Nearly a decade into their run, it's clear that The Simpsons is one of the best-loved and most influential television shows to come down the pike in a long while. If the show's attitude was a little less pervasive, this encyclopedic book would be aimed solely at Simpsons addicts. But that's not entirely true--Matt Groening and Ray Richmond have created a book that is essential for anyone interested in where TV is today. That's not to suggest that the book is serious, though--it's not. The Simpsons: A Complete Guide to Our Favorite Family (that's debatable, but who cares?) is a collection of everything related to the show, from all the "couch gags" during the end of the opening credits, to the complete words to the theme song from The Itchy and Scratchy Show. There are broadcast dates, credits, and hidden jokes for every episode. You'll even find a list of things that make Homer go "Mmm..."

If you're a fan of the show, you'll be hard-pressed to find fault with Ray Richmond's collection. The only glaring one is that the stills often look a little blurry.Oh, and couldn't they have come up with a funnier title? But that's nitpicking. Simpsons fans, you know what to do. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars FINALLY - HIGH QUALITY SIMPSONS MERCHANDISE
If you're a die-hard fan like me and want to know every little hidden secret in each episode, then this book is for you. I wouldn't recommend it for the person that catches an episode of Simpsons whenever they can. This book is so full of trivia tid-bits that you can rest assured that many Simpson newsgroups popped up after the release of this book. Each episode has one or two pages dedicated to it and on these pages you will find, the episode's technical details, a synopsis of the episode, memorable quotes from memorable characters, chunks of "must-memorise" dialogue, film/literary/historical references, and "What You Might Have Missed" - a section of little hidden jokes. Apart from the episode guide there is a list of Homer's "Mmmms", a list of Homer's "Doh's", all the couch gags, all of Bart's blackboard writings, a list of the cast and what voices they do, a list of the signs seen in Springfield, a list of Krusty merchandise, an episode guide for the 42 Simpson shorts seen on the Tracey Ullman show, and an episode guide for The Itchy and Scratch Show. This is NOT one of those 15 page black and white books printed on recycled newspaper with illegible writing and blurry images. This is a high-quality publication from Matt Groening himself.

5-0 out of 5 stars Every fan of The Simpsons should have or read this book.
After reading this book from cover to cover (which took me nearly a month due to the amount of writing inside) I found myself watching re-runs of the show, looking out for hidden things that I and most people would have missed that the booked pointed out to me. But don't think that that's all the book is, writing, theres also alot of pictures taken from the show. The book has a profile on every character that I can think of that has appeared on the show. What I found interesting was the movie moments write ups in some episodes that pointed out some moments in the show that were taking off movies or shows. Along with every episode, is the special guest the dialogue, the favourite lines, things you may have missed, what Bart wrote on the blackboard in the starting credits and anything else special that happened in that episode. This book is very colorful and well illustrated, a great book for not just kids but adult fans of the show as well.

5-0 out of 5 stars Mmm... Official Episode Guide...
"The Simpsons: A Complete Guide to Our Favourite Family" is as info-packed and as fun as it can possibly be.

This book covers the first ten years of the cartoon, every episode from the early Tracey Ullman shorts (1987) to the 8th series (1997). Each full length episode is covered in a very colourful page or two. Each has it's own outline, set of screenshots, the featured chalkboard gag, and array of the most memorable quotes (and songs, if any) from the episode. Dotted around are lists of popular culture references. as well as a box featuring thing to look out for in each episode, such as funny stuff in the background. (This makes watching the old episodes all the more fun)

But that's not all. Dotted through the book are character profiles on all your favourites Springfield citizens - Mr Burns, Chief Wiggum, Krusty - and even some that you might have forgotten. Remember Frank Scorpio, or Dr Foster? This guide does!

Wedged in between season listings are all sorts of fun facts. Who plays what voice, how many times has Homer said "mmm" or "d'oh!", an Itchy and Scratchy episode guide and so much more!

This book one of the most colourful, easy to read and enjoyable episode guides there's ever been. It's like watching the show, but without the TV. Fans of the Simpsons will never tire of this book, I should know. My copy has been VERY well read. Ideal for a birthday or christmas gift.

5-0 out of 5 stars Best Book Ever
I've had this book for real long time, I've must've read it over 100 times now. A Complete *not so Complete* Guide has every episode from the very first season when it was just shorts on the Tracy Ullman to season eight in which what I think is the best seasons ever, In the book it has extras like: Homer's Doh's, Bart's Chalkboard sayings, The Complete guide to Krusty's stuff, Stuff you may have missed, quotes, and MORE!!! and features the classic episodes that made the Simpsons what they are today, this is the motherload for all the simpson geeks like me, and a must have!

4-0 out of 5 stars For all Simpsons Fans
I always wanted to get this book since it came out but just never got around to it until now. Well, I got it dirt cheap but I'm still pleased to have it.

In order, every episode from 1989 to the 1998 season is covered in this book. Each show is given a plot synopsis, funniest lines in quotations, trivia notes and in-joke references along with pictures and cast details. Every page margin has a special section for one-off or returning cameo characters such as Gil or Handsome Pete. The trivia comes in sections called 'Stuff you may have missed' but most of it is easy to spot first time you watch the episodes. The real subtle humor is mostly left out and I can't imagine why this is.

Once each individual season is cover a double page spread is devoted to such whacky stuff as 'The Signs of Springfield'. Anyone who watches the show will know that there is some pretty weird stuff written over the town such as 'Costingtons-Over 200 years without a slogan' or 'Don't eat beef...eat deer'.

Matt Groening designed this book himself and he's done a cool job. It's easy to read and quickly accessible as a reference guide. There are two more books so far in this series that cover the seasons since 1998. I'll get round to buying them someday coz if they are exactly like this then they are definitely worth it. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars The Ultimate Guide for the Ultimate Simpsons Fan
This Episode Guide has EVERYTHING that you can ever imagine in an episode guide. From Seasons 1-12, it has details on every single episode. Its got quotes, what Bart writes on the chalkboard in the intro, couch gags, special guest voices, writers, screenshots, episode number (i.e. 8F05), air date, scene selections, runtime, and a whole lot more. All of this for only about $30, what a bargain.

Now I have seen every single Simpsons episode up-to-date but sometimes I forget about an episode or about a quote from a certain episode that I forget but now all I do is look over at my episode guide, track the season down and from there I find out what I needed. This book isn't just for looking for episodes and finding quotes or stuff like that, it can also be entertaining and a time killer (I mean that in a good way). So if you're stuck in the car going on a vacation, you can open this Episode Guide up and have yourself a laugh and maybe even find out some useful stuff that you didn't know about. This is a strong recommendation for any Simpsons fan.

5-0 out of 5 stars The Simpsons Forever!
I have the first book that covers seasons 1-8 and it is an absolute must-have for Simpson fans not in front of the internet who want to remember specific shows and lines from the shows at their fingertips. It has brought hours and hours of joy to my friends and I. I think the guy from Belgium is just bitter and might want to consume some Duff.

1-0 out of 5 stars The Simpsons - The Final Rip Off
Yes, I was a great fan of The Simpsons. The show originally appeared to be a critical cynical approach to American and western society. It showed a family who's main entertainment is television, a father who's an alcoholic with a boring job, a son which main interest is to pull jokes out of sheer boredom, a daughter who is terrified by it all escaping in intellectualism and a mother who stays married whatever happens. Let's say a nice portrait of an ordinary family.
However, the show became a parody of itself, it can be watched on many levels one being a cynical approach to consumer society and the kind of people it breeds.
Now The Simpsons has become itself a money maker, throwing gadgets all over the place, exploiting fans who probably already bought the first two volumes, now offering a boxed offering (what about the fans who bought the first two volumes: they can forget about the added greeting cards; it should be the other way around). And anyway, let's face it, The Simpsons are out of ideas, now only making the show for the big bucks, distancing themselves ever further about what the original ideas were all about.

3-0 out of 5 stars Ehhh...
I'm not buying any more Simpsons Episode Guide books until the freakin show is cancelled....which at this rate seems like never! I suggest only buying the version that contains seasons 1- 8 (8 being when it started to peter out anyway...Coinciding with the death of the Great One, Phil Hartman)

5-0 out of 5 stars The Ultimate Simpsons Reference!
These guides are so thorough in covering each episode of the Simpsons, any fan will want to buy them all so he/she may as well get them all at once in this fun box set. These books list each episode in every season from the shorts aired on the Tracy Ullman show through season 12. For every episode there is a brief description, the date it originally aired, list of writers/guest voices, tons of quotes, interesting tidbits and things to look for, selected dialog, screen shots, and even the message on Bart's chalkboard in the introduction. In addition to the information on each episode, the books include short features on almost every character (even those that appeared briefly in one episode), Itchy and Scratchy shorts, a list of when Homer says "D'oh!" or "Mmmm...," a list of the "couch gags" during the theme song, you name it. These are the ultimate guides to the Simpsons that every fan will refer to regularly. They also include a handy index to help when one is trying to find that one special episode he/she craves. Even if you already have one of these books, this is an excellent set to own and it's a good idea to have a spare book because you will no doubt wear out at least one! ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars It shouldn't just be Bart's guide to life--make it yours
This well, wonderfully blunt written book is 175 (even the covers!) pages of great laughs and things you could even relate to. If you love or like the Simpsons, you'll love this book. If you don't favor the Simpsons, you'll love this book anyway. This cute little devil has really done it this time-and I'm glad he did. This is best for those who still have an immature, realistic view on life and aren't afraid to crack a smile at another wondrous creation of Matt Groening. I can read and re-read and never grow tired of it. This is definitely worth a few inches of shelf space and a few hours or so of your time. A pleasant keeper for life (at times you may have to refer to it later and you'll be thankful to have it).

5-0 out of 5 stars don't listen to what everyone else says, this book rules!
some of these other reviews ticked me off! i thought this book was excellent! i bought it when it first came out(1993) and i STILL love to read it from beginning to end! this isn't a story book, it pretty much is a guide to life! it is filled with different sections including school, food, xmas, art & culture, parents, etc.. i LOVED it! each page was also filled with colorful illustrations. there is a lot of info in this book, like a section where it gives you a list of phobias AND foreign language section! it tells you how to pronounce and write 6 "bart like" phrases and gives the english approximation for them in 7 different languages! there is SOOO much more in here i can't write it all! if you have any questions, PLEASE e-mail me! (pyro1821@yahoo.com) BUY IT! NOW! it is REALLY worth the cash!

5-0 out of 5 stars Luv It!!
i love this book its soo funny.anyone that is a simpson fan should really read this book!!

5-0 out of 5 stars Eat my shorts!
This book rocks! I am a eleven-year-old Simpsons enthusiast and have been watching the Simpsons since I was a wee lad. I bought this book a few weeks ago and couldn't wait to read it. Although it was made in 1993 (the year I was born), it is an extremely funny book. My favorite section of this book is the school section, with everything from how to cheat to last-minute show-and-tell projects.

5-0 out of 5 stars D'oh! and a whole lot more
The Simpsons juggernaut keeps on rolling along, this title updating the successful series of books on the show with Season 11 and 12. Continuing the successful formula of previous books, we are treated to two or more pages per show, with synopsis, guest stars, quotes and notes (as well as "things you may have missed") from the episode. In between are sketches, D'oh comments, couch gags and the ever popular chalkboard per episode. With the ever expanding world of the Simpsons, what is ultimately great parts of the guide are the index, which let you look for that obscure character name, or the guest voices, and the list of voices for the regular cast members. The latter truly shows the breadth of many of the fine voice actors of the series that help contribute to it's continued success. And with the Simpsons showing no sign of slowing down, I'm sure we'll see some more volumes of this series.

Just like the "Simpsons Forever..Continued" this book is a bit thin to justify the price. It weighs in sturdier than the last volume by over 30 pages, but it still has to work hard to justify the price tag. Happily, the book is a full color collection of such minutia and trivia that it makes up for the value, somewhat.

5-0 out of 5 stars I have an episode guide for 'ou
If you're a Simpsons fan, you need to own this book. This is a complete guide to the last two seasons of the series. Though some have claimed the series is slipping in quality, and the plots do sometimes head into the unbelievable (as Matt Groening states in his introduction), the show still remains in top form, at least to me. The bonus with this episode guide is some unseen production drawings the animators drew of new characters, such as Funzo ("I have a flower for 'ou.") and the future Todd & Rod, who haven't been outed by Bart...yet. Also included are some song lyrics and the church billboard messages from over the years. Each episode of the past two season is covered with full-colour photographs from the episode, as well as new drawings. The episode is summarized and favorite quotes are highlighted. A great guide to the show, and a great continuation of the Simpsons episode guide series.

5-0 out of 5 stars Simpsons Beyond Forever ROCKS!!!!!!!
Wow, The Simpsons has been around a LONG TIME! Right now, they're on Season 15 and the hit show doesn't look like it will end anytime soon. Of course, the episodes are kind of stupid now and some are losing interest. The Simpsons Beyond Forever covers season 11 and 12. The book is basically a really detailed episode guide. Inside, there is an Itchy and Scratchy Filmography, Homer's D'OHS! and his mmm's, and of course, the couch gags. But, that's only part of the book.
Also, they tell everything you need to know about each episode in seasons 11 and 12. There's the stuff Bart writes on the chalkboard, quotes from the episode, a summary and hilarious pictures. With 2 pages for each episode, they have plenty of room to fit anything they want on it. They even do a The Stuff You May Have Missed section for every episode. They have even more information for the Treehouse of Horror episodes. 4 WHOLE PAGES! The episodes aren't even that great!
The book, I wouldn't consider short, but not long. The first book(The Simpsons) almost has 100 more pages than Beyond Forever! But, Beyond Forever has enough information that the few pages don't really matter.
You'll find EVERYTHING you need to know about season 11 and 12 in this book. Basically, it's amazing. I would reccommend this true work of art to any Simpsons fan. You could watch one Simpsons episode and still find this book interesting. Seasons 11 and 12 weren't included in the drop of ideas that has suddenly come into The Simpsons. The wonderful episode HomR lets you discover Homer's only stupid because he lodged a crayon up his nose as a kid. Plus, there's the crazy Trilogy of Error episode where it tells where Homer's finger was cut off by Marge and her brownies.
All in all, this book is AWESOME! Buy it.

5-0 out of 5 stars Simply the best
Amazing. The ultimate for any Simpsons fan!

3-0 out of 5 stars Eh.....
The setup of this book and its execution are just as well made as the two previous books, but at this point in the Simpsons career, they just weren't funny, just stupid. It was about two years before season 11 and 12 that I lost interest in Simpsons and just started watching the superior South Park (which needs its own reference book). I have all three Simpsons books but the only one I find myself rereading is the first one. ... Read more

Book Description

Right this way, ladies and gentlemen, and welcome to another tasty all-you-can-eat collection of Simpsonoid comical funnies, written, penciled, inked, and simmered just for you by your favorite demented cartoon chefs at Bongo Comics. We've got a special meaty comic book stew du jour a-bubblin' away on the stove for you this time, full of rich Barty goodness, thick Homerish chunks, and sinewy Lisa-esque fibers. And, by popular request, we've added a scoop or two of spicy Maggie-renos, along with our usual heaping dollops of authentic Snowball II furballs, and, to stretch the meal even further, a jumbo box full of Santa's Little Helper helper.

A Milhouse salad, of course, comes with every meal at no extra charge. Krustyburgers and Sideshow Mel fries also are available, but the extra-bitter Sideshow Bob soup is off the menu -- at least temporarily.

And be sure to save room for dessert! You haven't lived 'til you've tasted a big old gooey bowl of Flanders-style flan, or munched on Ms. Krabappel's famous crabapples, or chewed on a platter full of hot itchy cakes drenched in creamy Scratchy sauce.

And if you clean your plate you get a special surprise! (The surprise being the surprised look on our faces that you actually cleaned your plate!) ... Read more

"Be-Bop-Lisa"--Lisa ends up playing in a speed metal/jazz band with Otto creating a new musical sensation: "Spazz."

"The End of El Barto"--Police Chief Wiggum tells his story on how he finally caught the notorious graffiti vandal (or, so he thinks).

"The Greatest D'oh on Earth"--One of my favorites in this collection. The circus is in town, but Bart is forbidden to go because he refused to do his chores. Bart finagles the toadying Flanders boys into doing his chores for him ("Gutter cleaning's all the rage in the Holy Land") while he sneaks off to the circus. Dressed like a clown, Bart ends up in a tiny clown car with Krusty ("You never get used to the smell"). One funny box has Krusty running out of the car clutching his back: "My lower lumbar is killing me. Remind me to trade the clown car for a range rover." When Homer finds out Bart disobeyed him, the REAL show begins! Homer's stupidity is hilarious in this one.

"Dead to the Last Drop"--McBain encounters the mob at a fundraiser and deals with them in his own unique way. Krusty also makes an appearance in this one.

"I Shrink, Therefore I'm Small"--In this strip, we find out that Mr. Burns blames himself for causing the 1929 stock market crash when he gave off a horrendous burp moments before the panic began. Says Burns, "From that point on, I have supressed my need to peptically vent" (that explains a lot, actually). Now, that is something even Smithers didn't know! Anyway, Homer is shrunken down in order to man a surgical pod that will be used to dislodge Mr. Burns' internal blockage (unbeknownst to Homer, of course). Will Homer run this machine better than he runs Sector 7G at the nuclear power plant? What do you think?

"Edna of the Congo"--Bart's teacher plays a jungle woman out to save the sacred Purple Puma from poachers (or is she just looking for a man?).

"The Purple Prose of Springfield"--Bart doctors Lisa's diary creating a new literary fad in Springfield.

"Asleep At the Well"--A short featuring Springfield's favorite drunk, Barney Gumble. Find out what chief Wiggum means when he orders a glass of milk at Moe's.

3-0 out of 5 stars Kinda good
This book, for me, is a combination of what makes the Simpsons great, and the bad that we don't see too much on TV. The book begins with "Be-Bop-A-Lisa" in which Lisa joins a band with Otto. This is one of the better ones in the collection. Next, a short called "The End Of El Barto" is a clever little police drama that is very funny. Unfortunately, the funniest thing about "The Greatest D'oh On Earth" is the title. Homer is annoyingly meaner than usual, and the plot goes nowhere. McBain next is okay. Then, "I Shrink, Therefore I'm Small" is an atrocity. I can't find one funny thing about this. Same goes for the next short. Finally, "The Purple Prose Of Springfield" is the best of the book. A Barney short at the end is good too.

5-0 out of 5 stars Just like the show
I think this is one of the best products of the Simpsons yet! It is so much like the show - maybe even better (My mom says I should read more). I'm glad to see that HarperPerennial has taken the time to make a really cool book like this. With 8 episodes in it, it's what every Simpson's fan should own.

2-0 out of 5 stars It's Simpsons, but not as good as the TV show.
This book is good, but it is not nearly as good as the full experience of the Simpsons that you get from the TV show. I read it once and kinda threw it in the corner and forgot about it. This is despite the fact that I am a Simpsons fanatic. I found I missed the voices from the show immensely. You lose an awful lot of the hidden jokes from the show and the humor just isn't there. Bottom line: If you absolutely can not pass this book up, buy it. Otherwise, find some other way to blow a couple bucks.

5-0 out of 5 stars i love the simpsons! they're the bomb! they rule the world!!
I am the Simpsons GREATEST fan! The Simpsons are just so funny! They are the best thing on television! I don't know how Matt Groening thought of them but because he did, he is defineately my hero! ... Read more

Book Description

Welcome to the remarkable first four issues of Simpsons Comics, brought to you by the Bongo Comics Group, a small but overachieving band of merry artists, designers, lawyers and publicists. Their work looks effortless, but the Bongo gang has shed several droplets of sweat, a few droplets of blood, and perhaps even a couple of tears of joy in the making of these comics.

Don't worry, however: All Bongo bodily secretions have been wiped off the original art so as not to distract you from your entertainment experience.

As Bart might say, "We're proud of these comics, man." As Lisa might say, "Damn, they're good."

And as Marge might say, "I don't want you sitting up in that tree house all day reading comic books! You'll ruin your eyes!" ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars The Next Best Thing To The TV Show!!
I have a dozen Simpsons comic books and they all brim with comics, mock advertisements, top ten lists, Itchy and Scratchy shorts, etc. which sport that famous television series humor. Here's what awaits you in this issue:

"Amazing Collosal Homer": Mr. Burns' lab conducts a biological experiment on Homer causing him to grow into a giant. Will Homer's love of donuts and beer--previous source of his normal girth--be the ironic key to his recovery? As Marge says, "Thank heavens for his super-stretch underwear."

"The Collector": Homer plays a wealthy loner who lives in a mansion with his prized possession--"the world's greatest library of comic books." This story is very intriguing and a little spooky. Find out why the Collector goes insane in the end.

"Cool Hand of Bart": Bart attends a "Scared Spitless" anti-deliquency program at the local prison and finds himself on a chain gang with his nemesis Sideshow Bob! What happens when Bob escapes authorities with a reluctant Bart going along for the ride? Why does Bob end up wearing an "I Love Krusty" cap? Fans of the TV show will get a kick out of seeing copies of the Springfield Review of Books in Bob's cell.

"My Sister, My Homewrecker": Selma making out with Homer!?! It has to be seen to be believed!

"The Perplexing Puzzle of the Springfield Puma": Many suspects are named when Springfield elementary's mascot turns up missing, but sometimes it's the one you least suspect. Martin Prince does his "Sopranos" imitation in this one.

"Krusty Agent of K.L.O.W.N.": Springfield's favorite clown tries out an idea for a new TV show. This short includes an interesting mating ritual between Krusty and secretary Miss. Pennycandy.

"It's in the Cards": This story could easily be a TV episode. It starts with a buzzer going off at the Nuclear Power Plant. Lenny, Carl, and Homer scream with terror--their caramel swirl cake almost melted in the microwave. Then the gang sneek off to an Isotopes game after Homer tapes a photo of himself working over Mr. Burns' surveillance camera (upside down, of course). After Homer rushes back to beat the clock, he inadvertently turns off the power to a frozen food warehouse which leads to the plot of the story: the elementary school teachers are out with food poisoning and Bart and Lisa are stuck with substitutes (Lisa's sub is a far-right conservative).

"The Gnarly Adventures of Busman": Finally, you get a sample of Otto's comic strip introduced in the television episode "Three Men and a Comic Book."

5-0 out of 5 stars The show is as good as this
The Simsons comics extravaganza is purfect.the best of all the books(The books i own.)My fave is"The Amazing Colossal Homer."It reflects Burns' black soul and Homers Dumness. All the other comics in this book are purfect too.

4-0 out of 5 stars It may not be the show but it is just as good.
For Simpson Comics Extravangsa(I know its wrong). it gives the first 4 episodes in the Simpson Comics. My favoriate part was the one with Robert Tewliger( Sideshow Bob). It is better to get the single comics, but the book looks nice.

5-0 out of 5 stars non-stop laughter and loads to read
This is one of my favourite simpsons books ever, infact I would like to give ten stars of amusement. This book contains issues that are very funny, my favourite issue is the 1st one when Homer Simpson turns into an enormous sized giant.

4-0 out of 5 stars I reccomend this.
I think this book is very good, considering it is the first one. I especially liked the collector. Even so, its not 5* material. It gets old sorta fast. ... Read more

Viewers who acknowledge The Simpsons as one of the best shows ever to hit television are doubtless already proud owners of The Simpsons: A Complete Guide to Our Favorite Family. But since the show is still in production, that guide is no longer complete. And can you really live a second longer without a full list of last season's blackboard inscriptions? Simpsons creator Matt Groening and editor Scott M. Gimple come to the rescue with The Simpsons Forever! A Complete Guide to Our Favorite Family--Continued. It's an exhaustive list of all the episodes of the ninth and tenth seasons, including screen shots, dialogue highlights (Moe, packing for Hawaii: "Ukulele, pineapples, beach pistol, scandalously revealing thong"), and "Stuff You May Have Missed," such as the fact that the motto of In 'n' Out Ear Piercing is "If It Dangles, We'll Punch a Hole in It." There are also brief bios of guest characters (Señor Ding Dong hates Chevy vans), song lyrics (Marge and Homer's version of "Those Were the Days"), and a fond-without-being-icky tribute to Troy McClure. The truly obsessed will welcome the lists: every couch gag of the past two seasons, which actors do which voices, and every single time Homer has said "D'Oh!" for the past two years. The Simpsons Forever does a terrific job of catching the humor and spirit of a truly great show. --Ali Davis ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Continuation
This book is an excellent continuation of The Simpsons: A Complete Guide To Our Favorite Family. The Simpsons Forever! begins exactly where its predecessor left off by covering the ninth and tenth seasons of this famous show. Each episode has a synopsis, a list of things you might have missed, and a list of some of the highlights from the episode. Included in this book is a list of the different beginning sequences of the show, a list of the times Homer says D'oh, and of course there are bios on many of the side characters that pop up on the show. There are many other things included that are too numerous to mention. Any Simpsons fanatic needs to buy this book and its predecessor for their unlimited wealth of information about the show.

5-0 out of 5 stars A bit thin, but a great continuation
I'm of two minds about this book. As a rabid Simpsons fan, I love the continuation and expansion of the work done in the original Simpsons Forever!. This book continues to give us the view of Season 9 and 10 with all the gags and references that this smart show has to offer. Plus it expands on work done in the earlier book by taking some sweeping 10 season view of recurring gags such as the chalkboard. It belongs on the shelf right next to the original, to be read and laughed at all the time. I'm certainly glad I didn't have to wait 8 more seasons for the second guide.

On the other hand, the fact that this only covers two seasons, as compared to the original eight, bothers the economical sie of me. While yes, there is some material that ties Season 9 and 10 to Seasons 1 - 8, I don't always know if it si worth the price. Were it not a continuation of a great first book, this would be grossly overpriced.

As it is, though, The Simpsons Forever!...Continued is a worthy successor and helps keep the Simpsons Mania going.

5-0 out of 5 stars Seasons 9-10, Complete
The first book covers seasons 1-8. This book only covers two seasons: 9 and 10. Each episode gets a two page spread, while many of the episodes in the first book only had one page. This allows far greater detail to be covered.

I keep all (currently) three books near the TV, and I'll review the pages for each episode before I watch the rerun. In doing so, it opens my eyes to a lot of the little details that I missed the first fifty times I saw the episode.

Essentially, this is the owners manual for seasons 9 and 10.

5-0 out of 5 stars A must own for simpson's fans
Ever wonder what a specfic character's name is, or when a itchy and scratchy first appear? then this and the first edition is a must own!

5-0 out of 5 stars More Simpsons Comics for the Buck!
This book is jam-packed with Simpsons Comics! It is 174 pages; 30% bigger than most Simpsons Comics books! And the quality of the comics has not gone down one iota. Here's what you get in this book:

"The Geek Shall Inherit the Earth": Springfield's top three nerds, Doug, Gary, and Benjamin (Homer hung out with them in the TV episode "Homer Goes to College") are finally forced to leave the secure confines of college to venture into the real world. They end up in Homer's garage. Soon, they become millionaires after creating a violent computer game. While pursuing investment ideas, which includes a sci-fi motion picture that may be too scientifically correct, they leave their business in the hands of Homer. Good idea? What do you think?

"The Absent-Minded Protester": Grandpa is tired of being ignored, so he tries a new way to express his ideas that makes Bart proud.

"Dullards to Donuts": Mr. Burns' research lab produces a donut with powerful addictive qualities. When Burns cuts off the donut supply to his employees, they will make any concession to get them back. The proceeding trial includes appearances from conservative talk show host Birch Barlow (his followers are called "Echo Drones"), Lard Lad, and the mob.

"Sense and Censorability": As punishment for doing a lousy job on his oral biographical report, Bart has to present an historical research project with Homer! When they find their sources from the "Adults Only" section of the comic book store, Watch Out!

"Sideshow Simpsons": With Krusty's sidekicks on strike, Krusty shoots his prime time network special from the Simpsons' house.

"In Search of the Lost Donut Holes": Cute and clever short that has advertising icon and donut connoisseur Lard Lad and friends traveling to "dimensional gateways" through the universe in search of the missing donut holes. Comic includes slogans, editor's notes, and "Brain Glazer" puzzles.

"Bart Simpson and the Krusty Brand Fun Factory": Bart, Ralph, Barney, Nelson and their choices of "legal guardians or parole officers" win a tour of Krusty's new cherry soda factory. Bart chooses to take grandpa so Homer goes with Barney posing as Barney's mother. But, wait. Someone tries to hack into the computerized factory with his prison laptop! Why, it's Sideshow Bob!

"The Homer Show": Taken from the Jim Carey movie, a group of TV execs find Homer the subject of a plethora of videos sent to the Funniest Home Movies program. They plan on creating a 24 hour a day TV show around him, but must get the entire town to cooperate.

"Slobberwacky": Old fashioned style poem featuring many Simpsons characters.

5-0 out of 5 stars Oh My God, This is Funny!
This book is so funny! As I read it, I had a hard time not laughing my head off, while rolling on the floor. Yes, its that FUNNY! Its big too, 7 or so comic strips, and each strip is like 20 big pages, its like reading a book, but better. If you want a good laugh, get this book NOW! The one thing bad about this book is: NOTHING!!!

5-0 out of 5 stars This Is Comedy!
This delightful 7 comic collection Is a tremendous sucsess for the Simpsons. #'s 36-42 are some of the funniest comics. I recomend it to everyone who likes a comedy.

5-0 out of 5 stars Essential, Classic, Must-Have
For anyone anxiously waiting for the 2nd season to be released on DVD, "Simpsons Comics Unchained" is just the thing to hold you over. Containing 7 full issues of the 'Simpsons Comics (#s 36-42) it has all the favorite characters plus many you don't get to see too often (like Troy Mcclure, the nerds from when Homer went to college, and the donut logo -Lard Lad). If you are a fan of comic books, there is even a great story with Comic Book Guy full of inside jokes about comics. The art stays true to the TV show and the writing is done well enough to wish they made some of these stories into episodes.
Highly recommended! ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars BEST ONE YET
This was my first comic, and I loved it. What I didn't know was that not all of the comics are as good as this one, this has got to be the best! It has very funny comics inside that are both unique from the T.V. show but still very exciting to read!
I'll be brief. The first comic is about Flanders becoing bad and evil after he was missing for a couple of days. The second comic is a mini western type comic of the simpsons. The next comic is about the simpsons entering a human science experiment where they are tested if they can survive living in a dome and live off the land. The next comic is a mini comic about skinner telling about the life in the army. The next comic is about bart and millhouse making a comic, trying to sell it, but instead having the company steal thier idea. The next comic is a mini comic about jimbo and his gang breaking rules in thier school and getting in trouble with the principle and cops. The next comic is about homer taking over the duff company. Then there is a mini itchy and scrthcy cartoon. Then a mini comic about grampa simpson talking about modern day collectibles.
Very funny comic collection. I reccomend it extremely. You won't be dissapointed.

5-0 out of 5 stars Turn that T.V. off, and Pick Up a Book!
Excellent comic book full of all the favorite Simpsons characters (Krusty, McBain, Kent Brockman, grandpa, the Flanders, etc.) including advertisements, Itchy & Scratchy shorts, and more! Here's what's in this issue:

"Fallen Flanders"--Ned Flanders sitting on the couch in his underwear drinking beer and burping at the T.V.? Ned Flanders spraypainting "For a Good Time, Call Maude" on the side of a building? Ned Flanders stealing candy from a baby? What's going on?!? Bart and Lisa get help from McBain in this mystery which also continues the storyline started in "Dead to the Last Drop" in Simpsons Comics Spectacular.

"The Kwik-e and the Dead"--Go back to Springfield's frontier days when Mr. Burns owned "only half" the town and Joe Quimby's nickname was "Carbon."

"Survival of the Fattest"--My favorite story in this book. This plot could easily be a T.V. episode. An environmental research biosphere comes to Springfield (at first, Homer thinks it's a "bimbosphere" strip joint). After grueling tryouts (and Homer's cheating), the Simpsons find themselves in competition with the Flanders!

"Spare the Rod, Spoil the Grunt"--Principal Skinner defends his new "spanked straight" discipline policy by telling a tale of his Vietnam days.

"Give Me Merchandising or Give Me Death"--Comic book scouts steal Milhouse and Bart's ideas for a new superhero. See how Bart uses some comic art trickery to get revenge.

"Rebel Without a Clutch"--A short from Jimbo's "Wedgie" comics. Watch Jimbo hotwire a motorbike and create choas at a school art festival.

"To Heir is Homer"--Homer inherits 51% of the Duff Beer plant, and guess who owns the other 49%. This story would also make an excellent T.V. episode. See the source of Duff's unique taste, Duff Springs (closed by order of President Truman).

"Nostalgia Ain't What it Used to Be"--Grandpa and Jasper check out a "Collectorama" convention and can't believe what people would pay for a Lance Murdock Suicycle or a Larva Girl doll "with deluxe pupating action." By the way, if anyone has a Malibu Stacey doll with the party dress that converts to a radiation suit, Smithers is looking for one.

4-0 out of 5 stars Futura - oh, I'm sorry I meant Simpsorama
Just got this for Christmas and it's a good book. The first story, "Fallen Flanders" could be the weakest, but it's still pretty good, just too creepy for the Simpsons. It should've been saved for the yearly Treehouse Of Horror edition. The next story, "Survivor Of The Fattest" is the funniest one because it sets it up so anything can happen. The Simpsons and the Flandereses get stranded inside a biodome for a year. It's a fun story, with a very clever Star Wars ref worked in. From there, it's "Give Me Merchandising Or Give me Death," in which Bart & Milhouse's underground comic is stolen from under their feet by Mr. Burns' Boffo Comics. With lots of subtle self references and parodies this is a keeper. The book ends with "To Heir Is Homer" in which Homer ends up inheiriting the Duff Beer enterprise... partially owned by, who else? Monty Burns. In order the stories would be 1) Survivor Of The Fattest 2) To Heir Is Homer 3) Give me Merchandising and 4) Fallen Flanders, but they're all good for a laugh.

5-0 out of 5 stars This book is so COOL and because I Liked it I am geting two

Simpsons Comics Wingding contains Simpson Comics issues #19 to #23 and features crazy antics from Bart and family. The fun includes "Don't Cry for Me, Jebediah," in which Bart creates city-wide fervor by rigging the statue of the city's founder so that it appears to cry real tears; "The Artist Formerly Known as Bart," which has national pop-star singing sensation Biff Westwood trading places with Bart (because, of course, they look alike); and the Bart-and-Milhouse-take-on-France story, "Bart de Triomphe." The most clever story is a small five-page parody called "Rev. Lovejoy's Hellfire Comics, " a right-wing propaganda piece to which Bart has added his sarcastic comments and doodles in crayon. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars The Best of Simpsons Comics!
I have a dozen Simpsons comic books and Wingding is my favorite! Every comic is a hit and it starts off with the best Simpsons comic ever: "Don't Cry for Me Jebediah." Bart has to do a school essay on the town founder. For once, Bart is motivated due to the prize for the top paper: a year's supply of Squishees (Mrs. Krabapal made out with Apu to get this prize). Unable to find a new, exciting angle, Bart decides to create his own by hooking up an apparatus to make the Jebediah Springfield statue in the middle of town appear to cry. The media circus kicks into high gear! Town square becomes a haven for opportunistic vendors including Moe's "tear beer", Ned Flanders' "shroud of Jebediah" hankies, and Homer's "tear in a cube." Bart can almost taste those free Squishees!

"The Artist Formerly Known as Bart": The teen heartthrob of the month is touring his way through Springfield. His name is Biff Westwood and he looks remarkably like Bart (why Lisa would have the hots for a kid who looks like her brother's twin is cause for further examination, but back to the summary...). Biff wants to spend a day as a normal kid while Bart is always attracted to the wild side of life. What if...

"Stand and Deliverance": Bart is busted for using Principal Skinner's credit card to start a "School Shopping Network." His punishment is a "back to basics" camping trip led by Groundskeeper Willie. Curiously, the only other camper is do-gooder Martin Prince (maybe that's the real punishment). In one funny scene, Otto swerves his bus to avoid a raccoon ("I wouldn't wanna upset the balance of nature") only to start a forest fire in the process killing the raccoon from smoke inhalation. On vacation, Sideshow Mel is found snorkeling and is abruptly sucked up by the park's airplane and dumped onto the fire (I've heard of this actually happening before).

"Little Big Mart": Apu and Mr. Burns go into cahoots to start a Mega Kwik-E-Super Store. Mr. Burns was impressed with Apu's business skills which include watering down the Squishee machine.

"Bart De Triomphe": Bart finagles himself the grand prize in a Krusty Kroissants Kontest-A trip to Paris where he meets up with the two con-men from the TV episode "Crapes of Wrath" (breaking out of jail after being convicted of tainting wine with anti-freeze) and Sideshow Bob.

"Citizen Shame": A comic from Reverend Lovejoy's Hellfire Comics ("God's favorite comic book"). The Rev. explains how a good boy can go bad. The funniest part is that Bart writes sarcastic comments throughout the comic!

5-0 out of 5 stars Are you ready to laugh yourself to death!
I just LOVE THIS! This is certainly as good as it looks! This is funny, just as funny as the TV-Show. You have to read this! This is the best Simpsons Comics Collection Ever!

4-0 out of 5 stars Go-Go and Buy this Book
This was the twelfth Simpsons Comics book I've read and, while it's not the best of the dozen, it is still a very funny book and a must for the Simpsons comics connoisseur (you got to love the cover art). Here's what you get:

"Rhymes and Misdemeanors": Martin Prince is in love with Lisa and, when his love is unrequited, they both do battle in the form of poetry readings at a nightclub dissing each other.

"The Great Springfield Frink-Out": A giant mishap occurs at the Frink labs (actually someone put tin foil in the microwave). This event causes everything to be topsy-turvy in
Springfield, for example, Marge is the mayor, Homer is a mobster, Cecil is the celebrity clown, and Bart has ambitions to be as cool as Milhouse.

"Tiger Teen": Fun mock mini mag in the style of those old 16 and Tiger Beat teen magazines of our youth. Of course, this one features Homer's barber shop group Be Sharps ("Homer Answers 40 Intimate Questions"-is that a perfect copy of those teen magazines or what?). There are also a few familiar names of 80s pop stars on the cover ("Cory Hart Takes off his Sunglasses-Exclusive photos!")

"Burnsie on Board": Mr. Burns tries to live out his boyhood dream of being an Olympic skiing gold medalist by enlisting the help of Bart.

"To Live and Diaper in Springfield": To pay for an expensive toilet paper dispenser Homer desires from an extravagant shopping network, Marge starts a daycare center. Her attention to other babies (particularly the one with the single eyebrow) causes Maggie to run away.

"Fan-Tasty Island": Mr. Burns needs a rare toxin to get by the Coalition to Reduce Air Pollution. This toxin can only be found inside a wood carving on a remote island. The perfect cover-up is to send a family to find the treasure-the Simpsons, of course. Very funny comic, but the ending is a little far-fetched.

4-0 out of 5 stars "Yeah! Another Look at the Simpsons' Future!"
Seeing the cool cover artwork for this comic book (the Simpsons in straight jackets) I had high expectations for this book. At first, I thought I was going to be completely disappointed. The first comics are not very funny and almost as silly as the "Big Book of Bart" books. The first comic, "Journey to the Cellar of the Kwik-E-Mart" is annoying. It starts with a strange photo featuring such things as Lisa wearing a Squishzilla cup and a guy in a chicken outfit tied to the hood of a car and then takes the reader back in certain increments of time to explain the ending. I kept forgetting what the comic was about while reading it. The ending to "Tic Tac D'oh" is farfetched even by Simpsons' standards. In "The Prime of Miss Lisa Simpson," Bart has the teachers deported and the top students have to take over their classes (this one has some pretty funny moments). In "Hamburger's Little Helper," the Simpson dog gains stardom after biting Krusty the Klown in the butt. Sideshow Bob is released from prison only to start a crime school in "Angels with Yellow Faces." The true gem, however, is "The Rise and Fall of B
