide. I was personally introduced to the book by my mentor and teacher. My copy was purchased for under $5 and I will treasure it forever.

5-0 out of 5 stars The Wonderland World of Astrology at Your Fingertips
I couldn't agree more with most of the other reviewers. This truly is THE only book on astrology you will ever need, whether you are new to the whole, exciting world of astrology, or if you are already a pro. I would not say I'm a hard core astology person, however I've always had an interest in it and found that the majority of things in this book were right on the money! It's almost as if the person who wrote this book knew exactly who I was and everything there is to know about my personality and the personality of other people I know. It is well written, easy to follow, and organized well into different sections. I even let a friend who is a die hard astrology follower, borrow this book and she was very impressed by it. Having read dozens of books on astrology, she said that this one definitely blew all the others away.

5-0 out of 5 stars Never a more appropriate title!
This book is an astrologer's BIBLE. I have many astrology resources on my shelf, but this book is the first I reach for time and time again. I have casted numerous comprehensive charts for family and friends using no other resource than this book. I purchased this book as a beginner, and still use it in my advanced studies. A solid astrolgy book, with all the answers you'll ever need. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars This book may be psycic
This is the only book I have had to buy over ten or eleven times. Everytime I let one of my friends borrow this book they always seem to have trouble getting it back to me. The accuracy of this publication is almost errie. Both myself and anyone I have let look at my copy have been amazed at the almost perfect description of our personalitys. Even if you don't believe in astrology, there are still plenty of good ideas in this book to help anyones sex life or relationship.

5-0 out of 5 stars The Best Astrology book I have owned...several times...!!!
This is the Best Astrology book I have owned...several times... and the only one that never comes back to me. I do not suggest loaning this book to anyone. Make them buy it !

This book is astoundingly Accurate and Soooooo much fun to research (to see if it *really* measures up). I have owned this book for a long time and discussed it with numerous individuals and couples. Everyone seems to agree that it is very Accurate and amazingly easy to comprehend or use.

Most Astrology books are boring and unexplainable to "Non-Believers," but Sexual Astrology speaks for and proves itself.

The advice in this work is sound, and very helpful in relationship matters. This book will certainly help you work things out, in a Polygamous relationship ;)

5-0 out of 5 stars Good book
I am going to hafta buy another one since I lent mine out and havent seen it since lol. They must have liked it just as much as me. This is a good book. Tells you what other signs will work well with you in the bedroom and why, as well as telling you whether or not your suited for other things. I witnessed some of it first hand lol. But its nothing to live by, just good insight.

A friend of mine had this book and I immediately bought one for myself after reading about my sign. All I can say is whoa! It not just general stuff you can read in any book or online. Some of the specific things are very accurate. Esp. the part about how to break up with someone of a certain sign! And compatibility? On the money!
This book is a fun read for sure!

5-0 out of 5 stars The Best of its type -- a great gift
I found this to be a truly great book. However, it took me a while to get to this point because, as soon as I got it home, my wife fell in love with it and I couldn't tear it away from her for a long time. The historical perspective combined with the "love interest" capability make it both fun to read and remarkably useful. It is a reference work to be be cherished and used for years.

My small business is planning to give dozens as Christmas gifts to our clients.

5-0 out of 5 stars A great approach
Bought this book as a gift for my wife. She spent 2 hours revieweing all her friends' and relatives' birthdays and found most of them to right on the money. We had a dinner party and it was great fun to read everyone's information. A great entertaining book!

No dinner party is complete with out this huge source of reference as we discovered, everyone was looking up their birthday and reading it out then looking up their children ,parents and even grandparents. One of our guests became so engrossed we never heard from him the whole evening.
The entries are amazingly accurate the history and special reports fascinating, it also includes your love potential, your luck magnetism and your drive and amition. All the chinese signs are included and it even includes mystical cards.
I can really recommend the book if you have to make a speech at a birthday or special occasion it is invaluable.
I discovered this when making the speech for my mothers 79th birthday. All her history , destiny and personality were so accurate, the speech was a great success. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Fabulous!! I will survive!
Thank you, Stefanie and Sherene, for holding my hand through the roughest time of my life. You've written the book every woman has been waiting for.

5-0 out of 5 stars Required reading for every woman on the planet
This incredible book, Surviving Saturn's Return, is one the best Astrology books ever written. (With all due respect to Sidney Omarr). Sherene and Stefanie have hit on one of the biggest secrets in Astrology and uncovered it in the most sincere way- This book should get 100 stars- not just 5.
Stefanie and Sherene write in a way that speaks to you - not at you. Truthful and direct, but not harsh, and with a large dose of hope for the future. And as they explain to you who Mr. SAturn is and take you on his roller-coaster journey through each sign, they travel WITH you -almost like they are there in person, speaking directly to you. Their refreshing theory on Saturn and his Return ANSWERS SO MANY questions that many other books on Astrology leave out. You begin to understand why you may be going through continous crisis and start to put pieces of your life puzzle together.
"Surviving Saturns Return" is FOR and applies to ALL women who have had a continous crisis or obstacles thoughout their life -not just women who are turning thirty or near the big 3-0.
Sherene and Stefanie have truly charted and uncovered previously little known and little explored territory with their detailed analysis of Saturn and his Return.
In addition, their website is a complementary support tool that stands well on it's own. A GREAT website to go to and explore.
But get the book AND visit the website to get the full blown effect.

5-0 out of 5 stars Loved it
Oh I really needed this book a few years ago! The authors are straight talkers-who explain (with a good dose of humor) why your life seems to suddenly go out of whack, and more importantly how to deal with it. I keep going back to the book--not only for the straighforward helpful advice, but I love the humor, the examples that they use..well everything. I heartily reccomend this book. Wonderful--even if you get a bit confused about astrology like I do.

5-0 out of 5 stars If you're in your late twenties, you must read this book!
I just read "Surviving Saturn's Return" and I can't believe how much it helped put the last year in perspective. I only wish I'd read it before I had to live it! I didn't even believe in astrology before I read this book, but everyone I know has reported the same sort of turmoil in the year before turning thirty, so I thought it might help. It's a really great and useful read--highly recommended.

5-0 out of 5 stars A very real phenomenon, an indispensable book.
I am presently 29 and going through my Saturn Return. I've always thought of astrology as entertainment and not as a tool that could actually help me to understand the fluctuations of my mood, feelings, behavior or the world around me. This book has put everything in perspective for me. Whether or not you buy into astrology, if you're turning 30 and you feel like your life is in chaos, you'll find solace here, and a planetary basis to support it. The writing style's quick and witty and the writers are clearly experts in what they preach. Highly recommended. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Find Out What Enhances and Detracts From Your Life Purpose
"The sign in which the North Node falls denotes the psychological shift that need to occur within the personality. The house containing the North Node shows the experiences that allow the person to access this new psychological awareness...The South Node position in a chart (located at the point exactly opposite of the North Node) depicts an aspect in our character that has been overemphasized in past lives, and thus tends to take over the personality in this lifetime and throw us off balance. When we are acting without awareness, we tend to 'act out' the South Node position in response to our environment because we have been accustomed to that approach working to our advantage. However, in this lifetime, our experiences show us that approaching a situation from the stance shown by the position of the Southern Node of our chart is no longer working..." -- Jan Spiller in Astrology For The Soul

In her book Astrology for the Soul, astrologer Jan Spiller shows you the key to discovering your hidden talents, deepest desires, and the ways to avoid negative influences that may distract you from achieving your true life purpose, as revealed by the North Node of the Moon in your natal astrological chart. Although Spiller mostly uses the term North Node, she takes into consideration that the North Node exists in polarity with the South Node--and how they both manifest in our attitude, personality, and drive.

To discover your North Node, you need to generate a chart. You can do this by going to Once you enter the birth time, date, and place a chart will be generated. Chart Drawing, Ascendant is where generated charts are stored. To find your North Node (NN) look for the glyph (symbol) that looks like a horseshow with curlicues on the end. The South Node (NN) will be in the House directly opposite the North Node, although it won't be pictured. The symbol for the SN is an inversion of the NN glyph. You also can also find your NN placement by gettng software like Mapping Your Birthchart.

In Astrology For The Soul each of the 12 Nodal positions are examined in areas like:

    *Attributes to develop
    *What these people really want
    *Healing Affirmations
    *Healing theme songs

Here is a small sample of Attributes to Develop for each of the 12 Nodal positions as described in this book:

Aries - Independence, trusting one's impulses, and self-nurturance

Taurus - Honoring expressed needs of self and others, forgiveness, and gratitude.

Gemini - Tact, logic, and listening.

Cancer - Empathy, humility, and accepting others flaws without judgment.

Leo - Individuality, self-confidence, and enthusiasm.

Virgo - Moderation, creating routines, and taking risks in spite of fears.

Libra - Cooperation, seeing through another's eyes, creating win/win situations.

Scorpio - Self-discipline, choosing constructive change, and enjoying high-risk situations.

Sagittarius - Patience, speaking from Higher Consciousness, and intuitive listening.

Capricorn - Self-control, self-respect, and letting go of the past.

Aquarius - Objectivity, desire for friendship, and active participation in groups.

Pisces - Compassion, surrending anxiety to a Higher Power, and welcoming change.

I highly recommend this informative book for releasing negative life patterns, embracing your strengths, and living a more centered and self-directed life.

5-0 out of 5 stars Very insightful book!
I have been interested in astrology all my life, and have recently begun in-depth study. As part of my journey in knowledge, I found I wanted to know a lot more about the North Node, and the message and lessons it imparts. Jan Spiller's book is giving me great guidance in this area. I highly recommend it to any astrological student, but especially anyone wanting to learn about the North Node.

2-0 out of 5 stars A book about reincarnation & north nodes
Hello, I am a serious student of astrology, and I did not enjoy this book. It spoke too much of my previous life, and it is more copious than it needs to be. In addition, the author only talks about the nodes in signs and houses, and does not include aspects. The information provided is superficial and available for free on the Internet.

Email me if you have any questions or would like to discuss the book.

5-0 out of 5 stars Informative and thought provoking
This book focuses on the Moon's Nodes from the point of view of reincarnation; however, you don't need to believe in reincarnation to benefit from this text. The author summarizes her extensive experience with many clients in interpreting their Nodes. Her delineations ring true and there is much of value in what she has to say. I found this book much more focused and detailed than her previous book called Spirtual Astrology (which was rather general and vague). It is well written and certainly well worth reading. She deals only with the house and sign placements of the Nodes and promises to publish another book on aspects involving the Nodes (which I hope she publishes soon).

5-0 out of 5 stars This is the "guts" of spiritual astrology
This is my all-time favorite astrology book about my favorite piece of the chart: the Moon's Nodes, which have to do with karma and past lives, and indicate your most karmically appropriate direction in this lifetime. This book is enlightening on many levels and gives you a unique perspective on your soul's pattern that really helps everything make sense.

Best of all, you don't even need to know how to read charts to understand this book. All the North Node placements are in a table in the front of the book. And if you do read charts, you can look up the Node's house placement by house as well as by sign, for more information. This gives you an idea of the soul's direction in the chart, and which energies benefit the person on this level. ... Read more

    Book Description

Though the practice of astrology is many centuries old, it is only perhaps once in a generation that a thoroughly new, totally original way of looking at the zodiac is discovered. The New Astrology is such a system.

For those convinced that there is nothing new under the sun--or the stars--Suzanne White offers a startling and provocative thesis: There are not 12 but 144 signs of the zodiac, each distinct, each unique, each vital to everyone's quest for self-understanding.
By combining the astrological systems of the traditional Chinese (terrestrial) with that of the Occident (celestial), Suzanne White demonstrates that each of us is governed by two signs.Hence, a Capricorn Tiger is likely to be quite different from a Capricorn Cat, as is a Leo Dog from a Leo Dragon, and so on. This unique blend of Western and Chinese Astrology gives detailed analyses of each of the 144 signs, including individualized sections of love, sex and romance, business, money, careers, home life and compatibility (or lack of it) with other signs.
Already a best-seller in France, The New Astrology is a massive undertaking and the result of more than a decade of research and study of the two systems. It offers insights into not only our own lives, but also those of all who are close to us.Suzanne White's prose is lucid, candid, and suffused with a sense of fun, but The New Astrology is above all a serious tool for self-awareness and understand the rich variety of human nature all around us.

5-0 out of 5 stars The Best
I'm a professional astrologer/card reader and have been for 20 years. I read this book when it first came out and slowly integrated a tiny bit of its info into my readings. Now, 15 years later, I begin every reading with "What is your date of birth?" When my client says August, 1960 and then tells me her boyfriend was born in February, 1954 I know instantly that she's a Rat and he's a Horse, two of the most incompatible signs ever to lay thier heads on the same pillow. And when Ms. Rat goes on to describe how selfish Mr. Horse is and tells me how she lays awake at night chewing her nails because he borrowed her car and her insurance bill is two days late, well. . . I can help her see that it isn't him or her, it's the connection. Because of what I've learned from this book, I know to steer her toward an easier, less stressful alliance with an equally nervous Monkey or a powerful, protective Dragon.
It is nothing less than a FACT that Suzanne White SINGLE HANDEDLY popularized Chinese Astrology in America. Other authors (90% of whom made it to the bookshelf in her wake) may describe the topic in more depth, but they certainly haven't made Chinese Astrology easier to understand nor have they made it easier to apply to life. I know. I've read every book published on the subject and there is none better than Suzanne White's glorious, orginal, powerful New Astrology. Buy it and grow wiser.

    5-0 out of 5 stars GREAT FUN/VERSATILE/ACCURATE.
Suzanne White's books always amuse me. Some find her writing style a bit on the egocentric side, but I enjoy her off-beat humour. This book is an especially desirable one to own for astrology buffs, because it covers two types in one package. Ingeniously, Suzanne has cleverly combined the East with the West astrology-wise: the results are sometimes striking & surprising but they are always entertaining. White's style of writing is more fun than scientific, which makes the reading experience enjoyable - for most people, anyway. Like Theadora Lao and the late Linda Goodman, Suzanne takes the reader by the hand and guides them with humourous personal observations and episodes, therefore making the reader feel completely at ease and sometimes captivated by the sheer cheekiness of her observations: she doesn't expect us to take astrology TOO seriously. Just a spiritual blueprint for the game of life.

5-0 out of 5 stars AWESOME!!!!
I LOVE this book!!!! Every time I pull it out, people are amazed at how uncannily accurate it is! The only ones who do not seem to agree are the ones the book depicts in a basically overall negative light... which has not covered many people in my encounters. I have had people read it and rush to get their own copy. The thing I find so uncanny is that this horoscope book is not limited to 12 category of people... it covers 144 categories and with accuracy.

5-0 out of 5 stars Uncannily Accurate Character Readings
With this clever blend of Western and Chinese Astrologies, Suzanne White has really re-invented the wheel. She's funny (as always) and not always kind (as usual) but I can't help it, The New Astrology says it all! White not only tells you who you are and how you might behave in all possible situations, she matches you up with the other New Astrology signs best suited to your nature. You are guaranteed to laugh and wince and recognize your faults and gloat over your qualities and come out of there with more understanding of who you really are. Same goes for all the other people in your life - family, lovers, kids and even your banker can be run through Suzanne's simple system and found out for exactly who she or he is and why you either get along or don't. Best part? You can contact Suzanne White directly on her website at I wrote to her a few times. She always replies personally and pretty nearly always makes me laugh. A diehard Leo/Dog Fan

5-0 out of 5 stars Sun Signs PLUS! (Even MORE specific!)
Instead of just covering Western Astrology and Sun Signs pertaining to the time of year you were born, this books ADDS Eastern Astrology in which it is the YEAR you were born that determines your sign.

This book takes personality traits from BOTH types of Astrology and COMBINES them to give you a MORE ACURATE personality trait!

Thus, two people of the same Sun Sign, who do have slightly different personalities, because they were born in different years, can be given their own more specific Astrology "Sign".

It also explains how two people with differnt Sun Signs are alike in some ways because they were born in the same year.

If you are like me, and don't like the books with too much hard to understand charts and technical talk that reads like some mathematic algebra formulas, you will appreciate this book, it is an easy to read and understand for everyone book, especially those of us that don't know how to draw up "star charts" and such.

This book is a very simple way to find each person's combination of signs, then read the personality traits for that person. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars more parody than fact, but a joy to read
This review is more in response to some of the reviews written about this book than the book itself, though I will get to that. To anyone who criticized the book's astrological credibility you completely missed the point. It's not meant to be completely accurate or to explore the complex sides of the displine. It's just meant to be fun! If you're offended by the male-bashing humor, fine, but if your beef is with the stereotyping you need to lighten up! I don't think the authors took it seriously so neither should you.

As for the book, it was the best $ I've spent in a while! As an astrology student of 10 years I was quite amused by how witty their descriptions of the dark sides of each zodiac archetype. They're fresh, they're quick and they're funny even if their understanding of astrology may not go beyond the supermarket variety. This book is a highly recommended read if you're in need of a laugh or are nursing a broken heart. You won't want to throw this away.

Of course, if you're looking for a book that can give you sound astrological advice about romance and relationships look elsewhere. Astrology is a LOT more than sun sign stereotyping as the sign sign is only 1 aspect of a personality. Pick up a book that's more wellrounded and then just buy this one for fun.

5-0 out of 5 stars Brutal, Yet Immensely Entertaining
This book defies categorization. Astrology? Humor? Relationships? Vitriol? All of the above, which is what makes it so fun. Ladies, if you've just been dumped or if you have a sneaking suspicion that the one you're with is a bastard, then this is the book for you. This absolutely unapologetic volume of man hatred takes the done-to-death astrology motif and applies it to defining a man's most despicable traits with frightening accuracy. Forget Linda Goodman's Love Signs. It's the bad stuff that can hurt you, and Lang and Rajah have detailed all of it in brutal honesty and high hilarity.

This is the kind of book I want to throw away as soon as I've exorcised the demons that accompany my broken heart (and hurt pride), but that would be a waste, because I'm bound to need it again, even if only for some good old male-bashing fun. It's a must have for gen Xers, nexters, boomers, and any woman who engages in the dating war. It's well researched, well written, and well, it's just flat out a lot of fun.

Compatibility tests are included to find out which bastard suits you best. After all, we still can't live with them or without them, bastard status notwithstanding. Guaranteed to perk up the crestfallen and the downright despondent.

1-0 out of 5 stars My Favorite Dating Astrology Book
This book is what you might call trash with no redeeming value whatsoever. Do not waste your life reading this utterly pointless drivel. If you think it's funny enough to read, that's kind of sad. If you think there's some truth to it, that's REALLY sad. Please please please go read something else. Anything else. Please. The power to choose is yours, take it. TAKE IT

1-0 out of 5 stars Astrologically illiterate.
I'm an Aries male who reads even though, according to the authors of this book, the Aries male is very unlikely to read anything beyond Dr. Seuss. This claim, like almost all the claims about the Aries male, would seem to fly in the face of even the most astrologically subliterate layperson. (...) As to the claim that the Aries male is averse to "women's lib," as the authors so old-fashionedly call it, one need only consider that the Aries male admires independent people to see through the astrological illiteracy of this phrase. (...)

Anyway, my point isn't to defend the Aries male. The Aries male, after all, can defend himself. My point is that, after reading my own sign and comparing not just to what I know about myself but to everything I've ever read about my sign (including, especially, Linda Goodman's insightful astrology), it became quicly obvious that these writers don't know the first thing about astrology (or, I would guess, about feminism either).

4-0 out of 5 stars So Good
This is the ultimate "Get Over Him" book, a wonderful companion to the other things women do to get over a guy. It's raucously funny, scathing, and even comes with little compatibility see which Bastard you should be with. I've seen some reviews taking this book too literally though...this book wasn't meant to be informative to people who like & believe in astrology. It was also not meant to be fair. It was meant to entertain readers with really exaggerated star sign characteristics. And it succeeds mightily. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Great book!
Stephen Arroyo is in my opinion the best astrologer of our time. He is able to combine impeccable technique with a deep understanding of the human being and its psyche. His astrology is a reflection of his humanistic orientation and his keen insight. All his books are an incredible worthwhile read for both the beginning and the veteran astrologer.

In his Chart Interpretation Handbook, Arroyo gives us a way of looking at the birth chart in terms of the energetic building blocks within it. Unlike more cookbook style texts, he does not provide just a list of planets, signs, houses but teaches the reader how to tune into the chart in a more subtle way. At first this text might seem a bit vague, but it is ultimately a text in which Arroyo shows us his particular way of sensing the subtle nuances of the astrological energies.

Arroyo also in this text is a master at showing us how to unravel the themes within the birth chart. I particularly loved his description of the sub-tones of planets that is something that I use to this day in my chart interpretations. Stephen Arroyo is a fantastic astrologer and writer. All his books are marvellous and this one is no exception. I cannot recommend it enough.

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent reference book
As a new student to astrology I appreciate Stephen Arroyo's straightforward style. Easy to read and easy to understand, Arroyo breaks down chart interpretation into the basic elements of astrology.

If you are familiar with Parker's Astrology, this book is totally different. While Parker's is very detailed, a sort of encyclopedia for astrology, this is a much smaller volume that gives general guidelines. Arroyo deliberately kept things general. Evidently he thinks it's best to think in broad terms and to only deal with the essentials of a chart when interpreting it. By teaching us the basics of astrology Arroyo helps us do that. I see Arroyo's book and the Parker book being very complementary--being a new student I appreciate what each has to offer.

This is a great place to start of you are serious about understanding the fundamentals of astrology.

5-0 out of 5 stars Incredible
This book is the most valuable reference tool I own. I've always admired the way Stephen Arroyo makes astrology accessible and useful without all the hocus-pocus. He brings out the building blocks of chart interpretation and encourages the reader to think instead of just leaning on tradition. Everything you need is here: elements, signs, planets, houses, the trips and quads, aspects...

The language is clear, modern, and anyone from the most neophytic can understand and apply it immediately.

5-0 out of 5 stars The best
I find this book, like all his books, superb. I have studied astrology for over 30 years and still go back and back again to Stephen Arroyo's books. I think he is head and shoulders above all the other astrologers I have read in terms of enlightenment and intelligent understanding about the true nature and purpose of this cosmic science. I just wish he would write more books!

5-0 out of 5 stars The most accessible and accurate book of its kind.
Those familiar with Stephen Arroyo will not be surprised by the exceptional quality of this handbook which builds on his previous best-selling astrology books. In fact some of the content is directly lifted from previous work such as "Astrology,Karma and Transformation", but the book is no less value for money as a result. Step by step, Arroyo uses clear, modern language to reveal the essential meanings of any birth chart. Wisdom and clear intelligent insights spring from every page and even an experienced astrologer can benefit from Arroyo's imaginative and precise use of language.

Unlike some of Arroyo's early work, the Chart Interpretation Handbook is expertly laid out, due no doubt to the editing skills of Jerilynn Marshall who Arroyo enthusiastically acknowledges. Its all here: the four elements and the twelve signs, key concepts for the planets, the planets in the signs, the ascendant and midheaven, the houses and planetary aspects. And, true to Arroyo's sense of humour (always bubbling away beneath the profound depth of his writing), there's even a couple of cartoons!

I had been a practising astrologer for several years when this came out, and after one read through, the Chart Interpretation Handbook became my primary reference for birth chart work. It still is today! Highly recommended. ... Read more

Yet another of the few books I make certain to have within arms reach of my desk when I am working. Though only the major aspects are explained, I don't personally work enough with the minors to find that a problem. The explanations are detailed and throrough. Mr. Pelletier covers the opposition, conjunction, trine, square and sextile aspects. The only fault I found is that it isn't terribly user friendly. They aspects are divided up by aspect instead of planet and you must remember to go to the first planet instead of the later. (ie. Mars trined Uranus is under Trines>Mars to Uranus) If you ever plan to interpret a chart, this is one of those must haves. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars This Book Could Change Your Life
I picked up this book almost two decades ago while on a Spa Retreat near San Diego. At the same time, I bought my first I Ching. It would be hard to say which book influenced me more. Liz Greene's interpretations and explanations were so fascinating they forced me to go out and learn astrology so I could understand even more -- and one day I was a professional! Watch out for this book. It is amazing!! (Obviously you don't need to know astrology to understand what she says.)

5-0 out of 5 stars Intelligent intro to psychological astrology
An excellent introduction to the synthesis of modern astrology and psychology (mainly Jungian) that characterizes much of the highly influential writing by author Liz Greene. The complex subtleties of both astrology and psychology are clearly explained and interwoven throughout. The style is balanced, intelligent and imaginative.

A key theme is that what we meet in our external reality is very much a reflection of our inner life. Liz Greene draws on both the astrological symbols of the birth chart and psychological concepts such as projection, shadow and anima/animus to outline a path towards greater understanding and increased individual responsibility. This approach to life offers an alternative to blaming our parents, partners - or even astrological birth charts - for our problems! Wisely, there are no easy answers here, but there is a great deal of insight into the human condition. Example charts and case histories are used to great effect.

Not everyone is a fan of Liz Greene and her psychotherapeutic perspective on astrology, but "Relating" is one of many major contributions that Greene has made to the cosmic science. It is well worth a read, particularly if you are relatively new to astrology. Apart from anything else, there's plenty of general advice on relationships that just about everyone can benefit from!

5-0 out of 5 stars A powerful and revelatory expository on astrology.
I picked "Relating" by Liz Greene on the advice of a close friend of mine who has been a practicing intuitive astrologer for over 20 years. He said that he had "cut his teeth" on the book. I must say that I was not in the least disappointed. Liz Greene speaks in a clear language I had no trouble understanding, and unravels mysteries of life including knowing oneself (the crux of unravelling all of life's mysteries), relationships with parents, siblings, lovers, spouses, friends, bosses, G-d, the mystery of human sexuality in its myriad forms and suggests how we may meet the challenges presented by life. This is an absolute must read for the self-aware.

4-0 out of 5 stars For anyone interested in astrology and relationships
Anyone who has a basic knowledge of their individual astrology chart, will find these chapters quite easy to understand and able to provide some deep insights into our motivations for our relationships with other human beings be they mother, father, siblings, friends, marriage, workplace, social. They are all covered in some way in Liz Greene's text. Another title helpful to our understanding of ourselves is her title "Saturn" A New at Look at an Old Devil; ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Essential classic psychological guide to Saturn
Having recently re-discovered this early Liz Greene work, I still consider it as one of the best books, if not the best, on Saturn over the last 25 years. Any relative newcomer to astrology would do well to check out the deep psychological perspectives offered here, subtleties that are lost by more simplistic interpretations of Saturn in the chart.

Perhaps in contrast to some of her work, the depth and complexity of Liz Greene remains more accessible throughout this book. The layout is straightforward, a consideration of Saturn in each of the four elements (houses and signs) that combines intelligent astrology with fascinating and practical psychological perspectives. Aspects in the chart and synastry are also covered in separate chapters.

One of the main themes is the Jungian idea of embracing the dark and sinister side of Saturn as necessary for healthy, holistic self-development. "It is only when the Beast is loved for his own sake that he can be freed from the spell and become the Prince". Saturn asks that we take responsibility through accepting limitations, learning to use our painful experiences for growth. The approach is balanced, highly insightful with many psychological and esoteric angles covered throughout. As someone with a strong Saturn myself, I highly recommend this book! Read together with "Saturn In Transit" by Erin Sullivan, and you have just about everything you need to know about Saturn in modern astrology.

5-0 out of 5 stars Liz Greene's Best
Liz Greene serves as an insightful, sympathetic guide through this intensive tour of the various manifestations of Saturn. As a tool for self discovery, or as a source of detailed information to assist in work with others, this book is invaluable. Read it slowly, read it several times, use it as a reference.

5-0 out of 5 stars A must HAVE for all professional Astrologers
Having been a professional astrologer for over 35 years I didn't think I would find much new insight regarding Saturn - BOY WAS I EVER WRONG. This book is fabulous!

5-0 out of 5 stars You don't know astrology until you get this one!!!
Yeah I met Saturn, alright. It was as though she had a crystal into my very soul. But I cried horrible bitter tears of recognition because of the stark reality w/which Liz portrayed my childhood. (Of course 12th house H2O cusp, w/a Saturn Scorp(R). These very tears became tears of relief because I realized that I was not insane. That it was not my imagination. My childhood was written in small glyphs that a handfull could decipher. Easy enough to see, you just had to have the courage to look @ it. To look into the houses of the family, takes so much courage. 12, 8 & 4. All the things which makes up our belief patterns is the heart of Saturn. All those schedules & routines that we don't question. (Even the different stages of life. Biology--Western Medicine)All the things that we think will always continue to go on, in the same manner, if it is to have any longevity, must evolve and change, it must go on to the next level or face destruction. But it means destroying all those things that we hold sacred in our lives.

The dysfunctional motivations that I watched transfixed as a child, now in horror, were being expressed thru my own life. My inheirtance, etc.. I learned that my inheirtance is not just DNA. It's a psychological stance that's imprinted w/in your subsconscious as soon as you greet the world, fresh from the womb. If you're lucky, & truly honest w/yourself & keep digging, (simply because you're just in so much pain, that not to do so, is more harmful in the long run) you may actaully find yourself. All it takes a willingness to strip away the mask of the parental unit. & many times this stripping can take on a brutal aspect. Simply because our parents represent primal energy. The raw energy, the desire, the need to survive.

This book more than any other really set me on a path of reading a chart from a psychological stance as opposed to a "fated destiny" whereby you would have no other future other than the one designated by our parents.

Lest we forget, the exposure as children, our very nakedness. (there are only 2 other times in which we are so vulnerable & needy in our lives, one is when we fall in love. The final time is when we are old & need others to help us take care of us. The same way we came in, needy & unable to take care of ourselves.) The will to survive comes later. 1st & foremost is the desire to survive which feeds the will. Another reason it hurts is because our society loves to pay homage to "experts" read "gods". & who is above a god? To strip our parents from the very core of your being is to embrace your godhood. You ability to create on this plane. It is our foundation that is rocked. In looking @ your parents thru the lens of this planet, you meet your destiny. Never to be controlled by it or anything else again.

5-0 out of 5 stars Moving Away From Duality
Liz Greene is a great writer. She writes about astrology with the comfort and ease of a novelist. She is warm, intelligent and insightful and that comes through on every page. Her more or less psychological views of astrology may not be for everyone, but her explanation of this planet is brilliant and cohesive. Liz Greene goes away from the basic dualities of "benefic and malefic" to shine a more adult light on Saturn. There is much more to the planet than "bad or good" and Ms. Greene gives the details in a manner that is a joy to read. ... Read more

    Book Description

To Robert Hand, children are adults in the process of becoming. Parents will welcome this book and use it to help their children learn to cope with the complexities of modern life. Readers of all ages will use it to understand their own patterns of early development. The first four chapters define the roles of mother and father, explain the effects of various planetary energy systems and discuss the meaning of elements and crosses in a child's chart. Hand analyzes the charts of three children, including Judy Garland and Shirley Temple, to illustrate the astrological principles and psychological insights set forth in his intriguing study of personality development. The major part of the book consists of delineations of horoscope factors, written with young people in mind. Every planet in every sign, house and major aspect, as well as every rising sign, is interpreted in about three hundred words that stress possibilities rather than certainties., 6 1/2" x 9 1/4" ... 5-0 out of 5 stars A Book for Children of the Universe
Written by the world's greatest living astrologer, this book is actually my favorite basic astrology reference. It's a "cookbook" -- i.e., a crutch to use for beginning astrologers before they get this all permanently situated in their own brains. But for its purpose, it is absolutely divine. Hand is without equal in technical skill and, surprisingly, his interpretations are uncannily precise and on the mark, as if he were also psychic. He wrote these Planet Series books while Saturn was transitting his third house, no doubt giving him the discipline to achieve something so tedious yet important. I've always enjoyed learning in the simple, delightful way that children learn. This book is written to describe the effects of the signs, planets and houses in the birth charts of children, but I'll guarantee you, it fits every adult you've ever known as well. Perhaps we are all always Little Children trying to spell God, as Dion Fortune has said. I recommend this book, with a warm smile, to all my astrology students!

5-0 out of 5 stars clear, accurate, inspired
Rob Hand's now classic Planets in Youth provides insight into the charts of children and adults alike. This was the first book I consulted on astrology, and I still refer to it regularly when I'm having trouble finding the positive side of a difficult aspect. Hand's treatment of the birth chart should be a lesson to us all: that it is a map for personal growth, and even the difficult aspects can find a positive outlet. If I could have only one book on astrology, this would be it. Hand's clarity, accuracy, and inspired writing make this book a must have for all ages.

5-0 out of 5 stars I recommend this basic astrological research tool.
I have had Robert Hands' PLANETS IN YOUTH in my astrological library since it came out (1977)and I think it is a must for every parent. PLANETS IN YOUTH covers each planet, sign, the major aspects and houses in the horoscope in an exceedingly well organized format. Each chapter addresses one planet and a glyph representing the subject matter of each chapter occupies a shaded space on the edge of each page for easy reference. Unlike most basic astrology books, PLANETS IN YOUTH is dedicated to describing placements in a child's chart from a psychological perspective. Hand's writing is gentle and positive so that the text could be understood by a child (10 years old or above) and certainly by a sensitive lay adult. Yet the insights and accuracy he brings to the table are by no means unsophisticated. I am a mother who has practiced astrology as an avocation for 25 years, and I have referred to this book many times for its perspective. I have done charts for mothers who know nothing of astrology, and recommended this book as a companion. This is not a book that relies on generalizations, and the reader will have to either have a chart to refer to or have someone prepare an explanation of which planet and placements to look up in the book, which is what I do when I recommend the book. However, with that caveat, the book is a must for any parent who seeks insight into a child (and for any adult who seeks a psychological insight into his/herself). ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Book for the Layperson
I found this book to be a fantastic resource for someone such as myself who does not know the technical side of astrological aspects, or how to read the symbols in an astrological chart. When I read: "Composite Moon Trine Composite Jupiter" I didn't have a clue as to what that meant, UNTIL I was able to read what this configuration is all about in the easy-to-understand explanations given in this wonderful book.
As astrological aspects in composite charts are important when entering into any type of relationship, be it romantic, business, family, etc., this book is a great help to see how two people will interact with each other on many levels.
I can tell you that the composite chart interpretations I was given in this book were all astoundingly accurate. This is a great tribute to the exhaustive knowledge, research, and care that went into this book. Highly recommended!

5-0 out of 5 stars A good resource book to own
Robert Hand wrote this book back in the 1970s. At that time, composite charts were new to America and to most of the Western world. Although John Townley is the person who is actually credited with bringing the technique to our shores, both Townley and Hand (who have also written the introductions for each other's groundbreaking texts) have pretty much structured the foundation of our contemporary knowledge on the subject. But there are differences to be noted in Hand and Townley's approach.

The most important distinction for me is that Hand describes a pretty unique method of using what's known as the "150 degree rule" for estimating composite midpoints for planets that are approaching a perfect opposition. Although many astrologers use the "150 degree rule" to correct errors that frequently arise in computer generated charts in which calculations yield such impossibilities as say Mercury and Venus oppositions, Hand alone tackles this problem for the other remaining personal planets that can appear as oppositions when you might want to consider them conjunctions. Hand suggests "if the planets in the two natal charts are more than 150 degrees apart, you should use both midpoints" (p 32) in your analysis. The reason for this is that "the two midpoints are nearly equal in strength." (12) This means you will treat the two planets more like an axis than a specific point, which is similar to the way in which we interpret the moon's nodes. This technique, which Hand explores with far greater depth than I can in this review, appears to be unique to Robert Hand. He uses it in his chart interpretations for the cases of Fred and Mary, and Freud and Jung, which are located in the chapter entitled "Case Studies." Townley and other astrologers that I've read do not seem to employ this technique in their calculations for planets that come after Mercury and Venus, or for opposing Suns and Moons. For this reason, I would suggest this book as an important addition to your astrology library, because it contains a few pieces of information that is not as widely quoted as his more commonly known interpretations.

I have practiced astrology for over 25 years, and read Hand for the first time, in 1981. I have experimented with many of his concepts and find his synopsis of configurations to be quite insightful and valid. Some math skills will be needed, if you erect a chart by hand. Otherwise, astrology software may be useful for beginners who do not want to erect a chart manually. Many programs are free of charge and can be downloaded at such sites as zdnet or tucows; just type "astrology" in their search engines.

Although many excerpts from Hand's book have been quoted on various astrology websites, this fact does not appreciably detract from the overall usefulness of this book. However, it is worth noting that Hand states in his introduction to John Townley's revised edition of "The Composite Chart" (which was first printed in 1974, revised, and again published in 2000) that he changed his initial method of computing composite house cusps by location to the method that John Townley uses in his newly revised book; which is the midpoint composite house method. Taking that in stride, I think you'll be happy to own this book because not only was it one of the founding texts on the subject but its cookbook interpretations are very useful to beginners. Both Townley and Hand's explanations work well together, and they both offer their own unique depth and clarity on the topic of composite charts. You may be able to find many quotes from both Townley and Hand's texts on astrology websites, but sometimes it's nice to have the book too.

3-0 out of 5 stars Much of this info is available Free online
I was a bit dissappointed to find that most of the information given regarding the composite planets in houses, and aspects I have already found for free on a certain website. Word for word! I had expectations of deeper meanings and explainations, I'm glad I bought a used copy. Considering it was written in 1975, this is basic cookbook style astrology, without much emphasis on soul growth or the "why" we get into certain relationships. Not completly unworthy of checking out though.

5-0 out of 5 stars Planets in Composite
With the exception of Marc Robertson, Robert Hand is the finest Astrologer I've had the privilege to read so far. He uses common sense compiled with the knowledge of Eastern/Western beliefs. His mid-point work and analysis is not only down to earth but very accurate. He includes variables, too, that are exciting to research on your own. His work is something you don't want to put down because you are bored or not getting any satisfaction. When people ask how I understand so much, I tell them. I've been an Astrologer for over 30 years so I know what I'm talking about.

    Book Description

Centuries ago, a king wouldn't think of going to war without first consulting the planets. A physician, upon hearing that a patient had fallen ill, would immediately check the placement of the planets to diagnose the disease and decide how best to treat it.

Nowadays, people tend to identify with their zodiac sign rather than with their Planet. Each of us is born under a specific Ruling Planet. Your Ruling Planet is your celestial guide, helping you to navigate your way through life and relationships. Unlike zodiac signs, which are static, planets are in constant motion, changing as you change. Here is the first book to draw on this older and more illuminating tradition. In Ruling Planets Christopher Renstrom shows you how your Ruling Planet plays a collaborative role in nearly every decision you make. It's this active partnership between person and Planet that is missing from today's astrology books.

The book is divided into four parts. Part I contains the tables you'll need to find your Ruling Planet. All you have to know is the day and year you were born. In Part II, you learn about your Planet's characteristics, temperament, and outlook and how you are, in effect, a "Child" of this Planet. Because not everyone was born at the same time, the zodiac sign that your Ruling Planet was in on your birthday will color certain traits. Part III presents a detailed and personalized view of you, along with favorable-and not so favorable -- times of year. Part IV examines how a Child of one Ruling Planet gets along with a Child of another. These entertaining and thought-provoking insights cover the relationship gamut, from love interests to parents to children to colleagues. Want to know if a relationship has romantic possibilities or if you should just be friends? Check and see which Ruling Planets are involved. What do you do if you got off on the wrong foot with your new boss? A quick glance at his or her Ruling Planet can show you how to finesse a setback into an advance. Ruling Planets will give you a fresh and relevant way of looking at the cosmos and your life.

Lushly illustrated with full-color art and photos throughout, Ruling Planets also presents a visual tour that winds its way through myth, history, and popular culture. You'll see your Planet's influence in everything from church frescoes to ad campaigns. You'll also meet some famous (and even infamous) Children of your Planet who will make you question familiar assumptions while expanding your point of view.

Whether you are a die-hard astrology fan or an inquisitive skeptic, Ruling Planets will tickle your curiosity and intrigue your imagination. You will return to it again and again, gleaning new information each time.

5-0 out of 5 stars Bravo, Mr. Renstrom! This is truly an incredible book.
More than just a fresh approach to astrology, RULING PLANETS conveys a fresh approach to life that is wise, uplifting, down-to-earth, and often witty. This guy knows his stuff. And he has taste to boot. Not only is Mr. Renstrom masterful in his knowledge of the planets, he's masterful with words. And he's gathered a winning team around him - producing a book with beautiful art, type and design that does justice to his exceptional text.

You can read this book at so many levels. Go to it for advice. Go to it to learn about astrology. Go to it for entertainment....Whatever your reason, you'll come away with practical, sage gems of wisdom and insight -- even if you're not the type to ever touch a a book filed under "spirituality."

Whether your a "believer" or a skeptic, it's more than obvious that this book's written by a man who understands the human experience, both in the context of history and today's world. And Mr. Renstrom definitely tells it like it is, without ever being preachy or formulaic.....RULING PLANETS is really a pleasure to read.

Much too simplistic and general. I felt like I was being conned. I'll take Liz Greene any day.

1-0 out of 5 stars Didn't work for me
This book didn't tell me anything I haven't already read in every other astrology book. From the beginning it explains how the ruling planets are not the same as zodiac signs. I saw no difference, only the titles have been altered. The author definitely put effort into this book, but the reason I didn't like it is because I don't agree with his definition of what my sign should be. As a Leo, supposedly all I do is go to parties and be the one in charge. And I'm hugely popular. Not.

5-0 out of 5 stars weighty volume of astrological knowledge
In this +600 pages volume the author describes the rulers of all sunsigns (called the ruling planets). In other words, this book is about rulerships. In different parts the author explains the different meanings of all sunsign rulers in combination with the sign they are placed in. In another part he goes even further, blending your own ruling planet with the ruling planet of a friend, a lover, your boss, etc... These planetary combinations in relationships are unique. This colourful and neat book is as well suited for beginners as for more experienced astrologers. ... Read more
