Book Description

The most harrowing and deeply emotional thriller to date from bestselling author RIdley Pearson.

A spellbinding thriller pitting a U.S. federal marshal against the mob's most resourceful killer -- in a race to save the woman he loves.

Six years ago witness protection agent Roland Larson did the unthinkable: he fell in love with Hope Stevens, a protected witness whose testimony had put away prominent members of the Romero crime family. They planned to "cut and run" together, escaping from both the government and the mob, but in the end only Hope ran-taking with her the daughter Larson never knew they had. Larson thought he would never see them again-but when the Romeros steal the master witness protection list from the Justice Department, Larson is put back on Hope's trail.

In a series of terrifying encounters, Larson matches wits with a brutally ingenious henchman who has kidnapped Hope and Larson's daughter in his ruthless quest to destroy Hope. For Larson, the stakes couldn't be higher -- how can he continue to protect Hope, save the daughter he has never met, and prevent the mob from auctioning off the witness protection list, putting the lives of thousands of innocent people in jeopardy?

Taut and edge-of-the-seat compelling, Cut and Run is a unique thriller that skillfully blends romance and suspense -- Ridley Pearson at his heart-pounding best. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars "Die Another Day"
HAWKEN'S HEART by amazing storyteller, Suzanne Brockmann, was such a good read.

I have read literally ALL of this fabulous writer's books and have enjoyed each one of them.I'm such a fan.

Ms. Brockmann has her own unique trademark in creating hot and believable characters, read-through without wanting to stop dialogue, and nail-biting suspensful plots that hold the reader captive for hours on end.

She could have easily been the creator/writer for the newer James Bond stories, like, "Die Another Day."One of my favorite.

If you are a die-hard romantic-suspense lover then, "HAWKEN'S HEART," is without question the book for you.You won't be disappointed!

(Highly Recommended Novel!)

5-0 out of 5 stars Fast Paced Plot
This book is fast paced and the plot is tightly woven. The scenes are memorable and believable (I find that hard to concieve in some romance novels). So I rate this a high 5 and wish i could give it a 10 for page turning, keep you on your toes writting.
recommending: Katlyn Stewart and Janet Evanovich

4-0 out of 5 stars Another SEAL That Will Want For Your Own!!
Typical of Ms. Brockmann and her SEAL team stories this read previouse released as "It Came Upon A Midnight Clear" offers the reader a smart fast paced read with one yummy hero and one fiesty heroine that will keep the reader entertained right up to the final page.

Nell Burns is the personal assistant to Daisy Owens.Daisy is the cousin of William "Crash" Hawkins.Daisy has also found out that she has a brain tumor and will not survive.Nell goes to Crash to give him this bit of bad news.Hawkins can't believe that he's about to loose such an important person in his life. His life as a SEAL prevents him from getting involved with anyone.Problem is he was not counting on Nell. She speaks to him in a way that no woman ever has. But, he lets her walk away from him. Will he get a second chance with her?

Nell falls, and falls hard for Hawkins. After just one night with her prince she walks away after he makes it clear to her that things would never work between them.Problem with this is Nell's heart doesn't get the message.A year later when Crash is arrested for murder, Nell, knows that he is innocent. She risks her life to help him and in the process they are thrown together and feels can't be ignored...or can they?

Billy "Crash" Hawkins is one hero you will instanly fall in love with yourself.Nell is another Brockmann heroine that is just sassy and fiesty enough to handle her man. This was a fast paced read that will capture the readers attention.I love her SEAL series and this read was not exception.

5-0 out of 5 stars The best of the TDD books
If you are even reading this review, you are probably a fellow Suzanne Brockmann fan.If not, buy this book and you will join the growing group of fans.Ms. Broackman's books always feel "real," no matter how far fetched the back of the book may make the plot seem.

This book was previously released as "Upon a Midnight Clear," and is my favorite of the TTD books, and probably my favorite romantic fiction book period.

One of the faults attributed to Ms. Brockmann is that her female characters are not as interesting or likeable as her male charaters.Ms. Brockmann herself has refered to this as the "too stupid to live" female lead problem. That is definately not the case with this book.Nell Burns is spunky and easy to root for.

Crash Hawken, the title character, is one of the best written characters that you will find in the genre.I love every scene told from his point of view, and love whenever he appears is later TDD books, as you learn from this book what is going on behind his quiet demeanor.

The sub-plot of this story is the lovely romance between Crash's surragete parents, his cousin Daisey and Jake Robinson (the lead charater of the Admiral's Bride). It is poingent, and makes you appreciate every day (and every sunset) you have with those you love.

Book Description

Sparks fly between a police chief and a reporter who are thrown together when a brutal killer comes out of hiding after fifteen years.

Pawleys Island, South Carolina. Sunny, idyllic, and picture perfect, until a tabloid news program airs a splashy segment about the community's only unsolved murder-the grisly stabbing of teenager Tara Mitchell and the subsequent disappearance of her two best friends, both thought to be long dead. In the years since the murders, several families have moved into the mansion where the crime occurred, each claiming that the dead girls still haunt the house. Beautiful redheaded reporter Nicole Sullivan, sensing the story that could be her big break, arranges for her mother, a renowned psychic, to contact the three victims via a live siance on the show Twenty-four Hours Investigates.

But something goes terribly wrong during the segment, and a young woman is murdered in the exact same manner as Tara Mitchell was fifteen years earlier. Pressured by her producers to get the inside story, Nicole is ordered to continue to investigate. As an attraction grows between Nicole and police chief Joe Franconi, another identical murder occurs, along with a menacing note warning that the original killer is back to claim three more lives. The body count rises, and so does the danger to Nicole, who is attacked, barely escaping with her life. She and Joe are forced to join forces as it becomes clear that the killer has set his sights on Nicole as his next victim.

Tightly plotted and deeply suspenseful, Superstition is Karen Robards's most captivating work yet.

5-0 out of 5 stars Delightful
A little mystery, a little intrigue and full of passion. This one is a keeper and I am not one to usually write reviews of any kind. So this has to be good.
another keeper is: Fire In The Ice by Katlyn Stewart

4-0 out of 5 stars great, but....
i thought this was a great book and had a great plot, etc. etc.
but i continued to get aggravated with the indept descriptions of every little thing and the different little sayings.i like to know what things look like to put me in that place, but some of the detail wasn't really necessary.keep it up though.

2-0 out of 5 stars UH-OH
Nicole Sullivan is a host for a show similar to one on Court TV. She returns to her home island to investigate a 15 year old murder. She is hoping to revive a dying career. Her mother is a psychic and she wants to televise her mother trying to contact the spirits in the murder house.

Joe Franconi is the Police Chief of the Island. HE is a burnt out cop who got wounded when a bust went bad. He does not expect a murder to happen on his little island. He and Nicky seem to get together very quickly.

This sounds like a good plot, but beware, Nicky is a media vulture, out for the fame. And Joe is just burnt out. I wait a year for each new Karen Robards book and I was disappointed. The first 350 pages try to get you to empathize with the main characters, the last 65 you get all the action and explaination and let say it was not worth it.

With everyone seeing ghosts and old or possibly new murderers doing their best to kill Nicky, she is struggling for her 15 minutes of fame to catch the notice of a Morning News Show looking for a co-host. Joe is trying to live with a ghost he keeps seeing from his last bust. There was a great potential here for a great book. But the ending is so simple and straight forward ( even with two murderers ) that you just feel let down.

I could have had better feelings for the book if our two main characters had a little more character or integrity. The fact that they both got their best outcome was beside the point. I have been able to find something in everyone of Karen's previous characters. But Nicky was a total selfish fish. This one did not do it for me. Like I always say different strokes for different folks, so you may like it. But these are my thoughts and I hate to pay so much for a book and be let down. How about you?

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent tale of suspense
Karen Robards writes a spin tingling tale in her newest novel Superstition.

Nicky Sullivan, top reporter for a 24 hour Investigates is back in her hometown of Pawley Island SC. Fifteen years ago there was a brutal murder in town. Nicky has her mother a noted psychic to help solve the case.Another murder occurs on the night of the broadcast. This puts Nicky and her family and crew in danger.

Police chief Joe Franconi came to quiet Pawley Island to simplify his life. These TV people are making his life a three-ring circus.Plus he is attracted to its star Nicky. When the terror escalates Joe will protect Nicky with his life.

Superstition is a riveting tale of evil that lurks where you least expect it.The story pulls you and doesn't let go.The dynamics of Nicky's family is funny, sweet and touching.Nicky and Joe are two strong willed characters that deserve a chance at love.

1-0 out of 5 stars OUCH
I don't usually stop after reading the first third of a book and write a review, but this book more than warrants it.Do you remember being assigned a 500 word essay in school and how you just described everything to a fault to fit in all those words....?Well, Karen Robards must be being paid by the word. She never uses one when 500 will do instead.
The first third of this book contains one of the longest run-on sentences known to mankind; not to mention the sentence that contains more commas than any grammar book known.Robards' editor must be on maternity leave because no one could have read this before they published it.Adjectives are attached to the wrong nouns, totally changing the meaning of the sentence. It is so awful you have to read and re-read and then re-read it again to get through one sentence. She took well over SIX FULL PAGES to describe a few minutes of activity.I shudder to think what awaits me in the rest of the book.Drivel is the best word I can think of:lots and lots of drivel!
I know some will disagree with me - but I bid you read a book by Stephen White and see what fabulous writing is - concise, smooth and suspenseful. This is none of those things. ... Read more

Book Description

With her trademark electrifying storytelling and razor-sharp tension, New York Times bestselling author Elizabeth Lowell proves once again why she is one of today's top masters of suspense -- in a riveting tale of dark family secrets ready to explode with the devastating force of a Southwestern earthquake.

The powerful Quintrell family of New Mexico has spent decades in the public eye. Now the recent death of the clan's patriarch, a former U.S. senator, has placed his son, Governor Josh Quintrell, squarely in the spotlight as he prepares his run for the highest political office in the land. It is not a good time to be rattling skeletons in the family's closets.

Researching personal histories isn't just Carolina "Carly" May's profession, it's her passion. When the governor's eccentric Aunt Winifred invites Carly into the Quintrells' private Taos compound to compile a genealogical record of the illustrious residents, she can hardly believe her good luck. But digging into the past is raising troubling questions about the would-be president's private life, his late father and catatonic mother, and the grisly street crime that left his notorious drug-addicted sister dead. And it soon becomes frighteningly apparent that the motivation of the dotty old woman who hired Carly might be something more akin to revenge -- and that someone is determined to remove the inquisitive genealogist from the picture by any means necessary.

As a dark world of twisted passions and depraved crimes slowly opens up before Carly, she realizes that there is no one whom she dares to trust -- perhaps least of all Dan Duran, a dangerous and haunted mystery man who's somehow tied to the Quintrells' past. But she will need an ally to survive the terrible secrets a father carried to the grave and an even more devastating evil that lurks among the living -- because following the bloodlines of the wealthy and power-hungry can be a bloody business ... and some dead secrets can kill.

Book Description

If you sense someone's watching you from afar, or if you feel a shadow other than your own at your back, I might as well pack it up and call it a day.

It's a job that makes a killing. Efficient, professional, and without apology, Lily Mansfield is a hired assassin, working as a contract agent for the CIA. Her targets are the powerful and corrupt, those who can't be touched by the law.

Now, after nineteen years of service, Lily has been drawn into a dangerous game that hasn't been sanctioned, seeking vengeance for her own reasons. Each move bolder than the next, she is compromising her superiors, drawing unwanted attention, and endangering her very life. Though stress and shock have made her feel somewhat invincible and a little cocky, Lily knows that she too can be taken out in an instant. And if it's her time, so be it. She intends to go down fighting.

A CIA agent himself, Lucas Swain recognizes the signs of trauma in the line of fire. His orders: either bring her in or bring her down. Yet he too is drawn into the game with Lily Mansfield, dancing on a tightrope as he tries to avoid a major international incident while still battling a tenacious foe who is dogging their every step. Keeping laser focus on the task at hand while vigilantly watching her back, Mansfield never sees the lethal peril that lies directly in her path . . . and how loyalty has a price.

Chock-full of the intrigue, breathless action, and sensuality that have made Linda Howard the master of romantic suspense, Kiss Me While I Sleep is a daring thriller of passion, sudden twists, and richly imagined characters who live and breathe in reader's hearts. It is the most gripping and complex novel of Linda Howard's career. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Romance with suspence
This story had some good suspense when the characters weren't in down time waiting for their informants to give more information. Of course during those times, they were busy as bunnies. My only qualm with this story is that there were not enough red herrings to throw you off. It could have been very surprising, but I wasn't fooled because I had no one else to suspect. It did make me cry at the end though, so I gave it 4 stars for the raw emotion.

5-0 out of 5 stars The Best of Howard
This is one of Linda Howard's Finest. The plot centers around Lily an ex-agent who kills us the man responsible for the death of her friends and daughter. She is on the run from the CIA and others. Lucas Swain is the operative sent after her. This has plenty of twists and turns. The ending is great as well. If you are looking for great action this is it.

5-0 out of 5 stars LOVED IT!
Lily and Lucas were a great couple.I love Linda Howard and thought this was up there with her better works.Poor Lily had been used and abused by the CIA and was naturally a little messed up.However, her big heart was just waiting for a chance to settle down and love someone. And what a someone!Good looking, competent and what a sense of humor!I actually laughed out loud a few times. Highly recommend this book.

5-0 out of 5 stars Kiss me anytime Swain
I loved this book! Lately I ahve been getting into watching strong female movies like Kill Bill, GI Jane, Alias, La Femme Nikita. And actually this book is riminiscent of all but GI Jane to give you an idea. The heroine is tough, ruthless, smart, no nonsense with a good heart. However, Swain the hero may just be the star in the story (think Mel Gibson in Lethal Weapon) He was funny, care free, sexy,an Alpha Male but lovable. He doesnt say things that make him sound jerkish at all. I highly recommend this book.

4-0 out of 5 stars A thriller with a twist!!
Lily is a much scarier female protagonist that many in other of Ms. Howard's books. She is a hired contract killer - mostly hired by the CIA.Without giving away the plot, which I hate when reviewers tell almost the whole story, Lily is going to meet her match in Lucas Swain who is even trickier than she is.Swain is more tender-hearted and feels that Lily has lost out on a lot of life. However, he was sent to take her out of the game and so falling for her is not a good plan.

How Swain and Lily wrestle with their personal lives and relationship and how the mystery they are solving unfolds and is resolved provides close calls, ingenuity and many plots twists that for me make this a very fun read!! ... Read more

Book Description

The blaze that night at her family's pizzeria changed young Reena Hale's life. Neighbors and relatives would help the Hales rebuild. The Baltimore authorities would arrest the arsonist responsible. But as Reena beheld the fire's brutal beauty and destructive power, her destiny began to take shape. She would understand and master its terrible force-and one day become an investigator herself.

But she is not the only one fascinated by the flames. Someone else sees their power-and is obsessed not with conquering the fire but with controlling it, owning it, using it to exact vicious revenge . . .

When Reena finally joins the arson unit, her strength and wits are constantly tested-although sometimes the job seems like a snap compared to her love life. But she can't always blame the men-after all, a soot-caked woman barking orders and smelling of smoke isn't the biggest turn-on in the world. Then she meets Bo Goodnight, who seems different. He's been trying to find Reena for years, and now that she is close enough to touch, he has no intention of letting go.

Nor does the man who has begun to haunt Reena's life-with taunting phone calls and a string of horrifying crimes. And as Reena tries desperately to trace the origins-of the calls, the fires, the hatred aimed in her direction-she will step into the worst inferno she has ever faced.

From the incomparable Nora Roberts, Blue Smoke is a tale of gut-level fear, human triumph, and the bonds that carry us through our darkest times.

5-0 out of 5 stars I Love These McCloud Brothers!!!!
Ms. McKenna has created one of my favorite sets of brothers. The McCloud brothers are sensitive, sexy, and talented in saving their lady in danger. This is Davy's story and it's red hot and fast paced!

Margot has a problem.A big problem her ex-boyfriend has been murdered and she has been set to take the fall.On top of that she's on the run from a stalker (boyfriends killer) and has no idea what the yahoo looks like or more importantly what he wants.Desperate and running out of options she seeks Davy McCloud's help. She has been watching this sexy ex-P.I. for several days he is more yummy up close.Their attraction is instant and out of control. But will he realize that he cares more for the sassy Margot than he thinks or will a killer get to her before he has a chance to come to terms with his feelings?

Davy McCloud is the oldest of the McCloud brothers and he takes his job of watching out for his brothers seriously. When sexy Margot comes to him with a request for help he can't turn his back on her.She speaks to him in a way that no woman ever has. When snakey the sicko stalker ups the ante he is there watching out for Margot and falling a little harder. Will he be able to protecter her and his heart or will he loose one or the other?

Davy and Margot are both strong characters and this shows in their growing attraction and relationship.Neither is going to back down.Ms. McKenna has created another wonderfully diabolical evil guy and readers will be glued to the pages in order to see what this guy will do next, and what Davy will do in order to keep Margot out of his clutches. This is a fast paced read, and several of old friends from her previous books make a come back so to speak. This is one read that I feel more than comfortable recommending you add to your summer reading list.

4-0 out of 5 stars Just done reading 11am
I have to say that I loved this female character! I have to disagree with the reviewer AMY, Margot was a great female lead because she didnt take any of Davy's BS. These McCloud brothers have issues of control and they need a womanwho can cut them down to size when their being obnoxious. To me, I think Margot could have added even more. Margot has a cutting wit, strong, and thank goodness not a push over for Davy the wayRaine was for Seth in Behind Closed Doors. The only thing that makes me able to stand these alpha males is if there is a strong female that we can trust to hold her own and not be swept under the rug with these guys. Otherwise you spend most of the novel hating the McClouds and feeling sorry and exasperated for the heroine. If you like a woman who can hold her own with cutting modern wit, youll love this book.

Oh and I have to say that the sex was very graphic, explorative, and alittle...'wow i cant believe they did that' sort of thing in this book. I love that Shannon is able to go there in her books, she is not cookie cutter romance at all and thats what keeps me reading her.

And another thing, I have to agree with another reviewer in that through out the book, I wasnt feeling the love from Davy. The dude has issues, that border on being emotionaly abusive. It was imperative that Shannon create a strong female to keep him leveled otherwise this dude would run her into the ground.
And thats why I didnt give it 5 stars bc I think he could have been more hmmmm emotionally giving and still look cool.
But the book is entertaining, enjoy your read.

5-0 out of 5 stars Enticing, Erotic and Full Of StoryLine
If you like a taste of erotic pleasure mixed with an appetizing read, then "OUT OF CONTROL" is what you are looking for. Highly rated.

5-0 out of 5 stars Another Awesome book
Shannon McKenna has written another heart thumbing, spine tingling story in Out Of Control.

PI. Davy McCloud has kept his life fairly simple and uncluttered. But Margo Vetter, the new exercise instructor, is distracting him.Davy realizes something is not right with Margot she is hiding something.

Margot has run away from a bad situation and is starting over. Now it appears she has a stalker. She turns to Davy for help. But Davy poses a danger all on his own. He could well capture her heart.

Davy and Margot join forces to ferret out the stalker. As the danger picks up its pace, so does the passion that develops.

Out Of Control hits you from page one and doesn't let go. Its griping story of suspense and pure evil will have you enthralled.Ms. McKenna writes sexual tension and passion like no other. It rocks your world.

4-0 out of 5 stars Not the best, but still a great read
I thought her previous two books were better both in plot and characters.I liked Davy, but it took me awhile to like Margot and I'm not quite sure she was up to being the one for Davy. Some of the things that bothered me were the names she called him, her aggressiveness and at times, her attitude.Davy, on the other hand, was what I expected in one of McKenna's heros. It was also great to have Seth and Sean in the mix as well.

I won't go into the plot details as others have done a much better job than I would, but I wanted to mention that the story takes place pretty rapidly. They only know each other for several days before the end when it's happily ever after.I can't make myself buy that one, but that's just me.

Also, I did notice a lot of spelling errors and kept wondering how anyone could spell it wrong on one page and then correctly on the next.I figured it was either you knew how to spell the word or you didn't.Anyway, it was distracting from the story.

For me, Davy and his brother, Sean, with the help of Seth saved the story for me.The sex scenes were what you would expect from McKenna, but it did make up most of Davy and Margot's time together.

But trouble seems to follow Max like moths to a flame, and Jamie suspects he's all wrong for her. Meanwhile, the lingerie shop is having a sale on edible underwear, while the bakery's selling aphrodisiac-laced brownies and x-rated birthday cakes. Even Jamie's dog, Fleas, is dodging passes from the amorous French poodle next door! But when someone starts bumping off some of the town's more annoying citizens, all clues lead straight to the new personals section in Jamie's newspaper. Pretty soon, things are getting hot and heavy, as Max and Jamie start uncovering secrets-and undressing each other...

2-0 out of 5 stars Airplane/Beach Read, Not good for much else.
I've never read any of Janet Evanovich or Charlotte Hughes' other novels... so I really didn't know what to expect when I grabbed this book in an airport to read on a 3 hour flight. I read the book in just over an hour and a half, mostly because the book is full of interesting dialogue and it moves quickly. The chracters were, for the most part, wacky and intriguing and kept my interest.

The basic storyline is, Jamie Swift owns and runs a local newspaper in smalltown Beaumont, South Carolina. She had a relationship with uber hot millionaire businessman Max Holt (I assume in a previous novel), but the two have not seen each other in several weeks. When murders start happening in Beaumont and they appear tied to the personals section of Jamie's newspaper, she calls in Max for help and the two start to heat things up all over again as they try and solve the mystery.

While the book was a fast paced read with interesting characters, it was also chock full of cliches and absurdities. First, how many romance novels have average Jane smalltown girl meeting and falling in love with the uber-millionaire who dates famous models and actresses? I know it's a fun read, but after the 10 millionth time reading it, it gets a little silly. Maybe it's just me, but I'm getting sick of the billionaire heros in romance novels. It IS possible to have a great hero who isn't richer than Bill Gates!

The other MAJOR absurdity of the book is Max's computer, "Muffin." Maybe I found it totally stupid and preposterous because I work in the computer game industry around lots of programmers on a daily basis. Max's computer is basically like David Hasselhoff's car in Knight Rider. Except worse. It has a personality and feelings (um, the computer suffers PMS?!). Come on now. The computer also is having a relationship with another computer at MIT? What the? When I first read about "Muffin" it was a total forehead slapper. If I hadn't been on a plane with nothing else to read, I probably would have thrown down the book in disgust right there.

That said, the story did have it's positive points. While I don't believe in psychics and the like, I did really enjoy the Destiny Moultrie character. She was interesting and funny, especially when talking to her dead friend Ronnie. The main characters were pretty interesting, though the secondary characters really made the book good. Vera was another of my favorite characters, a vivacious old lady who wants to feel young again.

Overall, I think there are much better novels out there. This one wasn't horrible as an airplane or beach read, but I would highly recommend MANY other books over it - specifically anything by Nora Roberts/J.D. Robb.

5-0 out of 5 stars Fun! Fun! Fun!
EVERYBODY is featured to full potential in this 4th of the series. Max and Jamie are as cautiously steamy as ever. Poor Muffin suffers symptoms of pregnancy, and Vera gets a lot more action and feature time than in previous episodes. It's a wonderful series. Finally saw Janet E. on TV last night with an ad for her new Stephanie Plum novel. Both series are great entertainment.

One big element in the enjoyment of these audio books is reader Lorelei King. She is the most expressive and comical reader I've ever heard and I've listened to MANY. Her vocal range between Jaime, Max, Vera, DeeDee and her oh-so-faithful Beenee (sp?)are astounding. All characters have a particular vocal distinction of their own.

I commute an hour each way to work and I can't find a better way to spend the time than with ANY Janet Evanovich or Charlotte Hughes book on CD. Passes the time so quickly. Can't wait to get back in the car and continue!!!

5-0 out of 5 stars A very funny book
I picked up this book before I had read any other by the author, or in the series, and laughed my way through it. I LOVE the quirks of the charactors and Muffin is great! I went out and bought the other 3 books and devoured them in 2 days and have re-read all 4 books. They are very light reading, but enjoyable. A great summertime/beach book when you want to laugh.

4-0 out of 5 stars Fun but not the best by Evanovich
Jamie Swift is a small town newspaper editor, also known as Swifty by multi-millionaire Mac Holt, who is a silent partner in the paper. Jamie has started a new personals section in the newspaper. But, when a local lingerie shop owner is killed after having a grand opening, and one of her personals is found circled in her office things become tense for Jamie and she calls Max for help. (This is the 3rd book the 2 have teamed up in). There are more killings that also seem to link back to the personals section. Max and Jamie go undercover along with a "clairvoyant" named Destiny to see if they can ferret out who the killer is. So Jamie and Destiny date the different men, compare notes with Max and his computer "muffin" at the same time as Max and Jamie continue to fight their desires for each other. At one point Jamie who has frequented the new lingerie shop is very "tipsy" and decided to show Max, at his B&B room, her new lingerie and at the same time that she does the door opens to the owner of the B&B, making Jamie the talk of the town.

This is not up to the caliber that one would expect if they are Stephanie Plum fans but if you are looking for a VERY light read with some humor this one is for you.

1-0 out of 5 stars trees died for the sake of THIS?!
Back when Janet Evanovich seemed to write mainly romances, i.e. pre Stephanie Plum, they weren't good enough to be Harlequins. They're still not. I, like many other readers of her Plum series, wish she would stop producing such absolute garbage books as this one (I'm so glad I didn't actually pay money for - a friend gave me hers) and really focus on bringing back the quality of writing that attracted readers to the Plum series. Since she has been doing the "Full" series, her Plum novels have plummeted. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Mind bending murder
This book is so clever! Ostensibly a murder mystery set in the year 2058 where the victims are somehow being enticed to commit suicide. However the author has written in a terrific and subtle subplot. The murders are being investigated by New York police lieutenant Eve Dallas. Only married 3 weeks Eve and her husband Roarke's relationship is tested at a fundamental level by the machinations of a mood controlling sound engineer. In the other books in the series Eve relies on Roarke's presence in order to fulfil a need as basic as good night's sleep so it is only fitting that in Rapture in Death it is Eve who gives Roarke the strength to come through their dilemma. Eve solves the murders in her usual way - by getting it wrong!! However that hasn't stopped me buying all seven books in the series and placing an order for 'Conspiracy in Death'. Nora - I think you're brilliant but I can't imagine how you cope with that sort of output!!!

5-0 out of 5 stars A COMPELLING AND CONVINCING READING
Voice performer Susan Ericksen is both compelling and convincing in her reading of this fourth book in the "In Death" series by noted author Nora Roberts writing as J. D. Robb. As was the case with the three previous tales, "Rapture In Death" is a skillful blend of mystery, romance and hi jinks.

While Lieutenant Eve Dallas knows her way around her New York precinct and has seen what few can imagine, she's not come up against three apparent suicides - a sharp engineer, a questionable attorney, and a maybe, maybe not politician.

Is it possible that someone or something is causing these people to take their own lives? What does our intrepid detective discover as she probes the lives of the lately departed?

It's the year 2058 and Eve is supposed to be on her honeymoon with her new spouse at a resort on another planet. After all, this is 50 years hence so we can add sky glides, increased life spans, and the other someday-will-bes that we now read about in sci-fi.

The addition of techno thrills spices her story as Roberts spins another spellbinding yarn. This is a good one to listen to while curled up by the fire on a cold winter's night.

- Gail Cooke

4-0 out of 5 stars Even honeymoons have to end
The previous novel dealt with the preparations for the wedding between Eve and Roarke, and the "minor" inconvenience for the former of having to keep her best friend, Mavis, out of jail. This book starts with the honeymoon, which surprised me, since the author did not give any descriptions of the eagerly awaited wedding. We get a glimpse here and there of a few aspects of the ceremony in this book, but I think there were a lot of readers interested in a more thorough description of the event.

Lieutenant Eve Dallas does not even get to finish her honeymoon in peace. In the last stage of their trip, Eve is spending some time in one of the many resorts off-planet Roarke owns and is involved in a case when an employee is found hanged in his room. Even though there are no reasons for this person to commit suicide, there is no other logical conclusion, so that is the ruling at the time. Back home and after resuming her duties, Eve has to spend a day in court facing a pushy and crafty defense attorney, but her hate turns to surprise when he is found hours later as a victim of an apparent suicide. When she discovers that a politician with no reasons to kill himself jumped from a building, the coincidence becomes too much and Eve gets deeper and deeper into one of the toughest cases she has faced yet.

J.D. Robb maintains a high level of quality in terms of writing, a fast-paced action and a good character development. At least for me what happens with the relationships between the characters is half the fun. Peabody is given a more prominent role as Eve's aid after the last case, in which a criminal working from within the police department used the young cop for his evil purposes. We even get to take another step towards understanding Eve's childhood, since in this installment she remembers more facts about what her father did to her and about how she ultimately killed him. This futuristic series has clearly got my attention and it will not let go!

5-0 out of 5 stars Roarke's back!
Death follows Eve and Roarke on their honeymoon in outer space, but is it suicide or homicide? When more bodies show up back on planet Earth, Eve faces another case where clues lead to her new husband. (But then, the guy owns practically everything!)

I found this one fascinating because of the concepts of subliminal messaging in virtual reality toys... manufactured by Roarke's company... and especially the growing love between the two main characters. How they relate to one another is amazing.

5-0 out of 5 stars Hot!
After reading the first 3 books in the series, I couldn't wait to read this book. Wow! Robb/Roberts just keeps gettig better and better. Eve and Roarke have to deal with some serious issues that endanger their marriage--but what doesn't kill you makes you stronger, as they say. Peabody, Feeney, Mavis, Sommerset, Nadine, Mira--they are all back and more. And if you are looking for some hot sex...WOW! The pages practically burned my fingers! ... Read more
