Arthur's book does an excellent job of providing an introduction to inductive study. I say introduction because this is not a long book and does not go into extensive detail on any one point. Listed below are some of the pros and cons I saw in this book: Pros: 2) The appendixes and examples given are very well thought out and helpful. I've no doubt I'll be referring to this in the future. 3) This book teaches you how to study the Bible for yourself. You are given all the tools necessary. The author is obviously not a fan of commentaries as a first stop in Bible study but she does recommend you refer to them after you have done your own investigation. Cons: 2) The constant referrals to other works by this author (In particular the New Inductive Study Bible) gets a little out of hand. After the first couple chapters I had had quite enough of the advertisements. Granted this was directing you to resources that could help but the repetition was very annoying. No doubt these are fine works. I was just tired of hearing about them..... All in all I would recommend this book to anyone looking for a more in-depth Bible study.
Among the many points covered in the book include: 1. Basic principles of observation, interpretation, and application. All in all, an excellent supplement for helping you learn more about the Bible! Read and enjoy!

There's also a beautiful coffee table version of this book, re-edited for crisper text and illustrated by Timothy Botts. If it's still in print, it's worth seeking out.
This study takes you through, not only the names that God has been given by Himself and others, but WHY those particular names are used. Kay Arthur's books do not just tell you why, she has questions that are designed for you to go and learn for yourself. This is a great study method for both individual and group study. This way the knowledge actually becomes part of you. For the beginning Christian, this study helps you to learn more of God, His faithfulness, His characteristics, and such. This makes your personal relationship with Him all the richer. This also holds true for the more mature Christian. This is a study that does take some time, thought, research, and reading. But the most important part of this study (and any study that a Christian does) is prayer. Then you are inviting God to make Himself better known to you. This study does take a commitment of time and energy. If you are looking for a study that makes you dig into your Bible in a deeper manner, get this one. You will be richly rewarded for the effort that you put into it. By the time that you are prayerfully done, God will be even more personal to you. Christ's words of John 15:15, "...I call you friends." will be even more of a reality of your life with Him.

This book covers topics such as true love, husbands role, wife's role, the gift of sex, how trust happens, money, forgiveness, encouragement, divorce, seeing with Gods eyes, and many more. In conclusion I think this book is great for couples about to get married, newlyweds, or married in trouble marriage. After all, marriage is the highest step of maturity, and it shouldn't be taken lightly!

Book Description Reviews (21)
Easwaran has taken an ancient tale and translated it into more than just English; Rather, he's translated into our daily lives. For those who find religious traditions other than their own to be too foreign, this edition of the Gita, with commentary, opens up the tradition of Krishna to the West. This particular translation, however, doesn't focus heavily on Krishna, Arjuna, or the traditions of Hinduism. Instead, it paints a picture of a human being, like any of us, in a moral dilemna. Few of us have an advisor like Krishna to call upon, but we do have Easwaran.
Eknath Easwaran has succeeded in capturing the essence of life the Bhagavad Gita embraces and continues on to describe who we really are and where our strength lies.

This is a great book. As someone who is going through a job change, moving, and breaking free from a shame-based, hateful family, I am reading this book, and experiencing a serenity, through doing things, everyday, simple things, that don't cost much, that add value to my spirit. I am so excited, everyday to get up and read the day's lessonns, and to discover new joys in my heart. Others around me are catching on to my authentic self shining through. I am looking at this book, from this point as something that is helping me to bring out things in me, habits that enhance who I am, that I had given up on, prior to this book. Thank you so much, Sarah Ban Breathnach. I look forward to my journey.
If you're the type of person who has so much "stuff", and would feel incredibly guilty discarding this sutff, you will learn the three questions to ask yourself as whether to keep this item or not--without feeling guilty. This book also helps you understand how the simplist things in life can make you feel so good. You'll be glad you read this. ... Read more

Book Description In response, the great saint quickly set down - in language that non-scholars can understand - his peerless insights into the major topics of theology: the Trinity, Divine Providence, the Incarnation of Christ, the Last Judgment, and much more. Here, then, is not only St. Thomas's concise statement of the key elements of his thought, but a handy reference source for the essential truths of the Catholic Faith. Reviews (3)
Highly recommended ! Solid great book by St. Thomas Aquinas. Who can refute truth ?
This book was intended to be a literal "hand book," a one -volume summation of Aquinas' rather bulky Summa Theologica. It follows a deceptively simple format of three parts: Faith, Hope, and Charity. At first blush, this seems to roughly correspond to II-II of the Summa. However, Aquinas restated his arguments for God's existence, and covers in a nutshell the main points of the entire I-I and I-II of the Summa. It is a rare thing to find someone who can sum up a complex idea, or a string of complex ideas and concepts, but "The Dumb Ox" characteristically pulls it off. I wish more public speakers and politicians could develop this talent, since we get off on so many intellectual rabbit trails, and miss the great Yellow Brick Road. He does have a point to what he says, and he does stick on topic. Hence, his enduring power. The translation is an easy read, and nothing really spectacular jumps out pro or con. As is stated in the introduction, this translation was to be a crutch, and the true student is encouraged to go to the original Latin for any hair-splitting nuances and so forth. The standard numeration is followed, so we can easily compare the translations. I hate translators/publishers who play God and reinvent the wheel in these matters. I feel that this book should be used in conjunction with Kreeft's "Summa of the Summa." They are about the same size, but each book has its strengths and weaknesses. "The Shorter Summa" has the benefit of being Aquinas speaking for himself, and him telling you what he thinks is important, with the only disadvantage being that it is incomplete. The "Summa of the Summa" has the benefit of Kreeft's commentary and illustrations, and is (mostly) a good summery of Thomism, but it is Kreeft's-and I say this will an infinity of charity and respect for a great man-"spin" on Aquinas. So my advice is to split the difference and to get both books. The only real objection I have is that the picture of Aquinas is rather unusual. He looks like one of the extra-terrestrial "Greys" that Art Bell talks about. Aquinas is a genius, and a human computer, but he isn't a Vulcan, and he never made a crop circle. G. K. Chesterton speaks of a portrait of Aquinas with piercing eyes. The only clue we have is the starburst design, but it would be nice for a Chesterton scholar to try and track down this portrait, and start using it. Or at least stick with the traditional Medieval sketch that graces the covers of most of the current Aquinas Anthologies.

Book Description Reviews (335)
This book matches the intensity and excitment of the prior three installments, using the environment outlined in the Book of Revelations to tell the continuing story of Rayford Steele, Buck Williams and the rest of the Tribulation Force. Without giving anything away, this installment has enough twists and turns to keep the reader interested from start to finish. Oddly, being a Christian and knowing where all of this is going, does nothing to dull the excitement of following the story as it develops. The vivid writing of Lahaye and Jenkins makes it possible to visually put yourself into the scene and almost experience the subject matter firsthand. If you are a believer and have not read any of these books, you are not doing yourself justice. These are great writings and do a great job of bringing the Word of God to life in a new and vibrant manner.
This book begins during the 21st month (halfway through) Nicolae Carpathia's reign. We see the fulfillment of more prophecies as we travel to Iraq, Israel, America, and other world communities. Life is now comprised of living in underground shelters, evangelism through direct contact and web sites, finding enough to eat, clean water to drink, and other Christians with whom to work. As prophesized, Nicolae knows that his time to rule the world is half-over. His hunger to devour the souls of those still on earth is his driving force. The general populace still sees him as a benevolent ruler, but we see behind the scenes where murder and anger rule the man-the Antichrist. Lahaye and Jenkins show more character development than in previous books and the action is fast paced and demanding. Some familiar characters are dead, but new ones take prominence in The Tribulation Force. By this point in the series, I was completely hooked. I had a hard time putting the book down, especially since I knew I had seven more on the bookshelf. As soon as I finished this book, I grabbed the next one. Victoria Tarrani
One thing I didn't like about this book was that they made Amanda and Loretta die. Amanda died in a plane crash during the earthquake. Loretta had been leaving the church and her car flipped over on top of her. They were both one of my favorite people in this book. The worst part is that now they are making Amanda a possible bad person. They are saying she was a spy working for the Antichrist, Carpathia. Rayford and Mac find the airplane and get Amanda's laptop. The plane had landed in a river though so the computer is water-logged. They have another believer who is also a computer wiz try to find any information. They find some that may connect her to Carpathia. "The lists of encrypted files from Amanda's hard drive are evidence extensive correspondence between her and Nicolae Carpathia," (LaHaye, 422). My favorite part of this book was when Buck and Den dressed up as doctors. They were trying to get Chloe out of the hospital because Nicolae was trying to take her away. Ken was called Dr. Airplane because he is a pilot. "Excuse us Doctor, ah-'and Chloe says,' "Doctor Airplane"' I had to bite my tongue," (LaHaye, 265). It was funny because they made up a disease. They were trying to sound like they knew what they were talking about, but really they had no clue! This book is really about telling people that Gods loves you. The authors don't want anyone to live through this period of time. It is very devastating and dangerous. They want everyone to have the chance to accept Jesus as their Savior, so when the rapture does come you will go to heaven. I like this book and it has made me realize how important it really is to have a relationship with God. ... Read more

For anyone who works with groups of people (and especially youth) you will find this book to be a great addition to your library. I especially enjoyed the worksheets at the end of each chapter as they were tangible ways of putting theory into practice. This book is very easy to read, but as with most good books in this category, take notes or be willing to re-read chapters as there is almost too much good information. Most books offer nuggets--this one is a serious gold rush. The leadership team I work with spent two weeks on Chapter 3 (A person of influence has Faith in People). I thought this was one of the best chapters in any of Maxwell's books and this will become a permanent part of our leadership program. A great gift for graduating college students or folks newly elected to positions of leadership.

There are better books on the market, including one I just finished from a NDE survivor who educates without the confusion, and theres two chapters on technique that humans can understand! Psychic Gifts in the Christian life by Tiffany Snow. Other books you should look at is the (not kidding) "Idiot" series, which lay a good foundation for several disciplines, like "Meditation for Idiots" or "Psychic Awareness for Idiots," etc. The Power of Coincidence is a bit flat. You expect an author to generate a shift in consciousness, and excitment and method of beneficial change. This book didn't do it. I hope his next one is better. I see him on TV, etc, and I know he's getting better at marketing, but what about the writing? Maybe he's just too busy now for us regular people. Where is the old Chopra I knew? I want him back!
If you are concerned of Deepok's book being too dry, buy the "Celestine" first. If it sparks an interest, then go on to buy Deepok's for a deeper and more complete understanding of the why's, mechanics and science behind coincidences.
As I first read the book, and was blown away by how perfectly it filled in the gaps in the picture of life that was forming within me, I also realized "this book isn't for everybody". Read the other reviews and follow your instincts. If it sounds like something that you've been searching for but haven't been able to find ... then I think you'll be delightfully pleased. If it sounds like smoke and mirrors to you, then look for something else. If you're in the mood for an apple, why eat an orange and blame the orange when you're done?
