5-0 out of 5 stars Definitely the book to have on Chakras
I had been looking for awhile for a good book on Chakras that was straightforward and easy to undertsand. There are so many books on Chakras and many of them (at least the ones I found) went way too deep too fast and lost me. I needed a book that went Chakra by Chakra, explaining what each represents and providing some exercises to work them. This book was perfect! Each chakra chapter starts out with a one-pager with words that help explain that chakra (e.g. 1st Chakra - earth, roots, grounding, survival, body, food, beginning, etc). Then there is a meditation. Then there is text that walks through each type of description (e.g. "grounding"). Judith connects the concepts to the body and explains how its all connected. There are yoga exercises as well as recommended reading of other books to learn more about each Chakra. Excelent book - It really lays things out in a simple way that is straightforward and unmuddied. Lots of hand drawings throughout as well as some great quotes to ponder. Gods and Godesses are also mentioned in the text which is great. Excellent book!

5-0 out of 5 stars THE chakra book!
Anodea does it again. This is THE chakra manual. It is a helpful text for professional body/energy workers, and clear enough to understand for those who are new to the chakra concepts. Each of the 7 chakras are explained in detail, both historically and from a western viewpoint. Along with exercises that one can do to enhance the health of each chakra. A MUST for anyone interested in the chakra system.

5-0 out of 5 stars Easy to read and Understand
This book by Anodea Judith is an excellent study into the realm of the energy centers of the body, known as chakras. All aspects of each of the seven major chakras are covered is an easy to read and understand format. Readers new to the subject of chakras can find a good solid base of understanding in the pages of Wheels of Life, while long-time students of the chakras will find new insight and a fresh look at old friends. Great book! Way to go, Anodea!

4-0 out of 5 stars Great Chakra Resource Guide
This book is a very good book to help you understand what there is to know about your chakra's. If they got rid of the section on witchcraft, and wrote the book as a scientist instead of a New-Ager then it would have gotten 5 stars from me.

4-0 out of 5 stars Large Collection Of Information, Theories & Exercises
This book has a lot of ideas about chakras and some practical exercises, although in containing ideas collected from a variety of sources it includes some misleading statements and false assumptions, which the reader will have to discern through their own experience and research. This is a nice book for a reference collection or for those seeking a thorough overview of chakras and the metaphysical traditions associated with them. The author is enthusiastic about the subject matter, and tends to be open to a wide range of ideas about chakras, though she does not claim to have an authoritative understanding of chakras and metaphysics. There are many books available about chakras, and this is a fairly good one, since it exposes the reader to a wealth of information and ideas rather than a single narrow viewpoint or dogmatic teaching. ... Book Description

In EASTERN BODY, WESTERN MIND, chakra authority Anodea Judith brought a fresh approach to the yoga-based Eastern chakra system, adapting it to the Western framework of Jungian psychology, somatic therapy, childhood developmental theory, and metaphysics. This groundbreaking work in transpersonal psychology has been revised and redesigned for a more accessible presentation. Arranged schematically, the book uses the inherent structure of the chakra system as a map upon which to chart our Western understanding of individual development. Each chapter focuses on a single chakra, starting with a description of its characteristics, then exploring its particular childhood developmental patterns, traumas and abuses, and how to heal and maintain balance. Illuminated with personal anecdotes and case studies, EASTERN BODY, WESTERN MIND seamlessly merges the East and West, science and philosophy, and psychology and spirituality into a compelling interpretation of the chakra system and its relevance for Westerners today. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars excellent manual about chakras
This book helped me a lot. After reading it my chakra knowledge expanded so much that now I can explain chakras easily to everyone
and also apply it in Reiki healing.

5-0 out of 5 stars In-depth yet readable
I love how easy this book is to read. It reads as easily as a novel, yet contains a wealth of information about human growth and development as it pertains to the chakra system. I highly recommend it!

5-0 out of 5 stars A map of the human psyche
I loved this book - I found so much of myself in it, it was scary! I really think she has found a way to map the human spirit - and gives gentle encouragement and exercises to assist in healing any parts that have been blocked or damaged. Anyone who is even mildly interested in the Chakras (or even looking to deepen a yoga experience) should consider this book.

5-0 out of 5 stars One of the best, most comprehensive books on this subject!
I would recommend this,"Hands of Light" by Barbara Brennan, and "Energy Medicine" by Donna Eden as the best books for those interested in managing their energy. All three give concrete examples of causes of dis-ease and ways to reverse damage to our energy systems. In Anodea's book, she gives physical, mental, and spiritual exercises to work on and she makes the information easy to understand!

5-0 out of 5 stars Inspired Work and Play with Chakras
David Pond's book is an inspired text with highly practical information. Just like his other book "The Metaphysical Handbook", he provides the reader with rich information on the history and background of chakras while making this ancient healing system apply directly to the current cultural climate. He guides the reader playfully and honestly through each chapter in the ascending order of the chakras so the reader can build up with useful exercises and hands on material. I have studied chakras for many years in my work with clients in the health care field as a bodyworker and educator and found that David's book to be very accessible and a pleasure to use personally. I have numerous clients who have used the techniques in the book as well and report positive results. For anyone interested in working with yoga, energy systems or just want to feel better this is a must read!

5-0 out of 5 stars Great journey through the Energy Centers
I really enjoyed this book. The author, David Pond, clearly knows his subject and with ease takes you on a journey through each chakra. As well as giving the traditional vital statistics for each, he augments this information with psychological, emotional, and intuitive perspectives. Accompanying each section are exercises and meditations for nourishing and balancing these energy centers. This book is well integrated, clear, and elicits a strong sense of how important self knowledge of the chakras is to our individual vitality, our society, and our planet as a whole. I thoroughly enjoyed the essays towards the end of the book. These tied it all together and gave perspectives on how chakra energy is utilized at every moment of every day, at every level of our being. This book made the chakras come alive for me. They are no longer just a great metaphysical idea, but an integral element of our process of being. Thank you, David. Good work.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great introduction to Chakras
Well written and thorough, this book gives a good introduction to the chakras. For each he lists the core issue and drive. What would have been great is if he could list what physical ailments arise when a particular chakra is out of balance.

Overall a great introduction.

5-0 out of 5 stars Chakras for Beginners
David Pond says that "understanding the chakras is one of the most effective means of accessing the various levels of consciousness available to you." In Chakras for Beginners: A Guide to Balancing Your Chakra Energies, he describes the chakras and what it takes to keep them functioning properly.

Chakras are energy centers. Pond calls them the "batteries for the various levels of your life energy." Their source is the universal life force. Of the many chakras we each have, seven are considered as primary. These seven are in a straight line along the length of the spine. Any blocks or imbalances in the chakras can result in disease or emotional difficulties.

After discussing chakras in general, Pond devotes a chapter to each of the seven primary energy centers. He first describes the "drive" or purpose of each chakra. For example, the first chakra is concerned with survival, while the fourth chakra deals with the quest for love. He then discusses all the ways in which the chakra can be out of balance, including problems related to too much energy as well as difficulties stemming from too little energy. After explaining how to balance the chakra, Pond discusses how to keep it in balance.

Each chapter includes exercises designed to balance and maintain the individual chakras. He finishes with a section on special tips and techniques for activating the chakras. He also explains how colors and crystals can affect the chakras.

The last part of the book is a collection of essays about chakras. In those, he discusses subjects like kundalini, spirituality, and transmuting negative energy into a positive force. He also includes several meditations.

Pond's intention with Chakras for Beginners is to help people acquaint themselves "with the chakra system, how it works, and how it should operate optimally." Readers will find that he has provided all the information they need for understanding how to keep their chakras free of blockages or imbalances.

5-0 out of 5 stars perfect intro for Type A males
A fascinating aspect of this book is that David Pond's perspective comes from an atypical 'type a' perspective. He describes his life, then talks about how it changed as he identified more personal awareness.

The best part of this approach is it does not sound too 'Shirley McLaine.' It comes across as honest, methodical and testable. This metaphysical book sets a standard for clarity. ... Read more

Book Description

Understanding chakras is an effective first step in harnessing every human being's hidden life-changing energies and employing inner powers for spiritual and physical healing. The word chakra originated with the Vedic teachings of ancient India. It comes from the Sanskrit word for "wheel of light," and denotes the energy centers that exist in every man and woman. The Book of Chakras explores the nature of these energy sources, explains where they dwell in each of us, and instructs on how to use them. The author identifies seven energy centers in the human body. The Root Chakra, located in the lower torso, anchors us in life. From that point on the rising ladder of love and healing, we become aware of the Sacral Chakra, the Solar Plexus Chakra, the Heart Chakra, the Throat Chakra, the Brow or Third Eye Chakra, and the Crown Chakra. The last, the Crown Chakra, located in the head, is the most refined and spiritual center in the human energy system. Chakra teachings describe seven bodies that make up every person's aura. They are the Physical, Etheric, Astral, Mental, Divine, Spiritual, and Soul bodies. Chakra teachings say that each of these bodies vibrates in ways that are allied to the colors of the universe. However, only one of these bodies, the Physical, is visible. When we understand these bodies in detail, we become able to correct chakra imbalances and harness our powers for peaceful and productive living. The author advises on ways of restoring balances, healing through the power of thought, and employing colors, sounds, crystals, acupuncture, and other means. More than 300 color illustrations. ... 4-0 out of 5 stars Solid basic introduction to Chakras.
Having read quite a few books on Chakras I would have to say that this is a really good book for learning the basics of the Chakra system and how it applies to you. It is definitely the most colourfully illustrated book on Chakras out there, but there are better ones that go allot deeper into how Chakras work and how to work with them.

4-0 out of 5 stars Aesthetically appealing and general introduction to Chakras

As someone who knew nothing about Chakras prior to reading this book, I found it to be an easy-to-read, general introduction.

The most striking thing about the books is its aesthetic appeal, which is refreshing, - and appropriate considering it's mandate to impact us spiritually. Its pages are large, thick and colorful and the material is an interweaving of photos, diagrams and artistically presented text. I point this out because it is such a striking contrast to most books these days, crammed with small, nondescript black and white text on cheap paper. I actually found that I enjoyed just holding the book and flipping through it to soak in the visual aspect.

As for the content, as a beginner I can't speak to it's accuracy but it struck me as a light, easy-to-read and apply overview for the spiritual seeker who is knew to the concept of energy centers in the body. The author stays away from religious discussions and instead provides basic, and somewhat generic information on each of the 7 main Chakras. For each Chakra the author provides affirmations, a meditation and a questionnaire (which sounds hokey, but which I actually found quite useful).

My biggest gripe is that not enough instruction or suggestion was given regarding how to apply this information to my life. Should I meditate on only one Chakra at a time? How long should I meditate on a particular Chakra? Am I supposed to "feel" something and if so, how long does it take? What should I do next?

Also, the author provided a variety of informational tidbits (neatly organized) about each Chakra such as the color, shape, crystal, musical note, astrological sign, internal organ, positive and negative archetypes, etc. associated with each Chakra, but almost no explanation as to why these particular attributes were assigned to particular Chakras. Consequently I got the impression that some of the information was cheesy and a bit new-agey for my tastes.

Overall, I found that for me the books main value was in setting up a mental construct that I could use to evaluate my life and spirituality rather than in providing significantly detailed information to really understand what Chakras are and how to use them.

Book Description

This book can be used by both beginning students who want to learn about the theory and practice of meditation as well as by individuals who have had experience with meditation and breathing techniques and would like to refine or deepen their practice.

· People with specific physical illnesses or mental health concerns can also use this book if they are interested in using meditation and breathing techniques as part of their treatment plan.

· There is an overview of the goals of meditation. We explore the question of why we practice meditation, and look at what it means to attain expanded states of consciousness.

· Different forms of meditation are described from both Eastern and Western perspectives.

· Misconceptions about meditation are clarified, and there is a discussion of the differences between meditation and concentration, contemplation, and prayer. We explore emotional, psychological, and spiritual benefits of meditation as well as the similarities between meditation and psychotherapy.

· Personal qualities that we must cultivate to begin the process of meditation and to sustain an ongoing practice are detailed, including openness, curiosity, effort, persistence, simplicity, tranquility, and mindfulness.

· We discuss the importance of applying the principles and approaches of meditation to daily activity.

· We explore medical research on the benefits of meditation in such areas as decreasing levels of hormones related to the stress response, controlling high blood pressure, and helping depression, anxiety, and obsessive-compulsive disorder. The mechanism of the stress response is outlined, followed by a detailed description of how meditation and breathing techniques help us better control the autonomic nervous system and other brain functions.

Another section in the book deals with the underlying concepts of the philosophical systems Tantra, Samkhya, and Vedanta. These great schools of thought form the theoretical basis and provide the actual techniques for the type of meditation presented in this book.

· The five components of the mind that are presented are thoughts, the sensory-integration component, the sense of self, decision making, and memory. These aspects of the mind are all strengthened by the practice of meditation.

· The system of raja yoga is described in detail because the form of meditation presented in this book closely follows the eight steps on this path. This includes five restraints on behavior and five observances to prepare us mentally for meditation, the postures and practices of hatha yoga, breathing exercises, withdrawal of the senses to deeper states of awareness, concentration techniques, sustained concentration (the actual definition of meditation), and absorption with the highest states of consciousness.

· In order to deepen meditation, we must have an object on which to concentrate. These objects, which need to have the inherent ability to guide the practitioner to expanded levels of awareness, are generally chakras (energy centers in the body), mantras (subtle inner vibrations), yantras (geometric shapes that reflect a condensation of the seen and unseen universe), and the breath (control of energy or prana within the body). Several sections in this book focus on these powerful objects of concentration. Since the form of meditation presented in this book uses concentration techniques focused on the chakras, a detailed, colored image of the chakras appears on the front cover of this book.

· Later in this book we focus on the techniques used to prepare the body, breath, and mind for meditation. We analyze the relationship between hatha yoga and meditation. Hatha yoga postures are useful not only to improve flexibility, but also to strengthen the spine so the practitioner can sit for longer meditations.

· In the next chapter, there are descriptions of several sitting postures used during meditation. Breathing techniques (pranayama) are discussed in detail because these breathing exercises have many important functions in the process of meditation. They have positive effects on the body and mind, helping such health related concerns as sinus problems, hypertension, thyroid disease, and anxiety. Pranayama also is very important in helping to focus the mind for deeper meditation, and there are specific techniques that help to activate latent energy in the body (kundalini).

· The following chapter explores the idea of kundalini, or latent energy that is stored in the first chakra, located in the lowest part of the spine. This primal force is activated and moved upwards to the higher chakras during meditation, and as it moves through the seven major chakras, physical, psychological, and spiritual transformations occur.

The final part of the book describes the preparations necessary to begin a meditation practice as well as the specific meditation technique itself.

· The actual meditation technique is divided into several phases so that readers can systematically and slowly develop their own practice at their own speed. It is designed so that a person can choose to practice simple diaphragmatic breathing and breath awareness to relax and focus his/her thoughts. The reader can also choose the greater complexity of using mantras and concentrating on moving energy through the chakras with the goal of experiencing more expanded states of consciousness.

· The final chapter briefly describes meditation techniques that can be practiced by more advanced students who are working closely with an experienced teacher.

Audio CDs that systematically lead the practitioner through the various phases of the meditation described in this book are also available. They can be used in conjunction with and also separately without reference to the book. World famous drummer Muruga Booker accompanies Dr. Chernin in the tracks that prepare the student for meditation. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars A Great Guide for Beginning or Advanced Meditation Students
I had always wanted to know how to meditate. I remember when I was younger, I would sit in my room and try to be at peace, but I just couldn't do it for very long, because I never felt as if I had anything to concentrate on -- my mind would always drift on to something else. Thus, I began to wonder if I would have a reason to continue meditating, as I never had any experiences of inner peace or any of that. Then, a few years ago I was sitting in a chair, moreso because I just wanted to relax than anything else. The room was slightly warm, and suddenly I just felt spontaneously happy -- not the kind of happy like getting a new gift or a large sum of money, it was as if I was ecstatic just being alive. Later, upon reading this book, I found out that, "The quality of joy arising during meditation and providing inspiration for continued practice is unlike the temporary pleasurable feelings that come from having a desire satisfied. Joy arising from meditation is different from the experience of simple pleasure because it arises from feelings of unification of our own body, heart, mind, and consciousness with universal forces greater than ourselves" (pgs 38-39).

Since that experienced opened my eyes to the power of meditation, I have since tried to learn as much about the theory and practice of meditation as I could. As I said before, one of the main problems I had with meditating on my own was that I never felt as if I could sustain a deep meditative state without having something to take my mind off of my everyday problems.

This book solved that problem in a big way. First, I had heard about the chakras before, and I understood that it was necessary to raise your "life energy" (whatever you want to call it) up through your "root chakra" and try to get it to the top chakra "crown chakra". However, I never really understood HOW to do that...until I got this book, that is. Basically, the main thing that I was missing was that you needed to focus on each chakra individually, thus activating the energy within it. As this book says, "As the energy rises through the chakras, each center is activated and the physical, mental, and spiritual qualities of each chakra are experienced" (pg 122). This helped me understand a lot about life, such as how some people can be very creative (they've activated the fifth chakra), or loving (fourth chakra).

This book also gets into some yoga postures, but unfortunately, doesn't describe the steps that go into achieving the pose that the model in the book does. Frankly, if you try to do some of the postures in the book (such as "The Plow", "The Bridge" or "The Spinal Twist", to pick a few) without a good step by step guide you may end up hurting yourself. The same is true for the Kriyas (cleansings), which are described on page 109.

The part of this book that I used the most were probably the two CD's that came with it. Yes, the same meditations are described in detail in the book, but if you are meditating, do you really want to keep opening your eyes to read what the next step is? Therefore, I have found that listening to the authors' voice on the two CD's that are provided greatly enhanced the speed in which I was able to learn the particular meditation. If you don't feel any benefits from this, it's important to be patient, as the book states, "Patience is vital on the path of meditation. There are moments when a person feels like nothing is happening in spite of regular or intense meditative practices. Discouragement is quite common and progress is often slow" (pg 38).

Another chapter that I liked was the chapter dealing with meditation and health. Many people who don't meditate seem to think that it is somehow "New Age" -- even though, as the author states on the back cover of this book, these practices have been "...handed down from teacher to student for thousands of years." Thus, many people don't believe that it actually works (the Holistic Healer episode on the popular TV show "Seinfeld" emphasizes this point). However, if people can understand that meditation (and yoga) are actually good for the body, then they may take it more seriously.

Overall, this book achieved for me what the author set out for it to do, when he said that he hoped readers would "find this information useful in helping to understand the theory and principles of meditation and as a systematic guide to establishing a consistent and deep meditation practice" (pg 11). Without this book, I would still be unable to concentrate long enough to get anything out of meditation, nor would I have understood what I was even meditating for. Now I know, and it has allowed me to live a more peaceful and compassionate life.

For readers who seek a straightforward guidebook on learning about the chakra system and how to keep it healthy, this is an excellent resource. Virtue, who is a bestselling author (Messages From Your Angels, Healing With the Angels) and clairvoyant doctor of psychology, identifies the placements and functions of these "energy centers" in the body. She then teaches readers how to keep these chakras clear and clean, leading to greater health and energy.

The chakras themselves are a beautiful progression of shifting colors, starting with the red root chakra at the base of the spine and moving up the body, shade-by-shade, and ending with the royal purple "crown" chakra at the top of the head. Each chakra interacts with a person's issues and concerns in the world. For instance, the root chakra relates to basic survival, such as money, shelter, and material needs, according to Virtue. If a person feels stable in this arena, the "root chakra looks like a brilliant ruby held under a spotlight," she explains. However, if people feel fearful about money or become overly obsessed with their career or possessions, this chakra will be come "dirty" and have a muddy, dark red color.

Virtue offers an extensive assortment of original, guided meditations that are effective in cleaning and clearing all the chakras. The information is well organized and clearly presented with a corresponding CD to help readers integrate the meditations into daily life. She also touches upon other cleaning tools, such as what foods and crystals support the chakra system. Advanced energy workers may find this material basic, but beginners should find it an outstanding primer. --Gail Hudson ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Clear Away Negative Energy
Your thoughts control the energy flow within and around you. Whatever you think about determines how you feel and what you experience. ~Doreen Virtue

Not so long ago, I found a Yoga workout with a "Chakra" segment. Never in my life had I felt so free from emotional pain and so completely happy for no reason. Simply by imagining colors in various sections of your body, you can achieve a sense of inner calm and clear negative energy. It sounds too good to be true until you try it.

Doreen Virtue has created a healing CD to erase pain and negative thought patterns. While struggling with your thoughts can at times increase the pain, relaxing into your "power" helps you to release what is beyond your control. This is not about giving up, it is about acquiring a powerful new perspective. Once you have been released from disempowering thoughts and obsessive thoughts you can again think clearly in a healed environment.

Chapters:

The Functions of Your Chakras

Meditations to Clear Your Chakras
Visualizations to Clear Your Chakras
Angel Therapy to Clear Your Chakras
Additional Methods to Clear Your Chakras
Chakra and Aura Scanning
Clearing the Way

I find Chakra clearing to be most effective after a Yoga workout that focuses on flexibility and relaxation. If the total liberation from suffering is enlightenment, you might very well feel enlightened after clearing your Chakras.

The only aspect of this program that I was a bit tentative about was the "inviting angels into your body" to clear the charkas. This program is still effective without the help of angels.

The section on "Etheric Cords" was simply fascinating and she is correct that they are like surgical tubing and you can literally feel the thickness and density of the tubing. I was amazed at how this helped me to see who I am really "attached" to emotionally. Some of the cords were so thick they were more like steel and some almost refused to be cut. You have to read chapter four in order to find the instructions. I was able to cut some cords that have been draining my energy and while it might be psychological, it works. It is a visual way to remind yourself of your commitment to not let people drain you of your energy.

Doreen explores the effects of various foods and beverages that positively affect the Chakras and shows how exercise is also essential. She also explains how yoga and tai chi movements increase the flow of life-force through your charkas. After reading this book, massage, flower essences and sea salt baths take on a new meaning.

I'd recommend that you listen to the CD before reading the book. Not only because some of the information will then make more sense and you will be pretty amazed by a few aspects of the Chakra clearing session.

4-0 out of 5 stars A CD and Book to Clear Negative Energy

3-0 out of 5 stars Yes and no
Pleasant book, very easy read, with a few basic exercises for working with chakras. If you're looking for more in-depth information, try another book or search the web. Note: if you're not a Christian, you may want to seek another book, as the author relies heavily on a Judeo-Christian cosmology with God and angels; this makes it less accessible to some of us, even when we substitute our own beliefs in written or spoken word. (More difficult when you're working through the audio CD and the author mentions God.) This is said without disrespect to anyone; we're not all the same, and we're not all comfortable with Christianity. The author seems like a loving, centered person, and that's worthy of respect.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great primer
This book is filled with easy to understand information. The reader receives a complete understanding of the Chakra system along with many wonderful meditations to cleanse them. The accompanying CD is a beautiful, relaxing and mystical experience that will fill you and your life with love. Doreen's voice is soothing, the music comforting. I look forward to waking up and going to bed each day just so I can revel in the experience of this CD once more! ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Super guide to the Chakras!
I was looking for an easy to ready book on the chakras and came across this one. This one really demystified it all for me - very to the point, easy to understand. There is one chapter on each chakra and in each chapter there is a discussion of what the chakra representes, a question section to see how balanced that particular chakra is for you, and exercises to either reinforce or rebalance that particular chakra. Nice booklist at the end too.

4-0 out of 5 stars Really four and a half stars...
This is a fantastic book, both for those who are conscious of their chakras and for those who are unfamiliar with energy work. Choquette lays everything out in a simple, gentle, yet very thorough way that is a pleasure to read and absorb. She writes as if she is a kind friend, speaking with each person individually. If you are looking for a more serious, in-depth work, I recommend Caroline Myss' "Anatomy of the Spirit". If you want to learn more about the chakra system, how it affects you, and how you can effect positive change and achieve more spiritual balance without getting a degree in theology or spirituality, then this is an excellent book.

4-0 out of 5 stars Great book with tons of ways to balance oneself
The first thing that caught my eye about this book was the title. True balance-I had lost my balance literally a year back and every since then have been plagued by leg problems.
This book helped me realize I had been missing the warning signs of an unbalanced first chakra. I could probably have prevented my injury if I hadn't been so mule headed and had had this book earlier. Sonia's tips and suggestions on how to get in touch with my first chakra are easy things to do, there's nothing so hard that I can't incorporate it into every day living. The check list on each chakra really can help tell where one stands on each chakra. Thanks to her book I've spotted a problem with my throat chakra (the chakra center that deals with speaking and communication) before it became a big problem like my root chakra (heck, I quess I'm learning!). This is a neat book with tons of ways to balance each chakra and her Psychic Pathway book is just as good.

5-0 out of 5 stars Finally!--Common Sense Spirituality
Sonia does a fantastic job of distilling the essences of chakra energy in a simple, down-to-earth way that can be put into practice almost immediately. Oher books that I have read have made our spiritual anatomy seem so complex to the point of being incomprehensible and certainly not practical. I've also ordered the audio cassette version and have listened to it many times.

3-0 out of 5 stars If you aren't a New Ager, this might not be the book for you
I felt I had to review this book since the few reviews here are so overwhelmingly positive.

The bottom-line on this book is - if you can get past the "chakra" stuff (I just don't know whether I believe in it or not)there are actually some good insights here and some helpful advice. The author does write in an approachable method, even for those of us who aren't New Age-devotees. Some of her suggestions for rebalancing certain areas of your life are very doable. However, some of her references to dance and other types of "feel good" therapies might be a little much for the average person. If you think you might not be able to deal with the numerous New Age references, then this book isn't for you.

In all fairness, I am not an avid reader of New Age books. Perhaps that's why I have a little trouble with this book. I've picked it up to read it a couple times but haven't really been able to get into it because you really need to buy in to her New Age philosophy of life. Each time I pick it up, though, I get a bit farther and the value of the book is becoming more apparent to me. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars A good first read on the spiritual topic of the chakras.
This book is important as a Western account of what is essentially an Eastern concept. The chakras are very important energy centres in humans, and are used in meditation and in cognition of the inner worlds. Leadbeater's book is fairly easy to read, and has really good colour illustrations which have since been often quoted and reproduced many times over the last 70 years. This book was written in the 1920s when the subject was little known in the Western world. Much of the material was obviously obtained from Hinduism, as the chakras are easy to see illustrated in temples in India. I must say I prefer Dr Hiroshi Motoyama's more comprehensive and recent book, but Leadbeater really did pave the way with this one. I recommend it and give it five stars in the historical and useful context. It's a great introduction to the subject.

When all the seven Chakras are active and functioning optimally, we live a life of physical, mental, and spiritual health.Healing Chakra is a training system designed to activate, cleanse, and integrate the individual Chakras in order to create a harmonious and holistic Chakra System.

There are several factors that separate this book from other Chakra-related books. One, the healing principles behind Healing Chakra is derived from "The Heavenly Code," the 10,000-year-old sacred text of Korean-Asian tradition ?within its short 81-letter text, "The Heavenly Code" summarizes the eternal, universal truths about life, death, evolution, and completion. Two, Healing Chakra is the modernized version of the equally ancient system of body-mind-spirit discipline of Shin Sun Do (Way of the Divine).

Healing Chakra Training Booklet & CD will be an important tool for you as you begin the actual training. The CD consists of energy sensitizing and activating exercises for each Chakras, with recordings of live music as performed by the author himself, using only natural sounding instruments such as the flute, rain stick, Indian drums, and vibraphone, among others.Everyday Healing Chakra Booklet combines visual cues tuned to the characteristic color of each Chakra with gentle narration to provide you with an optimal training session to fit into the busy modern life.

Book Description

This fascinating book by psychologist and medical anthropologist Alberto Villoldo, Ph.D., explains the practices for healing outside of ordinary time and space. It shows how to enter the timeless now to heal events that occurred in the past, and to correct the course of destiny. Dr. Villoldo discusses ways in which you can heal yourself and your loved ones by employing intention through practices used by shamans of the Americas—which, until now, have been inaccessible to most of the world. The shamans of old called this journeying.

In this book, you’ll discover that you have a four-chambered heart in the same way you have a four-chambered soul. In the first chamber, you store away the memory of a wound that derailed your destiny. In the second, you keep the limiting beliefs and soul contracts that you entered into at the time of your loss. In the third, you recover the grace and trust that will make you whole again; and in the fourth, you remember the calling and mission that you choose to unfold in this lifetime.

"While everyone has a future," Villoldo says, "only certain people have a destiny." This book shows you how to find and manifest yours. ... Read more

2-0 out of 5 stars Much better books out there
I was very dissapointed in Wheels of Light. I thought that it was far too disjointed to be of much use. The author spends an aweful lot of time discussing the first chakra and then gives short shrift to the other 6. If this book was supposed to be about the first chakra, it should say so on the cover. Also, She spends too much time discussing quasi-scientific experiments that "prove" the existance of the chakras. As far as I am concerned, this was the equivalent of preaching to the choir. Anyone buying the book already has some basis for belief in the energy centers and the author need not have spent whole chapters discussing these experiments. A more thorough look at the other 6 chakras would have been far more helpful. Save your money!

Several chapters unfold the secrets of the chakras in beautiful detail. ... Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars Convoluted, murky and distracting
I'm sorry, but I really didn't enjoy this particular book. While it is obvious that Dr. Mumford is indeed of high intellect and sure conviction, his writing style is far too jam-packed with hard-to-grasp concepts that do not bear out or unfold clearly. As someone ravenously interested in Kundalini, I have for some time been seeking Western medicinal validation vis-a-vis books such as this, and as a result, with this book in particular, I was disappointed.

I believe in the "serpent power" of Kundalini, in that I feel it is an actual energy force that resides in all of us. I believe, in addition, that there are serious meditations and exercises one can undertake that will "awaken" or arouse this particular energy. However, as a Christian (though admittedly esoteric in inclination), I was put off by the constant equating of these scientific energies and forces with goddesses and gods that do not ring true to me.

If Dr. Mumford had talked more in lay terms, and had stayed with a more scientific, methodical unfolding of information, I would have most assuredly enjoyed this work much more.

4-0 out of 5 stars a good guide for progress but little skrewed
as a how to book for the more esoteric practices of yoga not bad, simple and direct explanations & exercises. and yes it is intense but doable.what I find skrewed is mumford's explanation of the yamas and niyamas they are little off. I would refer you to the yoga sutras or the thirumandiram. both are much better guides on the philosopy. bisides that overall a good book

1-0 out of 5 stars Caution
Kundalini is an extremely effective practice, and it is absolutely NOT something that should be learned from a book. Dr. Mumford's emphasis on fast results, and ego based gratification is a dangerous way to begin exploring your body's energy, and there are dangers in practicing the pranayama he advocates.

This topic should be explored with a teacher-- fast results are not always good results.

2-0 out of 5 stars MICROWAVE PSYCHIC
THIS BOOK IS INTENDED TO GIVE THE READER AND PRACTITIONER FAST RESULTS OVER A SHORT PERIOD OF TIME. THE READER SHOULD BE CAUTIONED, DO THEY WANT THE 'RESULTS' AT THIS TIME OF THEIR LIVES? ARE THE ABLE TO MAKE THE COMMITMENT TO GET THESE RESULTS? IT'S NOT SO EASY, REALLY. TOO MUCH EMPHASIS IS PLACED ON THE 'ABILITIES'. SO WHAT DO YOU DO IF YOU GET THESE PSYCHIC ABILITIES AND YOU START HEARING VOICES AND SEEING PEOPLE WHO AREN'T THERE? WHAT DO YOU DO?

PROS: PROVIDES PRACTICAL EXERCISES FOR ACCELERATED RESULTS.

CONS: THERE IS LITTLE OR NO THEORY. 'FAST RESULTS' MAY MEAN MONTHS INSTEAD OF WEEKS. THE GOAL APPEARS TO BE MAGICIAL FACULTIES BUT WHEN YOU HAVE THEM WHAT DO YOU DO? THE READER IS LEFT HANGING, BECAUSE THE WORK ISN'T PRESENTED IN ANY FRAMEWORK.

1-0 out of 5 stars Intense, too magical, perhaps too selfish
This is a very intense book. Although there is a lot of information here, it seems the author is writing something to open up people to Kundalini for the purposes of obtaining psychic and magical power. This focus can be dangerous because the emphasis seems to be very much on the 'me' rather than how can my service to humanity be achieved using these methods.

You probably want to start elsewhere and then browse through a copy after you have studied chakras and kundalini for awhile. Not beginner material. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Relax, meditate and create - How Can You Lose?
I highly recommend Barbara Scherek's Celestial Beings of Heaven and Nature Meditation coloring book.

I color to relax and also let out the frustrated artist within.

There are 13 illustrations which represent the four elements of Fire, Air, Water and Earth and correspond to the four quadrants of being which are the Spiritual, Mental, Emotional and Physical.

With this in mind, sitting down, clearing my mind, and listening to soft music, I created my own artwork (with Barbara's help) using coloring pencils.

Each illustration took me at least two hours to complete. That was two hours of relaxation, with a bonus of getting in touch with my creative side.

If you have stress in your life this is a perfect outlet, even if you haven't colored since you were a child!

I look forward to Barbara's future work and commend her for her talent.
Thank you!

4-0 out of 5 stars Great Book on Chakras for the Novice
This was among the first books I have read on the Chakra system that gets straight to "the point" and offers practical exercises for achieving results as it relates to the activation and management of Chakra points. However, with that said, this book omits all but the most essential "background" information about the various Charkras themselves. It is perhaps best studied along with another book with more information (Anodea Judith's other book, WHEELS OF LIFE, for example). Since you're likely to obtain results here, you want a better idea of what you are getting into than this book alone will provide!

The only real gripe I have is that specific breathing techniques are not really covered. This is typical of most "Western"-oriented books/videos outlining Hatha Yoga practices. While many who have done breath work for meditation practice will have little problem adjusting, others might want to pick up a book focusing specifically on breath technique. Donna Fahri's THE BREATHING BOOK is a great place to start.

Nonetheless, a great book if one is inclined toward the more "Western" systems of Chakra work. Unlike the previous reviewer, I'm not going to toss it out just because it doesn't conform in every detail to the "Eastern" paths from whence they came, but I do agree that it probably isn't for those who reject the "Western" points of view inherent in both the "bestseller" New Age or more serious Occult practices ala the Golden Dawn.

GREAT RESULTS TO BE HAD FOR THOSE THAT WANT THEM!!!

2-0 out of 5 stars New Age, New Age, New Age. . .
I began to read this book and put it away thinking that I was having a bad day and was not open and receptive. A few weeks later I picked it up again and continued to read it hoping that I might be open to its message. Again, I was not impressed on my second attempt although I felt a bit more open than on my first reading. I am not an expert in chakras but I am doing a good deal of reading in the subject lately. What I am learning is that chakras in the west are predominately cloaked in "New Age rhetoric" and chakras from the east (India, Vedic, Yoga) are centered in reality, not real (tangible), but real (cultural). If you are comfortable in the "New Age", then this book is for you. You will find the terminology and phrases right in line with typical "New Age" subject matter. If you are looking for a real (cultural) definition and or therapy you might want to look elsewhere. Chakras are subtle energy pathways that are an intricate part of Yoga practice (Yoga in its entirety).

This book has its place and there are those that will find the information and exercises helpful, I was not one of them. I have been interested in eastern philosophy for many years and find that the truth lies at the source, not in the west. We westerners have a bad habit of interpreting eastern philosophy and culture without truly understanding it. The New Age takes the bits and pieces and try to make sense out of it or create something altogether different. There is no quick western "New Age" way to remove what ails you. Your answers lie in the East and they will take time, knowledge, and practice. Thanks for reading my review.

5-0 out of 5 stars Ancient Wisdom made practical and accessible!
This is one of my favorite books, and one I recommend often to friends. It's topic are the chakras, the seven energy centers of the human body. After an introductory chapter, it devotes a chapter to each chakra in depth. Unlike so many other books about chakras, though, this book does NOT just talk & talk & talk about them. Talk feeds the head, and the chakras are about whole-body experience: being able to give a precise verbal definition of the third chakra is NOT at all the same as having a healthy third chakra! This book thoroughly acknowledges that, and for each chakra, recommends a wealth of approaches --- including word association exercises, journal exercises, yogic stretches & exercises (all illustrated with photographs), partner bodywork (again, photographs), and sacred rituals --- for each chakra. Because of the richness and depth of the treatment of each chakra, this book is ideal for someone quite experienced in energetic bodywork as well as for someone who barely knows what a "chakra" is. It can be read cover to cover, or can be consulted as a reference book when issues arise with a particular chakra. If you follow the program they lay out, doing all the exercises for all the chakras, there is almost no way you could avoid experiencing some measure of personal growth and transformation. I can think of no other book that better deserves the epiteth of "User Manual for the Human Body." I highly recommend this book.

5-0 out of 5 stars Chakra Enlightenment Simplified
This is a great starting book if you are like myself that had heard the term, "Chakra" but didn't know too much about it.

I had recently gone to a psychic faire and heard that my 3rd chakra was out of balance, and not knowing much more than that, got this book, and I am pursuing right now how to bring it more into balance.

Very insightful and easy to read. I read about all the various chakra's and then I am really tuning into the third one to see what can be done, to make mine functioning more fully. So this book can be used on a single focus or for general learning of the entire body system.

5-0 out of 5 stars I would give it more stars if I could!
This book is very inspiring, a must read for those trying to find themselves and are on a spiritual journey. This book will help you see yourself in all different aspects of your personality, and when you can identify your feelings, you know how to handle the stiuation. She gives meditation stategies for each archetype, which are very helpful. This is one of my best spiritual books that I own, and I own many. Once again, A MUST READ!

4-0 out of 5 stars a good book for beginners
Having studied archetypes and chakras, I would definitely recommend this book for anyone in the *beginning* of their study of both archetypes and chakras. That said, there are several things I liked about the book: the clear, concise manner in which terms were defined; the manner in which positive and negative aspects of archetypes were defined and illustrated; and the case histories. There are several other things about this book that I question.

However, my main difference is with Ms. Wauters' somewhat glib characteristics of archetypes; first of Victim and Mother in the root chakra. As a childfree person (who also happens to be a teacher) I always knew I never wanted children, and to me, as an extremely independent, autonomous person, the traditional path of motherhood was a path of victimization, ie, putting everyone's needs before one's own, never taking time for oneself, sacrificing constantly, and never complaining. I understand that she means "nurturer" here. One must remember that not all mothers are nurturers (cf Susan Smith and Andrea Yates as extreme examples), and not all who nurture choose to mother (or to parent, to be more inclusive).

I question also that the Servant is a negative archetype; certainly it's not universally so, as Jesus Christ, Mahatma Ghandi and Mother Teresa certainly knew: to serve others is to empower oneself and others. Certainly martyr service is negative, just as nasty, attitude-filled waitperson-from-hell service is negative. But as one who grew up female in the South and came out of it liberal, independent and feminist, at 35 I see that one may choose to serve, but service does not make one a servant. At least on a first reading of Ms. Wauters' book, I'm not sure this point is made clearly enough.

I also question Ms. Wauters' characterization of the Intellectual archetype as negative, and the Intuitive as positive. Personally as an intellectual, I'd characterize that as positive, and too much intuition without articulation as being negative. One does, of course, need to balance both to be healthy.

I also wonder if Ms. Wauters has read _Awakening the Heroes Within_ by Carolyn Pearson, who offers 12 archetypes, all of which are very fleshed out. (I would recommend the Pearson book for a more thorough study of archetypes.) I wonder, too, if she's done elemental reading in Jung. This book, while good, could have done with a bibliography as well. Overall it is a good beginning along the path of studying archetypes and/or chakras.

5-0 out of 5 stars Wonderful introduction to the chakras!
This is a great book! Very easy to understand and easy flowing. One of the best introduction to the chakras I have read. The power this book has, you look inside your own soul and heart and have the power of control to change and unblock your energies. I enjoyed the meditation instructions and really feel at peace with my own being and those around me.

5-0 out of 5 stars An excellent guide to the real you.
This is a great book to introduce you to the chakras and archetypes. It is easy to read and understand, and gives you the tools to look inside your heart and soul in order to know yourself better and change what you believe needs changing. Be honest with yourself when you read it and follow the meditation instructions and you will feel like your life is put back on track.

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent for anyone willing to look inside themselves
I have been on a journey of trying to find out who I am and why I do things for the past 2 years and out of all the information I have come across, this book explains it in the most simplest form with the simplest understanding. I found this book to be one of the only books so far that really gets to the "heart" of the subjects I wanted to work on within myself (and covers all of them!). If you have the courage to look inside and not be afraid of what you find, you can really be on a journey to a more peaceful, fulfilling life. I must go back and read it again so I can practice the exercises and meditations. Excellent book! I'm ordering another one from this author which will expand on my knowledge of unlocking my energies. ... Read more

Book Description

In Chakra Therapy by Keith Sherwood you will learn that the chakras are more than colored areas in your aura. They function as distribution centers for the energy that flows through your body. If they're blocked, the energy doesn't flow and mental, physical, emotional, or spiritual problems can result. But you can clear the blockages and overcome the problems quickly and easily with the powerful yet simple techniques in this book.

You will learn how each chakra functions. Yes, the book explains this for your mind, but for your deepest, inner self - what Sherwood calls your I AM - you have to learn through intuition and true understanding. In order to accomplish this, Chakra Therapy includes meditations for each of the chakras. Even if you have studied the chakras for years, practicing these meditations will help you understand them on a deeper level than ever before.

Once you understand them you can clear them of blockages. This is the real Chakra Therapy. It begins with three simple exercises called locks, which can be performed lying down or sitting in a chair. When the energy starts to flow, you will need to know how to open and balance the chakras. The book covers this, too.

Then there is nothing to stop you. You'll discover the techniques for cleansing the chakras and working with energy through simple yoga methods and breathwork that will bring you to a healthier, more energetic, and more balanced state than ever before.

If you are ready to change your life for better health and happiness, get Chakra Therapy today. ... Read more

2-0 out of 5 stars Not For The Seeker
Before taking my review to heart, please read the other reviews posted here on Amazon.com. "Jim_Young" really enjoyed it, and seems to have gotten a lot out of it. Here's my take:

Because I was raised in a devoutly Christian home, I developed a great "understanding" of spirituality and religious doctrine. At the age of 14, I left the church, feeling that people's personal opinions and blind faith were far too much of the church's foundation. Now an adult, I'm returning to my spiritual roots, but not through the church.

I believe very strongly in people's ability to become aware of, and work with, their energy field. For this reason, I enjoy reading about chakras and meditations for healing and working with them.

I bought this book in a local book store and immediately dove in, hoping to find a personal connection with the author, and a few new exercises for the chakras. What I found was more than half the book dedicated to Keith Sherwood's spiritual quest, and not much at all about how a person can find their own spiritual center. At one point in Keith's life, he was a Pentecostal preacher... but left the church, feeling unfulfilled. To me, this was a warning. He has been in a position of spiritual leadership for some time, yet doesn't seem to have come to terms with his own spiritual destiny. He takes little pieces of many different religions and infuses them into his own. I think that many true seekers of spirituality do the same thing, and I don't have a problem with it, in and of itself. I do have a problem with those people claiming that their perspective is then the true way.

In summary, this book is better read as a spiritualists autobiography than as a guide for meditation and "Chakra Therapy," as the name strongly implies. That being said, proceed at your own discretion.

5-0 out of 5 stars An essential guide for healers.
Now in its twelfth printing, Chakra Therapy, by Keith Sherwood, has proved itself as an essential guide for healers everywhere. Sherwood, a former minister, has trained with masters the world over and made the study of healing and human energy his life's work. He now teaches "a synthesis of Western therapeutic techniques, Taoist Yoga, and Tantra." Sherwood says that "human problems on all levels of causation--spiritual, mental, emotional and physical--are caused by contraction, the inability to radiate energy freely due to blockages in the human energy system." His book is designed to teach people how to release those blockages and fully utilize all the body's energy to heal themselves. He first presents a general discussion of the human energy system, and the ways in which it becomes blocked or fragmented. Sherwood maintains that most blockages are rooted in fear, and that the only effective way of overcoming fear is to confront it. Doing this requires honesty and courage. He says that "honesty is the willingness to see things as they truly are, not as you would like them to be. Courage is the willingness to accept what you see." Neither of these are easy, and he devotes a whole chapter to "becoming fearless." Following a chapter on the physical body, Sherwood then defines and discusses the role of the subtle bodies: the astral body, the mental body, and the causal body in energy therapy. Humans have seven primary chakras, which are energy centers located along the spine and head. Sherwood points out that the chakras must "all be open and in balance if a person is to experience wholeness and unconditional joy." The chakras in most people are blocked and unbalanced. The second half of the book contains a full description of the role of each chakra and how it can become blocked, followed by meditations and exercises for unblocking and clearing the chakra. He also includes several exercises designed to facilitate the flow of energy throughout the whole body. Sherwood promises that Chakra Therapy will help you "learn how to heal yourself by healing your energy system . . . because it is energy in its myriad forms which determines a person's physical health, emotional health, mental health and level of consciousness." Readers will find that he keeps his promise.

5-0 out of 5 stars The Real Reality (without hugging trees)
This book is a "must read" for anyone interested in the Truth. Recently, I spent 9 days in a higher state of consciousness during which time I had full awareness of my chakras. Afterwards, I read Chakra Therapy. The model presented in the book is exactly what I experienced. The author obviously speaks from a position of experience.

The book explains the "mechanics" of God, the Universe, and you. It is basically the yogic model with Christianity, Taoism, Buddishm, etc. overlayed without conflict (afterall, Truth is Truth). Recommendations: read the book and then re-examine your own belief system.

Warnings: do not try the yoga lock exercises mentioned in the book unless you have guidance from an experienced, trained yoga teacher. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Demystifying the Energy centres
To me the chakras have always been one of the mystical aspects of Yoga; even after more than 20 years of Yoga practise. This book explains and effectively de-mystifies it. Why? Because the author not only shares the theories of the Chakras but also tries to substantiate it with emperical evidence - both his own as well as experimental.

Apart from explaining the different energy centers (Chakras) in the body, a series of asanas and techniques are outlined to awaken each of them. The best part of the book is the personal experience of the author. In this he explains how each of his chakras were awakened and what impact it had in his life. This (and my own experience of awakening of 2 of the centres) helped me believe in the existence of the chakras.

5-0 out of 5 stars Significant book on an important topic.
Knowing about the chakras is essential for spiritual development. The chakras are energy centres within the three human bodies: the etheric physical, astral and mental. We ought to learn about these centres as their awakening and unfoldment will be part of every person's growth. (ie. There'll be a lifetime when the disciple or initiate is unable to ignore the chakras.) Chakras are doors to the higher realms, and keys to spiritual powers.

There are ancient texts from Eastern religions on this subject. Among the more modern accounts of this are three classical 20th century books: "The Serpent Power" (1918) by Arthur Avalon, "The Chakras" (1926) by CW Leadbeater and "Theories of the Chakras: Bridge to Higher Consciousness" (1981) by Hiroshi Motoyama. Motoyama's book covers the other two and presents yogic exercises as taught by Swami Satyananda. The exercises are postures (Asanas) designed to gradually and safely prepare the physical body for opening of the seven main chakras.

The chakras are all linked by energy flow lines throughout the body known as nadis. The nadis are also related to the so-called meridians, which were well known to acupuncturists for thousands of years in China. The meridians are also utilised in Shiatsu, or "Touch for Health" where pressure-points on the body are massaged or pressed. The study by Motoyama discusses the chakras':-
1. Locations in the body(or inner bodies),
2. Appearance, descriptions and symbolisms,
3. Qualities when opened or awakened.

In addition Motoyama devised electrical instruments to measure the comparative "charge" around chakras and through the nadis. This part of the book is a bit dry, however the overall text is significant.

The interesting part about the books on chakras is that each says the unfoldment of these centres is a precise science for the initiate. Understandably then, the books can only at best imply the techniques for awakening the chakras by leaving many gaps in the descriptions for the disciple to fill. Furthermore, there is always the sensible warning that wrong or premature awakening of chakras can lead to physical, emotional or mental illness or even death. Despite there being now a lot of chakra books around, I think Motoyama's account is the best starting point.

3-0 out of 5 stars An interesting attempt at blending theories
This book attempts to reconcile the two major eastern approaches to non-western medicine, the chakra system of Indian and the meridian system of China and Japan. The author, a research in the area of TCM and a yogi, reviews different ways the chakras are described of the chakras and develops relationships between these system. He presents his own approach to opening the chakras based his observations.

Overall, this is an interesting but dry book. Anyone interested in the possiblity of the chakras and nadis existing will find it informative. It's best read in small sections. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars very enlightening
My girlfriend introduced me to Carol Ritberger's work. It has changed the way I perceive all of those around me and changed the way I relate to others. I have also met Carol in person, and what an amazing being! You must read and experiment with this book, by all means! There is so much truth and wisdom in it.

5-0 out of 5 stars you will love it!
This book is SOOO accurate & I recommend it to everyone. If you are interested in metaphysical/esoteric information, get this book. Ms. Ritberger is an expert intuitive--I know because I am one of her students.

But...If you just want a fun book to get out and try on your guests or family like a game, then buy it also!!
This book has helped me tremendously in understanding and relating to people at work, clients, and family--I feel like I FINALLY can see the world through my parents' eyes & it has helped our relationship immensely. It is amazing how much this book will enrich your interactions with all people, and how it will change the way you view or "judge" others whom you normally would feel uncomfortable around.

You think people are different than you, well they ARE, but it isnt just on the outside..it is energetic & you were born with a personality color different than some, and similar to others.

5-0 out of 5 stars Amazingly Accurate!
Out of all the personality books I've read, this one takes the cake! Usually personality books have tests and descriptions that are somewhat accurate, but are too general or not as descriptive. Never have I ever come across a personality book that nailed my personality down so completely and accurately.
I have never felt so validated by a personality book in all my life! It really is life changing to accurately know yourself from this easy to understand, third party point of view. Carol Ritberger seems to have true grasp of the subject. Above all the others that I have seen, this is truely a must have! ... Read more
